there was a thread going on the pregnancy forum regarding this. i am way too far from your stage but from the previous threads i can tell that depends on the baby. if you have a baby who rolls too much you could wait or put a bed guard at one side?

my baby who is 11 months old and has been walking since past 20 days has a knack to find trouble :) i babyproofed house when he started crawling at 9 months. he takes immense pleasure in pulling all the corners and then looks at me for praise :) i have bought several corner cushions from different places here and so far ikea ones are still holding up to his attempts. i got few drawer locks from b-safe and they are by far the best. they are ones with the stretchable material so easier to open and lock then the plastic ones which i got from ikea and he already pulled one apart. my cabinet locks are also very good but then i got them from India. they are so easy to open and close. i have seen difficult ones here. has anybody seen only gas knob covers here? i am not able to find so far. how much you baby proof the house they still find something or the other.always have to be vigilant and on toes! As for the playpen rainyskies once your baby is mobile they don't like ensconced places. i have to sell my playpen in just 15 days. he does not sit still. edited by angel joy on 21/03/2013

sometimes babies don't like transition from one food to other. my ds who is very fond of apples didn't ate any for 3 days when i went back home for vacation. after that he started again. since you have been giving him readymade made food did you checked the packet for sugar content? even preservatives change the taste of food. Steam your ripe apple nicely and then puree it.you can add a spoon of baby rice to it to make it smooth. or you can add a prune, apricot, berries, banana (either one) to make it sweet. also check the website-www.wholesomebabyfood.com for more recipes. start by combining 2 fruits then you can move onto 2-4 fruits.

You see Daza, thats EXACTLY what I had in mind for her!!!! I think she would just love it! Sitting up would just suit her down to the ground :) Where did you get yours, do you mind me asking? Or where can I get something similar? It looks ideal! i have something similar, evenflo exersaucer which i am selling. i have put up an ad on dubizzle. tried putting here but every time it said pic is too large :) Ds loved that and still loves it although now he loves to use it as his push toy. edited by angel joy on 15/03/2013

why would you give 200 dhs? if you told them clearly then they should have listened.taking your phone back after 48 hrs is not possible. God knows what they might have done with it.be strict and talk to their manager.

i took epidural when i was 4 cm dilated. Anesthesiologist at IMH here was so good that apart from getting afraid of the set up of epidural i didn't felt a thing. well i was almost forced into epidural as even after 12 hours and with induction my dilation was still the same :( i did researched alot before delivering about epidural and got different views from here too and from friends too who took it. i was not able to move my legs but i wanted to walk so badly and remembered begging nurse to just let me stand for few seconds.. and as OP suggested i also think walking would be beneficial or even standing as lying down keep your entire focus on contractions. some people gave me views that apart from paralysis(which happens in inexperience staff cases) you will have lower back pain all through you r life.i still hear it after 11 months. i didn't had any back pain during pregnancy but now i have it sometimes and it is due to lifting baby (heavy) in arms for longer periods (which i have to say to my dh again and again). no back pain for life due to epidural. only problem is the area where i had it sometimes pains if i feel it with my fingers but doc said it takes almost 1 yr-15 months to go away.all the best and don't be scared.baby's awake so has to rush

sitting walkers are not good for babies ergonomically. and even with the standing walkers they take longer time to maintain their balance. let them play without that.bring a low level activity bench which will attract them to stand and play. babies develop at a different pace. don't worry. just keep on doing massage which will benefit them. i was worried too as my baby wasn't interested in crawling at all. suddenly at 9.5 months he started cruising and crawling together and within 15 days started walking. he is 11 months old now.i have one vtech walker (gift) which i have started giving him now when he can walk. he mostly sits and plays with it. i do not let him take the walker and run.

I think I have already sent you the no cry sleep solution? Things that helped for us were working really hard on figuring out the best timing of naps, bringing bedtime earliet( at one point bedtime was 5:30pm) and co sleeping when necessary. My son still fed around 3 times a night at 11 months too, he also ate a lot of solids during the day and that made no difference. By 13 months my son no longer needed night feeds and has slept through ever since, he still has his dummy though.no idea how we will get rid of that! yes kiwispeirs but that has not been helping much.

My ds loves yoghurt.due to teething problems he is only eating yoghurt happily. i used to give him glenisk without sugar fruit yoghurt. petits filous has sugar in them so i avoided them. i have recently started giving him normal full fat yoghurt with some fruit puree added. i normally give him fruit puree for breakfast along with some eggs. so whatever fruit i puree i keep little aside for yoghurt too. as for avocado ds hated it the first time i gave him but now he loves it. i mix it with either mango or banana and he loves both combination. plain banana he does not eat at all!

congratulations :) you'll get lots of help on this forum from lovely ladies here :D for exercise if your doc has suggested nothing strenous then don't do anything. after few days you'll start feeling tired so wouldn't want to do anything. apart from walking i used to do gentle yoga to keep muscles engaged. you can do swimming too. join some prenatal classes. for doc you have to go and see 2-3 doc and then see with whom you are comfortable. if you have insurance then clear with the insurance company first about the limit. the more ultrasound you get more you exhaust your limit to be left any for delievery.happened with me first time. more then half of my limit was already exhausted in 3 months! as for books you have plenty to choose from. my preference was first time parents by Lucy Atkins. it was really nice and simple handbook which still comes in handy (my baby is 11 month old) i used to read mostly articles on babycenter and kellymom and offcourse the forum here.

i have seen some big sleeping bags in ikea and if i remember correctly they are priced at 145? but they are not 100% cotton like gro bags. i bought grobags from toy's r us in sale and they costs me around 200 dhs. but they are cotton and very nice altough a bit expensive. i am also on the lookout for bigger size as ds likes to sleep in them and he has already outgrown his grobags. i am currently using one from ikea only which we got as a gift! will keep you posted if i see any good.

that's not necessary Daza. i used to spend lot of time outdoors without any sun screen on (i was lazy in putting it up) still my vit D levels became almost non existent during pregnancy. even after 10 months of delivering they have increased from 5-25 whereas normal should be 250. i am getting shots every 2 months and my liver function test is normal. so after seeing 2 doctors they are unable to tell me the reason behind low levels.i still go out and expose myself and my baby to sun. i have been giving him Vit D drops non stop since after birth as i was concerned after my own levels. but if my levels were fine i probably wouldn't have given him after 6 months. but that's everyones perspective. this is from babycenter- Only small amounts of vitamin D are transferred in breast milk. That's why the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) now recommends that you give your breastfed baby a supplement of 400 IU per day of vitamin D, starting in the first few days of life. Babies who are fully or partially formula fed but drink less than 32 ounces of formula a day also need a daily 400 IU vitamin D supplement . Our bodies produce vitamin D after the skin is exposed to sunshine. But ideally your baby won't be sunbathing at all in the first six months, so he won't get enough vitamin D from the sun – even if you live in a relatively sunny place, such as Florida. The skin of very young babies is extra thin and delicate, and every minute of sun exposure contributes to skin cancer risk and wrinkling later in life – even if the skin doesn't burn. Sunscreen helps keep babies safe in the sun, but it also blocks the rays that enable the body to produce vitamin D. http://sono-ma.com/faqs-is-vitamin-d-necessary-for-breastfed-babies-part-1/

Virgin coconut oil. I use it for everything! This is from a homeopathy website... 100% pure coconut oil is a highly saturated fat expressed from the kernels of the coconut. Coconut oil has long been famed for its gentle moisturising properties. It is an incredibly light, easily absorbed oil that is very similar to skin’s natural moisturiser - sebum. Coconut oil has been used for thousands of years as a skin conditioner around the world and is particularly known for its gentle healing effect on eczema. For this reason coconut oil is the one thing I recommend to all parents of babies suffering from eczema. The best way to use it is when the skin is slightly damp, just having got out of a bath is great, even better if a massage is included! Very often parents comment to me that the results are better than their prescription creams! i use it for my baby's bums :) no diaper rash at all...i just apply daily after wash or nappy change.you are right it will be good in summers. also calendula oil. @beany: where do you buy that oil? edited by angel joy on 06/03/2013

thanks kiwispiers :) i am following redirection but some times he happily engages in other things and some times no! he want that particular thing only and then shows his displeasure by hitting or screaming.from where has he learnt that i don't know. we don't even switch on tv! i am trying different approach from today and lets see if that helps him. i am giving a week's time as he is normally very fast to catch up on routines. i saw those books in kinokuniya but couldn't even go through summary as ds started screaming. next time dh will be playing with him when i goto bookstore :) do tell me how's the book. edited by angel joy on 06/03/2013

as the OP's suggested they are curious but its not good for your posture. and if you have ergo then its not for front facing. you know they are curious for only a few minutes and would happily settle back in the rear facing. try holding in your arms for few minutes then back to sling. i had to do that when ds was small. after few minutes he was happy snuggled to me. at 11 months old he likes now and again to put his stroller seat facing me rather then facing out. so sometimes while walking i hvae to change the seat first!

i am struggling with his nap times for now. i am also maintaining a gap of 3-3.5 hrs max but he fights sleep alot. we struggle for 30 min and he sleeps for 30 min :) afternoon nap he takes for 1.5 hr.then evening is again a struggle as he has recently started walking without holding so after dinner he just keeps on walking :D and playing with his dad. even if i pick him up for sleep he starts pushing me saying "papa papa" and gives us a big grin all the time. actually i go for a walk for 1.5 hr in the evening so after that he just doesn't want to sit still at all! i think time to take out no cry solution out!

KiranB don't stop breastfeeding.you are already doing a good job. my ds is 10 month and i am feeding him. but i also come in that category where you don't loose weight while breastfeeding. when i started initially i lost 17 kgs in just 19 days but it was water weight mostly. then 2 kg crept back and since then no success. recently since past 15 days i have started regular walking for atleast 6 km a day and even if weight loss is 1 kg i can see my muscles toning up. maybe we could go together? my target is 11 kg too. and there are days when i feel so frustrated specially when you see a dress and you don't get it in your size :( but feeding baby is worth it. so i am just hoping that when i stop feeding him maybe weight loss will start. very frustrating to see yourself rounded.i end to eat if i am not feeling good so that also doesn't help me...but if you have started giving solids to your baby you can start by cutting down fried food and ghee completely. i have controlled my potato and rice intake too.
