What do you do if she says she wants to keep it? :/ I'd say no. I've previously had a maid abscond and don't wish to repeat the headache. On that occasion immigration weren't impressed that our maid had her passport. If we go away we leave our maids passport at my husband's work so it can be taken to her if she has an emergency. Thank you Daza!

My DD (now 5) went into nursery from 6 months and I've never regretted it. She always loved nursery and is now loving school. For me I needed her to be around other babies/children rather than with a nanny. I felt more relaxed at work knowing she was in the company of other kids and adults. Everyone is different though. Just figure out what is best for you. My 2nd will be going to the same nursery with the same staff in January when she is 6 months just the same as the DD. Good to hear good stories and no horror stories! Do you mind if I ask whats the name of the nursery your little ones go to?

Thank you ladies for sharing your experiences! @sabrina123- your post makes me feel a bit better.. so was he okay in terms of someone looking after while at nursery? Cause mine needs 2 people realistically running off behind him otherwise hes falling over and eating all sorts of things that he discovers along the day.. hence the concern with the 3-1 ratio :/ Hi 2dogs, my son was the same but remember he'll be in a baby proof play room as oppose to a household where he can climb or bang onto anything. Also, he'll either be following what his peers do so playing with them or being entertained by the teachers so won't have as much time to think about getting into mischief! Have you had a look at any yet? I'd go and visit a couple so you get a feel of the environment to put your mind at ease You are right, will go and have a look before panicking! Thank you though.. you have put my fears slightly at ease for now! Its very hard deciding what is best for your little one when you cant be at home with them.. :(

Ahh this could be me posting this to be honest.. have really been struggling to find someone too!! We also have 2 dogs and a baby and I think that does put most of them off :/ Apart from the obvious the 2 most annoying things is not showing up to interviews and asking where I am from the second I ring them.. a bit ridiculous that I have to be interviewed on the phone before I can even ask 2 questions about them! Anyone know of any agencies that can help? x There are lots of agencies here but you have to be willing to pay a lot in agency recruitment fees. I have just heard that they are charging 16,000 for Indonesians now. Sri Lankans have a recruitment fee of 9000. Blimey! Is that including visa costs?

So is it possible that we have my due date wrong by the scan? or does the scan due date trump last period dates.. and is this me just trying to find reasons why the scan said my baby was 3 weeks ahead haha The first scan's estimate of gestational age is going to be the most accurate. Their development is very predictable during the first trimester and measurements are generally really accurate. 2nd and 3rd trimester estimates of size are frequently off because babies grow at different rates at that point and accurate measurements are more difficult to get. Thank you Meagle, I was scanned at 6 weeks I thinks so it should be pretty accurate! :)

So was having a think last night and realised the following: 1. The first day of my last period was Feb 13th- based on that my due date would be Nov 20 and I am actually 36 weeks. 2. When I went to the docs at first, my due date was recalculated to Dec 4th and hasnt really changed since based on babies size etc and that makes me 34 weeks now. The reason for the discrepancy at the time we thought was because I have PCOS which means that I never actually know when I ovulate. So is it possible that we have my due date wrong by the scan? or does the scan due date trump last period dates.. and is this me just trying to find reasons why the scan said my baby was 3 weeks ahead haha

Oh thank you ladies! Well to be fair to the doc, he is really pro natural and has said all these things IF the baby continues to grow so big. I personally will also opt for a natural for sure and would love to make it to 40 weeks.. so fingers crossed. Good to know the measurements arent 100% and that chances of a natural delivery at 40 weeks is still a possibility :) xx

Hi Ladies, Just curious for all those of you who went on maternity leave, at what weeks did you start your maternity? I am going to start my maternity at 35 weeks and 4 days and just wondering is that too early? or sounds about right? I am already completely swollen now at 33 weeks and finding it increasingly difficult to sit at work to be fair (i have a desk job from 9-6pm).. thanks for your input! xx

Yeah that's what I thought when did some calculations, we already pay 1.5K for our part time who comes 3 times a week so that plus nursery cost (although the nurseries I was looking at were 4.5-5K a month) it came out to a ridiculous amount when you can combine the cost of live in help and pay only 2K and set up cost is just once. One piece of advice I can give is always do it through an agency who will bring them over and be held liable for any issues that arise, that is what my folks always did for over 27 years, because the second there is an issue, you just call the agency and they will speak to them and sort it out for you-plus you dont have to worry about taking care of all the paper work I dont think! Goodluck with that, Ill watch this space for sure.. depending on how nursery goes for us...

That's good to hear, glad you've got a good experience with them! My parents live here, so idea is to split time between my ma and nursery as not to over burden her :/ For the maid/nanny, does it work out to be cheaper when you've got 2 little ones than sending both to nursery.. I think cost wise its probably cheaper to have home help than nursery for sure.. tough one to be honest..Any idea how you will sort out ur home help? x

Oh brilliant! All sounds good and yes KV is literally across the road from me so that would work for us! Thank you so much for your detailed response so good to hear that that works for you better than a stay at home maid/nanny.. I mean we are not entirely comfortable with a maid/nanny to be live in and to be honest we dont have space at home anyway :/ Another question re the nursery, what r the timings that your DD does and is it 5 days a week? Thank you!! :)

My husband had to do it last year for his passport and just got someone in our office to sign who's title was basically a sales assistant.. doesnt have to be a doctor or lawyer or any of that! And yes they need to be residents in Dubai. My hubby can do it for you if you want, but really anyone with a british passport resident in Dubai can do it irrespective of profession from what I understood. Goodluck!

Hi Lovely ladies! I''m 21 weeks pregnant now and off to the UK for a long weekend and wanted to know is there anything I should be bringing back with me from the UK instead of buying it here or cant find it here? Would really appreciate all your suggestions as I am so lost on what I might need/not need etc. For example I know you cant get calpol and gripe water here (i think)... is this something I should be bringing back with me now? What about pushchair? Am I better off getting one here? As you can see I have a million questions :( Any direction/help much appreciated! X

Eating shellfish, as long as it's fresh and properly cooked, shouldn't be a problem. Hardly something I would call 'risky behaviour'...unlike say scuba diving or taking drugs. I would be seriously ****** off if a 'friend' made such judgemental comments about what I ate or drank during pregnancy, as if I'm not a responsible adult capable of making my own decisions. It's bad enough when the waiter at a restaurant asks if I want my (occasional, single shot) latte as decaf, and then shakes his head disapprovingly when I say no! haha grrrr tell me about it- I was offered to drink water between my super slow sips of my mini glass of wine.. I took 2 sips and just stopped as felt uncomfy! My mum in law said something which is so true, our little ones are like leeches- they have incredible survival skills bless them :D

Oh it also depends on what health practitioner you ask.. my doc's exact words were: you want wine? Drink wine.. once a week is fine.. every day not so much, find a balance! And that's his answer to every single thing I ask him if I can do.. he will laugh and say yes of course just use common sense, wash your food and make sure your food is well done! Another doctor told me I basically couldn't do anything and had to sit still while this baby was forming!

Honestly like Daza mentioned, pregnant women get judged on every single thing they do- including what they can and not eat, what they can and not do and even where they can and not be! She is obviously an adult and knows the risks of everything she does so that's all that matters-end of the day its her body and her child on the line! I have heard from pregnant women who have smoked, drank alcohol and eaten all the raw food they wanted and their kids are just fine- not to say that is the correct thing to do and that there are no risks but you meet all sorts of people and unfortunately not everyone likes to follow the rules all the time! What to do eh! :/ Perhaps mention it once in passing- sort of a did you know if not good to eat shellfish all the time kind of thing.. but snitching to her hubby would not be good at all!

I guess sorry you got your period but amazing that now at least you know what you would like! There is exactly a one year difference between me and my sister so I guess mum literally didnt wait at all after having me.. and although it was challenging for the first few years (doable with help for sure!).. mum swears by how easy it got later on. Plus my sis and I are like twins now and are grateful mum had us to close together :)

Yep - I got this around your stage, nose blocked up all the time! Weird huh! Don't worry you are in the 2nd trimester now so things should start looking up - bursts of energy, bouncy hair, you can officially start shopping and you can travel! Yalla get down the mall - sales are on! Haha as soon as I was no longer tired and actually had energy to go out again, I fell ill! I used to be out every weekend with a drink in hand, now I'm clogged up and at home in PJs spitting phlegm every 20 minutes! Just charming lol Not so glad you had to go through it because it sucks but good to know its normal for this period, off to get my saline drops :D

Sounds like you've got one of the unspoken pregnancy symptoms: extra congestion. [url=http://www.pregnancy-info.net/rhinitis.html'>link[/url'> Best you discuss with your doc just to be safe. edited by Meagle on 11/06/2013 Oh Meagle, I've come to realise there are so many unspoken pregnancy symptoms that no one tells you about lol.. thank you I have an appointment in a week and a half, if it doesnt go by then i will mention it.. will stick to rubbing vicks and hot drinks then xx You can use saline nasal drops I find they are great for blocked noses and help lubricate the passages. Thank you I will :)

Okay apologies in advance but a bit of a disgusting post.. I am 15 weeks pregnant and have had a cold for the last 2 weeks (Throat ache, runny nose, headache, body ache, ears blocked and watery eyes), after a week or so the only symptoms left are the blocked nose and blocked ears- now I still sound nasal when I speak. I guess my question is it normal because now I find very sticky mucusy phlegm stuff that keeps coming out and its kind of stuck in my throat until it eventually comes out and I spit it out.. ew i know :( So all I keep doing is unblocking my ears and blowing my nose and spitting out sticky phlegm.. Also I not immune to toxoplasmosis so now I am panicking that my cold like symptoms are actually a sign that I am infected? Eeek Thanks in advance and sorry about the disgusting post :D xx

In fact if you're anything like me, you will get a weird pleasure out of the organisation that is required to run a tight ship on the home and work front!! hahahaha yes I am a planner if nothing else and you are right I think if you just give yourself enough time to plan all of it then it should be fine.. or one can only hope :D Thank you for the words of support DB, very encouraging indeed!
