Thank you so much Ladies! Yes, Zofran has started to do its magic and I feel much relieved now. But guess I'll have to continue taking it cause the day I reduce / skip the dose, I am again miserable with throwing up all the time. I'm happy that it's a safe drug and can be taken till conditions demand. God bless you all! x

Previously it was sold in malls like Dragon Mart etc. Also, it was available for online purchase on souq.com. But later, the municipality's health and public safety department started warning the public against buying or using this Chinese slimming tea. Read this article in Gulf News: http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/health/chinese-slimming-tea-taken-off-shelves-in-dubai-1.660350 {{Municipality officials said the "Paiyouji Plus" tea has been withdrawn from the market as it has side effects that causes severe heart problems. The tea has a direct effect on the heart and arteries, municipality staff said. The municipality is urging the public not to use the tea if they have it at home and if anyone sees it for sale they are urged to inform the municipality immediately. Dubai Municipality staff said the tea contained sibutramine which is banned by the European Medicines Agency because it can increase the risk of cardiovascular problems.}}

I haven't had a personal experience yet, but another mommy-to-be friend recently got a prenatal massage done at SensAsia Urban Spas, Palm Jumeirah. She has all 'wows' for that place & their services. They have couple of branches around Dubai. Just thought of sharing in everybody's interest!

Thank you so much for your replies. Though this post was viewed over 200 times, but no replies made me sad... lol But now, I'm happy :) I used Navidoxine for 5 days but it seemed to be too calm for me with no change in the state. I'm also close to 14weeks but still experiencing terrible nausea (I like to joke that I didn't just get morning sickness... I got morning-noon-and-night sickness!) :D I have tried many natural remedies (ie. ginger ale/tea, Vitamin B6, etc.) Nothing worked. So my doctor put me on Zofran. I read over the Internet that the FDA classified Zofran as a pregnancy category B drug, meaning it is not expected to be harmful to an unborn baby. Also, regarding my weight, early in my first trimester I asked my doctor about weight gain/loss (I was worried about this, because I am so nauseous, nothing really stays inside). She told me that there's no hard and fast rule for average pregnancy weight gain in first trimester. She said some women gain weight, some maintain a stable weight, and some women lose weight (she added that those who lose weight usually do so because of terrible nausea and vomiting, making it hard for them to eat food and keep it down). She told me not to worry about my weight during first trimester, and to expect that in second trimester my stomach would calm down, making it much easier to maintain a balanced, nutritious diet. I hope it happens sooner than later and the sickness is killing at times. Anyways, thanks again ladies. All the best & good luck for your wonderful journey of pregnancy :) God bless! <em>edited by AHS on 29/06/2014</em>

Mostly high rises run on chillers instead of air conditioners, which is not only economical but also saves energy. So it's fine to leave your cooling system on if you're away for longer time. Just remember to keep the temperature high (around or above 22) so the system can regulate automatically and can turn to sleep modes during the day for optimal consumption of electricity.

we have used the Sky Clinic in the Burjumman Office tower for years. Great team of dentists there - Dr Max is awesome and very funny even with a drill in his hand!! makes you very releaxed plus you get the most amazing views over the creek as they are on the 26th floor. I second that. Had a treatment from him last year. The whole team is great. Superb services. Just one hitch, this clinic is expensive. If your insurance covers your entire treatment cost, then surely this is the best place in town!

Honey has so many health benefits but I somehow had something against it. Every time I used to have even a pinch, I used to get upset stomach. But ever since I started using Sidr (Yemeni), purchased by Balqees Honey, I'm sorted. It has a taste of rich, lavish and buttery sweet... This honey comes from the nectar of the Sidr tree which is an ancient tree in Yemen primarily from the Hadramout Region in a valley called Do'an. The Sidr Tree is famous for its phenomenal medicinal value. This type of honey is considered the best in the world and the most expensive due to its marvelous taste, aromatic smell and health promoting benefits. Balqees Honey kiosks are available in almost all leading malls eg Mercato, Dubai Festival City Centre etc.

I agree. Iftar buffets are horrible. Tried loads of venues. Whenever we plan to have Iftar outside, we always prefer to open our fast at home, with something light, like dates & juice etc, and later go for a dinner meal instead of Iftar buffet.

Nah not frustrating. You can do it yourself too but if its first time, better hire a clearing agent. You will need a customs code from dubai municipality before proceeding. Their website is www.dm.ae which details all relevant information and requirements.

Yes, it could be triggered by hot / humid weather. Try to keep your head covered by direct sun expose by wearing a hat. Also, keeping eyes covered with UV protection glares can also save you from instant headaches which can linger on for not hours, but days, like it does in my case more than often. Firstly, you have to increase your water / liquid intake. At least 2 - 3 litres of water is a MUST. Dehydration is a big cause of headaches & migraines. Secondly, caffeine is a double-edged sword; it can help and hinder headaches. Caffeine can restrict blood vessels and so it can lessen pain. But CAUTION, it can also trigger headaches for some people. If someone uses caffeine excessively, it can cause a rebound headache, making existing headaches worse. Just evaluate what triggers your migraines so it helps you to take precautionary actions beforehand. Afterall, the less medicines you take, the better!! All the best!

I would recommend Tribes in MOE. It's fun to be there esp for a Bday celebration since the whole fleet of waiters sing along with beats n stuff to wish you Happy Birthday in a truly African way. Lovely ambiance, with or without kids, and great food.

Happened to DH with a supposed new SIM bought from Etisalat. He got so annoyed he went back to the shop and demanded another one. I think the guy behind the counter was so shocked that he just filled the form in DH signed it and hey presto new number - with no strange calls. Gosh! That's a news for me.. I always thought a new # issued is always fresh from the inventory.. I am using Du though, but (thankfully) never faced such issues of repeated sales calls.

Strange! If you bought a new sim connection then why are you receiving such calls unless you've bought it from outside person who used this number in the past some time and the bank has this number on their record. If it's a brand new connection then only Etisalat can help. Otherwise there is no solution but to change to a new number.

What help do you need? recruitment agencies? professional CVs? Ramadan is around the corner, it will be really hard to find jobs now. also, what is your field? Am very careful with the little I have not to loose being a single mother of 3, though am just wondering if some of the ladies working here have opening in there office, secretary/customer care will do edited by mama5 on 24/06/2014 edited by mama5 on 24/06/2014 Don't worry. Just have patience & stay positive. That's true that recruitment during Summers & Ramadan is relatively slow to nil. But don't lose hope. Keep your search active on various job portals (at times Dubizzle also publishes decent jobs). I will also recommend if I come across any suitable vacancy around. Wish you all the best :)

Don't you think setting up a beamer would cost you much?! Another work around could be setting up a projector (costs much lesser in my opinion). For movies you can insert a flash drive & for football you can insert the cable cord. And can have the projection on some wall etc. I hope it makes sense though :D Just thinking out loud..

I would recommend Naif Bazaar. Just behind Naif Police Station, they have a big souk for fabric only. Great variety of fabric as well as prints at affordable rates. Thanks AHS, i didnt know there is a Souq for fabrics too. I'm not an expert in Naif but i know the police station but i remember there is an area with the Abaya Shops and the new Naif Souq Building. Is it somewere near by? Do you recommend a special shop? How much do you paid for a printed cotton per yard and jersey? In Satwa I pay 12 AED per yard, even when i'm buying 15 yards and more they aren't open to handle. Yes, the same area. If you go further to the Abaya shops, there is a new souk building, all selling fabric. I can't recommend a particular shop, as I was looking for matching fabric for different wedding dresses and had to look around and shop from different outlets. Cotton prices I can't recall, but it was around 10dhs or within this price.

I love this stuff, nothing you can make yourself is quite as nice! When I lived in the marina I always used to get it from Choithrams but they didn't always have that flavour, when they did I would get 2 or 3 packs! True it has a unique flavour but that's mainly due to the flavour enhancers in it. I used to eat it as a kid but always make my own now I'm a bit more wiser to the world of packet/powdered foods If you are hankering for it Choithrams on Al Wasl always have loads in stock Can you please share your quick n easy to make recipe for this pasta? Thanks!

Still waiting on my pre visa or whatever it is at the moment so hopefully start tomorrow or wed. He seems like a really nice guy so I'm hoping he'll be ok. Just hoping everything goes smoothly in this pregnancy and I don't feel so ill that I'm rubbish at my job. Previous pregnancies I've been so tired I've wanted to crawl under my desk and snooze by lunchtime and felt so sick. Anyway will let you all know how it goes xxx All the best!

I have done the switch myself. It's called "number portability" where you can change your subscriber without changing your phone number. You can visit any Du offices or kiosks and they get it done within 24 hours. I visited their main office (head office branch) in Media City and was impressed with the staff & quick service. And trust me, my life is in peace ever since I made this switch. Etisalat was pathetic. No service if you're in elevators, basements, high rises. But Du is completely reliable with great intl. roaming facilities & rates.

I prefer EMPOST for all international parcel deliveries as I find their rates very affordable and service very professional. And if you safely pack the delivery items in a carton, they'll collect it from your home/office without any additional charges.

I would highly recommend Dr. Grace Jacob at Mediclinic, Dubai Mall (but she delivers through Mediclinic City Hospital, Dubai, which is THE best hospital in town esp for maternity / deliveries). All the best with the toughest of times ahead. You'll do just well. Take care!

Despite living in a Muslim society, we’re pretty lucky many independent restaurants in Dubai do obtain a special licence to operate in daylight over Ramadan. Just be mindful of our Muslim friends and patient with serving staff who could be fasting. One last thing, there’s definitely no booze from dawn to sunset. As these restaurants will remain open during daytime also, but you may call before reaching the following venues: Shakespeare and Co (three locations open daily 7am – 2am) – Al Attar Business Tower, Sheikh Zayed road. T; +971 4 3311757. Safa Centre, Al Wasl road, next to Park & Shop. T; +971 4 3941121. Arabian Ranches retail centre. T; +971 4 4470444. Bateel (two locations open weekdays 7.30am – 6pm and weekends 9am – 6pm) – Dubai Media City, Tower B, Business Central Towers. T; +971 4 4494010. DIFC. T; + 971 4 3700404. More (two locations) – Gold & Diamond Park. T; +971 4 3234350. Open daily 8am – 6pm. DIFC T; +971 4 3700469. Open daily 8am – 7pm. And last but not least, at DIFC (Dubai International Financial Centre) there’s aplenty open: Gaucho T; +971 4 4227898. Open daily 11.30am – 11.30pm. La Petite Maison T; +971 4 4390505. Open daily 12 – 3pm. Roberto’s T; +971 4 3860066. Open daily 1 – 11pm. Royal China T; +971 4 3545543. Open daily 11.30am – 11.30pm. Zuma T; +971 4 4255660. Although the International Residential Code isn’t a binding legal definition, many housing codes use it as a guideline. Under IRC standards, the bedroom must be at least 70 square feet in size and at least 7 feet wide. Ceilings can’t be lower than 7 feet, 6 inches. If the ceiling is sloped, at least half of it must meet minimum height standards. A bedroom must also have a window to provide light, ventilation and an emergency escape route. Windows must be at least 8 percent of the square footage of the room. That's generally called a "bedroom" But for your particular query, I suggest you should check with a certified RERA agent just to be sure of the latest guidelines & implications. Very useful info, thanks, very timely, at home so many bedrooms are less than the minimum dimensions given here yet are counted as bedrooms, does this same rule apply in the UK? Yes, pretty much the same. As far as I recall, a habitable room has to have ventilation (normally provided by an openable window). Thus a box room with no window is unlikely to be able to be classed as a bedroom if it doesn't have suitable ventilation... Same goes for inadequate attic conversions, unless they met the building regulations at the time of construction, they can't be classed as habitable rooms. <em>edited by AHS on 22/06/2014</em>

If the control treatment is already done then I hope it has cleaned up the mess. Don't forget to spray the inside of your vacuum. You can use the same treatment that you used on the carpets/floor treatment. It will kill the fleas & ticks that didn't die before, or they could lay eggs in your vacuum and crawl right back out...
