The most lively brunch in Dubai is by far Yolumba - An Aussie brunch place, with free-flowing champagne and a lot of ambiance to say the least! Ah, the pre-kids Dubai days =) For foodies, the best brunch in my book is Traiteur at the Park Hyatt - Just delicious, if a bit pricey. I save it for special occasions once or twice a year. For somewhere in the middle, I would try the Thai Kitchen (also at the Park Hyatt), good atmosphere, but not over the top, very good food, and it was around 350dhs (with drinks) when we went if memory serves.

I've been here for 6 years now, so I've tried most of the great desert resort, but always try to go for a deal online (can't help it, I love patrolling the internet for value!). For the best deals in the region, I always go to www.travelervip.com - They are based in the region, and they seem to negotiate the best with good hotels. Back home, I always used secretescapes.com and voyageprive.com - Great deals for luxury hotels in Europe, and you'll sometimes get really good deals in Dubai as well (they had a really good on the Atlantis that I booked for DH's sister when she came to visit). Anyone know of any other good travel sites? - the best vacation for me is always the next one!

I was in the car yesterday morning with my twins and they were being wild as usual :) They are 15 months! I was listening to Virgin and an ad came on about a new travel website in Dubai that gives great discounts....It was Traveler something? Did anyone hear the ad? Now that the twins are napping, I would like to get online and check out the website....

I got my tickets from a deal on www.rihlaprime.com - The customer service was great and we get a hotel deal with it in Dubai - My husband and I are excited for a night out on the town.

I bought the book, but only read about a quarter of it! I really should give it another try and check their suggested meals. Lobster and Tuna steak doesn't sound too bad!

We definitely could have crossed paths Suze63 - I was there 3 weeks ago! Great time of the year to visit =). One off the beaten path recommendation is the family run Heritage Experience Restaurant in Petra. The Mansif (traditional Jordanian lamb dish) is absolutely to die for!

I tried the attack phase, but couldn't stay on it more than 3 days! It's so tough to stick to chicken and fish at every meal - How did you get through it? Did you eat any of the galettes he mentions in the book? I heard that these help tie your carb cravings over!

Well I feel horrible now! I paid 1800aed at Thrifty for almost 2 years!! Good for you girls to pay only 1500! (Just bought a car now-but 1800 is way too much for that tiny car)!

We just came back from a great three day trip to Jordan. Highly recommended! The first day, we rented a car directly from the Airport and headed down to Petra (of Indiana Jones fame!). Listed as one of the new 7 wonders of the world, it's definitely a sight to see, but a tiring hike to see the temples! We then made our way back north and spent the next two days relaxing in the Kempinski in the Dead Sea - took a mud bath, visited the spa and floated in the dead sea reading the newspaper! Great trip, quite a bit of driving, but well worth it for a short getaway!

Thanks so much for the feedback - Just looking at timing, it looks like Al Maha is a pretty short distance driving from Dubai - I know that Qasr Al Sarab is near Abu Dhabi, but not sure how far in the desert the resort is located - Does anyone know if it is a difficult drive at night coming from Dubai after work?

That's disappointing to hear about thelack of light in the kitchen - And the prices seem to be too high. I've seen nice 3 bedroom villas in Jumerah going for 140k these days! Still what a great location for the kids to play!

Has anyone been to Qasr Al Sarab or Al Maha? I just entered the competion on www.rihlaprime.com to win two free nights to Qasr Al Sarab and saw the hotel pictures - it looks absolutely stunning! I was planning a short trip to Al Maha to take advantage of summer rates, and was wondering if anyone had been to both and could give me a comparison? Of course if I win the rihlaprime competition, the choice becomes easy! Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
