Cuddling my little man as I type... He's so cuddly and its lovely to experience him with us instead of being whisked off to nicu like his big bro was. Weighing in at 3.5kgs and 56cm he has such a chubby little face. He has loads of dark hair opposite to DS1. My midwife Donne was just beautiful and Dr Elsa awesome. I opted for an epi this time and phew!!! I got in just in time lol. Dr Elsa was in about 20 mins after I had it and it was almost time to start pushing. 15 mins approx for pushing. Overall a beautiful experience and I can't wait for his big bro to meet him tomorrow (I miss my big little guy so much today). But this little one just as awesome and it feels so natural and perfect to have him out. Thx for the wishes ladies, all the best for those still hanging on. Xox

awww lovely redleaf congratulations and wow, yes not so little girl tee hee hee although having said that I think hitting the 3.5kg and above mark is about "average" these days, babies and kids just seem to be getting bigger and taller! Congratulations again. Yep well my official due date is the 4th of April but I thought he'd arrive in March... still got 2 weeks of that left I suppose so gues we will see. I see Dr Elsa tomorrow. I don't know that he is down far enough for a sweep or if I'm even ready for it. I think tomorrow will be a wait and see and am thinking if we can do a sweep we might opt for Tuesday / Wednesday. I just really do not feel organised at all this time around. The crib isn't even together. DH said he'll do it when the baby arrives. LOL. We were talking in bed last night saying how surreal this all feels (it wasn't a planned pregnancy) and I think (even though we are delighted) the thought of 2 already has kind of got us in a bit of shock. Especially when we are enjoying DS1 so much right now. Ahh, I'm sure it will all be fine once things start happening (I say sipping on raspberry leaf tea and considering ordering a spicy curry). ;) Pingu - all the best for Thursday. I will post on here or I will get DubaiCat to post on here on my behalf if we are in at the same time. xox

Thx all. Think we have decided to go with the elc car garage, I took him to buy a present for a friends birthday party (that we my not make it to depending on when DS2 decides he's going to enter) and DS1 sat for half hour in the shop playing with the car and the garage, couldn't get him to leave, time outs for not listening to mummy didn't even work (usually I just have to threaten time out and he listens) ... So the garage may be the winner :)

Congrats Ayda247! Great news. I am loving being a mum but seriouslly underestimated how difficult breastfeeding would be.....total respect for all bfeeding mums! Inever knew it would be so hard....my poor b##bies are in bits so using shields for a bit...they are my saviour...please tell me it gets easier!!! Ohhh do I hear you gc. First time or me was horrid! Will see how things go this time around. I had thrush on both sides for almost 14 weeks, it was constant until finally a lactation consultant worked out what it was at around 8 weeks then I got cream etc for it but still kept rearing its ugly burning head til about 14 week mark. I used shields too. Make sure you clean them and sterilize very very well! I found expressing way more less painful so also did that for quite some time until thrush had gone. So yes whilst it might be nasty and hard at times it can get easier :) hang in there! Seek help with lactation consultant if you need. Apparently dr Delphine in motor city comes highly recommended.

many people who haven't suffered depression or haven't been around it do not understand that for some people who are sufferes they just can't snap out of it. Many of the times it is the instance between husband and wife... one may have depression but the other thinks he/she should just do something to cheer themselves up or "snap out of it" and get on with life. This is so common and can usually set the other person in a more downward spiral. Working together on the other hand or having an understanding partner can certainly make a lot of difference. I think it is fantastic you have taken the first step for yourself hiccup and as many of the other posters have said you will feel a range of emotion each time you speak to the therapist. Different therapists will also have different methods. It is normal to think when you go there and come out things should be better (instantly) or the therapist will have all the answers and be able to provide you with loads of advice for the direction you need, but there are a number of different theraputic/counselling methods. The best thing you can do is be open to the sessions and be honest for yourself in them. The best work for yourself will come from that honesty within. Some weeks you may feel on top of the world go to a session and then think "why on earth did I go, I feel like rubbish now!?" and then other times it will be complete opposite and you will come out liberated, energised and ready to take the universe on. Take each day as it comes, and each session as it comes too. It may be worth keeping a journal and writing down how you feel at specific moments or just something to download in at the end of the day. I often go through phases of keeping a journal and some days when I feel blue, angry / think the world is out to get me I have no words so I litterally just draw circles or scribble in it. I have almost finished my degree in Psychology and Counselling and prior to starting it I never thought one should be medicated, that talk therapy and behavioural / dietary ways should be looked at first before medication but now I learning what I've learnt, having a friend with bipolar, a few friends with pnd and a sister with anxiety issues, I understand that sometimes meds are required due to that chemical imbalance. Foods are important and can help change some of the imbalance but othertimes your body needs that extra help. So I agree with what DC says re the med situation if the therapist feels it is necessary. IMHO I think a couple of sessions before medication decision is certainly the right way to go. And its ok either way if you need them or not. My other 2 cents worth is... DH and I have done couples counselling. We wouldn't be married now without having been to it. Hope you get a good nights sleep. xox

oh yes if you would like some dinners to shove in the freezer for you or the LO's please let us know. I have pots of lasagna and veggie soup already in our freezer that I'd be happy to share as I currently have the nesting bug of cooking so can happily make more for us or for you if you would like, they are already in pots sorted for kiddie size and adult portions :) opening up to people you love can sometimes be very hard, in some instances harder than a stranger (hence why a counsellor a good option) but it may also be beneficial to have someone there physically to help you. Also, whilst us cyber strangers is comforting at times to to rely on for support, it is much better to have a person there physically. I hope you can find that someone to trust in while you go through this. Sunshine and getting out for some air also very good idea even if you can only manage to get out the backyard (assuming your not in an aptmnt).

Thx tartiflette. Yes happy with sani service... Even when we thought there was something wrong about 2 mths after they had been out to do the clean, they sent a few guys out to check it at no charge they did another small general clean like what most maintenance companies do. Problem wasn't actually anything to do with a/c at all... Whoops :) but they did what they did and were very professional. If we move from this horrid villa I will call them again to check the next place we move into.

Thx all. We have a ride on motorcycle which is a huge hit. DS even gets his bike "helmet that he has for when daddy takes him for rides on the big bicycle" and puts that on before getting on his little push around motorcycle, so funny. Laptop suggestion a goodie, might work too coz DH and I have tablets with games on them and he loves playing with them or trying to use the actual laptop when we aren't looking! Cars... Yes DS is quite keen on cars he got one off the shelf (matchbox like size) at the petrol station the other day as I was getting money out, he took the car up to the lady at the counter and waited for me to go pay for it! Lol. He has seen those bouncy things in kidville before and is very interested in them...could also be a good idea. Now I just have to haul my 37 week a** shopping :)

I went to the osteo today and she thinks baby is snug and in for a longer ride than I am expecting. she says there is still quite a bit of room in my pelvic region. See what Dr says on Sunday but I suppose lots can change in a few days (here's hoping). is it mothers day here on Sunday 18th? Hope everyone else hanging on is going ok and all the new mummies doing well. How are newbie mummies coping with little sleep (for first timers or those who have been there before) DS 1 is waking at 6.10am and it is driving me mental. I like it closer to 7am thank you very much!!!

Think of it this way... And hopefully it might help?.... Unless you and DH make time for each other and spend time out together doing the things you use to do pre children, then you're only going to end up down a split road you traveling one way and him another. Life stressors (I.e work n kids) are around and before kids you could just go and do somethingtogeher to unwind... Now of course not so easy but still just as important as it was before! It gets easier as you leave them for a bit longer each time and even though yes you end up talking about them together and missing them terribly, trust me when I say you will have a greater appreciation of kids and husband if you do actually make the time to be together kiddy-less! DS will be perfectly fine and if I'm not in labour we can always go play so he has familiarity for a bit (depending who you leave him with)... Go and enjoy yourselves together for a few hours the one of you head home. :) You guys should have a regular date night each week or at least each fortnight. You both need it for the Heath of your relationship and family! All parents do me thinks ;) Xox

Congratulations Gingercat!!! Hope all is going well there :) Saw Dr yesterday and my c-section still booked for 22 nd March, we will be 38 +3, so happy we making it past the 36 week mark not like with my DD last time :) He is breech but very comfy in their apparently - mom not so much lol I am a bit confused as to what to do on the day - I was thinking of sending DD to school as normal (she is almost 5) and getting a friend to fetch her and then DH can get her after (C-section time is 8am) so we are all almost settled in by the time she arrives. My mom will be here to help and reckon she will be at the hospital from early and most of the day, so wondering if I mustn't rather include my DD and keep her off school and she can be in the hospital for when I just come out and meet her new brother straight away! Very confusing - don't know what to do!! Oh AussiePup :( SOrry to hear your news, not long to go, try hang in there x edited by Pingu on 09/03/2012 Thx, it's rather uncomfortable but that's just the norm for this entire pregnancy I'm afraid. Yes not long to go now. Might be in hospital around the same time as you pingu. As for your dd, I think keep her routine of going to school normal as can be. Perhaps explain to her that when she gets picked up after school she will get to meet her new brother. It may give her something exciting to talk about during the day but also then she isn't kept at the hospital seeing mummy bing wheeled off and potentially getting upset. What time is school out for her? If it's 2ish then could DH pick her up and bring her to you as bubs would be well out and you would have had time together etc before getting her? All the best for the 22nd pingu.

so I jumped on here last night to write my reply but accidentally clicked the cancel button on my ipad (god I hate touch screens!!) and then couldn't be bothered starting again. Today I'm on the laptop!!! No mistakes (unless brain not functioning... which of course is highly possible!) LOL. So sorry to hear your cheeky munchkin has gone loop to loop and swung the other way round CABear. Have fingers crossed for you that he / she turns back around in time for the grand entrance ;) I am similar story to you CoffeeGal, although cervix is still posteria at this stage. I have my strep B and check up tomorrow officially, but found myself at City Thursday afternoon being checked as I was having regular contracts (or what I thought were). My stomach was tightening up between 10-18 mins and it felt exactly as it did with DS1 and I had no idea I was actually in labour that day. So I thought I best get there to get checked. I think it was mostly me doing too much and putting too much stress on my body as the tightening happened when I was up walking around, but when sitting down in the hospital it basically stopped. Dr checked me and said cervix is soft but still towards the back so probably another 10-14 days taking me to the 37-38 week potentially 39 if I choose not to do the sweep at 38 like I did with DS1. I was already in labour though when the dr did the sweep... just think it helped things on a little quicker, as I probably wouldn't have ended up in hospital until the night of the morning I actually had him, whereas the sweep just got things moving faster (I think)... and he was born 8am. My DH is away too for a few days but away this week. Potentially has Abu Dhabi to go to on Wed and Thurs next week and week after but thats not too bad I suppose. He is back Wednesday this week. Tonight I have a bunch of girlfriends coming around for some pampering, we are having mani / pedi's and head / shoulder massages plus Thai T/A. mmm mmm!!! Should be a lovely evening :) I did something similar prior to DS1 too... not so much of a baby shower but figure baby will be spoilt enough when he gets here so really pampering mummy is required at this time :) All the best girls for who ever "pops" first ;) xox

it doesn't generally hurt, just depends on your level of pain tollerance I suppose. I didn't have any pain relief for labour with DS1 and found it ok pain wise but then my internal check up for DS2 just this Thursday was a bit sore so I was thinking to myself "whats with that!?" , I have purely put it down to not relaxing enough and being rather tired, I think that my body is feeling a little more sensitive this pregnancy. I also think I hear the epidural calling my name this time. LOL. Try think happy thoughts or take your mind somewhere else from what the dr is doing :)

I found each time this started happening we went up a nappy size and it solved the problem. Dont always expect that because the baby isn't at the max weight that the nappy says it caters for, that he still should fit that size. The other alternative is to give a different nappy a try. We used pampers active during day but found the pampers premium a lot more absorbable at night. But again if he started to leak we worked out it was time to go up a size

Oh that sounds nasty Ayda247! I hope you are feeling much better now! I too feel like a huge balloon, only a lead one! I'm still a little behind most you ladies too with being due 1st wk April but figure he will be a marchie.... Actually I'm hoping he will coz my pelvis and back aren't liking things very much. My bp too is doing such weird things. When I'm at what others would call normal I feel like I've had red bull or like I'm going to faint. But when it's low, like 90 over 58-60 low, I feel totally fine. Last Wednesday I had 129 over 89 then 124 over 84 which really made me see stars, but it's come down now to 115-130ish over 66-72. As soon as I hit 117+ over 70ish I get that funny feeling. So weird. Xox

Hi Sparky, Our LO was born at City hospital and they requested we bring in our original marriage certificate (I remember because DH had to run home specifically to get it). However, they only ended up needing a copy. They never asked for our passports, or even copies. If you are delivering at City I would highly recommend using a service to handle the birth certificate. I can't even remember what it was called but it was great, they told you exactly what was needed to complete the birth certificate, they came out to our villa to collect all the documents and deliver them to the next step, and then when the birth certificates are complete, they deliver the back to your villa. I think the cost was around 300dhs but it saved us a bunch of time and hassle. Maybe give City a call, DH seems to think that someone working in that dept told him about it. Hope this helps. This service was fantastic. Certainly well worth doing. The midwives at city should know the name of the company and have their number, alternatively you can ask for sister Marty in maternity at city (the she still there?) she will have it because she was the one who gave it o us when we did antenatal classes there. We just took a. Copy of our marriage certificate and passport/visa copies. edited by AussiePup on 21/02/2012

We gave a bonus (1 mths salary) to her at Xmas plus a tv and the own phillipnes channel. We also have baby number 2 on the way probably coming around her birthday lol. So it's going to get crazier in our household. Hmmm I will talk it over with my husband. I guess the hard thing is if I'm putting her salary up, am I going to start the wave of "but I get xxxx" in the maid circle and be partly responsible for other maid demanding more? I don't think she discusses this much with ppl she doesn't know but then it does really just take 1 person to hear it doesn't it! Lol. But then on the other hand.... By actually being that "listener" eves dropper once, i have found out that her niece is here 22 yrs old working for a family with 3 children under 4 I think and is in a house of similar size to us and being paid the same we pay ours who has experience of being here 4 yrs and singapore with another family for a cpl of yrs. The niece found the work to hard and has since changed families I think but still I think I should give ours a pay increase of some sort given we love her and she has exp! I will discuss with DH later. I might do 2 movie tix, some $ and the keepsake. Or if I can find out where she goes with her best friend for her hair cuts maybe I can get her a voucher from there too. Thx all.

well at least I'm not the only one worried about it. Bath sounds good TanyaR... although say he does come before ambulance etc arrive then how do I position him etc? do with the umbilical cord / placenta? I really shouldn't think this stuff because its likely to talk myself into it actually happening, but seriously if you'd got a snippet of my dreams lately you would swear they are real so... I just wanna be prepared. LOL. I also dreamt and keep having the same day dream that I end up driving myself to the hospital and meet DH there. This is second bubba... first one I got to hospital at 3am when contractions were stronger but in no timeable pattern really. I was 3cm, by 5am 5cm and they broke my waters and at 7am 10cm. 8am he was out (and that was after 1hr 5 of pushing... so this time given everything so bloomin loose surely it wont take that long to get him out!?).

Days I had no sugar at all other than what's natural in strawberries, were the days I wasn't suffering and redness would go by next day. Days where I did want something sweet I used an ointment called dermovate provided way more relief than the others (avail at chemist). I've also started on a probiotic (tablet) taking 2 a day and thankfully this past 8 days or o on that plus having a sweet tooth for ice-cream I haven't had it return at all. Hope you can sort it out, it's nasty! :(

Hi all, nearly ticking over to 34 weeks now. Had check up this week, got wicked scan time face to face with bubba, he poked tongue out a couple of times and we could see him actively moving his mouth up and down like he was eating. It was cool. Dr Elsa checked me for the SPD pingu, I don't have it, but what could be causing the pressure around my groin region is the big fat varicose vein I have dwn there. On medication for that for the next month now. Bp went for a hike yesterday ... Never had it like it was, I'm normally a low to normal bp range. Saw stars getting up too quickly, thought it was low pressure as when I was t drs it was very low, so I checked it with our machine a few times and was surprised to be at 124 over 89. That's hugely high for me! Lol. Monitored today and I'm back down to 111 over 66. Bit more normal. Am really struggling to keep up with DS1 he is so fast the cheeky monkey! The groin pain a bit much for chasing after him. Wearing a belly belt now too which does provide some support but it's awful to sit down in as the Velcro at the back scratches me si much, not made that well. A friend has leant me another to try which I will give a go tomorrow. All the very best with your births ladies. Xox

My first obgyn here told me not to put on anymore than 12kgs. Ha ha ha ha ha I'd basically done that by 20 weeks but then things slowed down until the last 2-3 weeks (and DS arrived at 38 weeks), I put on 7.5kgs in those last couple. In the end I put on about 25kgs. I lost all but 9 of it by 4 mths after the birth but then put 5kg bk on in 4 weeks using the mini pill... Not to mention the hormone craziness! I came bk off it and then got my backside to the gym training my butt off 5 days a week plus walking everyday about 3km. That 14kg didn't move!! I fell pg this time starting 14kgs heavier, but as for this pg weight I have only put on 8kgs. I am waiting to see what the next few weeks brings as I draw nearer to due date... I'm also making sure I drink loads more water so hopefully I don't get any fluid retention. So that being said, everyone is different... Don't be too phased about it...I still laugh at the first obgyn comments, needless to say I actually changed doc through the first pg. Everything in moderation... For you AND the baby he he he! Just if you do put on, don't expect to shed it b'feeding, I was one of those unfortunates that sure as heck didn't lose anything!

DS has dairy intolerance or so we believe, not officially tested, but give him regular milk and his belly is tight and bloated and he wakes 3-4 times a night with wind. I have been advised (especially for boys) by 2 naturopaths to steer clear of soy and try almond, oat or rice milk. We tried oat milk it gave DS awful nappy rash. Tried almond milk, works well but his skin gets a little dry plus it's 18 aed a carton and haven't found it anywhere other than organic cafe shop. So we have been on rice milk for past 2 mths almost and that works fine. I recently consulted back with my naturopath in Australia and she suggested mostly use rice milk with maybe 1-2 cartons of almond milk during week mixing it up. DS doesn't burp anymore after milk feeds which he did right up until we made the change off dairy. I also give him a multivitamin which safe to do so from 1 yr and a pro biotic, so on the days he may get a little cheese, custard or yoghurt (probiotic natural yoghurt only) he isn't suffering with wind and is digesting things better.
