I would say "go for it"!! Life in the now and do what makes you happy. I do think there is quite some time before we see Qatar and if the call comes, then they certainly would not expect you to drop everything and run. I am sure they would allow some time for you to organize everything to get there, including clueing up the job you are in.

what did u see on the MOI site? Did it say your visa was "being processed"? Although I am not at that stage, I have looked, but it says "Visa not found". Just curious as to what someone being processed would find.

Any news on the visa RRTNICU? Did u know that you can check on your status on the Ministry of the Interior (MOI-Qatar) website? Under e-servies and then small small above the "box" choices, "visas and enquires", takes you to another page...visa approval or tracking (or something similar) One asks for application date, but another choice will allow you to search by nationality and passport #. Hopefully some news soon...for both of us!

I only had one interview, but I have heard of some others having 2, but I believe every case is different. There are a number of forms to be filled out prior to an interview, including disclosing your income, but the request for income verification is at their discretion. I was not required to provide it. edited by abby86 on 23/03/2015

H Wonder, Movement on your status is always good, but the process is very very slow. I applied last April, and am a year later still waiting for paperwork to be finalized for a relocation.

That is fabulous, 2 months...wow! As you know, my wait has been relentless, so some news soon would be great !! Not sure how the process works as my contract was signed 5 months ago and I am still waiting and you signed just 2 months ago and already have a license. Nice to see things are moving though...

I am soo hoping to hear soon, it's been a very long 4 months, and I am starting to wonder if there is an issue with my file... edited by abby86 on 19/03/2015 edited by abby86 on 19/03/2015

Anyone have any experience using the new portal for correspondence? It says it is a dedicated system for prompt replies, yet I have been waiting over a week for an answer to a query. I assumed it was up and running already but maybe not.

Hi Kathy My police clearance will be expired soon too, and when I asked about getting a new one (wanting to get started on that asap since it takes a while) I was told I that I would need one, but to not proceed until they have my visa approved. My advice to you is to also wait on any time sensitive papers, so that you do not run the risk of having them expire again before you need them. I do not plan to do anything else until I am instructed, including uploading anything to the portal.

Hi Kathy, I did not use a recruiter, and am dealing with HR directy so I also receieved this e-mail on Saturday. I was also impressed, but not impressed that I may have to upload and resend everything AGAIN. Especially when I am so far into the process now...or at least think so anyway. I believe that there is also some bigger issues with the scope of practice for RT's right now and maybe slowing things down. Sometimes seems like it will never happen :(

The site showed that my verification report for all credentials was completed Dec 17. At first I was very excited to see this, but I have since discovered that this report is produced by a 3rd party for the SCH. It's part of the process but it is not until this report is complete that the evaluation for a license begins. Verification and License are listed as two separate processes, after which comes the visa process. In all, a very long wait.....and hopefully worth it in the end!

I believe the opening will be longer than that, maybe a year or more, so the wait yet might still be significant, and as such some relocations have been halted. I was told my position was still in fact a go and all they are waiting on is the liscence and visa, just when that happens is the big question. But at this point, nothing would surprize me. Patience is a virtue, almost a test to see how badly you want to go! You can also search qatar council of health professionals and search to see if you're listed in the licensed registry. Sadly, I am not there yet! And on the main page of the SCH website, if you look around for the links to primary source verification, you can check the status of your data flow check. edited by abby86 on 28/02/2015 edited by abby86 on 01/03/2015 edited by abby86 on 01/03/2015

Hi Kathy Thanks for the reply. I submitted ALL of my documents (including everything needed for the visa) long before Christmas, so there is nothing that they are waiting on from my end. I was also told that I would be notified once a license is approved and before they submit for a visa, but nothing yet. A visa may take another 3-4 weeks or even longer. I am hoping it's all being taken care of behind the scenes and one day a visa will magically appear!! edited by abby86 on 12/02/2015

Not sure if the ILS requirement only applies to nurses. I have my CPR (BCLS) as well as Pediatric advanced AND Neonatal advanced courses. My understanding is that they only require the BCLS. Haven't heard anything to the contrary....yet

Yes and that's just for the registration, application for visa not even submitted yet. Once it's out of Sidra's hands its at the mercy of the Government for approval, and timelines given are only estimates.

All my paperwork was submitted for lisencing approval more than 3 months ago, and I am still waiting. It is only after that approval that a visa application can even be submitted which can take another 2-6 weeks or longer. It is quite the process for sure!

I know of someone moving in a few weeks. She has her ticket and date. Apparently they move people on Sunday, and work starts on Wed. This allows for a rest upon arrival and a short first workweek. Have known a few on here that have gone, but nothing from them since.

Yes I believe that's right, it's the licence that takes the longest. I actually just had an update that they are still waiting for the approval and once that comes the visa should be very quick. Thanks for your reply.

@Seahorse77 I am still waiting it has been forever Have you completed your paperwork? I am waiting for my diploma to be authenticated and then I'm all set for a date. I was told it doesn't take long at all to get the entry visa. My target date is sometime in January, but I don't have a date. Just wondering if your profession requires a licence and if so how long that took? You say you;re waiting for your diploma to be authenticated, but do you already have your visa or was this a requirement for a visa? I have submitted all of my paper for a license and have been waiting now about a month. I have been told that once that is approved, then they apply for a visa and I can choose a relocation date. I too am aiming for mid January. Thanks

Hi Ladies, I thought I'd share my experiences so far. This process is VERY long, and yes patience is required at every step of the way. I applied for this job in May, was interviewed in June and did not hear anything else until mid August when they told me I was successful. It then took several more weeks (maybe months) until I received an offer. After some negotiation, and more waiting, we came to an agreement and I accepted. It was then another 1-2 weeks (?sometime in Sept) until I received the list of what else was required, which I have finally completed. Involved requesting documents and then sending to foreign affairs/embassy for authentication (another lengthy process). Now it's the long wait for the visa to be processed, possibly another 6-8 weeks. So I would suggest to plan "as if" without doing anything official like selling a house or resigning until you get to the final stage of having your visa approved....and believe me there are PLENTY of hoops to jump through to get to that point. I am not there yet, but I believe once it is approved, they ask you when you are able to relocate, and are flexible if you need several weeks to organize your affairs. As for the hospital not being open, they are bringing people over now for the startup and planning that needs to be done, and I am in one of those positions. My manager has actually been there since earlier this year. As for staff positions, I am not sure if there will be actual work until the opening, something to ask about in the interview. Bottom line.....patience is a HUGE part of the process and things seem to happen at a snail's pace, but they do happen. edited by abby86 on 06/11/2014

Hello ladies. I received an invitation for screening test for the administrative assistant post 2 days back. My interview is on 29th of this month.. It's my 1st interview & I am really worried sick about that. does anyone know what kind of questions they may ask? Just try and relax, and be yourself!! If you've gotten this far...they're already impressed and the interview is to get to know you better and to see if you're a good fit for the organization. Without getting into anything specific, you can be assured of a questions like "why Sidra?" and how you will deal with the differences in culture (especially if you are coming from a western country). General interview questions.... tell us about yourself, example of conflict and how you handle, how well you work in a group...etc, and more specific questions related to your profession. Good Luck!! edited by abby86 on 25/10/2014

Great info...thanks for sharing!! The DFAIT website said "if an original was required then it had to come from the RCMP headquarters in Ottawa", so from that, I read that it was the only type of "original" they would accept. But I called them and was told that they will accept others as long as they were notorized. I then spoke to a very helpful person at the embassy who said as long as it was stamped by DFAIT, they would attest it. So I think I am safe to send off what I have. Thanks again. Abby
