Hello ladies, I have a 4 yrs old son who is crazy about Avengers... Is it worth to go with him to IMG Worlds or he will not be able to ride on most of the games due to his age/height? If we don't ride on the games, does it still worth to go? Thanks for your thoughts in advance! In the Avengers Area, there are only 4 rides. Out of the 4 rides he can only ride 2. Out of all the rides in the park I would say he can only ride 4 or 5 rides. If he's the only one riding I can't say that it is worth to go. But if you or other adults are riding or will be enjoying, then it's worth it specially they have discount this month. From AED250 they have an offer of AED195.

Hi, Has anyone here ever bough an off plan property? Me and my partner are looking into it but have heard some horror stories bout late completion so are abit scared off. There is also sooooo many options and the developers are useless at calling back. Any advice?? The main benefit of buying an off plan property is capital growth. Developers are selling the property at much lower price than when it is finished in the future. This is why most investors are attracted in buying off plan properties cuz they can sell it later at higher prices. Risk will always be there. Depends on your chosen developer, I would say you need to do extensive research. Check how the developers perform especially during the crisis back in 2007. Know their payment plans/terms and conditions especially regarding Area Variation, delayed in payments (do they impose penalties or not) and Defect Liability Period (usually it's good for 1 year but some developers only handles it for 6 months). Location is also very important. Is the area fully developed or just started? Will it still be in the middle of the desert by the time of the project completion? Delayed in completion is always there. There is no developer who delivers their project on time. But according to Dubai Lands Department a developer has a grace period of 12 months from the anticipated completion date. This is what most investors don't know. They think they are entitled for compensation when the developer delays within the period of 1 year. With regards to the Freehold and Leasehold - anyone can buy either of the two. The only difference is that with Leasehold you are only buying the right to live in the unit for 99 years while with Freehold you are the unit owner including it's structure and the plot the building is built on.

Hi ladies, I'm curious, what kind of items do you get from Ali Express? I was under the impression you have to buy in bulk (or am I mixing it up with Ali baba) Ali Baba is more of a wholesale buying while Ali Express is for the smaller quantity. I think Ali Express is under Ali Baba. (not sure) Personally I order my party supplies in Ali Express. If I am planning any parties that needs lanterns, candles etc for decorations or anything that I need for the party, I order them in advance in Ali Express. (it's way cheaper) You just have to check pictures and reviews, customer ratings and feedback from the sellers previous clients to know more about the seller. It will help you decide whether to buy from that seller or not. My next buy is our costumes for Comic con which is originally priced at 300-500$ but with them it's only at 70$!

Really airashiii?? And do you just use your PO Box? Does it come to the post box or do you use a home address? I use my PO Box and I always receive it from there. It's easier for them. I order everything from there (seriously).

Asking for a friend, she has been offered a position in Manila to head up a project, job is fantastic but she is 45, single, no kids. She's worried about meeting people and potentially being lonely, what social clubs are available, expat websites? If you have lived there any insights would be great. Hi! To be honest with you, meeting people and being lonely would be the least of her concern. Filipinos are friendly by nature and I'm pretty sure her colleagues will be happy to show her around. I am not updated with the social scene. As mentioned by the previous poster, those areas are perfect for socializing/clubbing. My concern will be the "culture shock". Philippines is a third world country. Traffic is insane (incomparable to the traffic in Dubai). No proper driving rules. Buses and jeepneys everywhere. I am not trying to degrade the country or scare her off. Just being honest here. More than the traffic, the weather especially when there is typhoons could be terrifying. Expect that if there is typhoon, there will be floods and black outs but this depends on where she will be located. It takes alot of getting used to. If your friend is not used to this kind of scene then she needs quite of adjustment. But on the positive note. She will have access to the beautiful beaches in the world and more public holidays. Cost of living is okay. Food is cheap and has wide range of variety. There are plenty of events/concerts to attend as well. Malls are open until 9PM only. It's the perfect time to be in the Philippines. Weather is really good and loads of Christmas events/parties are happening at the moment. Let me know if you have some more questions.

I'm on the hunt for four ivory or white pashminas for bridesmaids and having no luck on Etsy or anywhere like that. Does anyone know where I can buy reasonably priced and comfortable pashminas in Dubai? Much appreciated I bought mine in Souq in Bur Dubai. They're my give aways on my wedding. Price starts at 25AED and you can always bargain. They have different designs but they also have the plain ones.

Hi ladies, Do any of you know if there is a nice bar in Atlantis where you can sit during the day for a nice cocktail or glass of wine? Planning on taking friends there when they come to visit but we won't be staying. Thanks in advance In my opinion I would go to the Jetty Lounge at the One and Only Mirage or upstairs at Al Qasr, both nicer and have a better view than Atlantis Agree on both places. Bahri Bar is amazing plus there are also restaurants with great views. Atlantis has limited options. You can also check out the bars in Madinat Jumeirah.

My husband and I stayed in one of the water villas during our honeymoon. I would say we loved it at first but would've booked a beach villa instead of the water villa. IMO the price of the water villa isnt worth it. We were outside the villa anyways the whole day. We were out snorkeling, or by the pool or by the beach so we didnt enjoy the villa that much. Unless you have your own pool in the villa I can say that it is better to book the water villa but since we do not want to spend more than our arms and legs we opted just a plain water villa for the sake of experiencing it. I would recommend going on all inclusive. The ala carte restaurants are costly and found it not appealing. I love going to buffets and the fact that I can just go in the restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner without thinking what to order. The spread was huge and there were a lot of varieties anyway. We went in december and though most forum says there is no rain at this time, it was raining when we got there. They said it was all because of climate change. Regarding transfers, it was very costly. we paid 2K dhs each for round trip. Now I'm planning to go back and would honestly just book it through online holiday sites like holidayme or holidayfactory since the transfers are included. When you book through agency or booking.com, you have to pay the transfers separately. I highly recommend going on snorkeling safari. We tried discovery diving but I got scared so I didnt push through. The snorkeling though was the highlight of our trip. Lots of colorful fishes to see, turtles, reef sharks and beautiful corals.

I think it's going to be dry for two days. Just searched for some bars on Google and looked at the opening hours on the right hand side. For Saturday and Sunday it either says "Hours might differ" or "Closed". Yes, I booked for Kaleidoscope on Saturday and the lady told me it's dry day til Sunday 7PM. I thought dry day will start on Sunday instead of Saturday.

So it is not possible to sell something as a private person? (without a license?) Like for example something I made with my own hands. A handmade product? For handmade products - you can join ARTE market without trade license. They specifically help locally made products to sell. So this fair is for you. You need to pay registration fee and the stall fees. Check their FB page for more info.

I've been there over the weekend and I enjoyed it. I don't think the full day will be enough to cover the whole thing. Not exaggerating because of the park size but some queues are really long. Plus, at times, they are having technical issues that causes delay. I would suggest to come at opening times and take your lunch/brunch before you go to save some time from eating. Regarding the soft play area - I don't think they actually have one. Although there is like a playground but didn't really checked it out. However, there is a live show in Cartoon Network area where the characters from Lazy Town are featured. Your daughter will enjoy it. Lots of dancing and singing. Some attractions are timed. Like the Haunted hotel which is a hit for me are timed every 1.5 hours. I suggest you do that one first as the line goes really long later during the day. Main courses are priced at min AED 40. We bought churros for 10 dhs each. I was a bit shocked, thought it was 3 for 10 AED but I guess that should be expected. Water is 5 AED and softdrinks are 7 AED. There are variety of restaurants, from Indian, continental and western, and stalls from here and there. There are plenty of benches so you can take a break from the walking. The rides aren't too far from each other as well. I think your son will enjoy it and the money will be worth it for him.

You are welcome airashiii We were in a 16 seater Cessna, approximately 45 minutes from Johannesburg to Madikwe, passing Sun City We were only there for two nights as it's luxurious and quite expensive actually. Besides, you can go out three times a day (if you wish) with the guide. You will need an anorak or warm clothes as it can be chilly first thing in the morning. But there are blankets in the jeep. I think the first trip is at 0600. You get tea or coffee with biscuits before heading out with the guides in the 4 x 4 (some times longer and higher trucks) and when finished, you have breakfast in the bushes including proper toilets. A very pleasant surprise. Don't worry, all very safe. We manage to see all the Big Five! Before I forget, there's plenty of drinks and snacks at sundown if you choose the last trip of the day. :) Hi Gunpowder, I just sent them an email for inquiry. If it fits the budget we'll go for this one, otherwise we'll go to Kenya for the 5 day safari trip. :) Thank you all for your tips and advices! Much appreciated esp regarding the visa. We're scared that we might get rejected as we really want to go there.

Hi Gunpowder13! Thank you for the reply. My husband and I are planning to go in May for our birthday celebration. Thinking of 5 days in Kenya and 5 days in Cape Town - from May 21 - 31. To be honest I didn't know there is non-malarial safari. I only do research in tripadvisor and africansafari website and we're looking into Wildebeest Safari company for our safari trip. I don't know if $1250 each for five days is costly but this is a private safari with own driver, 4x4 jeep and mid range tents and lodges plus full board meals. My budget is around 20K dirhams for safari, flights, hotels and other sight seeing tours. Do you think this is enough or too much? I want to go to Table Top mountain in Cape Town and do the wine tasting as well. We found DysArt Hotel near the V&A Waterfront, through Booking.com, that costs around 2K for 5 nights. But we later on decided that we want to book 2 nights in Gansbaai since there is no assurance that there will be shark sighting during our trip so we figured to stay nearby so we can re-book again the next day just in case this happens. Also, we might do whale and penguin watching.

Hi Rara Avis Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I am preparing for my wedding too this December! Supposedly I will not do the blessing ceremony but my parents wished me to do so. I have a budget of 20K for 50 pax. Sounds impossible specially in Dubai and the type of wedding that I want. But thank God everything is set and I was able to spend less than 20K. It all depends on your budget I must say. I really want a sunset beach wedding and it was a dream come true for me. I've been checking around Dubai and they ridiculously quoted me at 40K minimum. For my decoration, I only need fairy lights, dance floor and wedding arch. I found one man who does all this and your decoration requirement for your wedding for cheaper price. I paid AED 3900 rather than AED 12000 which is from several companies I found in Dubai. He's based in sharjah and has his own company. My wedding is in Ghantoot and he didn't charged me for the logistics. For my centerpieces, I initially plan to make it on my own but since my wedding is on Boxing Day I figure it is impossible to prepare everything on Christmas Day. Thankfully I found one flower shop in Deira that suits my budget. He will ask you what your budget is and they will make it for you. I am having baby's breath for my big centerpieces and 2-3 pieces of white roses in small vases for 7 tables and 12 medium ball sized babys breath for my aisle, bouquets, corsages and bouttoniere - all for the price of AED 1500. I purchased other decorations in Dragon Mart and online shops such as desertcart. If you have any questions, you can always contact me. There is one website for wedding tools, etc. based in Dubai. www.weddingchamps.com is a huge help for me. Goodluck with your wedding preparations. Don't stress yourself out too much. Enjoy. :)

What do you like doing? Perhaps do some hobbies you like and you will find friends. I totally agree with IzzyOnTheSeat, i've been here for nearly two years, im 27 and a mother of 1 (and one in the making) but ive found it so hrd to find mothers to bond with....its also hrd bcos all mothers have different routines that r best for their child and noone is willing to change what works for them which is totally understandable. It ws just yday i was tlking to my hubs about learning either the piano or guitar...i dabbled in it abit when i was alot younger so now i may look into putting my daughter into a playgroup so i can go mayb once a week. I attended a small class for arabic lessons last summer and unfortunately everyone in there are married and have children. Would you believe they attend the class just so they can keep up with their children because they are learning arabic in school. :) Anyways, I attend bikram yoga as well 3x a week. I tried making a small talk with this girl, it went well. But I never see her again the next class. I run every Friday morning at Safa park and I smile to whoever I came across with but that's just it. I even signed up for swimming classes near our area, I didn't even take the private classes just so I can meet someone from the group class but unfortunately others who joined are too young (teens) for me to hang out with. Do you think it's me who has the problem? I think I have a very low social skills.

Tried meetup once, was a meat market...literally...never again. Been here for so many years yet can't help but feel Dubai is one of the loneliest places on Earth with total lack of communities, etc.....very difficult if you don't have children...it being a transit city doesn't help either... My friend joined recently said exactly the same!!! I was fortunate as I work in a Female dominated environment and house shared with a lovely girl who is now one of my closest friends here It is difficult to meet new people especially now. I feel many years ago there were less people so it was so much easier. Most of my friends met people at the gym classes Yea I heard the same thing that's why I don't want to go to meetups. I love Dubai, but it is lonely at times. I have my family here but it is nice to have friends who you can go out with and talk to about everything. Whenever I wanna go to concerts I had to ask my aunt who is about 10 years older than me and I had to pay for her ticket cos she has kids and is tight on budget. Imagine paying double for a front seat ticket just to have a companion and you won't even enjoy her company as she doesn't share the same interest as mine towards the artist. But I can't go on my own cos that would be more sad.

I have been here two months and I'm having the same problem, there have times I've wanted to go up to a complete stranger saying hi, can we befriends lmao lol! How old are you btw? I've signed up for every expatforum I can find on the net. And I'm still in the process of making girl friends but got nothing so far cos it's either they're 40 something or it's mostly the guys who are interested with what I assume has ulterior motives.

We recently bought our curtains from Dragon Mart, they made it according to your window sizes. You can buy the curtain rod from there as well. You can also get curtains from Naif Deira, they will come and deliver the curtains to your house and they will fix it as well. Much more expensive though than the ones from Dragon Mart but quality is pretty much the same.
