I have and if i'm totally honest it's a lot harder than I expected, I am up at 6am to get the kids to school and i'm still ironing etc. at 9pm! We have very little social life now and that too is taking it's toll. M children are 2 and 4 and i'm exhausted most of the time and feel that I have lost the fun times as I spend so much time cleaning etc.

Jocky I would like to invite you to pop along to a Fairy godmother club meeting one day, you will meet lots and lots of mums some with and some without help but all finding it tough to manage the everyday without the support of their friends, family etc. they come along to the group for support, encouragement, companionship and more. There are a lot of Jumeriah Janes in Dubai but there are a lot of real people too.

So far i've done loads and loads of phone interviews and 1 face to face with another tomorrow afternoon. The phone ones have been hilarious I must admit some of them are seriously kidding themselves!

She just called me to discuss my ad re needing a maid, now the ad details what I am paying, holiday etc. So she called grumbles about her current family not paying enough and states thats they have mutually agreed she should find a new position if she wants more money (Now from what she is she's earning just under 2K. My ad states 1700 so why call me? She goes on to discuss her experience I tell her about m family and the salary at which point she says but you will also but my food!, I said now that s the salary, accommodation and holiday once a year so she moans and hangs up on me! I have to say i've spent the entire morning talking to ladies but tis one did make me chuckle! :-)

Go to an agency after 2 years and sponsering a maid ive had no luck in finding a good one...least with an agency u dont lose all your money if u have to get rid of her.... Thats very true but I cant justify in m mind paying an agency 2000 a month and the poor girl getting just 700 it really upsets me.

I've been looking on and off for a while now and it seems so hard to find a good, honest, reliable English speaking housemaid! What am I doing wrong? Do you know anyone good who is looking?

Can I ask how old Mercy is and where she is from? I know that this is contriversal but we have a big villa which my previous maid found to be hard work.

AA, you may have to wait a while but next time your LO gets a tummy bug, it was definitely all down to the finger up the nose ;) - that has totally worked with DS as he thinks that is what caused his recent virus and hasn't done it since! I'll definitely try that, I have sown the seeds of that but he seems to think i'm kidding. HAK I will try offering alternatives where possible and see if that helps...kids who'd have em!

Oh and it gets better! DD just screamed non stop for an hour for no apparent reason and when I come back down the message on my phone says the maid we have held out all this time for is now not available as her family aren't leaving! Boy oh boy what next?! Anyone have a padded sound proof room I could do with a wee scream session!

Hi Marina86 I have an adorable grey tabby 6 months old, she was a stray but we took her in. She has had a shocking start to life having been tortured and dumped in the swimming pool. She's been operated on Nd is doing really well. She has also had her first vaccinations. The only problem is I don't have help Nd have two small kids so it's a little to much really. I should add i adore her but DH doesnt hence considering your offer. Please let me know if you are interested. X edited by AndreaA on 02/04/2011

I have to say one thing I will be eternally judgmental about is the use of car seats or lack in so many cases. In my opinion it's just plain stupid and selfish to neglect our children.

Hi, Are you seeing anyone to get help with your latching issues? If not I'm sure there will be a breastfeeding counsellor in your area if you want to let me know where you are I'd be happy to pass on details. The advice given so far is great, the latch issue may be because the breast is very full so baby can't quite take enough in but we'd need to assess it visually to really help. Take care Andy

I think it's the sunshine that makes me tired! I was in bed at 9pm last night (and that's because I was dozing off on the sofa) and slept unitl 6.30 (and not even the call to prayer woke me)...bliss! I think we sometimes feel under pressure to keep grown up hours, when in fact children's bed times can be better! PS to OP....get someone in for a few hours a week, even just half a day, and have some me time :) Suze that sounds awesome but doesn't Dh get crabby that you are going to bed early and don't have time for him?

Why don't you get someone in weekly to do the cleaning, ironing and gardening AA? Still not totally comfortable after having to sack the last one for stealing. I also feel that I should be able to do it as if I were home I wouldn't have a maid. Silly I know

Sorry I can unhappily confirm there are no birthing pools at City Hospital, I went in and met with them the other day to discuss if we could consider introducing such facilities etc. but unfortunately their birthing rooms are way too small and the insurance limitations are too great. Dear OP i'm a Doula here and would be happy to discuss what hospitals have what facilities if you wish to email me. Andrea @thedotingdoulas.com (Edited to add) My reason for not posting this information is that not all hospitals are open about their facilities as they don't want you to use them I have been told by Midwives what is available but have been asked to keep it quiet. Although I don't agree with this I don't want to get these ladies into trouble as they are friends and colleagues. I hope you understand edited by AndreaA on 23/03/2011

AD if I don't get a maid soon I may implode! I was ironing DS's gym kick at 6.30am as i'd forgotten to wash it yesterday so it was washed and dried over night! I then had the Fairy group this morning and back here for a little terrorizing before dinner and bed. Oh and did I mention DH complained i'm always tired...:\: We'll see how he copes it no undies!

Good Mexican food of any kind, really hard to find outside of Mexico but fabulous if done well (I am a lover of messy food)
