Hi HobbitGirl, I am sorry but my first response would be no, I don't think this is a great place for teenagers for lots of different reasons that maybe is not for here to discuss, but mainly it is a quite boring place. That said there are of course other teenagers around and I know that a few of them are quite happy at ASD ( the American school) where there seems to be lots of stuff to do after school and they have proms and all that. But I don't have teenagers so hopefully the ones that do can give a better answer than me. All the best!

Try Spinney's perhaps? Organic stuff in general is not that easy to come by here.

Hi Kiwispiers, I am not sure if there is a metro stop by the Fly Dubai terminal, the terminal is quite a way away from the main terminal but surely there must be a way to connect between the terminals. I am sure someone else can advise. Hotel wise consider Gloria Hotel, it is a 4 star so a bit less expensive and is right next to the Dubai Internet City Metro stop which is two stops away from Mall of the Emirates. Kempinski as you rightly say have indoor access from the metro to the hotel but it is a bit if a walk. Most of the places you would want to go to will be close to the metro but you will probably have to jump in a cab now and then to get to a few places. Hope you have a great time!:)

Oh, and forgot to say, you can change your address with a few of the U.K utility companies to your P.O box here if needed and cut having redirection for years.

Hi Sheba, Post from the U.K to the Gulf seems to be a bit hit and miss but I have a feeling the miss might be on this side... When we moved to Bahrain two years ago we redirected our mail with Royal Mail, took three months for us to get the first set of post but then worked fine, we didn't have a P.O box which I suspect was part of the problem as the Gulf countries tend to get their mail to P.O boxes rather than your home address. When we moved again I just changed the address of all important stuff, bank correspondence etc to my mum's, when anything important comes through they just scan and email to me. Hope that is a tiny help :-)

Hi Cati72, I don't drive so I have arranged with one of the Limo services (not as fancy as it sounds, basically like mini cabs in the U.K) to do the school run, we pay QAR 500 a week and then I just ring him up for whatever other trips needed and pay extra for those. Usually works fine but can be frustrating at times when they don't show on times and what have you. But the school run is usually fine. Not sure how it works if you provide the car, and if you would need to sponsor. Can't help with the horse riding I am afraid. Good luck with everything! <em>edited by AEB on 28/01/2013</em>

Hi samsqat, I haven't seen that much natural stuff around, Tyhler's (not sure of the name) chemist in Landmark has organic creams but not sure if they have baby stuff but you could buy natural almond oil, I used that for my baby when she was little.

Hi Shire.girl, I have also been looking around for health shops for a while and not found much, GNC seems to be the only one really if I haven't missed one (would be great if that was the case). But have you tried Forever Living products? https://www.foreverliving.com/marketing/Home.do Julie Buck at Mater sells them http://www.mater.co.uk/ they might have spirulina, have a look. Otherwise maybe a trip to Dubai or Bahrain if you can where they have the brilliant Organic Foods and Cafe http://www.organicfoodsandcafe.com/ , not the most convenient option though I know.. Let me know if you find any other alternatives! :-) <em>edited by AEB on 07/01/2013</em>

Hey again! Oh jealous of you two meeting up in Lisboa, love it there, have a caiperinha in Bairro Alto for me ;-) Yes, finding accommodation here seems to be a bit tricky, especially finding one for the right price. We are in staff accommodation so not paying but since we are not crazy about the place my husband looked at a few places before we came here and he saw some places in the 9000-12000 price bracket and he wasn't impressed... But there are some flats that are OK around 12000 I think if you look around but as I said not an expert on this area. Are you Da Silveira on FB with Flower profil pic?

Hi Cal Hob, the dress code depends on which beach you are, if you go to a hotel beach club you can wear normal bikini, but if you go to beaches like Katara or other public beaches or were locals go you need to/are asked to wear t-shirt and shorts but for kids it is fine to wear bikinis and swimsuits on the beach and she can wear shorts and skirts where ever. Sadly the Caribbean it is not...;) <em>edited by AEB on 29/12/2012</em>

No need for a letter when you arrive from the U.K and as Gail said, they will ask where you are staying and that is it, I also just stated the compound we live in. But I am also confused about this letter from husband thing as I have heard that you will need it to leave the country, but we have been on a visa run without one so not sure when you will need that letter? Maybe if you married here? Anyway in this case you don't have to worry!

Hi NEMom, Like catonclan I doubt the cabs or limo services offer car seats so bring your own, if you use the same driver they usually let you leave the seat in the booth of the car until they pick you up again. I don't drive either and I have a 5 year old, but it is easier for me as we only need a booster seat I suppose but try and get a baby seat that can fold up smaller if possible or the ones that you can click in to the buggy and then just move to the car but make sure it is a universal one so it fits to any car. And do bring it from home don't rely on finding it here! Good luck with your move! :-)

Did you have to pay double in the end? If so that I am pretty sure would be illegal. If they had a problem with you sharing they would have had to state that when you ordered, they can't do it afterwards.

Hi Rachel I have sent the details! You can also download it from a famous website for free :-) Oh, which one is that? I am behind with my Eastenders! :) I used to download torrents from the Swedish one that starts with a P but it is blocked here. Hi again, Small world indeed! We have been here just under two months and it is OK. We had a villa to move into at staff accommodation so didn't have to do any house hunting so can't tell you if it is difficult. But good thing is that you can now choose where to live which we couldn't... I presume you will be staying in some sort of temp apartment in the beginning, and then if I were you I would wait until I was here to find a flat, so you can check properly the area and the flat itself, websites and photos can be deceiving! Hope all of you are having a good weekend!

Hi Ami, I am not the best one to answer as I am new to Doha, but I was looking at Riviera Gardens website the other day, and they have flats http://www.rivieragardensqatar.com/closerlook.html I don't think that is too far from DESS... But as I said I am no Doha expert. You could also get a house in one of the areas outside West bay for around 10 000 QAR, like Al Gharaffa. You would then have a bit of a longer drive in the morning due to traffic. I know of a few people who have shipped their furniture here so clearly there are unfurnished places not sure if they are all in houses though. So yes, sorry for some rather vague advice but there you go :) Good luck with everything!

Thank you so much for your replies momoym, marycatherine and RachelA! That is a shame there is no Waitrose! I am also really missing the Organic shop and Cafe they have in Dubai and Bahrain but oh well, what to do. Will check out Megamart and the two Spinneys. Yes, my husband told me about the licence, sorting it out, hoping it will not take too long... Thank you again ladies!
