I have one word.... Sore! Lol Ahhh those blooming side lunges and arm raises to the front, I have to do it with no weights, I totally s*^k at it! You would think from carrying a toddler and now another new born I'd have some upper body strength but nope! Lol. Angie Mar, I think DC downloaded her's online way back after DS1 you may be able to do that? Hope you can join us soon!!!

So sorry I didn't post yesterday, busy day. So my starting weight is 83.2 kgs. My overall goal is 66.6 :) which was what I was last time I weighed myself before finding out I was pregnant the first time round. So did my first shred yesterday and went ok... Just need to work on pelvic floor exercises for the jumping jacks ha ha ha

Ok so starting Sunday I will fo the 30 day shred every day except Tuesday and Thursday, the reason for this is I am training with a personal trainer those days. I'm also thinking of joining good habits ... I need a weekly weigh in place to go and that's the only one I know of for here... Or are there others? I find my competitiveness kicks in when I have others around in person doing the same. So that's my plan of action. Prior to DS1 I was training for the RAK half marathon, I was running 10kms a day, plus swimming and gym alternatively... I was so fit. Now.... Ugh! After DS1 I struggled to get any of the last 14kgs off and now after DS2 I'm 19kgs heavier than pre babies. Ideally I'd like to get to 66 again but think I need smaller steps, my first goal is to drop 2 dress sizes back to a aus 12 by September (my birthday) then in November do the 10km fun run, and then feb the RAK half marathon. I'm going to make myself a "positive goal board" ... Hoping seeing the photo of me this big and one of me at my wedding will keep me inspired. Sunday I will check in with my weight using my scales at home and will update here every week on a Sunday to share weight. Also anyone know a weekly weigh in thingy like good habits or has anyone done gh?

That's great that u went to see her. Am waiting on test results from a poop sample of DS2 they think most of the issues I'm having with him relate to lactose intolerance as well as colic and reflux! Blahhhhhhh. Should get results soon. I'm keen. Tanya is away for the weekend (if kiddies got better) but I'm sure we can arrange something soon. Hope everyone is good xox

thx uhad83 i will give that a try. I have moved across from AR formula to comfort now instead. His reflux isn't as bad but he still has it, especially after BF. On my way to the dr with him yesterday - day 6 of no poops he finally does one in the car. I had one very happy chappy greeting me when I opened the car door to get him out, he was beaming smiles at me all so proud of himself. LOL I left the nappy on until just before we saw the Dr and gave it to her. They are running a couple of tests on it, as she believes from what I described to him with symptoms and how he settles, feeds etc that he is lactose intolarant. She also believes he has a trifecta of things with lactose intol, reflux and colic from everything I went through with her. She has now prescribed baby zantac for his reflux and to top it off he has thrush in his mouth - thank goodness i don't have it on my b**bs yet / that I know of (it isn't causing pain) coz that would be bye bye bf'ing days for me. I went through that with my first son for 8-14 weeks (8 weeks before anyone diagnosed it on both of us) and it was more painful than the drug free labour! I would cry almost every time I would have to feed DS1. So thankfully this dr has seen it and we have stuff to get rid of that too. Results from poop should be back today or by saturday at the latest. Will keep you posted. Yesterdays poop was much better consistency and it was 6 days of having swapped formula to comfort. She'd ideally like to see him go every 3 days and that same consitency for him to establish a regular movement which should help with his wind / colic too. We'll see. Fingers crossed... cos 45 mins - 2hrs sleep at night for me about 3 times a week is doing my head in.

Thx. I have been to dr delphine, she is great. I have been meaning to email her and ask about the constipation. I have tried prune juice and warm water with a lump of brown sugar. Drs don't think he is dehydrated but he basically isn't getting enough water to his bowel to keep it soft. Dr loubser explained the consitency should be like you explained kiwispiers but his is thicker plus the even more solid clumps/lumps. Edited to add: Veredque - I don't know I could insert a suppository or been the tip of a thermometer that first doc told me to do. My mum tried that yesterday but with glows and vas aline on her pinky finger (she use to take me to dr for very same stuff as I was constipated baby, but she said she's never seen the lumps DS passed), anyway she did yesterday and he screamed his little head off and it was awful the scream. I'm normally a tough but caring cookie when it comes to stuff like that but for this I wasn't :( edited by AussiePup on 23/05/2012

Hi all, DS2 is suffering big time with constipation and my heart is breaking listening to him scream when he passes wind or feels like he is going to poop. He goes every 3-5 days and dr (2 of them) have said he is too constipated. His poop looks like thick mash potato (mustard colour) with several round more solid clumps about the size of a Dirham that are black/greyish in colour. He is on duphilac(?) and now taking 4mls per day but it is not changing anything. I've tried a little prune juice with warm water too but with his reflux he brings most of it back up straight away. Not sure what else to do. Anyone else experience this with their LO? DH is convinced there is something wrong with DS bowel internally but all research I've done and, second dr, all say that he is just constipated. We are going to dr again tomorrow. But just wondering if anyone else has experienced and what did you do? Some background on his feeding... DS is combination fed, breast and formula due to the reflux. In past weeks I've tried full week of just breast feeding that was still 5 days before he pooped, 2 days of formula only and I expressed and stored milk he went both days (twice on one of these) then again 3rd day whei went back to mostly bf with only 2 night bottles of formula. Since then, he's been 3-5 days before he goes.

Thx! I've noticed DS2 settles much quicker on tummy than if I put him on side or back. ...he also stays asleep longer. I think I will keep with day time naps on tummy for now and go with sides n back at night for a few more weeks. DS1 is a tummy sleeper, although i have found him on his back some nights I've checked on him. I just can't remember when it was he started sleeping on tummy. I know it was before he could roll, but he could lift his head and hold steady for quite some time.

Went back to training at 3 weeks post but took it very easy, trainer specializes in pre n post natal so she kept eye on me ;) Are you doing shred? I'm pumped :)

Ok ladies, the latest for DCs dad Is that they took him off life support today and he has responded to pain tests and seems to be awake!!! They are going to keep testing his brain function. If they think he's more responsive they may consider moving the breathing tube to a tracheostomy. It's been a roller coaster ride for DCs family today and they are all pretty exhausted. Will keep you updated when I hear from her or if she is on at some point I'm sure she will post. EW is like a second family and it is lovely to read all the wonderful support for her and Nomad.

Hi all DC wanted me to firstly thank you for all the wonderful thoughts and support you have been posting. She very much appreciates your kind words. I wish I was about to add some joy to the thread but unfortunately it is quite the opposite... Today DC's Dad is going to be taken off life support. The specialists have said he should pass quickly, he is sedated again so that he will do so peacefully. About 3 hrs ago they were just waiting for family members to get to the hospital and thats the last I heard. Should I hear any further news I will pass it on. Thanks again for your kind words and support for DC during this time. xox Nomad my thoughts are with you and your mum also.

... I think because the door is shut to stop DS2 (8 weeks old) waking his big bro up, DS1 wants to know we are still there because he can't hear the TV or anything like that anymore with his door shut. ... Maybe coincidence and maybe each was going to sleep through anyway once we started leaving doors open...but when you're knackered anything is worth a shot, right? :) oohhh how I envy your LO's!!! DS1 is the lightest sleeper on the planet. Open his door every so quietly and ping... he is awake. We tried keeping it open the first week DS2 was home but without fail DS1 woke when DS2 started crying. We tried again about 2 weeks ago but nope, still wakes him. DS1 was even waking when both bedroom doors were shut and DS2 was crying. I reverted to lying some blankets on the floor and a towel behind the door to soak up the noise!! <sigh> lol

Hi habibti My DS is has slept through 7-6am 30 times only (although may be more than others on the forum) in his almost 2 years. I can tell you most of those 30 nights he's managed to sleep that entire time is because he has had ear / throat infections and he was on antibiotics which helped him sleep!. We tried a lot of different sleep training methods and was nearly tearing hair out especially when I knew #2 was on his way. We ended up doing CIO it was the most horrid time of my life because he was rather stubborn and took a good week before he settled and listening to him cry and eventually scream because he was angry we weren't going in (we use to have to sit with him for 1.5hrs when he would wake up, if he heard us move he would wake instantly and cry as soon as we would get out the door). For one week after it, bliss! - no wakes ups... then a few nights after there were a couple of wake ups but because during the CIO time he attached to his glow worm teddy (finally!!) he would settle himself (YES!!! we were thinking)... now he is back to waking at least once a night and DH and I don't like to hear him scream so we go in tell him we are here and we love him and he lies back down and we leave the room. Unless we change his nappy then we are in there for no more than about 20 seconds. He settles instantly by himself, I think because the door is shut to stop DS2 (8 weeks old) waking his big bro up, DS1 wants to know we are still there because he can't hear the TV or anything like that anymore with his door shut. DS2... well I know he is only 8 weeks old but he is awake every 1.5 hrs from 7pm to 4am and then is very unsettled from 4am to 7am. I have just asked for help from friends and they have suggested a book called "Save Our Sleep" by Tizzy Hall. Not sure if it is here in Dubai but can be ordered online. I'm about to give this a go. 8 friends recommended it so think it may be worth a go. Good luck... might be worth trying Jo as well me thinks.

i haven't had the best times b'feeding both my two however this time around I was a lot more relaxed about the whole thing and wanted to give it a good go at least... I have been seeing Dr Delphine at MotorCity and she is brilliant. I have also hired a hospital grade pump. Dr Delphine has the number of the people that have them. It was wwaaaaaaay better than my mini electric one I had. This helped regulate my milk and it didn't hurt my b**bs at all! (unlike the mini). My baby is suffering from Reflux (quite bad) and so far even with prescriptions for stuff from Dr, I have found the only thing that really settles him when he is at his worst is Aptimal AR forumla, so I do combination feeding. Last time I hated feeding out in public with bf'ing cover... but this time I am happy to say I've managed it twice and I do thank people on here who have been so very supportive even just reading what they post for others having trouble and Dr Delphine. All the best with the arrival of your 4th LO. supermum!!! ;) (I have always wanted 4 children but I think DH is terrified of anymore) lol.

thx kiwispiers... in reply i can tell you that I did almost an entire week of b'feeding. DS got 3 bottles of formula on the 2nd to last day of the week just b'feeding. I did the week of it because I wasn't sure if I did take dairy or changed my diet in anyway wasn't sure how long things would take to get out of system... so other than the 2nd to last day where he was just screaming blue murder because he was starving (i think milk was quite low that day for some reason - was fine again day after) he had 3 bottles of formula that day and after each formula feed he did settle quicker but about 1 hr later would be in pain again... I have now noticed that if I do this (BF first then formula) this is the common pattern. If I only do formula then we get 4 hrs sleep and barely any crying in pain, there may be a bit related to "bottom" wind but lasts no more than a few minutes and he'll relax and pass it and then is fine again. I thought perhaps it could be the lactose overload... DS1 is sensitive to lactose. Any milks, cheese etc. He is on rice milk because of it. When I asked Dr about DS2 and this he said it could be lactose issue as it is hereditary... I can eat cheese but as soon as I have any milk (even just in a small tea or coffee) i'm racing to the bathroom about 20 mins later. Ice-cream takes a bit longer but has same affect... so other than cheese and some yoghurt every now and then I don't tend to have dairy either. Funny enough though, during pregancy with this LO I couldn't get enough cream, ice-cream and milk!!! As soon as he was out, had no desire for it at all. Even had my regular decaf white chocolate mocha from starbucks a few days later (that I usually get with cream!!!) and didn't like it that much at all and sure enough - raced to the bathroom 20 mins after. LOL. So perhaps we do have senstivities to lactose. I am still going BF and bottle feeding. I tend to BF him during the day as I can deal with him being upset a bit easier than during the night when the screaming keeps the entire household awake - so formula from 9pm onwards which until 5.30 in the morning is only 2 bottles. ive expressed at the 9pm and then at midnight so that if I do go back to full b'feeding then my supply at those times are still there. I've a stack of frozen milk now and am hoping that perhaps by 12 weeks ??? he may not have reflux as bad anymore and then instead of any subsitutes with formula I can give the ebm. He did have tongue tie and that was snipped. Also seeing a chiro to get his pallet (sp) and muscles in his mouth sorted. they were a bit lazy on the left so he was taking in a lot of air at times. this time i am more relaxed about feeding than i was with DS1 so happy to continue, wouldnt have spent $ on trips to dr delphine and chiro for DS if i wasnt going to keep going, but at the same time seeing him in this renching pain after bf is pulling at the heart strings. :(

Ok I am trying to type 1 handed here as DS finally settling in arms. What I have noticed is Emb or bf - either way he is in the worst pain. - he also spits up with both these - arches back, flicks head around fussing, kicks and screeches in pain Lactose free and or AR formula - same discomfort wise which is better than ebm or bf - lactose still spits up a little - AR hardly spits up at all - has symptoms as described above only some feeds and on lower scale Sorry he getting grumpy again, more to write later...

Hi All Anyone give birth recently to a baby girl and call her Darsi and organise babysteps to do the birthcertificate last week? If so I have your Arabic birth certificate and you potentially have mine which is for a baby boy Alexander. They have given me the right english version but wrong arabic one. My email is shareeness at hotmail dot com if you think it is you then please email me. I have called the driver who organised mine, he was meant to come between 3-5pm tonight but hasn't come. I've also called babysteps twice and got their answering service to which I left a message on the first time asking someone to call me back. Unfortunately without the right arabic version we can't get visa. Cheers.

Congrats to priti99 and coffeegal! Lovely news! I thankfully have my mum still here, she has been fantasic as my little man I think is colicy. She's been getting DS1 in the mornings when he wakes and keeping him fed and occupied as I deal with the crying, winding and sometimes I get some sleep in between. I feel so sorry for DS1 he is missing me and I'm missing him. When DS2 and I surface mum takes him and I spend time with DS1 if DS2 calms down and doesn't want to feed again. I'm finding feeding is the only thing that calms him down but 10-20 mins after his is pulling legs up screeching yet again with wind pain and it goes on allllllll day (for past few days especially). I've cut out dairy (not that I ate much other than chocolate) Im taking fennel tea hoping it helps to settle his belly if some goes through milk... And we have an osteo/chiro appointment Wednesday. Not sure where else to go/what to do to help the poor little guy. Warm bath helps a bit, legs cycle not so much, massage a little helps too. Currently averaging 2-4 hrs of sleep on good nights. :( blah! Hope everyone else is doing alright.xox

I certainly don't think b'feeding comes naturally. I struggle because I am large chested and I feel uncomfortable outside of the house feeding. Even in mall rooms that are built specifically, I don't know but just not relax enough. I hated bf with DS1 and think the only reason I managed to get o 5.5 mths with him doing bf and ff in combination was because I felt so guilty in that I wanted him to get the best he could from me but also because I'm competitive and challenge myself a lot, and when mostof my friends were able to do it so easily I thought I should keep going. In the end I'm glad I got to where we did, I had thrush on b**bs for 14 weeks on and off plus cracked n*pples too so it wasn't a pleasant experience at all. This time I was going to try but if I went through anything like last time swore I would for my own and my families peace of mind, I would go to formula and not stress. Thankfully this time has been a completely dif experience. DS2 did have tounge tie but thx to Dubaicat recommending dr Delphine, thought I would give her a try. If there was one thing I learnt from first time around, is that it was good to seek help when things weren't going right ... I left it too long first time around, this time I wasn't going to! Feeding is different now... Baby is finally latching, over his jaundice and feeding better than first week. I've emailed dr Delphine when ever I have had any qtns or wasn't sure of something and the support from her has gee brilliant. She also recommended the breastfeeding support group BFC mentions. Good luck with it all. Sing out if you need an ear! Xox

Hi lmao-dxb How far pregnant are you? Sorry, yes imalittle pre-occupied to keep up with everyone's term atm. :) We did Jordan when was 16-17 weeks pregnant with the first. Petra is a loooooooong day If you do it. On feet from8-5pm but then that's because we decided just after lunch around1pm we would go to oneofthe top monasteries (sp) which was 850 steps up the mountain (no hand rail and steps are basically cutin the mountain so not neat even steps). I was rather fit before before and through first pregnancy...there would have been no way I could have done it this recent pregnancy. The Petra walk is about 5km round trip to just do the main bottom tour guide bit. Having said that it is well worth doing!!! You can get a private driver / tour guide which is what we did, it was our honeymoon after all so we splurged a little. For the life of me I can't remember where we stayed on the dead sea but any of those resorts along there would be beautiful, that was very relaxing. Not able to go float in deadsea though or the salt water pools they had at the resort because too high salt content for pg women apparently. Had signs up saying do not go in if pregnant. Doh. Oh yes just reading PCM reply re horse and cart, you could do that but again, deep ding on how far pg you are... I probably wouldn't :) some of the horses and carts look like they are about to fall apart. Also you can get a donkey ride up the mountain in Petra but our tour guide advised against it as they are not covered by any insurance etc so you do it at your own risk... Again not an option I would choose even not pregnant. Amman is nice too but bit of walking about to see sights. I did love it there and we certainly want to go back and check out more along the deadsea coast line. You need a good 5 days or more if you want to see a few things. Doing Petra over just a weekend and thats about all, I think is hard slog for anyone... You'd need a holiday to get over your holiday! Check out living social page and maybe try the RAK deal ey have on today. Bay an tree resort I think. Get 2 nights there for a little break. If however you are up for the more touristy thing, and arent to heavily pg then Jordan is do-able, just be sure to tact on the relaxing resort stuff for 2-3 days at the end! Hth xox

Wonderful news twinsmum and sparkly. Congrats to you both! My mum is here at moment so not sure I can make the catch up but will email you Tanya to find out details. Sparkly, I have had issues with feeding to. I have been seeing dr Delphine at motor city and she has been brilliant with helping us. Feel totally at ease and you never feel like she has to get to the next patient. I think lactation appointments she books you in for 1-1.5 hrs and the other day we were easily in there for 1.5 or tad longer. The best thing I think I have done though is hire a hospital grade double expressing pump it's sooooooo much gentler but way more effective pumping than any of the other pumps I've tried.

Depending on where you have your baby ... The rules may change! If you are at city, my understanding is if you have oxitocin to induce labour then you are strapped to monitors monitoring baby heart rate and your contractions... I was allowed to sit on ball but the monitors then wernt in right position and therefore not recording what the doc required so bed I pretty much had to stay. If you have an epidural, bed you have to stay too. Up until any of this happens or you reader it, then you are free to do what you want, shower, walk around etc. I almost babysat for a friend whilst she was in the hospital for a specialist appointment but when she found out I was in active labr and waters broke she decided to keep her kiddies with her instead... But I could have happily looked after then for a while :) All the best for your birth experience!

I'm trying breastflow first yr bottles for ds2 as he won't take the others. These seem good... He takes it at least. Re the t-shirt thing, u won't have to always keep supplying your smell, just use it initially to get him use to bottle. As for restoring, I have if DS hasn't finished it, but then I am not sure we are meant to? Someone else may need to answer that :) Other option is to maybe try when he is hungry, may take it?

Thx all. Had my first experience of both of them crying at same time tonight. I went to older one first and just quietly said "yes you can hear your brother, but mummy needs you to be a big boy and go back to sleep" he did thankfully! I can't wait to have them playing together. DS1 loves having company with his friends over, today a friend popped by with her DD and they played chasey (20 mth and 15 mth olds version of chasey that is!) lol. It was very cute. Oh and I soooo hope you are right re weight dropping off, have 18kgs to lose taking me back to pre DS1 weight.

Awww sorry to hear the babies seem to be staying put a little while longer :( it may be for the best though as DS born 37w 5 days, my lactation consultant and doctor said the troubles I'm experiencing with his feeding (won't latch to me) may be due to his sucking reflexes not as strong as they could be if he had cooked a bit longer. Dunno how much truth is in that... Prob a bit I would think. I only just got hair etc done in time too! He he.

Hi Poppy82 I have had an ectopic pregnancy too and lost my right tube as it burst (we were camping!!! I had no idea it had burst but it had and was bleeding into a ligament so wasn't bleeding into my stomach area - very lucky). It was removed laprascopically. As other posters have said the the obgyn can save your tube they will. The ectopic was my first pregnancy but even with one tube I can assure you ... you can get pregnant! I have just had my 2nd baby boy which totals 4 pregnancies (only 2 boys, 1 ectopic, 1 miscarriage). If you really aren't sure please get a second opinion and do it fast because it can be life threatening to you. Sorry to hear you have to go through this, sing out if you need support. I had never heard of ectopic pregnancy until I had it.

Pingu's little man is just divine! Congrats again! Happened to meet her at city today whilst we were there awaiting jaundice a results. My DS wasn't far off being admitted again yesterday becauseof it and it has meant trips yesterday and today and Monday back to city to have bloods done. Blah! Yes anyway, pings little man is gorgeous as is his big sister. Lovely to meet you today pingu and hope doc sends you home tomorrow but be sure to rest up and take it easy!!! All the best nimonemo and twinsmum looking fwd to hearing your news. Oh dear Tanya hard work the 24/7 thing hey!? DS suffers mostly from wind from 1.30 feed so I sit upright in bed holding him too. Yoou should see the bags forming under my eyes from not sleping properly! I hope she improves for you. DS is such a lazy feeder and won't latch, I'm expressing and feeding him by bottle but even that has been a challenge at times (have tried 3 dif bottles in one feed yesterday). Even then, the next feed he might not re-take from same bottle. Grrr. Cheeky monkey (hence the reason for him being jaundice too lazy rascal). Seeing dr Delphine at motor city tomorrow for a lactation appointment, Saw her Wednesday and have to say she was brilliant so highly recommend her if anyone else having trouble. Heres hoping I can boost my supply and get DS to latch. Sleep time! Nite. edited by AussiePup on 24/03/2012

Hi all, well as we thought DS2 came early march 18th. We are home now. I posted on due march thread the other day. For those who didn't read it, I got to hospital for check up 37w 5 days withe dr Elsa, got up on the table for her to check how things were going... And well went straight to labour ward! Lol. I was near 4cm dilated and had no idea. DH and I spent the car drive there (I was driving!) discussing if all things are ready should I have the sweep... Decision was no, we'd come ba ck Wednesday (today) for it. Ha ha ha! When dr Elsa said we may as well do it coz I was 4cm I cried! Lol so wasn't ready for that. But all done now and I spent mothers day home with all my boys DS1 DS2 DH and the 2 male dogs! Labour was fantastic just got in with an epidural this time. Phew! Got to giggle DS2 out ... Literally as I had some nasty varicose veins dr didn't want to give me episiotomy so had to do it gently so a little giggle was what helped him out with last contraction, I got to see dr Elsa catch him and feel his head when he crowned, it was so lovely! Also had a beautiful new midwife Donne, she was just wonderful and so supportive. Wishing you all the very best for your births. Look fwd to reading the lovely news. Xox

All the best for tomorrow pingu! I hope your lil miss decides to make the entrance on her own twinsmum but all the best if she doesn't. You too nimonemo. Found out today DS2 had tongue tie, feeding has been soooo painful. Dr snipped it today and the feeds afterwards no pain!! Just wish the little rascal would actually feed, he is so lazy!
