Hi ladies, I had asked the exact same question back in August on the Pregnancy forum, Pixie2011 and there seemed to be a lot of positve replies. I will be delivering at welcare inshallah and have just completed 34 weeks. (first child was via c-section!) Mac123, can you give us some more details pls? so sorry abt your experience! I had a failed epidural at al wasl with my first baby thus the nervousness now! After the 4 attempts, did the epidural actually work and how did your delivery go?

oh dear , how bothersome to be changing insurances right now, Pingu! All the best to you and I know you are feel because my DH's and DS's insurance was not going to be covered by my work any more starting this year but after much negotiation (in other words begging) they have agreed to keep them on - thank goodness! This means that Lil Peanut coming in march will be covered too once they arrive and that is a great relief.

ladies, has anyone tried doing this and do you think its a good idea? So far DH and I have bought everything brand spanking new and all that is left is a Mothercare 140 x 70 cm mattress to go with the cot-bed we bought. i have seen one for sale for second-hand and was tempted to buy it but wasn't sure whether it was a good idea..what do you think?

Thank you all ladies - your stories are wonderful and some very similar to mine! Whats important is that the baby arrives safely..i will chat to DH about this and continue to monitor Peanut's growth. Thank you, Banana and Shella in particular for sharing your stories and am glad that your second c-sections were a lot calmer and went better than your first ones - that is exactly what i am hoping for myself! :) hugs to everyone. xxxoox

thank you ladies! I don't know why I feel ashamed about secretly wanting a c-section..i am keeping track of Peanut's size and if he/she seems to be turning into another 4 kg baby then c-section it is! I am feeling more in control and less in a panic with this c-section as it will be planned out in advance and not a manic emergency like last time...still remember al wasl nurses trying to feverishly remove my wedding ring and making me sign a consent form while being rushed into theater...I was put under completely and missed the birth of my baby. I have heard so much about One Born Every Minute..must look this up tonight!

If you are asking 'where' as in where can you get it done then there are a couple of sports stores in Mirdif CC who do it for you..you can look up the website directory for their telephone numbers and ring them and check.

I am 32 weeks and bought a bigger cup size and width size..this will work for me I think...I personally don't find a WORLD of difference between a 38 and a 40, for example so you can always go up one size from your normal..

Thank you , sweetlily, I am booked at Welcare this time round and happy with the service so far - the head of the maternity ward is this lovely SA midwife called Amanda with a very reliable no-nonsense air about her. She also is the one running our antenatal classes for us. Had a bit of a 'bleeding' emergency a couple of weeks ago and, as promised, she was right there and was a great comfort. Would love to have a doula but don't think I can afford one to be honest as we are on single income at the mo and are trying to be careful. Thanks for replying though :)

thank you, sweetlily - I will read up on this! My experience with Al wasl was not good although I am not putting them down as I have heard other ladies rave about them and everyone's experience is different. I would feel so victorious if I had a natural birth but still very sacred of having another failed epidural! I need to calm down and think this through..maybe i should at least try again...as lnog my epidural works ..i will be happy! Last time they broke my waters for me which I have now learned is a form of induction and could be the reason why my contractions came on so suddenly and strongly - I don't want to sound like a baby but the pain was horrendous and it was like I was almost dying..i really do not want to face that sort of situation again.. dilating until 9 cms with no pain relief and then have a c-section :( I will try to read up some more on this and stay positive!

wow! You've only been looking for 3 weeks and have 3 offers already - that's incredible mashalla! My DH has been looking for over a year and no such luck - despite his 13 years experience in hospitality and F&B in London. Good for you and best of luck! edited by Ayda247 on 15/01/2012 edited by Ayda247 on 15/01/2012

Yes, a BBQ is lovely in this weather and you can have a nice cake made, etc... Do not worry about spending lots of money. You just need a bit of organization and maybe get the kids to make a special hand-made card for their dad and sing happy birthday and you will have a fab time :)

Fiona82, you are lucky to be leaving work a whole 3 weeks before your due-date! :) I am planning on working until one week before D-day because the maternity leave we get is only 45 calendar days..will be adding on my annual leave plus one month unpaid just to spend some decent time with bubs! Hope i can last until march!

Nimonemo replied : I find Dubizzle is taking the pi*** these days asking ridiculous amounts of money for second hand stuff. I found a shop in Deira, next to the gold souk where they sells German prams for AED1000 but they include car seat, moses basket and chair. I dont remember the brand now but I will come back to have a look again. Nimonemo, please do get me the location..I work in Deira and would really like to check out this option. Dang it- I knew something was up when i downloaded an Essential voucher and saw my name on it! Gone are the days when we can print a couple of copies to share with friends over a brunch,etc...bummer :( also i noticed most of the January offers are for spa/salon type services rather than meals/brunches - not impressed as there are countless groupons, etc out there offering the same thing. edited by Ayda247 on 04/01/2012

hi everyone, am in my 30th week now and cant sleep thru the night because of the loo-runs! have almost bought everything for baby except for cot bed mattress and stroller...expecting some things to be shipped in from the UK. Look like an absolute whale and it doesn't help when colleagues chirp 'oohhh, any time now, eh'? and i shoot back 'actually no, i have 2 more months to go!' ARRGGHH otherwise everything okay..had a bout of bleeding last week and went into emergency but all was fine..just stress, i think.. really looking fwd to march and meeting baby! Aren't we lucky we are giving birth at this time of the year when the weather is so much nicer?! :)

Al Nahda Dubai is a great area to live in although it is not a gated community. Our 2 bedroom was 54K when we move din but happily reduced to 46K this year. The master bedroom has an en suite bathroom plus one other bathroom, fitted wardrobes, balcony in the living room and a health center floor with pool and gym plus covered parking. Also, our chiller (AC)is included in the rent so our DEWA bills are quite reasonable. We have Sahara Center just round the corner with loads of supermarkets, laundries, places to eat etc so the fact that its not a 'community' doesn't bother me. Try doing a search on Dubizzle..Mirdif is another area you can consider although they have limited apartments and are mostly villas there.

tell me about it..i rang RAKBANK and asked them why they didn't send their customers any advance notification for these fees and they claimed they had in one of the monthly statements. I had signed up for e-statements but saw no such thing. Hmmpphh..we are now even being charged TO PAY - disgusting! Flydubai is the same by the way..recently booked a ticket and they charged me an extra 12 dhs to pay by credit card. i asked them if i could pay with cash and the answer was yes and that costs 30! Go Figure!

hiya, i just started this monday with Nurse Amanda at Welcare..she does antenatal classes - a session runs for 6 classes @ AED 1500 for the whole session or AED 300 if you are paying per class. In my first class there was a powerpoint prsentation and also fresh juice, finger foods, etc are provided. I enjoyed it although i havent learned anything shocking or new yet..still it was a nice thing to do with the hubby and there was a good fun classroom atmosphere with lots of joking and ribbing. I am registered at welcare for my check-ups and birth so its quite useful for me as we will have a labour ward tour, etc. This is my second baby but i needed some reminding on things so thought classes would be useful.. We have been asked to wear comfortable clothes for our second class as we will be taught some exercising positions and also use the birthing ball, etc...

hi ladies, i am in my 21st week and have been following and enjoying this thread..just wanted to warn my fellow March mamas about my horrible and painful experience yesterday which was my own fault really! I was feeling very tired after coming back from work on Tues evening and decided to have a quick dinner and an early night. Feeling too tired to cook anything i ordered a burger and fruit shake (cockltail) from a nearby restaurant. For some reason,my husband was suspicious from the start and said are you sure they make good burgers, etc..anyway my burger arrived and i gupled it down - it tasted okay..not the best burger i've had of course and went off to sleep at 7.30pm.. I woke up at 10.30pm with very bad stomach cramps..i thought maybe walking up and down would loosen the feeling of tightness in my tummy but suddenly started vomiting! Now keep in mind that this is my 2nd pregnancy and i have never had morning sickness so didnt know how awful vomiting while pregnant felt! I basically vomited out everything in my tummy and then started dry-heaving which was very painful as it made me feel like i couldnt breathe.. At about 2am, DH and i decided to go to welcare emergency because i wasnt getting better. Alhamdulilah they gave me a scan and Peanut was fine and swimming around summersaulting!..What a relief it was to see him/her and i burst into tears! They injected me with an antibiotic and a painkiller and i had to stay on a saline IV drip for the next 9 hours! Lesson to me : Be careful of small cafeterias especially when you're pregnant! I feel so stupid for putting myself at risk this way but will be very careful from now on. Thing is we have a babymoon planned for next week (Holiday in Kerala!) and i am feeling worried about the same thing happening to me there! May God protect us all!
