Hi, I'm moving to Singapore next week and I'm really lost when it comes to packing. I'll only be taking a 30kg suitcase with me at the moment, so I have to be very picky. Helpppppp me please!

Just be grateful you're moving to Singapore! I'm well jel! Don't take any cardies, cover-ups, outerwear etc 30/32 degrees all year round, humidity is awful but it's a real walking place, taxis are cheap as and all drivers must have a Sing passport and are way more helpful than here. Shopping is similar with Euro brands everywhere but lots more local options - don't worry about the packing you can buy/find all you need easier and cheaper than here - enjoy!!

Definitly take a light cardigan as air-con inside malls, offices etc can at times be freezing. At first you will find it hilarious when you see people wearing turtle necks, but then realise they have just come from inside somewhere cold. Shopping is similar in stores here but more people everywhere, harder to get places at coffee shops etc these days. Prices are way more expensive then here by far, ( if you are a bigger size person you will have more choice here than there so stock up before you go) A lot of the local options are smaller asian sizes. Shoes are cheap though. You will still enjoy your time though.

Hey there. I've only been here in Singapore weeks. No need to bring your whole wardrobe as you might find shopping here delightful. I'm not much into shopping but whenever I do, I find it very convenient as you'll find just about anything around here...from the cheapest to the high end clothes. Hope you like it here. I do, so far. Feel very safe walking around.

Hi there everyone! I moved to Singapore from Dubai this July. Still trying to get settled... Got no friends ....don't even know how to pronounce some words like glenggang (the taxi driver told me that I can't pronounce such words properly!?) I have gone thru mrt zillions of times to orchard road and marina bay.....love ion orchard.... Still happy with my family but my kid is getting bored and keeps saying to "explore" Singapore. Any ideas where to take him as he doesn't like museums and we went to many gardens like botanic, Singapore flyer, Merlion but now clueless!

Oh nice to see there are some of us here as well. I have just arrived so I don't know much about attractions but have you been to Sentosa? Apparently is really cool there, especially for kids. I am trying to find us an apartment to live as we are in a temporary place at the moment, we want something central. Can you share your house searching tips with me? How do you find prices in general? I find everything so expensive compared to Dubai!

Hi, Our company are thinking to relocate in Singapore, it has a very strong startup culture, also a lot of big incubators are situated here. Well, we've found several companies that can help with relocation, like: - [url=http://www.one-visa.com/'>OneVisa[/url'> - [url=http://www.singapore-visa.net/'>VisaExpress[/url'> Also I've heard about Rikvin. and Hawksford. Maybe somebody can advice something? I hope to get here soon ;) edited by Afina on 04/05/2015 edited by Afina on 04/05/2015

Hi! I'm moving from Melbourne to Singapore with my family around August this year.. Would need a shipping company to move almost a whole flat of furniture over because i just can't bear to part with them! Does anyone have any company to recommend that won't break the bank? Also, what would the charges/waiting time/services be like? Am at a lost so any advice would help a lot! Many thanks!

Hey mialee77, replied you on a previous thread but just thought i would paste it here to give others the info as well: I moved from NYC to Singapore a while back. The shipping company we contacted was Moovaz - it's not a big company, but i decided to just go with it. I knew i made the right choice when the salesperson (Jerry) contacted me and tried to tailor the whole relocation process to my needs (i.e. budget, explaining volume & waiting time). Basically it's about 6-7k for a full container load (FCL) but would vary according to destination and if you opt for groupage service. The service was excellent! I highly recommend them.
