Am soon to move to Adelaide...maybe in about 12 months at the most. I don't have a driving license, due to a driving phobia, that am still trying to recover from. Am in a dilemma....whether to take the lessons here or there. Which one would be more pocket and nerve- friendly? Please advise if anyone has any idea.

I would vote for Oz too. Why be taught bad habits here. I dont know the SA rules but in NSW it is now 120 logged hours in different conditions (main rd, rain, country rd etc) to get your provisional licence which allows you to drive on your own. I would suggest a few lessons with an instructor as they know what the testers are looking for particularly and know the test areas they take you too. Good luck! Adelaide's roads will seem very mild after here.

Australia. Trying to drive here freaks me out, and if you will be moving to Adelaide soon there is probably no point in learning in a foreign country when you will be driving on the opposite side of the road there... Quite awhile since I got my license but in Oz they seem very fair as to the assessments- you get a clear outline of what you are expected to do to pass, none of this "X amount of passes per day" we keep hearing about happening here.. Not sure if it's still the same but while recommended I did not have to use a professional driving tracher (though recommended for maybe the first few lessons and before your test) I did a few with a teacher then my parents drove around with me for the coached driving. I had to fill a log book with driving in different conditions as possible e.g. day, night, highway, city etc up to 40 hours. It got to be a pain doing short trips so on weekends we took a long drive somewhere to build up the hours (plus country driving is great experience to get when you are supervised rather than going it alone the first time)

I'd go for Adelaide-much quieter and less stressful driving. No mimimum number of lessons either although you do need to keep a log of practice lessons you take with a qualified driver and do a set minimum number of hours driving during the day and night too.

As an Aussie, I would say get one in Oz. The standard of driving here is atrocious and the speeds are much higher here. I'm not 100% sure but dont you have to have 40 lessons in Dubai before you can get your license?
