Hi Rayegee, Did they offer you a higher pay in the end? I'm an Allied Health professional with an area of speciality and 10 yrs experience and I tried to negiotiate my pay but they said the best they can offer is 18,900 with transport 2000. I am seriously considering all options as having done some further research on cost of living, it seems to be rising. Hi Ladybirdie, I am an allied health professional (pharmacist) in USA. I am still waiting on my offer. It has been forever. They told me the delay is because they have to change that I don't have 3 years hospital experience in the job description. Still waiting on my offer. What is your specialty?! Thanks Mona

I can only say that I was happy with my offer, and it was worth my while to accept it. In my contract it specifically asks that details be kept confidential. I think each applicant is considered as it's own case. I also thought that I would never get an offer, but eventually I did and am now awaiting my visa approval. Offers do take the most time, then after that it seems to move along faster! Thank you Abby for the reply. I completely agree with you it is a package. Glad to hear you are happy with your offer. I am wishing a safe & easy move. May be we will meet in person one day!!

I am an RT and have accepted and signed a contract. There was quite a push for all my paperwork about 3 weeks ago in order to get things submitted for my licence.I am expecting to hear about the approval soon, and once HR receives that, it's another 3-4 weeks for the Visa. So as far as I know they are processing liscenses for RT's. Hello Abby, I am a licenced pharmacist in USA. I was offered a position as outpatient pharmacist. I submitted my papers & license more than 2 months ago and still waiting for the offer. Regarding the offer, if you don't mind to ask, are they offering more or less or the same what your current wages are? Please advise

Thank you!!! Foreign Earned Income Exclusion If you meet certain requirements, you may qualify for the foreign earned income and foreign housing exclusions and the foreign housing deduction. If you are a U.S. citizen or a resident alien of the United States and you live abroad, you are taxed on your worldwide income. However, you may qualify to exclude from income up to an amount of your foreign earnings that is adjusted annually for inflation ($91,500 for 2010, $92,900 for 2011, $95,100 for 2012, and $97,600 for 2013). In addition, you can exclude or deduct certain foreign housing amounts. Limit on Excludable Amount The foreign earned income exclusion amount is adjusted annually for inflation. For tax year 2013, the maximum foreign earned income exclusion is up to $97,600 per qualifying person. If the individuals are married and both work abroad and meet either the bona fide residence test or the physical presence test, each one can choose the foreign earned income exclusion. Together, they can exclude as much as $195,200 for the 2013 tax year. Part Year Exclusion If you qualify under either the bona fide residence test or the physical presence test for only part of the year, you must adjust the maximum limit based on the number of qualifying days in the year. The number of qualifying days is the number of days in the year within the period on which you both: Have your tax home in a foreign country, and Meet either the bona fide residence test or the physical presence test. For this purpose, you can count as qualifying days all days within a period of 12 consecutive months once you are physically present and have your tax home in a foreign country for 330 full days. To figure your maximum exclusion, multiply the maximum excludable amount for the year by the number of your qualifying days in the year, and then divide the result by the number of days in the year. Physical Presence Test Under the physical presence test, a 12-month period can be any period of 12 consecutive months that includes 330 full days. If you qualify under the physical presence test for part of a year, it is important to carefully choose the 12-month period that will allow the maximum exclusion for that year. [b'>EXAMPLE[/b'>: You are a U.S. citizen, a bona fide resident of Country A, and working as a mining engineer. Your salary is $76,800 per year. You also receive a $6,000 cost of living allowance, and a $6,000 education allowance. Your employment contract did not indicate that you were entitled to these allowances only while outside the United States. Your total income is $88,800. You work a 5-day week, Monday through Friday. After subtracting your vacation, you have a total of 240 workdays in the year. You worked in the United States during the year for 6 weeks (30 workdays). The following shows how to figure the part for work done in the United States during the year. Number of days worked in the United States during the year (30) ÷ Number of days of work during the year for which payment was made (240) × Total income ($88,800) = $11,100. Your U.S. source earned income is $11,100. My husband is retired. edited by RRTNICU on 16/11/2014

Hmmmm interesting. I make 7K a month (USD) gross now. I wonder if they will offer me that? That would be nice as it would be tax free. Wait and see. Just to clarify the point of tax free salary for USA citizen work abroad. It is tax free salary in Qatar. Regarding USA. If you worked 7 days a year in USA & get paid in USA. You have to file your whole income you earned in Qatar in USA taxes. If you did not work in USA that year. You get exempt for the 1st $85,000. For example if you are making $100,000 a year. You file your taxes as you earned $15,000. If your spouse is still working in USA while you work in Qatar. You should file the taxes separately or you have to claim your full income without exempting the $85,000. That is what my accountant told me.

Hello Ladies, I read through some posts and can appreciate your experiences with the waiting process for documents to get attested and to hear back from Sidra etc..The process is slow; mine started last November and finally flying out to Doha this Sunday! Orientation for Sidra is on Wednesday and Thursday. Yes, it is exciting but also a bit frightening too. I guess these emotions are typical for what we all will be going through. I will drop you a line to let you know how it goes as I can relate to needing/wanting more information during the relocation process. Wish me luck and I hope to meet you all soon ;) Pam Pam Best of luck Pam, wishing you an easy trip. Enjoy the sun. Mona
