Hi Frazzle, I took some photos of Al Raayan just recently and I was pretty impressed. Regarding noise the villas are very well insulated and double glazed I couldn't hear any traffic. You can see the pics here: http://www.propertyfinder.qa/en/rent/villa-for-rent-doha-madinat-khalifa-966.html The facilities and club room excellent. Great family environment, see the cubby house in the garden!

I was at the old QDC on the weekend and they said new cards wont be issued at the Pearl branch so you'll still need to go up there. A friend said they went to the Pearl one this morning at it was open.

I've had a manicure, shellac and had a hair cut and it was fine and a little less manic than the same branch in the Four Seasons. You can dry your manicure by the pool....(with a cheeky glass of wine)

Well summarised nasimindoha. It was the English tone of the thread which I disagreed with. Maybe we should all walk around with a little badge "I'm a french speaking customer" "I'm a Maori speaking customer" "I'm an English speaking customer" and then the nail attendant could switch languages so everyone got what they perceived as their level of "customer service" :-) I don't follow the "Janes" comments by carolina though??? Anyway I think it's sad we've got women walking around feeling paranoid that hair attendants are talking about them in a foreign langauage! Come on ladies, a big Oprah hug to you all, you don't need that baggage in life! Don't sweat the small stuff! They probably aren't talking about you and even if they were who cares if the Mango ladies are having a bit of rant? We just had a big rant on the internet with hundreds of people now knowing to watch out for the tagalog Doha Mango ladies :-) C'mon it's a bright new day (actually BBC says it will rain) let's celebrate our differences!!

Kiwispiers, I am so embarrassed I wasn't as brave as you! I was reading this thread not believing what I was reading! I even got hubbie to check, is something wrong with what I'm thinking!! I'm so relieved to hear others felt the same. Good on you.

I had wondered too Amy, in the end like you I joined seperatly. But my hunch is.... status levels. If the man (or main account holder) accrues the flights they will get to the next status tier quicker. Which may benefit those families with one partner travelling frequently and say the wife only travelling one or twice a year. Anyway that's the guess I came up with??

"Cultured" people queue????? I have seen all matter of people cut queues regardless of nationality, socio-economic status or level of arts education. Getting on a Japanese train was one of the most "un-queue" like things I have ever done!! It was a massive scramble and squish. Maybe it's our inbuilt "survival of the fittest" :-) With so much unrest in the world let's all be grateful for what we have, some days you don't get to see the seal show, that's life.

CSM That is weird! The only thing we needed to get attested was his degrees, original birth certificate was fine. Having said that it was a major pain in the a**! and very expensive. To get it all attested in Australia cost about AU$450. The attestation done by the Australian Consulate in UAE cost A$30! It was the same stamp for heavens sake! I got our marriage certificate done just in case while I'm still here. Ahhhh paperwork. Nearly wine o'clcok here phew.

Getting on DH RP should take no time at all, many of these proccesses are automated for larger companies using http://portal.www.gov.qa/wps/portal/services what you are waiting for is someone just to get around to it :-) We bought this book http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/book/9789948442356/Qatar-Complete-Residents-Guide as soon as my husband accepted the offer and it has been great preparing us for what to expect and what to organise before he left for Doha.

We are in the same boat, my husband arrived in Doha last month but everything has progressed much quicker than we expected. He opened a HSBC bank account before he had to go for blood tests (5 days) so I think it depends who you work for. He just got RP yesterday, so took 5 weeks, we are Australian so maybe different? Now all that's sorted time for me to pack up house...again! You can go on visit visa, follow your heart.

hi ccdoha, yes this is calendar days leave, my DH get's 45 calendar days, not the same as week days :-) It will be in the contract which one your DH has. One of those "cute" things in moving to Doha from Australia.
