Hi ladies. I'm moving house soon. Have had some quotes, two I am interested in. One is from Ideal Movers and the other from SA Movers. Both surveyors said all the right things at the appointments but I would like to ask if anyone has any experience of these two companies, either good or bad? Would appreciate some feedback. Thanks

Be careful where you move to. Sector 14 is a nightmare. Construction work 24 hrs / a day 7 days a week. The authorities seem unable to stop it. Contractors are given work permits to do quiet work during "out of hours" but then do whatever they want creating a great deal of noise - hammering and banging until 2 am and on Fridays. Security do their best to stop it but the contractors are out of control. I have lived there for 3 years and have now had enough and am moving.

I use Care Insurance Broker. They have always found me reasonable insurance premiums - my car is 15 years old.

If LL will not release you early from the tenancy agreement, do not give him the keys back until the end of the period for which you have paid, and make sure you changed the locks [if you didn't already when moving in'>. At least he won't be able to re-let & get double rent.

Cut Above - Jumeira Beach Rd in the Magrudy's Mall next to Spinneys by the big mosque. Been using them for 18 years - that's a recommendation.

I live in JVC. Far as I am aware there is no District Cooling here, certainly no plants nearby. Utility bill is OK but that depends on your house size / insulation. Main problem here is the 24 / 7 construction work going on. We have concrete works and hammering and banging just about every night. Also Friday working. So there is never any peace. Security and Nakheel seem unable to stop it despite many residents complaining. There was a rumour that some construction companies pay security to stay away - no idea if this is true or not. Wouldn't move here if I could choose again but am leaving Dubai in a year or so, so can't be bothered to move again. Suggest you have a drive round the area after 11 pm at night - then you can judge if you could tolerate the noise.

Thank you all for your responses. Sorry Dogwalker 2, I noted down your number to phone you today & lost it. In the meantime this morning I went to K9 and am considering fostering an older dog. Dogwalker 2, please repost your number again. If I get a foster dog I will call you and she and Millie and I will arrange to walk with you.

Why do some people insist on taking offence when none is meant! We can all twist peoples words or actions to another meaning if we choose to. Gorrobattie, I am assuming you are of Asian origin [please do not rant at me if this is an error!'>. Most nannies / maids in this country are of Asian origin - so isn't it an understandable mistake for someone to make? Why not graciously accept a mistake as just that? So what if you were 'told off.' Never been told off before, whether right or wrong? - lucky you! Can you honestly say that you have never made a mistake, or never been angry with someone when they might have inconvenienced you? 30-odd years ago in UK I worked on construction sites as an engineer. In those days there were only about 10 women working on site in the whole country. How many times was I mistaken for the tea girl? Was it demeaning - of course not. Was I spitting mad - never, it was a giggle. You are one Angry Lady. Let it go. Calm down and enjoy life - you will be much happier!

I only employed a maid with a husband once, and this was my experience: Maid had a husband who also had Friday off. Asked if he could spend Friday in her quarters - not a problem. Then asked if he could come on Thursday night - not a problem. Then asked if he could come one night mid week - not a problem. Before I knew it he had moved in - she was a good maid so OK lets make an arrangement. No one lives anywhere free, right? So if in return for accommodation and living with his wife he would sweep the yard and clean the 2 cars once a week we would all be happy. After a few weeks he stopped doing the agreed work. Then he tried telling me what hours his wife would work, and what household tasks she could and could not do! One weekend we found him in our swimming pool when he knew the rule was not to use it. One midweek day I came home in the afternoon and found him sitting in my husbands chair, feet on coffee table, watching TV and smoking a cigarette [we don't smoke'>. The rule was that he was not to come in the house. Final straw was when we returned from holiday and found that they had been sleeping in our bed! Where I come from if you are kind and tolerant with people they will respond in the right way. I guess their culture was different and our kindness was seen as a weakness to exploit. We fired the maid and never again employed one with a husband in tow. Sorry if this sounds harsh but once bitten.....

Hi, Don't know where you are, but we - a group of anywhere up to 5 dogs - walk leisurely near to the Meydan hotel most mornings. Dear Dogwalker 2 Thanks for your reply. I live in Jumeirah Village Circle. Where do you meet and at what time? I would like to bring Millie along to say hello. Not sure if we could walk far with you but would like to give it a go.

I have been using Dr Deon Hugo at British Dental Clinic for 18 years [Al Wasl Rd opposite Emirates Bank & Life Pharmacy'>. Would recommend him - best dentist I have ever had and sympathetic to dentist scaredy cats like me! I went to him after another dentist messed up some dental work that wrecked my gums such that I nearly lost 2 top front teeth, which he managed to save.

I used to have five dogs. Over the last 2 years four have passed away and I am left with one lonely old girl. She is 15 1/2, missing her friends and in need of the company of her own species . My girl can't walk far and now that she is old can't cope with boisterous friends. Does anyone else have old / calm dogs who need company - for meet ups, coffee, mooching around in the garden / park? Just someone to hang out with occasionally to relieve the sadness and loneliness of losing her dog-pals.
