Congratulations on your job and move to Dubai Agnes :) I bet you are excited, although possibly somewhat overwhelmed I am sure. There are lovely people on here who I am sure will give you the support you need to get settled. Is your son going into Year 9 in September? My friend has also just moved to Dubai and applied for Dubai British School in the Springs for their daughter (where my son goes) as they are still taking applications for Year 9 at the moment. Might be worth getting in touch. We really couldn't be happier with the school and how well my little one is getting on :)

My little one is at Dubai British School in The Springs and he loves it - it's so close to home and loving being able to walk there in this weather. There is a great community feel there so you don't feel like you are alone, the teachers are fab (he always has a new favourite).

My friends are finally moving to Dubai and looking at accommodation. They have been together for years but never married - obviously they will if they have to but didn't want to rush such a big step. Are Hotel Apartments stricter than regular apartments regarding this? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

DBS (Dubai British School) is in the Springs so close to Barsha. I cannot rate them highly enough - my boy and even I love it there and he is thriving. Definitely have a look :) Good luck with your search

I have a little one in Primary at DBS (Dubai British School) but am so happy that he will go on to Secondary there (although I'm hoping that's still a long way off yet). I have lots of friends who are mums of Secondary children at the school who are so pleased with how well they are doing. They get support during exam time, great choices and great teachers too. The GCSE results this year were amazing and topped UK results. 95% got A*-C grades. I think it helps that it is a very supportive school and has a strong community feel. My friends children are polite and friendly too which I think also says a lot about their environment.

Hi MollyMooMoo (love the name) - it is such a minefield looking for schools so my heart is with you right now. I've been lucky to get my son into a school I'm really happy with, love the feel of and is affordable, especially as it offers Secondary too so I know I won't have to go through the move again :) He is currently in Dubai British School in the Springs. I really can't praise this school enough mainly for giving me such a happy boy. Everyone there is supportive and friendly, there is such a personal touch but they have encouraged my little one to really excel.

Hi beebop (love the name). I use the new road that has opened, extending from the Marina and JBR to get to my son's school - it makes a world of difference (anything to do as little driving as possible lol). He is at Dubai British School, is thriving and loving it. There is also Emirates International School nearby and DIA, Hope this helps :)

I'm a huge fan of DBS, as is my little one - sometimes he even gets ready on the weekend asking if we can go to school. The overall feel of the place is friendly, warm and inviting. There's a big community feel and everyone supports each other. The class sizes are great at just 25 (unlike when I was at school and the rooms were bursting with 32-35 students). It makes all the difference having somewhere you feel at home and know is taking an interest in your child as an individual. Definitely recommend this one to you :)

I did the same as lafalot and called my friend in the States and the connection was so clear. I don't have anything magical on my phone and Facetime is blocked but this seemed to work :) Makes such a difference to get hold of friends and family.

Dubai British School I cannot praise enough. My son went to a bigger school before and I just felt he got lost and missed as an individual. He is thriving at Dubai British School and known by everyone. He just seems less overwhelmed and to have the focus from his teachers that he deserves. Academically he has really improved as I believe the level of teaching and learning standards to be high but personally I also believe it's because he is happy. It is a true community school who guide you through every step of the way.

I agree with a lot of the comments above, it is great to get feedback from others but each school suits each child differently. I personally prefer the smaller schools which seem to have more focus and pride in your child as an individual. My son is in Dubai British School and we are so happy to have found a community, family friendly school who really support you and your little one. It's not as overwhelming as the other schools we visited and has amazing academic results. He really is thriving in the environment and benefiting from the high level of teaching and learning standards. I know every parent raves about their own school but we really couldn't be happier.

Dubai British School in The Springs are having their Festive Fair tomorrow, 11th December at 1:30pm. My little one is so excited as he wants to visit Santa's grotto more than anything, bless him :) I know they have a raffle on with great prizes, lots of vendors and craft tables - really get you in the mood for the holidays.

My son joined Dubai British School (DBS) last year and I'm so pleased with his progress, the environment and the opportunities open to him. I'm going to their Open Day this Thursday afternoon (20th November) to see what options are open to my little one in the coming years. Definitely worth looking at schools before making your decision and not relying on opinions...we all have different tastes, experiences and outlooks.

I find it's always best to go and take a look at the School as everyone has different opinions and experiences. I checked the websites, reviews and reports for a school for my son but the best option is to go and see the schools - I know it's time consuming but it is worth it to make the right decision. My little boy is in Dubai British School in Emirates Hills and I'm delighted with the choice I made. They are having an Open Day this Thursday which I will be going to as I want to see more of the older classes he will be going into. Definitely worth taking a look.
