This year I am doing No gifts, sick of buying gifts - so it is an adventure day. http://www.platinum-heritage.com/ - followed by Atmosphere and the Sandance Might be a bit much with LO's so what about a day at Jebel Ali Hotel & Resort, loads of fun activities, maybe stay over? We stayed tat the jebal quite recently in September that would be a good day I know he wanted to sail on the kayak so I may book it in then. :-)

I feel sad that you feel this way about dr Anne , she is lovely, yes can be full on but she is manic at city and does sometimes say things that really I think she said in her head and were not meant out load lol. Every time I went she said something about my saggin belly I'm on number three and gained weight after first two started to loose before number three . It really ****** me off at first but I learnt that she didn't mean any harm. Plus I knew she would say it so I just use to laugh and shed ask me why I'd say your going to tell me I need to do something about that after birth aren't you lol. All in good humour. And well she was fantastic with the birth little rough, ie small hands but I had a epidural so was numb. She got my baby out safe that's all that mattered in the end, :-)

Moved from Bahrain after 3 years to dubai. We first lived South Manama in a lovely apartment close to Brit club as family stated to grow we moved over to Saar area well top end of budaiya highway. Close to schools shops and dilmun club and rugby club. Once your a member of either you just pay 1bd to enter hatch club Brit club or dilmun club. The compound we lived on has some available 3 bedroom villa 1level lovely porch area swimming pool and tennis court security 600bd. I have contact for a agent if you need one. :-) as far as troubles differences they still go on and you do tend to avoid the areas most known for it. Personally never felt threatened and would defiantly move back at some point. For now I'm loving dubai. Good luck with possible move edited by Allisonmason98 on 26/10/2013

Hi, firstly you need to look at your diet high fibre and less starchy foods will help a lot. I have suffered throughout each pregnancy and the most recent was very painful to go after 6/7 weeks. I made the changes in my diet and starting having fibre gel after breakfast and after dinner. Worked a treat after a week I weaned myself off them. This should help with reducing the piles. For the itching self control is the only thing you have to master its ****** well difficult but get through the first night and your half way there. Also try wearing gloves to bed that way if you sleep itch you won't break the skin. You see its a vicious circle each time you scratch the area and make it bleed it dosnt have time to heal before you start scratching again. Also more prone to infection. If you need to use cool water via a shower head to relieve the itch. Feel for you I really do :-( oh and water DRINk DRINK DRINK loads of the stuff 12 glasses plus each day get a tumbler gym type thing and keep filling it up edited by Allisonmason98 on 12/09/2013

Oo really blimmin eck. 300aed a tree wow. They would be alright if there wasn't so many they are planted a meter apart all the way round. And look lovely all bushed up but those roots are almost at the house and the wall to the side is now cracked all the way up. Don't fancy being responsible for it. :-0

(QuoteRuthM)Have you tried informing the landlord that he is responsible for the maintenance of his property? So if those trees weaken walls, grow into his water tank (or a neighbours) or even worse weaken the foundation of his house then it's his problem. That said from his current attitude he sounds like an **** that may try and blame you so I would exit fast! Our landlord just removed all the damas in our garden at his own great expense. No not as yet we politely asked her to get rid of them as there aRe too many and grow very fast. They have been cut three times this year already :-( ill be sure to be sending another email when I get the letter from Emmar as confirmation. :-) they are a bit of a **** but I like the house and they are new to being landlords in dubai. So giving them the benefit of the doubt :-/ edited by Allisonmason98 on 11/09/2013

Speaking to my gardener and he said there was a notice up in Sahel gate 4 I've never seen it but noticed said to remove any damas trees I have a total of 26 in my back garden. Yes some stupid idiot planted 26 trees. Landlord wants nothing to do with it won't pay for removal says its down to us as tenants. Paying holy **** at the minute with them. Total nuisance and killing my grass. :-( that idiot wasn't me lol edited by Allisonmason98 on 11/09/2013

Not with a newborn, Sounds great where's the best place to get one and rough cost, hubby is out at the mall today so I could get him to collect one. X Wait til he or she is at least a month old then slather with factor 50 for 10 - 15 mins only. Also, dry cool air is not great for them, if poss buy a humidifier, it has been a lifesaver for us and produces a lovely swirly noise for baby as well. When we stay at hotels I wake up with the driest nose and throat in the mornings, and we add nice smells to our humidifier.

Hi, we used a service located in the hospital itself. They took care of all the paperwork. It costs something, but it takes all the hassle out of your hands. I'm sure City has something similar? Good luck and have a safe delivery! Thanks for your reply ill be asking the doctor or receptionist on Tuesday :-)

Hi I flew at 29 weeks back to uk with my 6 and 4.5 year old. I've done this flight lots since both where small but it was pretty uncomfortable towards the last 3 hours of flight. I made sure I was up and about a lot drank loads of water thankfully positioned next to the toilet . I always book the same seats if I can but if I could have chose different it would have been the seats at the bulk head with leg room as you never know who can be very rude and inconsiderate infront of you and recline right back so seats on your bump!!! Needless to say this lady who had had kids got a few headphone and blankets on her head after refusing to move the seat so I could go the loo! Yes get a doctors note they will ask you how far you are and you need the letter to cover your return flight back. Good luck and enjoy the uk wish I was going back but I'm due in 4 days :-)

Defiantly regarding timing do it now. Whilst living in Bahrain coming from uk I wasn't aware my two even needed it. Got to dubai and yes I was asked so I looked it up and thought yes best to be safe. Than sorry. But my two are 6 and 5 and boy oh boy did I want to cry and never seen them so terrified. They have there last dose come September along with preschool booster for the youngest. I'm dreading it. Better to do whilst babies as they don't know what's coming bless them x

If after five years you have only had this one set back, I'd really consider your thoughts. Sometimes we say things in the heat of the moment that we later regret. This doctor sounds like she's had a stressful morning and said something upsetting in the heat of the moment. We are all human. 45 mins is nothing really , I had to wait 2hours for a scan at 21weeks yes it was scheduled, did I mind? no not at all because you never know what someone else is going through before your appointment and I knew I was going to see my baby at some point. If there's one lesson to be learnt is 5minutes is never 5 minutes its always more like half and hour. Be better prepared for a wait next time magazine newspaper, iPad, phone...

Not sure if they have a kids club but we've always had a lot of fun there with our children. Defiantly a family freindly resort we stayed at the jebal Ali hotel and have booked again for a mini break in September. Kids love the kids club mine are 6.5 and 5 years old boy and girl loved every minute and like daza says feels like you are getting away gorgeous x

Dubai is lovely and if you make the most of your surroundings will enjoy very much living in the Middle East. For me schools are a big issue. We started looking at schools with a 6 month advantage, visited and secured a place with 3 months till start date. Very lucky indeed I know. I've just had a friend who lives in Bahrain try to locate schools for September so far no luck and she has also know since feb this year. They have no decided to wait until the new year to look again. With location and husbands work knowledge village that's pretty much central and you,ll have the choice of living pretty much anywhere from jebal Ali village to arabian ranches to the greens meadows and springs and barsha. All with lots of schools in easy reach. As for working... Have you been in employment long enough to take sabbatical leave I have a friend who's just moved from uk and has managed to secure a 3 year sabbatical :-)

We insisted on a maintenance contract that included service of AC 4 times a year. We pay for parts if any needed. They do a normal service. This contract also includes water tank cleans and electricity sockets lights checked twice a year. Amongst other things. But generally they check do a clean of AC and make sure all works well inside and out. So far we have payed for pipe replacement and fans and chemical clean if like mine where very dusty and never cleaned by a previous tenant! Falls on us as next one in unfortunalty.

I've took the kids on the cycle track 4km and hubby does 8km I always feel safe its very open there although I was shocked to see last time a rolls Royce speeding down the cycle track my kids where on in front of the picnic area couldn't get my phone quick enough to take a picture and send to police. My after thoughts possibly royalty what with the new sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum sign that been put up there!! Or just some idiot that lost his way... which i find hard to do as its clearly cornered off as a cycle track!! Never the less was not acceptable and in 6 months of usage that's a first instance. edited by Allisonmason98 on 30/05/2013

Hi I've asked them to give priority for me under the circumstances but nope. Unless someone says they don't need it I loose my place because I wasn't quick enough! I'm upset that since feb when she started in ASC I've not had a problem with handing in the day after. Contacted the teacher and head of year but that's what I've been told. Gutted!! My son is only year 1 I wouldn't feel. Not Happy with him taking the bus just yet as we are new to dubai and I only fear it would upset his routine. Does the school not provide bus services? Perhaps you can explain your situation to them and they can make a compassionate temporary allowment for you? edited by Allisonmason98 on 29/05/2013 edited by Allisonmason98 on 29/05/2013

No matter what we wear we will always be stared at by men in the Middle East! If you don't like it don't live here. Or wear a complete abaya with face cover! As for dressing in skimpy clothes. This I understand is not accepted in malls. I have yet to see a notice on the school doors about dressing correctly for school pick up. Wear what you like ladies but remember although its hot right now we still have to dress appropriately to co inside with Muslim law.

My fitness pal ... Brilliant get the app on your phone and comp and iPad etc. you have no excuse when your out and about as you can scan food items for the calorie take. Along with some exercise you'll see the weight drop off. I started in July last year until November until I got pregnant and managed to loose 20lb I had a personal trainer twice a week along with MFP and being sensible it was working great with steady weight loss. Ill be back on it after a few weeks when I've had the baby. 4 weeks to go :-)

Shows how much they care and they miss you, but I have told her she must stop this as the kids are seeing it and wondering why. At the end of the day so long as your happy to move and are prepared the will understand in the future. Don't worry yourself about it only makes it worse for you when you get here, xx
