My husband and I need to visit Joburg in mid February for a ceremony and have a few questions -

We have a 4 month old baby so need a 2 bedroom place. We would prefer to rent an apartment as we will probably be home early each night so our baby can be in bed early. Meaning, if we have an apartment, then it will be larger than a hotel room and our baby can sleep in 2nd bedroom. We can then make noise watching TV etc and not wake him.

The ceremony we are attending is in Ruimsig.

However we wish to stay in Sandton as this seems to be the safest place in Joburg. Pls advise if there are other safe areas?

We will stay only 3 or 4 nights in total. We have done many safaris in Africa so will just relax at our hotel/apartment this time. Besides, I have asked many safari camps and there isn't much you can do, or places you can take a 4 month old baby.

Accommodation options in Joburg (pls advise if you know of anywhere better - although want cheap).

- 20 West Executive Hotel / Apartments
- Westpoint Executive Suites (how faraway is this property from main restaurants/sights in Sandton)?

Also, have searched EPW for Joburg info. Can we walk around the streets during the day?

Its in a good area close to the shops. Lots of trees and safe area. Dont worry, you made a good choice. Enjoy your stay. :) Lots of really good restaurants in that area and close to your accommodations. I would defnitely recommend you also go eat out at Nelson Mandela square. Has a nice atmosphere in the evenings and of course great shopping during the day.

Thanks Sweet Sugar for your suggestions however I checked Trip Advisor and found the accommodation options I listed below. Maybe another EPW lady might be able to shed some more light (fingers crossed).

I am not familiar with the hotels you mention but try www.sa-venues.com. A good site for accommodation across SA. Also try to check tripadvisor for reviews on hotels you decide on.
