natashaK you are lucky. if your DD went out to her nanny its a good thing. she is social. otherwise i have seen kids here attached to thir parents all the time and they want all the attention. i encourage my son to be in arms of everybody (he needs to see me infront of him) . he might be young at 6 months but i want him to be a happy baby so that if i start leaving him with a nanny or sitter he will not create a racket (although i doubt it as he wants me infront of him all the time) i am in the same boat as you were. i take shower at night, make lunch right in the morning as during the day i don't have time (he has a problem with me eating :) ) going out with dh apart from malls is not there, even malls we separate to do our own shopping, married life is affecting, i am tired or sore from helding him in arms all day. my anger has increased and i take it out on myself or dh as i become frustrated due to lack of time to exercise. and seeing your clothes which does not fit at all makes you more mad :) so you have done the right thing. since you are SAHM doesn't mean that dd will be too attached to the nanny, afterall you are also there just out for some time to relax yourself. chill and enjoy :D

i am not insulted just irritated and mostly by the salespersons in the shops who will hover around you and keep on telling this is pink... i don't dress him in complete pink just a t shirt saying "daddy's little guy" :) anyways i think i'll keep on dressing him in whatever i want. but they should really increase choice about boys clothes. so limited colours! goto babyshop and you'll find shades of blue and green. you are right Daza ignore it :D i can't help it if out of all colours pink, powder blue and white suit my baby.

i loved ergo when i tried. felt much more comfortable for my back. i bought from a promotion going on 2 months back and it costs me around 375 dhs for ergo and bought infant insert for 90 dhs from mizado.com. although the later website is no longer working. i have a sports one.i got it when we went fr vacation and it was absoultely the best purchase i have made. initially 3-4 times my son created a fuss as he doesn't like to be cuddled much but then he enjoyed being in it. now atleast once a day he wants to be in it :) recently my stroller broke so i went to get it repaired and ds was in the carrier for 3 and a half hours. he was happy there but when i reached home i was sweating. my back didn't hurt (ds is a large 5 month old baby :) ) so in dubai whichever you buy for a long period if you are wearing your baby they will get hot. as evelyn suggested there is one nice one on dubizzle today.

emmsie i recently renewed my visa and id (3 months back) so asked if needed for my ds too. they said not required.now apparently he needs one too. i applied online yesterday and all the application was filled except the place of birth wasn't showing in arabic! i tried so many times but an error kept coming so went to emirates typing center today in al khaleej centre, bur dubai. done in 1 hr. if only we could have done along with ours so much hassle would have been saved.

first all of all congratulations scurry77. all the best for your delievery :) i use cloth nappies and can share my experience with you. i bought 6 bonnibuns with inserts,2 mothercare nappy wraps,2 from babyshop, 2 itti bitti before my ds was born. he was born ok but then after 15 days he started gaining weight (touch wood). my bonnibuns were all in one size diapers. but since my ds grew at a very good speed so these diapers became tight for him in just 1 month! also i used to put pampers sensitive at night so that he can sleep rather then we jostling him awake for diaper changes all the time. i had few home made inserts too. my mom bought very soft towel cloth and cut rectangular pieces from it. so i had enough. yes cloth nappies are expensive but i havn't compared with the pampers cost at any time. after deleivery you just have little time for yourself settling in with the baby that all the saving ideas go in the bin :) so far i havn't kept the track. now a days i bought 3 cute looking jeans style cloth diaper from babyshop and managing with that as nothing else fits my baby! so i put him in pj's and keep on changing when he wets. there are different websites where you can buy. there is also a lady, search her on google by the name of mayangels who sells cloth nappies, alternatively there used to be a lady at arte souq in times square who sold cloth nappies starter packs for newborns. but they were all white in colour. as for the shopping list you need to decide how many diapers you want, few inserts will come with that and rest you can make yourself, diaper cream still required sometimes. and you can gain from grittt1 view too :)

Hi, i used to feed my baby just a few teaspoons of solids at 6 months to get her tummy and tongue used to the solid food.. someone gave me a a very useful advice, that when you start on solids give your baby the same food for at least 3 to 5 days to see whether he is allergic to it or not... this way you would know which food to avoid in future... also start with salty food rather than sweet, since babies tend to reject salty food later on if their sweet tooth is developed on the onset.. concentrate on nutritional food initially rather than tasty, cause this way he will develop a taste for boring nutritional food as well.. finally if possible dont give him any packaged baby food.. make his food urself...thats the best we can do for our babies.. My baby adapted to solids very fast... but i know thats not the case with every baby... so dont despair if your baby takes his time.. Happy feeding... yeah...i read that babies have sweet tooth. i was thinking of starting carrot as the first food but its sweet. what food you mean by salty? i don't want to give him sweet potato first as he already gets enough carbs from my milk and is quite healthy.

nimonemo as lili suggested you can continue breastfeeding as long as you want. my sister was breastfeed for 3 years. so that's completely upto you. as for the solids i don't know why paediatricians here insist on starting solids and water at 4 months. few weeks back i started a similar thread as my main concern was that my baby is large and my milk is not sufficient for him because suddenly he has started waking up 3-4 times at night for the feed. also he is showing all the signs to start food. he keeps on making chewing motion if i eat anything infront of him. he tries to copy me and stares and reach for food.but i'll wait for 15 more days to start his solids when he is 6 month old. as for baby led weaning i think i will start with the puree first. i'll give him carrot puree then 1 pc of steamed carrot too so that he can associate the taste. i am not totally comfortable with the idea of only giving bits and pieces without puree till the time he shows atleast 1 teeth :) as the other mothers suggested here keep on trying it takes a long time and so many trials and errors for some babies to start solids.(mine's gonna be handful) do try to make him sit with you on the table when ever you eat sothat he can watch you eat. ds loves to sit on the table with us specially for the breakfast.he fusses if i leave him anywhere else! have you tried giving him water with the spoon? i have recently started water for my son to ease constipation. i give him in sippy cup for 2 days but he didn't took. then i gave him with spoon and he drank with a gusto and was asking for more :) i have the one to give medicines actually. its first year brand and it is a long spoon with 10 ml capacity. i have bought all his utensils of tommee tippee and i let him play with spoons and cup for some time. sometimes i place a piece of carrot on his plate to let him suck. the idea is to get used to it. even on the breakfast table his utensils are there(without food :) ) there are lot of people who EBF their babies up till 1 year. if you feel like your baby is not getting enough nutrition try starting any formula with the iron in it. mother always knows best.

my ds had a mild reflux as told by the doctor. he was on nexium for 14 days and was suddenly better. i was happy too. he is now 5 month old and sometimes he has reflux particulalry in the evening. but the docotr said its completely fine. its normal for the babies to suddenly refuse milk for a day or 2 or if they are vomiitng.the main concern is the weight gain. it should be appropriate. however if your symptoms are for more then 48 hrs or if he is vomiting frequently then please take him to doctor. after the recommended period of 14 days i didn't had to repeat the process.posted early :) does your baby has constipation? your LO is too small right now. my ds was same at that age.screaming all day long and we use to think "poor guy" but its natural for the babies. gas or wind do give them lot of discomfort and its foreign to them. they are still adjusting to the small thing as farting.my ds has loud voice so you can imagine the screaming episodes in our house. after 2 months he stopped screaming while farting and pooping. you do check your diet if your are breastfeeding. or if formula then change the formula. google and try diffrent positiong for breastfeeding. my baby found comfort in lying down position.give frequent and samll feeds. he will be better soon. i don't know why but babies this age has these problems. edited by angel joy on 01/10/2012

are there different gaviscon for adults and babies? i don't know beacuse i have not given my baby who also had a mild reflux. but i saw a rack full of gaviscon in dubai mall yesterday. lower ground near waitrose there is one pharmacy on the left side. there are actually 3 pharmacies there and i have forgotten the name. for sure it wasn't supercare. it had bioderma advertised in big and on entering you wil see bioderma products. near the cash counter there was rack full of gaviscon if its the same for babies.

prune juice is the best, you can get in spinneys. or a husk called"isabgol" found in Al adil. just mix 1 tbsp in warm milk. let it stand for 1-2 min. add sugar if required. this is ayurvedic. i mostly take this only. if you have diarrhoea you can take this in yoghurt and if constipation then in warm milk. Hope your LO feels better.

you can consult a doctor. my ds was the same and eventually stopped grunting and screaming after few days. nexium helped him too. now he screams but for different reasons :) although he sometimes still screams when farting but for pooping he makes such relaxed noises which i have recorded on video to show him when he is older. there comes such a peace and calm expression on his face :D hopefully soon your ds will outgrow this. normally after 3-4 months they are better. mine was better after 3 and a half months(he is 5 month right now)

we've been to pai thai at al qasr with my kids when one was 10 months old and the other 4 yrs. There are kids who go there too - I think if you are going when they open at 6:30 (which is when we have gone) and not on a friday or saturday night, it's not a problem. They do after all have a kid menu, utensils, baby chairs, etc. my baby is 5 months old and dh's birthday is on the weekend :)

Correct diet is really the most important thing. Maybe consider joining Good Habits to get you on the right track. Weekly meetings for support and discreet weigh ins, nothing is prohibited, loads of food - especially if you are breast feeding . Make sure you are wearing proper supportive trainers/shoes when you exercise. Consider wearing a belly support over your scar just to give you some support until your muscles and scar are better. where is this Good habits you have mentioned? i do wear post pregnancy belt but it has started giving me pains. probably i'll buy a new one.

I would recommend getting professional advise when exercising and of course a balanced diet. I did a brilliant Post Natal Pilates class with a lady called Laura at Up and Running on Al Wasl Road. She's a physio and specializes in women's health so did a through assessment & knew exactly what I should and shouldn't be doing. It wasn't cheap (I was lucky as my health insurance cover it) but definitely worth knowing I wasn't doing more harm than good. BTW It did take me 12+ months to lose the baby weight - once LO starts crawling it will drop off believe me! i wish i could join somehwhere. i am missing gym too much :( but no babysitter or maid.its just me,dh and ds. as for eating right as all of you suggested i think after 9 months of eating everything it would take that much time to control too :D specially with brestfeeding as an excuse. i used to control my diet before pregnancy and was always in the optimum weight limit. but during pregnancy i charged through food like a bull :)

Natashak maybe we can go together to malls :) my ds just turned 5 months and he screams and shouts all the time in different pitches. he is trying his newly emitted sounds daily and feels proud of himself!! although my ears have started ringing now. he screams in his car seat whenever the car stops at signal and then keep on screaming which turns into full blown cry.even if i sit in the back and entertain him its of no use. i always sit in the back with the seat belt on so that he can co-relate but no!but he is happy to be in his stroller and only wants out when he is tired and want to be held. if we switch on the cd or turn up the volue as the OP suggested he screams more. he does not like any sound above his own :D yeah but he do sleep irrespective of the noise if he is sleepy. he used to communicate by saying" ninnnnn niinnn" before but now he shouts when he is sleepy too so i have to understand why he is shouting! high demand babies! the only thing which quiets him down, so far, is continous rocking even if he is writhing and wriggling from my arms and the ergo baby carrier. he is quiet in that too.

legs pain is the worst thing in pregnancy!! i suffered whole time and is still suffering after 5 months. but after few tests it came out that my body isn't making vit D. so i am taking shots every 3 months and so far my vit D levels have increased from 6 to 38 (it should be 250 for vit d3) it got so worse that my dh kept a maid just to massage my legs :) poor him has to do it all the time once he use to come home. even when i went to home country for a month all the time one person or the other kept on massaging my legs and still i couldn't sleep in the night when the pain is at the max. mostly my bones use to pain and are still painful rather then the muscular pain. as for the exercises i was advised not to do because of the pain. so i walked but that too like 5 min walking 10 min sitting. wish my bones would have stretched too....might have increased from 5'3" :D edited by angel joy on 21/09/2012
