have been reading all the posts regarding sleep. getting to know a lot of things from different experiences. now finally have time to write :) thanks alot kiwispiers for that wonderful book. so far have been trying to schedule my DS's sleeping and i have reached from 1'o clock to 10:30-11 pm in 10 days. today he went to sleep at 9:30.cooed and smiled alot at me but i was persistent, kept on rocking him.didn't talked to him (although tempted). it took 50 min but he went to sleep at 9:30! woke up again at 10:30. whimpered for some time then after 15 min had to pick him up and he went back to sleep. slowly i will succed. I have tried dummy/pacifiers ( DS is 2 and a half month old) but he does not take any. i am double minded about pacifiers. its good he does not take it but there are times when i wish he would take one (he cries with his eyes closed and does not listen then ) he does not even like his thumb to suck. he only sucks on his fists and that too at times for feed not always. i am still not able to make him fall asleep on his own. when he is drowsy enough i put him down he wakes up and starts to whimper or would be awake and alert. daytimes are same. i have to see if he is tired and put him to sleep by rocking. these rocking motions have started to give me stomach pains (c-section and my healthy boy :) ). have shown to doctor but she says healing is fine.i have cramps like pain at times :( i just hope he learns soon to sleep on his own! establishing a routine for babies is so tough! phew!! ps:sorry meant to add this on sleep thread! edited by angel joy on 04/07/2012

maxi cosi car seats are easily available in dubai. currently mom&me have the cheapest in the market (deira city centre). previously there were posts here that car seats are cheaper in UK. i bought maxi cosi cabriofix recently for 550 dhs in sale. you can check the price in UK to compare.

I delievered at IMH in april. we are covered by Alico but the maternity package was very less. the hospital fees was 6000 for c-section,epidural,medications included and doc's fees 9000. already from the maternity limit i had utilised 3500 (15000 aed for c-section) . we heard about so many extras that we were prepared for the extra of atleast 6000-7000 . but ours extras was 300aed!! my DH was shocked and checked twice with the cashier. don't know how but Alico covered everything.

kiwispiers you are a gem. these links are really useful. the book you mailed me is really good. reading your posts and doing bit of research( when baby allows :) ) i am also following AP method. i can't sit and wait for the baby to "cry it out" even if he whimpers i pick him up. (we just bear with that method once ( for full 7 min) and with his cries we were getting distraught!! i have learned to make difference between his cries :) "first time parents"by lucy atkins is also a nice book.i found it really simple and easy to realte to. the no cry sleep solution by elizabeth is a wonderful book. i am going to buy baby whisperer next.

i know about the safety of using the car seat that's why i havn't been out with him since. when we bought him home from hospital he was sleeping soundly in his car seat and one time we went for his 3 day general checkup. even then he didn't cried (sleeping and the hospital is just besides my home).i am against going out with baby on the lap, better to stay home.I hate it when people hold their child or let them stand in the front seat. I have everything-head protectors, extra padding on the side,etc.. anyways went for 25 min drive today and the swinging idea really worked.he was smiling in his seat at home and went all serious in the car but didn't cried :) i guess he needs to associate sitting in the car to his car seat strapped up.

i had the itchiness too in pregnancy and it was so worse that all my tummy was bright red.don't scratch it or you'll have marks left over.have you consulted your obs gynae? its better to get it checked. sometimes its due to other medical reasons and other times its just normal and starts only in 3 trimester (i had in 27 week) got all the tests done and nothing came. i was prescribed cetaphil lotion by doc and was asked to let them aired if i am at home :). i use to apply medicated talc, coconut oil and cetaphil lotion too. do not take hot or warm bath at all. this aggravates them. i still have marks left over and all my skin is pigmented there :(

I am giving my 2 month old baby vit D but that is because i was extremely deficient during pregnancy and still taking meds. also my baby had little jaundice so i am still exposing him to early morning sunlight (which comes on his bassinet) for 5-10 min ( mostly on legs and back) here dr's give vit D to everybody without testing because of the low exposure to sun. if you don't want to give and is exposing your baby daily to sun(without sunscreen) then no need. do check your baby for legs pain.

Are the prices for these standard across Dubai, regardless of store? As in do they cost the same at Mothercare as they do at Just Kidding or Bumble Bee? At the Just Kidding store, the prices are: CabrioFix: 750 dhs Pebble: 1050 dhs Is Pebble worth the higher price? google the difference between cabriofix and pebble. i recently purchased and found cabriofix also good. pebble apparently has more padding and is slightly bigger in size(width) then cabriofix. (criterias are different for everybody )

kiwispeirs you are really insightfull :) My DS loved swaddling but from 3 week onwards he started kicking and the swaddle would fell apart so i introduced grobags and he loves sleeping in that. from past 2 weeks his playtime is from 11-2 am! then takes a feed and goes to sleep like a angel. but i have been trying to bring his sleep time little by little and finally yesterday he slept at 12. (but still wanted to talk to me :) ) my main problem is his cry. i can't pacify him when he cries. he cries with his eyes tightly shut and whatever i do, play music, sing, rock him he continues to cry. my last option is to feed him and he stops crying. its not that he is hungry(getting feed just few minutes back) ( same thing day and night) even when i go out he is just inconsolable! i just want to calm him down but i guess i have to wait for some time more. my Mil and mom were both here so he was with me for feeds only. few days back i was in dubai mall and it took me some time to reach the feeding room.by that time he was at his loudest and was angry with me :) oohh the joys of motherhood :)

i delieverd 1 month ago and have developed haemorrhoids now :( after medicines (which have not helped) i am taking digestive supplements so that no constipation developes. there is one called isabgol (found in indian shops) or fybogel from pharmacy. since my stomach is still numb so i dont feel any hunger or gas pain or anything.i feel for her as i am currently undergoing through same thing.google about them and you will find ways to relieve pain. keep your feet elevated while going through motions to lessen the pain :\: sounds weird but it actually helps!!

you will get loads of recommendations regarding good gynae's here. search previous posts. i recently deleivered( last month) and had 2 gynaes. i was happy with both of them. the only issue of changing was my insurance cover. Dr andrea at western medical clinic deleivered my baby. she is fantastic. she will give her instructions then ask you to enquire about your queries however they are and not stares at the computer :) my previous gynae was Dr Nirmala at sulaiman health clinic in healthcare city. she was also very good at listening to your concerns. if required then only she gives meds. i had PCOS and concieved without the required meds. infact my cysts didn't went away till 3 month of pregnancy and she was not worried about that (it did not required to be removed) Dr elsa at city hospital is highly recommended on forum here if you are lucky enough to get an appointment (i wasn't)

i had the same pain and it worsened as my pregnancy progressed. as long as you are not having any type of discharge or bleeding everything is fine. apparently some feel too much pain when their uterus starts expanding to accomodate the baby.
