Hi Ladies I am really dying to see some grass... I have a small empty space in front of my villa and want to remove the brick flooring and lay down some grass and plant some bouganvillia etc. Would any of you ladies have a contact no for a reliable gardener who could do this? Where does one search for gardening companies? Any tips from those of you with green fingers would also be much appreciated :)

Ok so we have tried Qatar Living and other sites, but still no luck. Just wondering if anyone could share their experience on how to go about finding a painter to paint your home. Or is that just not done here? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Deb My question is more about good / bad experiences parents on this blog may have had at either place and not so much about meeting my expectations.... I have visited both and liked both outwardly.... but just wanted to hear some personal first-hand experiences for or against. btw my expectations are: that she is taught and cared for by professionals who will nurture her but will also have a good structured day where she will learn the basics of stringing her phonics together to read and write. It is important to me that the classes are not over crowded and that there is a good teacher student ratio. I also would like the premises to be spacious and well equipped. Im sure these are all on the 'want-list' for most parents. I would love to hear from any parents who have had their kids in either of the two places. Thanks Sasmi

Thank you everyone for your replies. I am definitely going to try that Kiara76. Lets hope they have some mercy and let her in. Im trying not to get too hopeful though coz I was sent an email last week saying "We note that there is no RP on file so if you did bring your child to school this week you must not do so again" This was sent to me even though I never even sent my daughter in! Kiara would you know if the families that succeeded, was it this academic year and was it Gharaffa campus? Because thats where we are enrolled. Thank ever so much! Sasmi

Hi Raahatd Yeah we are forking out the extra. Like I said none of the other British curriculum schools had places for my son ( Sherborne included) Thats why we had to 'choose' compass... My kids are enrolled for Gharaffa campus. Im afraid I dont know anything about the other campuses. Sasmi

Hi Raahaatd Compass is out of our budget too but we had to settle for it since none of the other British curriculums schools had spaces for us even though we are British. I only checked out the Gharafa campus, which charges 59K for primary education. It was okayyyyish... nothing fancy, and certainly not what I was expecting given the OTT fees. Hope this helps a little

Thanks Chardfan for your reply I had a problem with my account was not able to log in the past 2 weeks! Thank you for the info on Sherborne. It was originally my 1st choice (after hearing about the waiting lists for DESS) but then I heard some horror stories of how they are really behind national curriculum and disorganized etc.... to be fair after reading reviews it seems some see it as an excellent school and others as appalling. We do have Brit Passport so will take your advice and put names on waiting list for DESS. After taking a really quick 3 day trip to Qatar I now feel like moving into a stand alone villa instead of a compound, the compounds we visited barely have what can be called a yard and with 4 little kids thats high up on my list of priorities. Any advice on how to locate stand alone villas?... they seem few and far between on propertyfinder
