Hi. I have a 2 year old son who started school when he was 1.5 yrs. I speak Farsi at home and my husband speaks Arabic with our son. My husband and I switch between Farsi and English amongst ourselves. We have never spoken to our son in English. I had a parent teacher meeting with my sons teacher who was shocked to hear we don't speak English at home as all he ever spoke in school during the second term) was English. And I was equally shocked to find out he can actually SPEAK English as I had never tested him. Children pick up languages so quickly you would be surprised. I would say stick to you native languages as those are the ones that your little one would have trouble learning. Whereas English will become his first language in school soon enough.

Up until recently I also only did dental work in London. Until I had to have an emergency visit and saw Dr. Ali in Dentcare, Healthcare City and was truly pleased with his work. Previous to resorting to UK dental trips, I saw my fair share of dentists and was very unhappy, either their work wasn't satisfying or their bedside manner. I'm very happy with Dr. Ali now. Nicholas & asp are over-priced in my opinion. Good luck!

Hi, Ayesha Depala in The Village Mall are very good. They also do very delicate embroidery so I'm sure they can help, but I'm not sure how much they charge or if it would be worth the making some alterations. Good luck!

Littlelou, thank you so much for your tips! Very helpful! I am doing my masters in psychology. It's qualitative, so it needs a lot of coding and organizing. Thankfully I do have someone to help me with house work and cooking. It's hard to get motivated when you can feed the baby, burp, put her to sleep and get in bed! Haha! Or just sit on the couch and watch tv after a whole 9 months of trying to meet deadlines and submissions! But I am happy to say I HAVE started my recruitment process and I'm hoping to start data collection by the end of this week. So yay! Thank you for your kind words of encouragement, I really appreciate it. I guess every mother tries her best to be a role model for her kids..... So here's to hoping!

Thank you for your response! I appreciate the time and effort you put into it. I have gotten an extension on 2 essays which are due n June/July. However, I do have my dissertation to work on. I have until mid-may to collect my data and so behind already! I started the 2 year masters program when I got pregnant with my first, finished my first year and delivered. Took a year off then I got pregnant again! Haha! Figured I'm not going to be able to finish my last year AFTER I have 2 kids! so i need to finish it before she gets older because I think it's easier to do while she stills spends most of the day sleeping! Granted she has half her naps in my arms... :'( but oh well!

I had the mamas n papas sola, loved/love it! I used it from day 1 for 2 years. The basket underneath is huge and very easily accessible. I hate having to bend in the mall and tackle my push hair t be Abe to get the baby stuff out! It can close in 1 piece or the seat could be removed and stored separately from the chassy. I have just had my second baby and bough the bugaboo donkey, single/double stroller. Love the fact that there's a basket underneath and if you are using it for 1 baby, then there's a storage basket next to the seat as well! And it extends to fit 2 seats for both kids.

I have a 1 month old and have been giving Bonnisan. It seems to be working well. I was actually just told yesterday by a friend who delivered her baby in the States that her doctor said to give the baby 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of rosé water morning, noon, and night. She said she gave it regularly so that it would stop the gas from forming. I'm considering starting this and see how it works!

I dont have the number for sedar unfortunately. And harmony will come and install the curtains. It took them 1 week to make and install curtains for the 2 rooms with the most number of windows.

We moved toa villa recently, and have so many windows in this house, it's unreal! We did our curtains with Harmony in Satwa, further down from the ER entrance of Iranian Hospital. I liked the because they have a lot of variety. And they didnt cost too much, but the fabric quality is good and the finishing was nice n clean! But you gotta haggle! :)

Anyone know if Bonnisan (given to infants for colic) really works? My one month old seems to get upset almost every night around 8pm. Im not nursing, so I don't know how to fix her problem. Any ideas?

Congrats! Wish you all the happiness! I got married in 2009 in Intercontinental Festival City. I hired a wedding planner which was amazing! Moones from Chic Alors! I had my dream wedding thanks to her and her team and will be forever grateful! They charged 30% of the total cost, so it will depend on the kind of wedding you want. We had about 600 men and 700 women (segregated wedding), so planning it myself was not an option. Good luck!

MIL takes very good care of herself, facials once a month, massages, gymming 4 to 5 days a week... Etc. and so for the last 4 years that I have been married, she likes to show her concern by telling me 'I look tired' almost every weekend that we go over! :'( initially I used to say, yeah... Didn't sleep well last night (which was rarely true, but didn't know what else to say!). Ayer a while I switched it to 'no actually I'm very good today!' Hoping that this would make her think twice about asking! Naturally, it didn't work. Then I told her the truth, that my dark circles are genetic as my father and half of my family have them and they will not go away. (No matter how much makeup I would use and how many concealers I changed, she could still see them!) I gave birth a month ago, had a tough time and some baby blues.... A week and a half ago she comes over and as I'm feeding my daughter she says 'you look tired, why?' SERIOUSLY?!???!!! So I said, 'don't you get tired of asking me that? They're GENETIC! They WON'T go away and there's NOTHING I can do about it!' Needless to say, she didn't respond.

I see Dr. Maryam Raoufi, in Arya clinic on Al Wasl road. Had a different doctor at the start of my first pregnancy. She was also very good but not as accessible. And you need someone you can send a message to especially during your first pregnancy as you may have many questions. Had 2 babies delivered by Dr. Raoufi and have friends that have gone to her and love her. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable enough to talks bout anything and ask whatever questions you have. So I hope you find someone you are comfortable with. Good luck!

As far as I know, they are not allowed to be sleeping outside the employers home. As an employer, you provide accommodation and they should be sleeping there, not outside. Also a day off to leave the house is also not part of the contract. Neither is a phone. So from what I can tell, you did more than what you are legally bound to do. But for her to resist your house rules (hair net!) when legally, she should, is where the problem is.

Not sure what bells the dancers use, but you can get small bells from Satwa. Most of the shops that sell ribbons and thread and stitching accessories sell those as well. Good luck!
