This is not new. Arrived 1976 aged 20 and it was a regular occurrence particularly if you were blonde. You dealt with it. One clothes shop on the Creek down from the Intercon had a peep hole in the tiny changing room. I saw his eye and poked my car key through! He was not too happy!

I agree but I find it alarming that so many ladies appear to be obsessed with Botox.

If you have put the garden in you are the owner. On two occasions I have ripped out the garden and sold all plants and trees and irrigation system. Your landlord will try to rent the property at a higher rent because it has a landscaped garden.

Ange 74. Here is the link. Under Travel you can get all the information to do everything yourself. I recommend you try and get the dogs booked on a daylight flight as less stressful for them. http://www.britvet.com/

Ange 74 it is very straightforward to do it all yourself and avoid being ripped off by people who are not qualified or do not have a trade license to provide pet shipping services. I will send you a link with the information you need in a day or two.

I am sure all the so called expats ladies will shoot me down but be very careful many people come here and it is not a good place anymore. Qatar might be a better option or even Abu Dhabi.

In my opinion Dubai is a hideous place to work and live, now having being an expat there since 1976 when Dubai was the best kept secret. Look elsewhere in my opinion. Thankfully I no longer live in Dubai.

I seldom comment here having lived in Dubai where most people who post on here have no idea what one had to encounter in the 1970's. We got on with our lives and did not have all the technology and still you complain endlessly about such sad moments in your life. I am fortunate and honoured to have left such a horrible City and live in Oman.

Check they have a trade license as I used to have a pet sitting business with the only company licensed with Dubai Economic Department. Most are unlicensed which is illegal.

Can anyone recommend a nice boutique-type hotel near the airport/Wafi area which has good access to Sharjah. Usually stay at Al Manzil or Qamardeen near Dubai Mall but both full this week. Thanks for any suggestions.

Go to Deepak's in Satwa or any other good material shop and buy the muslin and have individual cloths made by a tailor. Cheaper than buying from the shops too.

If you drive out of the car park main exit from Al Fair, turn left, down to roundabout, go left, go past first group of shops/HSBC Bank on the left then take next left turn and straight ahead you will see the Family Book Shop. To the left there is an alley way. Go up first sets of steps on left, past the elevator and turn right. You will see some "little feet" transfers on the ground which lead to I guess a nursery or something! Mackenzie's is I think is the 2nd entrance on the left. Has a tartan border on the entrance doors. They are open for shopping and take-outs for Ramadan.

You do not have much of a choice here. Al Fair in MQ and Azaiba is where most people shop for meat. There is also a new place called MacKenzie's in MQ near Family Book Store which you could try. You can also order online. http://www.mackenziesdeli.com/ :)

Can someone tell me that if apartment chiller charges are introduced, is it the owner or the tenants responsibility to pay the charges? I tried to search in here but the search engine is extremely poor. Thank you for any advice/comments you may have.

Be careful, we have the equivalent of Spinney's here in Muscat and I had a salad from their salad bar. The first time, I was really ill, second time I noticed hairs in some of the dishes so declined. Yesterday I saw 2 people as they walked past the salad bar put their hands in the food containers and helped themselves before moving on to do their shopping. One came back for a second helping:\:

Thank you ladies. I have now hit another possible complication. The passport holder is Irish but has a permanent South Africa Residency. To renew the passport there takes 3/4 months so we thought we could renew in London, but have been told it has to be done in the country of residence i.e. South Africa. To further complicate matters she does not have a machine readable passport but there is a barcode added inside the passport from one of her other trips that makes it machine adaptable apparently (not sure what that means). This being the case I could register for ESTA for a one week trip to the US hopefully!!! If not, the trip is off as it takes 6 weeks to get a US Visa in London.:\:

Thanks CurlyOB. Another question you might be able to help me with, if the validity on the passport is 5 months do you know if you can travel to the US for about 2 weeks or does it need to be 6 months+? I am reading that Irish passport holders are on the list that it needs to be valid just for the duration of your visit and you just need to make an ESTA registration as no visa required. Any idea on this? Thanks! I will ring the Embassy in the morning but just trying to get the information from someone who may have experience in these areas!

The search engine on this site is really bad and I wanted to ask if anyone has recently renewed an Irish Passport in Abu Dhabi and how long did it take to process?
