My 10 year old nephew is in love with: Harry Potter, a few months ago it was Bakugans but now he's fading away from that, also any sports things and his DS of course. I usually find boys easy to shop for as they come in two categories: sporty and not sporty (overgeneralising here, but hey...) If I don't know what the kid wants and he's sporty, I get something football-related. If not, I usually get something crafty, like a build a volcano kit or a spy kit etc. etc. And Wii/Xbox/PS3 games are always popular. The older one could be at the right age for COD, maybe? If his mum's okay with it, it might be worth checking out...my sister think ten is a bit young for that sort of violent game. My nephew's been begging her for a COD game and she refuses to until he's at least twelve. But apparently it's 'the' game to have, so if the mum's fine with it... MarioKart? A Harry Potter game?

Yes yes yes yes! If you can, definitely do it! You get more leg room and bigger seats to hold onto your baby and it doesn't feel as claustrophobic when the baby cries (as is inevitable) and everyone turns to stare. Easier to quiet them down too, with more space. But I'd only do it if the flight was longer than 5-6 hours.

The usual teletubbies, tweenies and all are popular with my daughter, but she's a couple of years older than 8 months! When she was that age, she liked Baby Einstein and the Fun Song Factory but really she watched anything. It doesn't take much to keep a baby occupied. I preferred not to let her watch too much tv so mostly to keep her occupied I put her in a room with a lot of dangling mirrors :)

Yes!!! I have the EXACT same problem. First I tried staying up until I was really tired in the hopes of getting a few extra hours sleep without waking up early, but it didn't work out. I've searched all I can and can't find anything on how to get BACK to sleep, but now what I do to get more sleep is I avoid the TV and computer before bed. Works wonders!

Congratulations Cats! I was actually due end of May but I just delivered Madeline (we're stuck on her middle name :) ) on Thursday. She's in the NICU so far weighs 3lbs 12 ounces but doing fine thank God. Things I wished I'd had, or am using A LOT: -hand lotions (You reaaaalllly need this) -chapstick -toothbrush, toothpaste or gum/mint to get that awful taste out of your mouth -hairbrush -camera (Don't forget this! I made DH run down and get a disposable one when we forgot) -energy/cereal bars

Hi everyone, I just wanted to tell you all that I went into early labour on Thursday night (at 33 weeks) and my beautiful little baby is in the NICU right now. She weighed 3lbs 12 ounces at birth, but the doctors said she'll most likely be fine because she's gaining weight very quickly for a preemie. Please pray that we can bring her home soon!

Thank you everybody! I was never really worried about the pain but the party just got to me. Don't know why I got so panicky. You have no idea how much this has helped, reading experiences that weren't so bad -and even if they were, you all lived :)...lol now I want to cry from the support...aww...pregnancy mood swings! *sniff*

I'm just being honest. Mine is hardly a horror story. You're right, not compared to the ones I was being fed. Calmed down now I think with help from DH. Mild panic. I want the baby, I'll love the baby, and if it's painful, I'll use it for later when they give me trouble ;) Yeesh, some of the things people say...not very nice either, seeing as I was standing right there and getting paler with every word they said! :/

At a clothes store with my daughter (who is 15 months old) Me (looking at myself in mirror): So what do you think? Does mommy look good? Shop Assistant who happens to be walking past: Oh NO Maam! Me: Excuse me? Shop Assistant: (tuts disapprovingly) No no ma'am you have bigger stomach, you need bigger clothes. I get you two size up? Me: No, that's okay. I'm pretty sure this is my size Shop Assistant: (catches sight of baby, looks understanding) Ah, you have newborn little bebee! Don't worry mam, my sister lose all the weight...she go to gym, now she thin-thin like this! Me: Okaaaay...but she's not a newborn (Fine, she’s a preemie, but she does NOT look newborn!!) Assistant: No? Me: No, she actually just turned one Assistant: Oh she so small! (Nudges me in a friendly (??) way) She get that from Daddy eh? Me: ?!?!?! And what's more is although I'm not tiny like the fillipinos, I weigh 115 lbs!! Another one with DH over the weekend... At 7:15- DH gets up to get DD. He leaves the room and BANGS the door on his way out. Promises to let me sleep in. At 7:35- “I forgot to ask you if she can watch TV?” At 8:00- He comes in to say that he’s making breakfast and do I want any pancakes? My response: UHGAAAUGH LEMME SLEEP! At 8:19- He comes in to get something, forgets I’m sleeping and turns on the light. He leaves the door open on his way out. At 8:30- He brings DD to OUR bathroom for some reason to brush her teeth and they sing songs on full volume. Thankfully closes the door on his way out. At 9:00- He comes in with DD to use the bathroom and puts her on the bed. He takes AGES in there, sounding like a herd of elephants while DD uses me as her own personal jungle gym At 9:15- DH leaves with DD and bangs the door AGAIN on his way out. At 9:25- He comes in to tell me that he’s taking DD to the park At 9:50- “We’re baaaack! Let’s go see if mommy is awake!” I give up. At 3:00- DH: I’m so tired, I think I’m going to go to bed early tonight Me: I know, me too DH: How are you tired? You slept in til ten! Me: o_O

I found out about this because one of the mom blogs I follow was raving about it, so I bought one for myself. It's this strap that wraps around you and your child sits on it. My little one weighs 20 pounds and this is the first time since she was born that I've been able to carry her for TWO AND A HALF HOURS STRAIGHT with no back or arm pain. It's called baby hiphugger it's the first site when you google babynari. (I don't know if I'm allowed to recommend things, but I just wanted to share this because I know so many moms who have cranky babies that want to be held 24/7, who are constantly bent over to the side- or with huge muscles on one arm and none on the other!!)
