When MoE was first built they used to have really comfy seats all over. Dont know why they removed them all. I prefer Ibn Battuta, I hardly go to MoE.

Do you mean you want an extra space besides the one that comes with your apartment? You would need to ask Taziz who are the management company. They have an office in Rimal on Plaza level. Amelia, they moved to Murjan OP Tel:04 434 5900 Taziz https://jbr.taziz.ae/community

Alismum, Dubai Mall Food Court is fully open for [i'>dine-in[/i'> not just takeaway and not just for children! Yes you said in your previous post. I have been avoiding the malls during Ramadan daytime because my little boy is always hungry or thirsty when walking around them but I will definitely head over to Dubai Mall next week now I know :)

Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if next year there are curtained areas for little children in all the food courts.;) They are soon going to open toilets for children in malls so that mums need not worry about having to take their boys to the ladies loos, there are plenty of compassionate people here. I have met a lot in my years being here. Thank you to the guy in the mall who found a place to eat for my hungry son yesterday....

I went to the food court today as well with my son (as we were out and about on an errand and he was really hungry) and I asked in McDonalds if children could eat in the food court and they said yes, so I pulled out a chair from the pile and a security guard came to me and said that no-one could eat in there, so I told him I didn't want to have my son eat in the toilets. He was actually very kind and he rang his boss and they gave us a little table and chair in the workers area to eat away from the public. I think next time you are out and about with your child go up to the security guard in the food court and ask him to find you a place to feed your baby that is not the toilets, or ask to speak to the person in charge.. It would be nice if they had a little area curtained off in all of the large food courts just for children during Ramadan.

Chezmoi, Marsbar and the others, have you seen any of this cream around in the shops? Looks like a miracle cream from the videos I have seen, blurs your wrinkles, what do you think, have a look at the video below???? It's from L'Oreal. [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5TmUS3x69s'>L'Oreal Miracle Blur Review Video[/url'> To be honest I have not seen it but then I've not looked for it either. Basically this type of product that claims to instantly erase wrinkles uses silcone as a filler and light reflecting particles as a camoflage and can be effective depending on your skin type. It does not eradicate wrinkles permanently, it only hides them, which could be handy if it works. As for the ingredients its rated fair in terms of organ toxicity the main concern being the silicones, it has a high percentage, which is bio accumulative in the body and the eco system, so personally I would avoid it. If you do try it take care not to use it on broken skin, you dont want silicone in your bloodstream. Thanks Di, I had a look for this product Boots/big supers etc) and couldn't find it. If anyone sees it on their travels please let me know (Miracle Blur from L'Oreal). I did get this one from Boots http://www.humanandkind.com/skin-shop/anti-ageing-cream/ It's a natural product from Ireland (the sales assistant recommended it but not sure whether she saw me coming ;) ). I normally use almond oil, but thought I would splash out on a good face cream. Not sure if I made a mistake though. It's pretty thick and greasy. Will report back if it's any good.

Daily Mail photos of the damage shows much more extensive damage than the 7 days images. Think the 7day is one side of the building and the Daily mail showing the side that was severely damaged. Looks a lot worse in the DM photos, like you say perhaps 7Days are only showing one side of the building. I do realise that for many posters the import of this story is the safety of highrise buildings but today ten people died and eight were injured in a fire in Abu Dhabi. They were workers living in "illegal accommodation" according to The National. The two sides of UAE. Terrible tragedy. Thoughts and prayers to the families who lost their loved ones in this fire. RIP. edited by Alismum on 21/02/2015

yes, Security banged on the doors but 7 Days had a report with someone in the building saying he slept through it and woke up at 6 am !! Read that too. Easy to do though. You end up tuning out the alarm if it goes off often enough.. In the building I lived the alarm went off nearly every day due to the fact that the smoke detectors had been placed in the kitchens right near the cookers. I cooked sausages once and the alarm went off in the building. I had to run in the corridors and tell them it was me, but most people didn't even leave their apartment to check they were so used to it, especially around dinnertime. Could have been a lot worse, looks like it was only the facade of the building http://7daysindubai.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/20150221_090555.jpg edited by Alismum on 21/02/2015

Didn't someone say this seems to be an existing poster masquerading as MF? [b'>One very prominent poster is glaringly missing from all this fun [/b'>;) Would that be Mdme Lola? Can't be a name change then if the one that edited it joined before the one that made the post? Very strange! Also both looking for friends, one single from US?? and one with baby from UK??? Must be a glitch...

This is why I don't believe much of what I read on here... It's a real shame isn't it? I was looking back at 2011 post today that I'd been involved it, seemed like a whole different bunch back them x Agree, I was thinking this morning reading the forum its getting more like the classifieds. That edit would be a name change as DT says , although its weird to edit your own posts as the new name trying to look like another person. I did change my user name to a more appropriate name when I left Dubai (di@dxb) but I have mentioned it several times and not keeping a secret of the fact at all, so hope I have not caused any confusion. Hi Di I didn't realise this was you. Like your new name. :)

Boric acid really does work. Just sprinkle it under all your white goods in the kitchen from a talcum dispenser and leave. You can also sprinkle over the whole kitchen floor, do it at night and leave until the next morning and hoover it up. I myself saw one last night so I have sprinkled boric acid everywhere. Every year I have odd ones and I always manage to get rid of them. I have never once called out pest contol despite having had the odd cockroach. Try it first and see. You can get boric acid from Al Maya supermarket or Life Pharmacy. edited by Alismum on 11/01/2015

I think the OP is asking the wrong question. It should be how old is too old for a teenager. Ha ha that's true. InWhySee, My mother had me when she was 40 and I never thought she was too old at all, she always seemed young to me, never had a problem.. even as a teenager I was 42 when my youngest was born, I will have to wait until he is a teen and ask him, so far so good, keeps me on my toes :)

Do you know where I could get them over the counter? I called boots and they said they couldn't I know exactly what I need. Been in the health care field for over 6years in the US, recently moved here and don't have insurance or a doctor yet. Go to Life Pharmacy (is there one in AD?) and ask. Looks like it isn't legal but they all are doing it. I personally wouldn't ring, just visit a branch. http://www.thenational.ae/uae/health/survey-finds-abu-dhabi-pharmacies-unlawfully-selling-prescription-only-medicine Someone previously said Don't try buying antibiotics from any Boots chemist - they all require a prescription as they would in the UK. edited by Alismum on 08/01/2015

I dont understand why the BCG vaccine is given a day or 2 after a baby is born. We had ours wayyyyy later in life, it seems very early to put a vaccine into a tiny baby. Because the risk was lower when we were younger brought up in countries where TB was almost eradicated. Some research http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8613331 Neither of mine have had BCG, when did it become routine? Both mine were born in different European countries where we lived at the time. Has anyone taken their older children for BCG over here? I remember when we were at school they did a six needle test and then afterwards we had a vaccination. Think we were about 14. I agree with the others and am an advocate for vaccinations too. I had measles as a young child and my mother told me it's a miracle I am here as it turned to meningitis and I was very poorley. I think I had mine at primary school but cannot remember as it was so long ago Had mine done when I was around 11/12 Yes perhaps it was 11/12. I remember standing in a queue with the other kids at school and they gave the kids 6 needles and for a week we had to check to see if it swelled up. How long does this last for though, are we still immune to TB after all this time?

I vaccinated both mine when they were small, but I did have to be convinced by the ped at the time over the MMR as I was worried and was considering seperate vaccinations. Mine have had the lot incl Hep B. My youngest has had Chickenpox vaccine, although my eldest (18) didn't have that one and caught chickenpox when he was 5. Saying this though they haven't had TB vaccines, which we used to have when we were early teens. Is that offered over here? I guess there still may be some who would not consider combined vaccines like the MMR due to the research and findings of AW about 16 years ago which were later found to be untrue. edited by Alismum on 06/01/2015

Those little camel ornaments. I have a couple I bought from c4 and they look really nice. Have jewels on the outside and a lid that lifts up. They come in a nice little box as well. Reminds me of the camels on the beach, also the Aladdins lamp ones. What about a shisha pipe, would that fit in the basket, how big is this basket? Oh and those evil eye thingumigigs, they sell them everywhere, I would put in one of those. Or hand of Fatima trinket. edited by Alismum on 05/01/2015

Anyone knows if there will be led light show in the evenings at burj khalifa, similar to the new year one? I would imagine if they took the effort fixing up those led lights one by one, they would want to use them every night for a while, say January, but today I asked in the mall at the information, and they could not tell. (Lol, he kept repeating "ma'am, there will be no more fireworks, it was only for New Year's eve", like I was some idiot who expected the fireworks every night...) Dentro, just saw this on GN, says show will continue to 9th Jan. http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/leisure/burj-khalifa-led-show-to-continue-until-january-9-1.1435259

Here's what happened http://cdn-wac.emirates247.com/polopoly_fs/1.573905.1418901822!/image/93755960.jpg From RTA website [b'>RTA closes five Left-side turns at Marina and JBR[/b'> [i'>Turns closed involved five intersections with Dubai Tramway[/i'> 31/12/2014 [i'>The Roads and Transport Authority has completed the closure of left-side turns at the Dubai Marina and the JBR as part of precautionary measures undertaken to step up the level of traffic safety of the Dubai Tram, particularly in the vicinity of signalized junctions on the tramway where the tram movement overlaps with vehicles movement. Engineer Maitha bin Udai, CEO of RTA Traffic and Roads Agency, stated that such measures covered left-side and U-turns at intersections where vehicles movement flows parallel to the direction of the tram movement, for the sake of enhancing the traffic safety of all road users.” About alternative roads, Maitha said: “The RTA can confirm that other options are made available instead of traffic movements that have been closed, such as using nearby intersections or turns leading to the intended destination. Moreover, the number of vehicles impacted by these closures is limited and the extra time of the trip by vehicles during peak time does not exceed 10 minutes, and the variation in the trip time will be limited during off-peak times.” The CEO of RTA Traffic and Roads Agency concluded by calling on the public to cooperate, and heed to the huge efforts of the RTA and the General HQ of the Dubai Police towards streamlining the movement of all road users, and boosting the traffic safety along the tramway and others through the adherence to the directional signage and specified speed limits.[/i'>

Is this because of people driving into the tram? I remember it happened right after the tram was opened, and our watchman told me it happened again in early-mid December. Yes it was Beebers, a car was in path of tram after turning left near Baskin Robbins junction. Minor accident, but changes happened soon afterwards due to this. edited by Alismum on 31/12/2014

I'll be honest Stix, as much as I like living here, this is one of my pet peeves, being fobbed off or passed on by folks who want to do as little as possible work wise. I would think that all issues related to the roads over here would come under the jurisdiction of the RTA. Ring them again and maybe you will get a different response from another person.

I haven't heard too much about Discovery Gardens recently. I know there were problems with access to swimming pools etc. for a while and the roads out of there were a problem. I think they solved the road issue though. 2 beds there are in the region of 100K and also same in the Gardens, but you may find a few for lower than that. Also have a look in Al Barsha, there are some apartment blocks there with 2 beds for 80-90K I saw on Dubiz. Also JVC might have some apartments for around that price, look at this one for eg. Check out the following websites, there are some private clinics which do the premarital screening and they list what diseases will be checked in the test. Until you have residency cards you have no option but to do visa runs. It really isn't too bad..it's about 90mins to get there, usually in and out very quickly and then you can stop off at Hatta Fort hotel on way back for lunch. I've also done it after collecting the kids in afternoon from school. You can do it in less than three hours. We did it for about 5 months as well with 2 kids in between businesses. Bit of a pain but can be done.

Absolutely heartbreaking. I was choked up reading the telegraph article "They finished in minutes what I lived my whole life for, my son" said a labourer, tears streaming down his face as he buried his 14 year old son Fahad. He said he had worked for years in Dubai to earn a livelihood for his children. How sad is that. My heart breaks for this poor man and all the others who have lost their beloved children. RIP angels. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/pakistan/11298802/Inside-the-Pakistan-school-harrowing-images-reveal-full-terror-of-Taliban-attack.html ETA This teacher was extremely brave....... http://newsweekpakistan.com/she-was-my-hero/ edited by Alismum on 17/12/2014
