i don't have the experience with the pacapod. i have been searching fo r a good diaper bag since before ds was born. he is now 5 month old and i have found the perfect bag so far :) you will laugh but i think you need it after the disappointing purchase. (is there no way to return it? i guess you paid alot for shipping too. i can feel your pain as i got the bonnibuns and absolutely hate them! ) after purchasing few stuff ( ;) ) from duty free we got a free messenger style chivas bag in black. after not finding anything i purchased few organizers and a melobaby diaper wallet and put into that :D i am using that bag as diaper bag!! but hey its small, compact and fits perfectly in the basket and onto the stroller too. i am so happy with it. i really didn't wanted to spend a fortune on diaper bags when i can have a coach for that amount :P and moreover i didn't found any in perfectly black colour! (and it was a forgotten bag dumped under so many extra bags :) ) my dh is happy too that i will not drag him for diapers bag shopping every weekend! edited to add: the video on their website is amazing!! keep it for the time when you have to lug around with the baby food as well as the diapers. or if you really don't like sell it. edited by angel joy on 18/09/2012

i have the infnat insert and it depends where you are using. i used it first time during vacation few days back in istanbul. it used to get hot after some time but its so snuggly and ds loved to be in it. i use it here too if i am outside just not at home because there i can hold his neck ( he holds himself up by now). its seat is really comfy and he sits in it quite nicely. (i do have a large baby)

Love the concept of Tupperware parties but I wouldn't buy it. I think it is over-priced although my MIL still has tupperware that she uses on a daily basis and bought over 35 years ago, so I guess you can't knock the quality of it and if it lasts that long then I guess it really is value for money. I prefer lock n lock as it is almost 100% spill-proof. Tupperware used to last for ages, but not anymore. I still have Tupperware I bought in the eighties, but I threw away all the Tupperware containers that I bought since 2000. It becomes very 'sticky' and no matter how you wash it or with what you wash it, it doesn't help. The lids also don't fit properly after a few uses and is then not spill proof. Definitely not worth the money anymore. I also now rather use the 'lock' ones, but all the brands are not of the same quality. The containers I bought here is not so spill proof as the containers I bought at home. i always loved tupperware so bought few different designs and sizes lunch boxes for my dh (he is fond of taking new boxes) but as you said they have become too sticky and the lids are no longer functioning.it was a battle to close the lids :) bought one set of lock and lock box and he is happy with that.

I've been using cloth diapers for DD since she was a few months old and love them. We've been using the Itti Bitti (love them!), a few Cushie Tushies (very cute, but too bulky when she was little! Okay now) and Bonnibuns. The Bonnibuns were great until recently but I think she has outgrown them now. The elastic legs leave red marks on her chubby thighs and they leak (wee) if I leave one on for nap time. She is 22 months old and 15kgs. Should I be adding additional inserts in the Bonnibuns for naptimes? Also, for those of you who have larger babies, which cloth diapers worked best? I am thinking of buying some more Itti Bittis but I see that the large only goes up to 16.5kgs so should I look at ordering the Tutto instead? Any other brands that work well for larger babies? i bought lots of bonnibuns and i have a larger baby.so suffice it to say i used them for only 2.5 months. he is now 4 month old and is chubby, bonnibuns left a elastic marks on his thighs. out of urgency i bought 2 from babyshop (jeans style) and they are better then bonnibuns till the time i find another. they are lightweight as compared to bonnibuns who were too bulky! so if you find another i would be very interested. i have 1 itti bitti too and it is also working fine.

nice thread dear :) for me there are very less things as my dh was very adamant against shopping before ds arrived. so i made all the list of items from where i have to buy so that he can buy afterwards :) Ds is 4 month old now. for me 3 things i wished i havn't bought were: 1. anywhere gro blind : it appeared from day 1 my ds likes to sleep with the light on. he does not like dark. 2. lots of newborn clothes sets and blankets : completely useless. you don't require so many sets.(and that too in same size of newborn).these clothes are so tiny. buying sleeping suits individualy are much better and i had 7 sets and he wore them just once!!! outgrew them fast (touch wood) so didn't got a chance to put it on him again. DO NOT buy newborn sets! 3. soft toys: not interested in soft toys :( only likes his giraffe teether. he likes only toys with loud noise or lots of lights and that too for just 10 min. i am so glad i listened to my dh for not buying moses basket. i really wanted to splurge on that but dh bought bassinet with mobile instead! good thing as ds has outgrown his bassinet too in 4 months space. 3 things which i am glad i bought: 1. gro bags : my son absolutely loves to sleep in them. he starts playing with blankets and kicks them off. 2. play gym mat : from 1 month he is playing in that and loves to talk with the toys hanging overhead ( though i have to be there all the time! ) ergo baby carrier: life saver for me. i bought it after so much recommendations from here and true to words after initial first few rejections he now loves to be in it.and my shoulder is much better. also i love my bugaboo. so easy to handle. very light weight so taking here and there quite easy.and off course pump is a life saver :D edited by angel joy on 08/09/2012

this is really a tough thing to choose. firstly, there is no such thing as interviewing here.secondly, once the baby arrives you might want to consider a lot of things before choosing. as i don't drive so i wanted a doc who is easily accessible through metro or taxi . every time dh isn't available to take our son to doc if required and i didn't want to spend quite a amount taking taxi to and fro. it might sound weird or some people might take it otherwise but i found that choosing doctor of your nationality is better.reason for this is your lifestyle and eating habits are different then others and he/she will be able to guide accordinly. my son is 4 month old and i am already onto 3 doc...so far staying with him for the moment as he is better. you want doc to listen to you and at the same time give you advice too. wherever you are delievering for the time being see the paediatrician there only and if comfortable then why not go along with him. ps: good luck with the delievery and finding a doc here :) edited by angel joy on 07/09/2012

babies actually are often a bit snuffly as newborns, but not usually with runny nose. For yourself, you might have allergies too, so the purifier might help you both. I have one running in my two year olds room and am about to get another one for when my baby is born a few weeks to put in my room (where she will be sleeping). What you can do for yoruslef is try using a neti-pot/sinus rinse. Not sure if you can buy them locally, I bring from home but htey are great for any kind of congestion. You buy the squirty thing and sachets of saline mix, then basically squirt up your nose and it runs out the outehr nostril, sounds disgusting but afterwards you can blow your nose and EVERYTHING comes out, you feel really clear. [b'>NB This is only for adults, you can't use these for babies.[/b'> i know about those and do it occasionally . i learnt that while in India for a whole month. its really very disgusting to learn in a class full of people :D

the only reason as all the OP's have mentioned here was delayed cord clamping only. i am a micrpbiologist myself so i was very keen to bank stem cells since i studied them :) but now i am looking towards banking tooth cell, research is still undergoing but they are more promising then cord blood cells, and i have the whole year to decide.

you can find tommee tipee products almost everywhere. but the prices do differ. spinneys and C4 had same prices with the difference of a AED here and there. i didn't saw any product in bumblebee last time i was there (some 15 days back).there were few products in day today supermarket at diera city centre. what you want, you might have to search for it. i was searching for a spoon which i saw online,to give my bbay to gnaw on, but couldn't find any so far here.

thanks this is really helpful. i have heard so much about Dr Khan but he is so far from my home and i wanted to have a doc which is accessible easily either through taxi or preferably metro. as for the purifier i have that at home. but i am suspecting alergy. he does not have congestion....runny nose and noisy breathing. normally also, even when he didn't had runny nose, he used to have noisy breathing. i am worried since he was 1 week old. but whoever doc i went to says he is fine, let the cold go away on its own. i wouldn't mind using alternative therapies. i'll start giving him sinus massage. is his cold there because of me? however i take precautions, washing hands often, using sanitiser always still i can transfer some virus....if i use masks he starts shouting.and its not possible to use mask 15 hrs a day!!! i am trying yoga for sinus but it takes some time to go away.

I have an amazing Fisher Price swing called the Zen which is like a modern and High end looking swing but had the traditional swing motion. This was a total life saver for me up until DD was about 5 months old. She was a fussy baby and this is the only place she'd happily hang out .... She also took all her naps in this which honestly was the only place she'd relax and fall asleep. I no longer need mine and would happily sell it whilst it is in perfect condition. If anyone is interested then let me know. i am also looking to buy one but is extremely confused. my ds is already 4 months old and is a high demand baby to some extent. i don't know whether he'll enjoy or not. he seems to get bored from everything in just a space of few days.can you mail me pic and price? mscfriends52 gmail

getting the photo is very easy but for the newborns so tough with silly rules!! i had mine done just 4 months back.. eyes need to be open, chin visible, white background, both ears should be clear! uff!! i rushed for 3 days whenever my baby was awake to the nearest store but either only one ear was visible or the chin was not clear or he wouldn't be awake (slept enroute to studio :D ) finally i clicked lots of pic at home with my mother in law holding white blanket in the background and my mum making him straight. it was so hilarious but we got the photo and the passport. the pic on his passport is so bad but atleast its there :)

Yes this is very annoying. Yesterday i wrote a LONG message on the babies board and it took me ages as I had to search for medications, receipts etc and when I was finished I got "Only authenticated users may post ... blah blah" Surely if I am actively typing then I should remain logged in? It wasted more than an hour extra of my day yesterday. Ugh same thing happened with me but i didn't wrote again as my baby was up by that time. :) i had problem few days ago with the website not opening in the server. it says IS II admin said they'll look into it but i still can't open website directly. i have to go on google then type in search engine then open it.

all the signs which you mentioned were with my baby.one doc said its just the gastric pain and other said its mild AR. but since mine is a high demand child so he is showing aggressive symptoms. he was on nexium for 14 days. and now he is fine. its been 20 days since i stopped nexium but he still hiccups or vomit sometimes. but that's completely normal. atleast crying while feeding and arching his back al those have stopped.although i do put him on his tummy to sleep during the day when i am besides him awake. if i am not in the room i put him on his back. he seem to find this position relaxing.and i don't burp immediately after feed. i have noticed whenever i do that he spits everything out. so i wait for 5 min play with him or talk to him then burp. hope your LO is better soon. its really depressing to see your baby crying constantly.

i was with dr nirmala at sulaiman clinic only and she delievers at city hospital and international modern hospital. i opted for IMH as it was near to my home but had to change doc at the last moment to dr andrea. clinic charge the insurance company their fees and God knows why but sulaiman habib was chrging more then normal to the insurance company. so you check which hospital your ob/gyn delievers and what is their fees. luckily i paid only 200 dhs for the c-section :) (4 months back)

i take my 4 month old baby for walk every day late evening near about 8 pm. who so ever sees me in our building says "oh don't take him out.its too hot!" but my baby loves to be outside and does not complain once. if he cries or is fussy i always return back. on the days when its too humid i just stroll him downstairs or take him to bur juman(very near to my home) i know there will be different opinions on this but shouldn't i tak ehim for a walk? he is fussy on the days when we don't go out and then he is all happy once he looks around.baby also gets bored being coped up in teh apartment whole day with only my face to see.dh tries but still returns late from work. i also get to hear that i should postpone my trip back to home country ( i am going in nov to india). its not good for the baby. we have already taken a trip with him to turkey. i know their immune system develops by 6 months. am i doing wrong in taking him outside? being a FTP really worries you over each and every advice and details. :)

cloth diapers are good. for as long as baby's skin can be free of disposable diapers, despite the stay dry advertisements, its better. after recommendations here, there was a thread some time back probably in march about cloth diapers, i bought cloth diapers. i like using them although now they are becoming useless. i bought bonnibuns (all in one) but my ds has outgrown them in 4 months :( so whichever brand you go don't get a loadful of diapers. buy only few as your baby might outgrow them. there was one lady selling bumgenius few months back on dubizzle. might want to check that. as for the washing, yes machine loads do increase after the baby. i wash baby's nappies every alternate day in the " charm" non bio detergent from c4 separately. i have started using shorts and pyjamas for him along with the cloth diapers. normally 10-15 times a day he wets apart from the "bum time" :) of 1 hr or so. so you can have an idea if you are washing in 3 days. as for the brands check i think they have ittibitti at the moment. you can either use disposable inserts or the washable one. i made my own. bought a soft towel like cloth from satwa and cut it into rectangle pieces as the inserts which came with bonnibuns i felt were too thick for ds's legs. there is one lady who sells starter kit in times square in arte souk. i don't know much as i read it on forum only. also there is mayangels (google her) who sells cloth diapers. i think the adjustable one from bumgenius one are so far best.
