Importation of pharmaceutical products and medicine are controlled under the Import and Export Ordinance, Chapter 60, Laws of Hong Kong and must be covered by a licence issued by the Department of Health.
Pharmaceutical products and medicines imported in the personal baggage of a person entering Hong Kong and which are accompanied by them in a reasonable quantity for their personal use may be exempted from licensing requirement. It is important to carry proof of medication, usually a prescription from your home country will suffice.
Importation of medicines containing ingredients of highly endangered animals is subject to licensing control under the Protection of Endangered Species of Animals and Plants Ordinance, Chapter 586, Laws of Hong Kong, regulated by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department.
