How do you pull up the old thread? I tried "search posts" and nothing came up. I had hoped to print them out also, but never got around to it. My two favourites were the lady looking for a laxative who was told "that's what all the jelly ladies say" when she said that it was not for weight loss, and the lady who mistakenly bought suppositories and was greeted with a shrieking "you need more suppositwees?" when she went back to the pharmacy. Every so often I will think of them and still laugh (as does my husband!).

Fascinating. I wonder if there was ever any follow-up with those kids later? Great teacher.

Hello! Used to live in Dubai but the Downtown area wasn't finished when we left hence this question......can you recommend a child-friendly (he is 5) place to view the Dubai Fountains after an early evening visit up Burj Khalifa? We are flying in from Muscat to meet family flying in from UK and would prefer somewhere reasonably casual where we can have a glass of grape! Would Souk Al Bahar be best? TIA! The Mango Tree restaurant at Souk Al Bahar has a balcony overlooking the fountains. It's Thai food and you should make a reservation and request the balcony.

Hi, Kypster. I don't know where the computer souq is, but there is a place in the port area that has replacement parts for various electrical items, including computers. Directions: from Corniche road head to Port. Turn left (toward Toys R Us). After the second roundabout, it's the fifth road on the right. Building on corner says "Panatech", that is the service center. www.techserveuae.com phone 02 633 3576 Hope that helps.

Organic Cafe has Oat Bran, add some fat free yoghurt and fresh Vanilla and if you like it a little sweet use a bit of REPLAZE! My friends lost lots of weight with the Dukan Diet!! edited by Sibille on 22/01/2012 Sibile, is the yogurt Greek? I have found fat free, and organic Greek, but not fat free Greek Yogurt. I follow Fighter Diet lifestyle and missing my f/f Greek :( Beebers - I found "fat-free authentic Greek yoghurt" called "Total 0%" from a company called FAGE at Spinney's in Abu Dhabi - maybe Spinney's in Dubai would also have it? Now if I could just find oat bran - all the stores I've been to are out of stock.

My favourites were both from "Overheard at McDonalds" - the lady at the pharmacy who needed a laxative being directed to diet products because as a "jelly lady" she didn't want to be "poo farting and wetting" herself, and another pharmacy one where the lady was screamed at about wanting more "supposatwees". I still laugh out loud when I think of them and DH still (affectionately) calls me a jelly lady when I complain about gaining weight.

Hi busybee:) saw this post thanks to Leen who sent me this link! I was wondering, do you have the location/phone number of this place. I would love to go and check it out. Thanks so much:) Hi, dimple28. I used Khalidya curtains also. Great job, really fast. I have several phone numbers for them. I'll put them all here, as I'm not sure which is correct. I dealt with Mr al Turkani there. The numbers I have are: 02 634 3859, 02 445 7085 and 050 615 8817 ( think the 050 number is Mr al Turkani's mobile) They are located on 5th between 26th St and 22nd. If you are on the Corniche heading toward Marina Mall, turn left onto 26th St. Go to the first light (Qatar Airways on left corner) and turn left onto 5th St (not sure if it's called Hamdan St at that point or not). At next light you will see All Prints on right corner. Park around there, Khalidya Curtains is on 5th, same side of street as All Prints, several doors down.

Second the Sheikh Zayed mosque in AD, guided tour at 10:00, very interesting question & answer time after If you go to Al Ain, drive up Jebel Hafeet for view, Hotel Mercure at top for lunch, at bottom is Green Muzabarra (sp?) very green colored hot springs Also in AD - on Yas Island you can drive go karts and possibly race car on the F1 racetrack (haven't done it, read about it) in AD - 747 jet flight simulator at Al Bateen Airport 02 412 2222 (haven't done this yet either) AD - Falcon Hospital - really interesting Sharjah - the Museum of Islamic Civilization is really interesting www.islamicmuseum.ae Sharjah - Al Mahatta Museum - 06 573 3079 it' a musuem all about the history of aviation in Sharjah. They have some old airplanes you can go into and a great film from the 1930's showing the daily life at the airport back then (we had to ask for the film to be shown) If your Dad is really into aviation there are a lot of old airplane parts and related stuff, there is a section on modern flight, then a whole wing which is basically a commercial for Air Arabia so you can skip that part. Ajman - museum/fort

Has anyone suggested the camel markets in Al Ain-I love going there-and the zoo is a must question for you: is there a camel auction or something more "organised" at the camel market? I went once with my parents and basically drove around looking at the camels. My parents got out to take a few pictures and were accosted by men demanding money. Another time took sister in law and we didn't get out of the car, again just drove around. We saw tour busses of people who just seemed to wander around. So I wonder if there is a better way to visit? So many people recommend it that I think I must be doing something wrong.

Tour of the Grand Mosque is quite interesting, they provide abayas and shaylas - you can take pictures of your girls in them for their class "presentation". Falcon Hospital is very interesting, they have the falcons fly to your hand (they give you a thick glove) and you can watch them be operated on and wake up from their anasthesia. Indoor skydiving at Abu Dhabi Health & Fitness Club (I think it might be also called AD Country Club). Really cool - no actual diving, you are held up by a rush of air. Kayaking in the mangroves edited to add: the Falcon Hospital thing is not gory or ****** or anything, lol - it's an interesting tour. We actually learned a lot there. edited by adpat on 09/02/2011

Location: If you go out 32nd Street heading away from the Corniche, go to 11th Street and do a U-turn. Shortly before you get to 9th Street there is an ADNOC station on the right. (There is a sign for it but it's mostly covered by tree branches so very difficult to see. There is a sign for the Post Office. ) Turn right at the ADNOC station and then take the first left turn (there is a boys' school at the corner). It will be on the left side - Advanced Cure Diagnostic Center, but it might just say Cure on the building (I can't remember). There is street parking available. There is a map on their website www.cure.ae. I saw Dr Sawsan, there is also another female gynecologist.

Falcon Hospital between Abu Dhabi and Dubai is really interesting. Grand Mosque tour is fascinating, I think it starts at 10:00, they provide abayas and shaylas. If you get there later you can wander around yourself, except Friday. At the Corniche they have "taxis" that look like golf carts that go up and down the Corniche. Also there you can rent bikes and those lowrider pedal things the local kids ride around on (I have no idea what they're called) Between 26th and 2nd along the Corniche road (other side of the road from the water) is the family park where there is a skateboard area (on the weekend lots of kids showing off there) and a cute little water spray play area for little ones.

In Hanoi the Sofitel is lovely. In Saigon the Majestic is really nice. I was told the Caravelle has had quite a few big tour groups, if that's true, not so great. If you get a chance, there is a fun motorcycle tour of Saigon. I can't remember the name of the company but if you look on Tripadvisor it should be there.

That sounds like an American twin size - 39 inches wide (about 100 cm). do Pottery Barn or Crate and Barrell have American size sheets? If not, maybe you could order through their catalogues?
