.... my parents are wanting to go to Sydney this year to see the NYE fireworks on the Sydney Harbor Bridge.

Does anyone know where would be good to stay in Sydney close to walking distance to the bridge?

Or could you recommend a website that they can go to to search for accommodation?

TIA

Thank you ladies for your responses so far. My parents have this funny idea in their head that are going to be able to book a hotel within a 2 minb walk to the bridge and all will be good.... I have a funny feeling that it isn't going to be that simple or straight forward!!!

They need to keep in mind that in order to get a vantage point anywhere near to the Bridge, they will need to be there at least 6 hours (preferably 12!) before the first fireworks at 9pm. I would recommend Kirribilli as it's close to Milson's Point train station, then they would just need to stay somewhere on the train line in order to get home.

have a look at airbnb- have used them myself all over Sydney and my parents found some gorgeous accomodation in Cremorne through it when they came to visit me there. Would definitley recommend Cremorne, my parents loved it and views of the harbour and bridge are fab! I used to live in Milsons Point and Kirribili, which are great areas and in walking distance of the bridge (literally 2 mins away)- I know you can walk down to Luna Park to watch teh fireworks from there for free but people start heading down there at lunchtime, thats how busy it gets! McMahons point is also fantastic views but a lot of buildings in that area require guest passes aswell.

Stayz.com.au is really useful. We have used it for accommodation in Sydney. We didn't stay within walking distance of the bridge, but stayed in the Paddington/Darlinghurst area on a hillside and had wonderful views of the fireworks.
