whole modhesh world is a fun place for kids to enjoy. i took my LO last weekend and he loved the lighting and running around there. but we felt like it was too expensive. each and every ride costs you around 10-20 dhs apart from 15 dhs entrance fees. so you might want to limit your kids for rides. it is very big.

We did the 13 hours back and forth to the States this summer with my daughter who was 14/15 months. It's pure survival mode. Bring a huge variety of (non-sugary) snacks and toys. Does he have a seat? I sure hope so. If so, bring the car seat (assuming it's airline approved). So much easier if you can strap the child in for sleeping, take off and landing. I brought some animal flash cards at Borders and my daughter LOVED those. The enjoyed pulling them out and putting them back in the box. Seriously did it for hours. The in flight magazines were a hit for about 3 minutes, too. Maybe some iPad aps and videos if you have one. (She was in her rear facing car seat so couldn't see the videos on the seat back--although she only watched for a couple minutes here and there.) We also did a lot of walking the aisles and hanging out in the back kitchen with the flight crew. we are still waiting for the visa so flight not booked but would definitely get him a separate seat. he is a big baby so i cannot hold him for 14 hrs! i checked with the airlines and forward facing car seat is fine. i'll go and buy those flash cards too. right now his favourite game is throwing everything to see how it lands and makes noise :) hopefully in 1 month this will be reduced.

i tried typing 2 times from the ipad but every time it take me somewhere else...now good old laptop :) goto any shop in meena bazzar and they mostly charge 10 dhs for a jeans. as for the location let me try to explain..there are few shops behind khushi jeweller (in a narrow lane). i actually walk along in that area and give it. or you can goto karma area, near bikanerwala. there are few tailors and boutiques there. HTH.

oh my old thread is alive again :) Ds i completely fine now...he is 15 months old and has overcome his fear of grass, toys, pressure cooker, etc. now he is always curious and keep watching intently what i am doing in the kitchen. so i always work as i am cooking for some cookery show :D @pickaboo : he started saying "mama" when he was 4.5 months old. now he only says "daddy" and mummy only when i am not listening or if he is in pain (teething or gas). he tries to talk and sometimes says catch, dirty, touch. That's his vocabulary so far and he has recently started calling his grandmother on phone. as for the attention span its very less.i can't make him sit still for more then 5 minutes. he is not interested in stories but still i dutifully read him daily.he understands whatever i am saying but as normal for the babies...choose to ignore if my sentence has "no" in it :D but he do listen if i explain why no? like other day he was pressing dispenser's tap again and again making water spill. then i explained to him we only open it when there is a glass or bottle. so after few minutes he brought his bowl, put it there and then opened the tap! Now what? :)

i didn't gave any " first time daddy" gift but his birthday was just 2 months after delivery so i gave him a small framed picture of our son and him the first time he held him (after operation theater). he loves it very much and has kept in his cabin at the office. i did a google search and mostly i can see scrubs.tshirts, caps saying "i am the daddy" .

we threw a party once in barasti. around 12 people and the bill came for 1200 dhs (since i don't drink then it would be for 11 people) mostly beer buckets and few wines and tequila shots.. although the food at barasti is not great we just ordered snacks to go along with it. you can go ahead and negotiate a bit with the manager there.

been to Pantry cafe once only when it newly opened. ordered a green curry and it was disgusting. only cream with 2 broccoli and 1-2 pieces of carrot and zucchini. no colour, no coconut flavour, no spice when i specifically asked for spicy. Dh's steak was fine.

feel so sorry for you....i had nausea during whole pregnancy. didn't used to puke but any smell of food used to put me off. i tried several thing and only thing that did relaxed me was mint tea or even just mint leaves (chewing) i still can't eat eggs and chocolate (which were fav before but developed an aversion to these during pregnancy). i tried crackers before getting out of bed but nothing could help me! my docotr suggested just boil few mint leaves and drink that. it really helped me although i used to add sugar too. whole day used to go by eating 1 grape at a time slowly...slowly :) (the green one, which are sour) i lost weight in first trimester but started gaining after 5 month and gained a whopping 22 kg till 9 month!! i remember i could not eat anything cooked by myself but if somebody else cooked then i was able to eat little.feel better soon. normally it goes away after first trimester. doctor prescribed navidoxine too but i ate it for 2 days and after no change stopped eating it. hope you

but off course the doctor was right for one thing that breastmilk is not as nutritious as before for their fast growing body. so keep giving balance diet to make up for the lost nutrients. It's not that the breastmilk is less nutritious or that it's lost nutrients. It's just that biologically toddlers were meant to have food, as well. There body just requires more than breastmilk can provide. But that doesn't mean that breastmilk isn't losing its nutrient content or anything. That's like suggesting that formula is less nutritious for a baby--it's not, it's just not sufficient as the ONLY item in a growing toddlers diet. right....that was my intention of explaining.

@anondubai: Hi! My son is around the same age and I would really like to wean him or at least greatly minimize breastfeeding. How do you give your son that milk? I tried giving him plain milk first but he wasn't interested. so following my mum's advice i added not even half a pinch of salt to his milk (she told me to add atleast 2-3 granules of sugar too which i avoided :) ) and he did take that milk. i havn't given him bottle so far so don't plan on introducing one now. i give him in his sippy cup for him to drink on his own (morning) or from glass if i am giving ( mostly in the evenings) . it does take a lot of time from glass but he is learning to drink. also he likes his milk chilled. edited by angel joy on 29/07/2013

Fire the doc and find a new one. This one is providing misinformation. There are a lot of doctors who would say this, though.... That doesn't make it any the less misinformation, just because numerous doctors don't know what they're talking about :) or they are just promoting the products :) keep feeding your child. my son is 15 months old and he has weaned himself already to 3-4 feeds in a day. he takes about 150-200 ml cow's milk in a day in addition to breastmilk. i am in no mood to stop till 2 years of age atleast. Its such a beautiful feeling and relaxing time for mother and baby that its a shame to let it go. but off course the doctor was right for one thing that breastmilk is not as nutritious as before for their fast growing body. so keep giving balance diet to make up for the lost nutrients. edited by angel joy on 28/07/2013

i don't know about any deals or offers but i can recommend hertz and national cars both. have used National cars for dubai and hertz for overseas. We never had a problem, very professional. once my husband rented from some company in Karama (don't remember the name), it was very cheap but they took 4 months to return the deposit after several phone calls and visits and that too when husband threatened going to consumer court.

we went for 4 days on vacation and my ds who is 15 months old has stopped eating chunky food or feeding by himself. i used hipp jars only there along with some bread or other finger food. after returning home he didn't wanted food at all. even when i cooked his favorite food. out of desperation when he didnt ate anything for a whole day and kept drinking milk at night at every 30 minutes i gave him one bottle of food next day at lunch and he finished all! after that cautiously i gave him fresh yoghurt and he finished it also. dinner was again the same. after talking to my mom she said he is hooked onto jar food due to preservatives which change the taste as compared to fresh food. she said to start again on pureed foods and put them in the same empty bottles of hipp. i made lentil soup for him and fed him through jar and he finished it. so gradually after 2 days we are back on utensils but still if he doesn;t eat i put it in jar and he finishes it off. try some basic food first and then gradually progress from there.my ds doesn't eat chicken in any form. he prefers fish or turkey. i still have to introduce lamb as i am vegetarian so first i have to learn to handle it :) then cook it. i have posted too about this. one day he eats heartily and next he goes on only liquid diet. i do not want to keep giving puree but he only eats family food at lunch. breakfast and dinner he wants puree. at dinner i normally cave in otherwise he keeps waking up at every 30-45 min for feed. (still BF) also i was reading an article today that sometimes babies doesn't develop muscles properly for chewing so they prefer puree only. but yours prefer jar food as compared to homemade? do you add some spices to your baby food? just try some mixed veggies soup or lentil soup or only pumpkin puree with some rosemary and cinnamon ( my ds's fav) and try giving from a jar...see if he eats.

Excuse my ignorance, but if it is not Iftar at 9.00 pm, what would it be, please? Is there another gathering/meal it might be? Isn't the suhoor the early morning meal before sunrise and beginning the day's fasting? it is but the parties at 9 are called "suhoor parties" (i don't know for what reason? ) currently i am attending a suhoor party only which started at 9. the invite said suhoor for which i was confused too as iftar is the evening meal and suhoor is at the dawn. as crashingwaves said it might explain then. edited by angel joy on 21/07/2013

my best buys were a changing table, feeding cover and my bugaboo apart from few other things mentioned here. after 1 year they are still with me :) i love my stroller and i travel alot on metro and in taxis. worst buy was the moses basket in which my baby slept for 1 week!! i argued with my dh for a cute basket when he said to go for a cot bed. :( ds didnt fit much in that as he was a tall baby. another was newborn clothes again which he outgrew them in 15 days. i still have packed gift boxes in newborn size :) always gift atleast 3 month old clothes to others.

which is a good emolient cream? my 14 month old has very light eczema on one cheek from past 2 months. i took him to doctor and he said to apply stelatopia "mustella" 10-12 times a day. i am applying 4-5 times a day (which he doesnt like) but still its there. he has excessive dry skin and i used bioderma face cream on him since birth as it was the most oily i could find. he is allergic to johnson's products. when he is out it becomes too red and his cheeks look flushed. if he is completely indoors it becomes a light patch. should i take him to other doctor? i am trying not to expose him to excessive temperatures to worsen it. ours is non smoking and pet free home. 2 months back i stopped using grobag and transitioned him to blanket. i thought it might have caused the allergy as he likes to cuddle his blanket so i changed that too but still its there. i have been using same detergent since birth.it doesnt seem itchy as i have never seen him itching even when its too red. the only factor remains is pool. he loves swimming and water :) be it pool or beach or bath tub. in one of the pharmacy a salesgirl suggested evans cream ( i think it was this name) which was same as mustella but couldnt suggest any emollient cream.
