So my DH thinks I have lost my mind but I am 14 weeks pregnant and due December 4th and was just looking at school and their waiting lists.. so I saw that for JESS Arabian Ranches (one of our choices) the waiting list is already open for 2016-2017 and ofcourse I panicked, so I guess my question is: 1. at what age would kids be accepted into Foundation 1 (I assume thats the equivalent of KG1?) 2. and based on the birth date then would the baby (we dont even know the *** yet!) be even eligible for 2016--2017 or is it 2017-2018... 3. And how soon can I start registering my baby haha sounds ridiculous I know.. but do I wait till baby is born or until I at least know the *** so we have a name picked out.. Thank you so much ladies, xxx

Honestly we found our landlords through expatwoman and the relationship has been amazing, I must say after renting directly from the landlord I wouldnt want to rent through an agent ever again. Best bet- you can put it on here (which you already have :D) and hopefully you can rent it through word of mouth. Please mention how much you are renting it for and I will spread the word, Im sure the rest of the ladies on here will do the same :) Goodluck- you sound like an awesome landlord! xx

Oh thank you!! :) Yeah we think the value of these villas will go up for sure specially if you compare to springs/meadows type and if you take the development they have planned for it in the future into consideration. Over 10 years ago springs/meadows was exactly like al furjan (middle of desert kind of thing) is now so I am pretty confident their value will go up if not by a lot then by enough to make it worth it- or so we hope! I agree with the not knowing how long we will be here for sure, but my folks moved here over 28 years ago for a 2 year stint and are still here! Not that I want to be here for another 28+ years but you never know with the rest of the world not looking so bright now.. Hopefully see you soon in the neighbourhood!

Hi brazilianindubai, I wish that was us haha! Well the only reason we haven't moved yet is we've gone from renting to deciding we want to buy the property which is why its taking a while! I guess if you see a pregnant couple and 2 dogs then thats us cause I will be definitely showing by the time we move from the looks of it. We stopped a lovely scottish lady with her dog the other day to ask her some info and before she spoke I was thinking ohhh maybe thats brazilianindubai! :D Fingers crossed we make the move very soon, cant wait to be in al furjan.

Hi, We are also looking at moving to Al Furjan very soon and have been looking into the area for a good month now, we have tested traffic at 5.45pm,6pm and around 6.30pm and to be honest its not that bad! Or maybe we love Al Furjan so much that we are so easily looking past the traffic issues. I think the townhouses are honestly the nicest Ive seen in Dubai, they are spacious and not built stupidly as some developers chose to build their houses. We are also looking at Type B which even though dont have the living room space upstairs, they have a very nice spacious shared bathroom and the rooms are a tiny bit bigger than a Type A or so we have been told.. I think its like a tile bigger or something! We also have 2 dogs and have seen loads of dogs being walked and even a parrot as a pet! I think the thing to note is that the potential for Furjan is immense if you are willing to be patient I guess... Goodluck!

Oh thank you so much! So after so much back and forth it seems we will not sign this MOU, seems very dodgy, there is a local owner, another guy who has the power of attorney who is actually selling this house and a wife somewhere that it is being sold for or something along those lines.. 3 different agents all trying to sell the same villa and one who has the title deed and the other claims to be the original agent with the only keys to this villa who says there is no title deed- even after we emailed it to him! This place is a joke seriously, we have been trying to buy a house for the past 2 weeks with no luck in cash- no one cares! It seems there are no serious sellers or serious agents.. and the prices keep going up every single day! We've made over 5 offers and all have been rejected and rebutted with higher prices, even though that wasn't the original price in the first place! :'( I also tried to ring Nakheel and no one was able to help me it seems, title deed is with land department peeps and you kinda need to be there it seems!

Yep seems like that is what we were going to do when a different agent came into the mix with the proposed title deed! haha so now just wondering if this title deed is legit. Our only concern was signing the MOU and waiting and eventually no title deed shows and the prices have gone up so much that we cant afford the houses anymore even with the penalty fees! Decisions decisions.. Meant to sign this evening and Land department cant do much without us being there physically.. so just need to either bite the bullet and sign and hope for the best or wait for a deal that might never come! ahhh

haha yes you are correct, best to make the buyers pay that them I guess LOL I see the logic, but scary to buy a property that has no title deed since u cant actually transfer without one..or so is my understanding... Will ring the land department and check :) You wouldnt happen to be selling a furjan 3 bed townhouse would you :D Thank you so much! x

Okay that sounds good, yes it seems like we are looking for a needle in a haystack here! It seems everyone has one and when you ask to see it, suddenly the stories start to come out of oh i applied but not yet etc. The type of property also says land and not villa, is that normal? arghh sorry for all the questions!

Hey! We usually just buy loads of blocks of ice when we want to use the pool which cools it down tremendously :D We found an ice company in al Quoz I think that delivers to your house, we usually get around 30 blocks of ice which in the middle of the summer melt super quickly so sometimes have got 40-50 big blocks of ice. Ill ask DH for number for you if you want. HTH

Ah great, DH is off to contact now :D Hmm our first concern was the low fence and we will probably have to do something about it as one of our dogs is a high jumper and in our current house we have quite high gates (just a bit less than 6ft) and he almost always jumps over when someone is passing by! Eeek the other one is quite lazy and can hardly get on the couch so she'll be fine hehe Ah the number, is it 056 or 055 or 050? Yeah it does get very hot during the summer and the problem with leaving the door open is it lets the hot air in and other insects etc..also we both work full time so cant really leave our door open during the day :s grrrr

Thank you so much! Can you please give me his number, the agent said he would let us know today but would be good to try all avenues and we did like the ones in the beginning! Haha good point re the deposit, what we usually do is just replace the sheet of glass back as it was before moving in hence hopefully so far getting our deposit back :)

Hi brazilianindubai, Thank you so much for your reply! That is so helpful and just what we wanted to hear, we quite like the Qurtaj style houses and have just put an offer this morning, fingers crossed :D I am so glad to hear there are other dogs in the area, perhaps we were there in times when they were not out. Do you have a dog door installed? We've always had one installed in all the houses that we lived in, wonder if it will an issue..:s So glad to hear you like living there, I feel we will too and I am really looking forward to the space in the house. Are you in Qurtaj or Dubai style? Thank you!

Thank you so much Chi2dxb, thats very helpful! Ah fingers crossed with the cheques thing, as it seems if they dont bend then we wont be able to move, will try our best to ask for 3-4 cheques and see what comes up :D If you or your family know anyone that wants to rent directly then that would even be better! We rent our current house directly from the landlords and cant tell you what a dream that is! Fingers crossed :) x

Don't see how mine and DH's financial circumstances has got anything to do with this. Once again, I'm being asked to justify my working when it has nothing to do with my question since baby would be asleep when and if we went out which would be the same if I worked or not. Am I supposed to sit by DD's crib watching her sleep every night because she is in nursery all day? Weird logic. I am hardly baring my soul here - I could dig out threads that would make the most openminded person blush. People discuss their husbands cheating, their intimate gynae problems and all sorts. I was never going to be a mumsy mum who sat in a floral Laura Ashley number, never wearing makeup and tutoring Tarquin and Persephone to get into Oxford aged 10. I'd rather be a fun mum who has a giggle with them. I want to look hot for my hubby, go to work as I love bantering with my colleagues and pulling in the b@con, and go out with my girlies every so often. I also want to take my baby to the zoo, do bedtime religiously, and play with her on her playmat. Being a mum doesn't mean being a martyr to domesticity - you don't win any prizes for being the world's best mum, they come in all shapes and sizes. Now you can catch me and DH having steak at Gaucho in a few months, I may even have a glass of red (clutches pearls). LOL sounds exactly like the kind of mum I want to be, Gaucho I hear is meant to be fab :D Enjoy!

i'll dare to say this again though last time I said it on here I got shot down in flames !! lol but we've never had babysitters for our two children and yes, as unbelievable as it is, I can count on one hand the number of nights out we had together without the children when they were small.. We took them with us and included them in everything we did...We only really picked our social life up once the eldest was about 13 or 14....Having said that I think an occasional night out does wonders for your marriage but once the baby is old enough to be left with a sitter - we just never wanted to do that..and in your case, yes I think baby is still too young to be left with a stranger... others will come on and say WTH you deserve to let your hair down, leave her with whoever you want, she won't notice !!! I believe she WILL and i'm afraid i'm with your husband on this one... And she is a few months old, what do you mean she will notice while she is sleeping?LOL..Seriously?

I'm not sure - possibly because the nursery is unavoidable and they are professionals who know CPR etc and I think he feels guilty that I have to work so we should be around all the remaining time. A date at home could work altho he will sit in his trackies and eat on the couch. Maybe if I light some candles and lay the table instead! Sorry for losing it but I'm sick of people making me feel guilty for working and wanting a life. I even get disapproving looks from the other mums at nursery whose kids go there for fun, not necessary childcare. I am setting a good example to my DD that women can be high achievers and she has no abandonment issues and is generally an extremely happy baby. We absolutely dote on her. I would love to know how those who[b'> can't bear to be parted from their children would feel if hubby lost his job and the burden was on them to go out to work.[/b'> You make it work, you cope, you do your best and you don't judge others. If hubby lost his job he would have to get another one, why would the burden switch to me ? Did you really just say that? Are you really in some form of la la land? I know LOADS of women who had to go back to work because their DHs lost jobs and couldnt find other jobs- I mean there are so many reasons why hubby couldnt just get another job and sometimes the burden does fall on the women to be the breadwinner but perhaps we know what kind of wife you are going to be!!

My mum found out she was adopted when she was 18 and to date has not really forgiven my grandma (she found out by seeing her birth certificate). Personally the earlier the better, we knew from a very young age that my grandma wasn't our biological grandma and we loved her just the same and nothing was different or weird at all. Good luck with everything, this is not easy but once you've told her, it will be easier for all. But please dont leave it to the teenage years or worse adulthood. xxx

Hi Suziegirl: We personally prefer to leave them at home where they already know their surroundings as opposed to kennels- our experience with kennels was not the best and our poor doggies were distressed when we picked them up. We usually either have friends staying over or the last time when we were away for 3 weeks over the Xmas holidays we got the Vets to do it, they have a pet sitting service where one of the nurses comes and lives in your house for the whole duration. It was cheaper than putting them in kennels and they were very happy to stay at home! Also I was very comfortable knowing that I left them in the hands of an experienced person who loved animals and in case of an emergency could act without hesitation. The vets we use are Safa vets in um suqeum. HTH xx

I do not believe that children should be seen and not heard although that comment should apply to some adults! Absolutely! I went to cirque du soleil last week and you'd be surprised how many adults were talking while the show was going on, another woman was having a fight with someone right behind me and screaming while the show was going on- the 5 year old kid sitting next to me though was a little angel munching on her nachos ;-)
