I'm due to give birth any day now in Dubai and then we are hoping to travel home to Australia on the 23rd of December with the baby. My husband is an Australian Citizen and I'm an Australian PR. According to the Australian consulate and all the official advice on various government websites, to get Baby her Aus passport, we first need to obtain her Citizenship Certificate, which takes between 59 days to 4 months (!!!!) then apply for her passport, which will take 3 weeks, and then her UAE visa which can take another week. Obviously this timeline means we'll miss spending Christmas, and my entire maternity leave for that matter, at home! However, I know that in reality, these timelines can often be speeded up and I was wondering if there are any Aussie families who went through the process with their newborns here, and how long did it take? Was there anything that could be done to speed up the process??? 1. Was your husband born in AU? If not, ie he is Australian by certification, your child will only be eligible for nationality if born in AU. 2. The AU embassy here is quite prompt. 3. As soon as your baby is born send your husband to get the birth certificate asap as it requires translation. Call the embassy and get the exact details. The passport side is fast. But maybe nationality will take lonher. Ensure all of your husband's necessary docs are ready for prompt use.

You want to see the older generation here! Our 'local' is packed to the hilt with those local over the border smoking, drinking and eating during daylight hours. Its no different from ome locals to expats that are disrespecting the traditions. Are you being amusing? "The non-halal Ramadan loan you've been craving all day!"... OP, it has always been like that. There've always been people who don't follow the rules unless the police are there. I wouldn't consider it a sign of things to come. They have all of the non-fasting areas now - that will keep people happy. The only unhappy people will be smokers and the voice of the world is against smokers. Ramadan is a big local spend-time as people spend up to go to overpriced buffets and eat more than usual - I doubt it will ever be something residents do not have rules for as they are not like tourists.

It's time for you ladies to make yourselves aware of UAE labour laws. Delaying payment and non-payment of salaries is a violation of labour laws. If salaries are more than 10 days late, you can make an official complaint and the company will be blocked from making transactions. http://www.khaleejtimes.com/nation/new-uae-decree-employee-wages-paid-within-10-days-of-due-date I am aware of this and still give the same advice. The only security one should assume could protect them is an obese savings. Anyrhing else is a hope. I would be happy to say that is a guarantee but I, like beebers, have heard nore stories of employers absconding than I have of them righting their wrongs. Step one would be your husband approaching the employer and ssying that the salary must be paid on time. If the employer starts to babble then tell them the law. If it is not rectified immediately then make the complaint. ... but i would still be looking for a new employer.

As beebers suggested, it is time for your DH to look for a new job - anywheds in the world. I have still not been paid by 2 companies I worked for over the past however many years and both companies closed so recovery was never going to be possible. In my experience, companies don't hit speed bumps and fix up, they hit walls and avalanch to the ground. Secure yourself before you end up in more debt. And make a complaint to MOL that yo7 havent been paid so it has been documented.

If you have no working contract then technically you are not employed by them. I would advise looking for a better paying full time engineering job. Data entry can be tough to come across and requires perfect basic English skills.

Parents raise children, not 'Dubai'. In my years here I have seen kids raised by parents who acted as though they were young, single expats (kids negativedly affected), those who were miserable and negative about everything here (kids negatively affected), marriages break down because one party took to the euphoria of single-life in Dubai (kids negatively affected), families who took on a learning journey together - kids being a part of the learning discussions (kids positively affected). How you and your husband have faced and taken part in this journey will affect their hapiness.

Not the best market to change career paths in. Ask a uni grad how easy it is to get a job without a relevant cv. Nurses get paid very little here and really do work so hard. I have so much respect for nurses, and all who i have met here are still so caring. If yoy want to work here why not apply for admin at a clinic? Ramadan success is by chance/luck. But if you apply for admin you night be fortunate this year as a lot of families are leaving so housewives jobs will become available. By partnee you mean busband, right? And he is sponsoring you? Irll be harder to get a low leverl job if you also need a company visa.

If you want to offer your service to companies who hold a Dubai (Abu Dhabi etc) you have to get a trade license from DED and you will require an office. fz licenses are cheaper and only require a virtual office but you can only offer your service to other FZ companies. Internet City might have a reasonable sized market foe you. I am not a consultant, I just have 15 plus years of market rxperience and would say: - most people doing what you want to do take a book of contacts with them for their first jobs - check your competition as there are MANY Dubai business advisors so ensure you have a good key strength - select the FZ where your service can be offered to a lot of companies, preferably MNCs as many FZ companies are small and have no intention to onvest in an add on service

Why are you not taking meds? You shoukd at least be seeing a physio w=kly to keep your body strong. That aside... You can be yhe main sponsor, MS doesnt mean you cannot work here. There are tho I sands of people here with MS and other autoimmune diseases. Your only aet back would be the cost of medicine as that medicine is expensive and itd be hard to get insurance to cover even a reasonable amo I bt of the cost.

Wait til youre here, as you have decided. This form of distant job search/phone interviews suits individuals who cannot come without a job rather than those who will be here job or not. At least set yourself up here fordt and get to know the areas and how people are here. Youre coming into a very different market than the one youre in. At least learn to change your accent to make it understandable and train your ears to understand other accents before jumping in. And yes - job market at this time is highly, highly competitive. Do an extra tafe course in a brand new and developed area before you cone so you dis to inguish tourself from the other candidates with something fresh and new to offer.

I think they are being snoopy and possibly racist. If you arent here yet and havent been you nay not have heard this question: But where are you REALLY from? If you hold a British, US or Australian passport but have a non-western name or dont have fair features (hair, eyes, skin) you "just have the passport but arent really from there". It may annoy you at first but all of my friends who have gone through it do not pay attention to it any longer. Tell them you do not have and cannot get the copy but if they provide a written request from the government departmenr requesting it then you can give that to the UK dept of naturalization and see what they can do.

I h ave needed my birth certificate twice only whilst here. In both situations it had to do with details required re my parents. If you were not born a UK cotizen and your country of birth has no traceable birth record then suvmission of your natualization certificate ahould be suffice. If you are a born Brit then it is really easy to get a copy of your birth certificate from UK.

For a new graduate there are limited to no job proslects here. A number of NQ lawyers are in paralegal roles. As a non-Arab expat you can only ever be a legal advisor rather than a jnr or snr lawyer so you cannot represent xlients in court. If your heart is set on UAE then get at least 2 years PQ experience under your belt.

Get your husband to be to go down to Dubai Court and ask there or you can call, although it will be faster if he does it. As a national of UAE your children are highly unlikely to face rights-related issues as the governme takes very good care of the nationals. And you, as an expat married to a national, can now get health insurance from Saada so that will not cause a visa issue. I guess i would say the main concern you would face is when you have children if the marriage breaks down. Because it is expensive to live here and you would have to pay your own bills after the first divorced year it may be "to expensive to leave". Unlike couple from the same country who this happens to, when you marry somone from here, here really is home for your children and so you have to stay. Re visa renewal: you dont need a medical test each time. Get a driver and he can take all your husband's things and yours and renew it. Without a driver it is easy too though. As you and your kids get older you may not care so much about your nationality and will choose to change it for practical reasons.

You can get married in the court here. I dont remember the exact process but i signed something in Arabic and later went to the court. I got married in my country first though and we had to get our English marriage certificate translated and attested as usual. Emiratis have a book called a family book. Your kids will go into it so they are officially Emirati. He doesnt HAVE to put you in it but if he does you will go at the back for 4 years afterwhich you can apply for nationality and will move to the front of the book. If he is not yet married or has never been then he will still be in his father's book. There is no such thing as a permanent visa. He can get a residence visa for you and will have to renew it every 3 years.

What are you good at? People with no or little investment money use their skills and abilities to make money. For some that means tutoring, for others baking cakes, for others cleaning houses... everyone is good at something. Look for others who are also good at it and start a business together.

I decided to use supermart.ae this week and they are really good. Their product range is wide and then come in good time which is good. They have a range of different prices products too. And they called me to make sure I was happy and said I have an assigned grocery manager who can help me. Sounds really good so far. So I will recommend them to anyone looking for online grocery shopping in Dubai. No, I don't work for them. Just had a good experience and want others to know about them as I noticed they haven't pumped stacks of marketing cash into popping up on all of my browsers.

You need someone skilled who understands the need to keep her body moving to prevent bedsores. This is not a long term solurion, bur if you need someone good then why not have her admitted in Rashid Hospital while you look? She would have full care. She would be in a shared ward with other bed rodden patients. When you say young if you mean over 21 then this is an option. And you can ask the nurses there if they know any professionals looking for work. I wish you all the luck in the world finding someone.

I had a similar slam a few years ago, money wise, due to a changed bank account and salary delays. We had 0 dirham to last 3 weeks. We got through, my DD was potty trained overnight out of necessity but we learnt a lot and learnt how much 1 dirham was worth. I switched from a 4000K weekly budget to a 100AED weekly budget because i learnt to value money. This is not helpful but just a thought: have you gotten stuck in a just safe spot and needed a shake up? It happens. You think you could not survive but then are forced to. Your dh may change the amount he wants as a wage and get the job because he knows he can survive. And things are back at that time again. Non payment is the norm and many companies will close. So by learning exacrlt what you need, by being forced to learn, you will start a new path. In the meantime, offer the people who owe you money a payment plan to pay you off or say if they pay by National Day they can avail a 25 percent discount. Lose to gain.

Non payment is the way things seem to be. I gave up on 3 payments last year and wrote the conpanies off as they will soon meet their demise here. How much do you need, at least? The lesson here is mever be nice. But for now you need to keep your head above water. I would offer the twnant a low price settlement for x months as he packs to vacate. Azk what he CAN pay this month and take it. Also ask what je can afford for nwxt month and tell him to pay ot. But tell him this is a 60 day eviction notice. You will lose but at least your property can be back on the market and in 2 mths get that annual paymemt and learn... and save your back. Tell the tenant that to accept this deal he must ofdicially send by post a letter of contract termination and you will respond with an official letter stating that you accept his request to terminate and that he has 2 months to vacate. Call RERA and seek their free advice ovee the phone as well.

My DD had something like this. We spent a day in Latifa hospital in the end due to a heavy drop in her blood sugar levels. After the glucose drip for a day she was still lethargic and crampy for a couple of days with fever but within 3 days she was back to her uzual self. Head to Latifa. They are excellent.

I would not consider anywhere but Latifa. But it does not suit everyone. You will not even begin your package until you are 20 werks. At that time you will go to a government clinic and fo all normal tests and later begin going to Latifa. Appointments are far between ans you WILL ALWAYS be waiti g long after the appointment time for your doc visit. You will see a new doc each time. So uo until borth, other clinics probably have fat better packages. But once your baby is on his way and it is all go at the hospital, they are brilliant. If you can get a private suite they are excellent. Latifa is lso the best ICE.

19K is more than enough, even with a child. One child is not so expensive. I feel bad busgeting will force you back to work. It is fine to spend 10K on groeries... 20K... 30K... IF that is your budget. Setting slightly over half your income on geoceries tells me that you are setting whatever you want and not budgeting at all. There are many mum budget sites with helful tips, including using water and face washers rather than the more expensive, less earth friendly wipes. If you buy pampers from Life Pharmacy they are cheaper and there are often deals on. Shop at coop and get a tamaywz card for more aavings. Recwption work these days is more like 6k a month or 10k if you have BBA. You can save as much as youf make allowing you to sray home with your child.

I was studying at UOWD when they finally received their MOE accreditation. For locals it officially meant their degree was government recognised. But when you graduate, you get the choice of having a UOW Australia or UOWD degree. The former needs all of the official attestation to be recognisef here, the latter can be validated by the ministry in Abu Dhabi.

These are lovely things to remember when raising children. But one cannot certainly raise a genius, all children have different skills and strengths. Some children are born switched on to what school dictates to be admorable or g2nius qualities. The dux of my school was so very smart, his brother from the same upbringing was ridiculously troubled mentally so would never be able to reach the same targets.

Let me add... there are 2 types of cases. 1 provate w public For private cases it is the accuser vs accused... jail is not M outcome. In these cases ot is more a case of recovery. In public, the accuser will not be involved unless called by the defense as this case will now be between the state and the accused and jail can be the outcome, not recovery. If it public please refer to the earlier reply for the process.

Step 1. The accused will go to jail. NOTE. Someone will be able to bail them out by aubmitting their passport as a guarantee that the bailee does not run. Step 2. A court date will be set and the case will go on trial before the court. Step 3. The accuser must show with proof that the accused is guilty. Step 4. The accused will have a lawyer to defend them and prove they are innocent. They will rebut what the accuser says. Step 5. The court will decide based on both representations whether there is guilt. Step 6. If the accused is found guilty they will go to jail and serve their time. Please note... many innocent people make out of court settlements when they cannot afford a lawyer and simply want the accuser to stop. The accuser will not gain financially from the guilt unless the court orders compensation.
