DD is 2 and 10 months. She'll have her 9oz bottle of milk and about 30 minutes later toast or cereal. Sometimes I just give her a yogurt and fruit.

Her passport should not be stamped at any of the borders nor will she have to pay for any of the fees. She may have to show her passport but it shouldn't be stamped. Hope that helps. I did quite a few of those visa runs whilst sorting out DD's residency visa. edited by Babyrat on 17/01/2011

Jumeriah Lake Towers has some really nice large two beds all about 2000 sq ft. Actually is 2 bed plus maid. The nicer towers are Al Seef I, II and III and Green Lakes which are all very near to Dubai Marina metro. For upto 160aed you'll get a really really nice 2 bed.

If they cancel her visa she will get release papers. You take the release paper and her passport to sort the whole process. You will have 30 days from the date that her passport is cancelled to do your side of paperwork. You cannot start the process without release papers. It is quite a simple process if you know how. Better still get your DH's PRO to sort it out for you.

Make sure that no one stamps her passport. She will have to hand her passport over at the border. Mine was stamped by mistake and you can imagine it took me about two hours hanging around to get it rectified.

Are they shooting some movie or commercial or something else on the Palm? There was a film crew by the Shoreline 7 and 8 at 3:30pm today and one night also they were filming traffic on the main road. I drove past at 6pm and there was a police car there blocking the road. How inconsiderate - no information.

We are also in the same position. Landlord is nice so we don't mind. He calls and asks if it is ok and we say either yes or no. Lucky for us the second set of people who came to view took the place.

You are being more than generous, Average wage for a Filipino is 1500 with a flight home every one or two years but thats up to you. If she thinks she can find better than I suggest you let her go and find someone as I'm not sure many families would allow boyfriends to stay over. I certainly don't. If your helper gets pregnant and it has and does happen and I speak from experience and they are not married well you know the rest.

I viewed British Orchard but not Little Wings. My only advice to you is to go with your gut feeling. All nurseries have their good and bad points. Have you looked at Rising Star or Blossom they are not that far from British Orchard? Sorry I can't be of more help.

In China Town London normally where there are dishes with birds nest its normally decoration ie., food placed in fried noodles that resembles a birds nest. Right! But there are people who eat the real birds' nests and not the fried yam bowls that look like birds' nests. and my point is double check facts before telling people to boycott the restaurant.

I've had that too. It's weird cause I don't even have a Nokia phone! My nanny was foolish enough to ring someone in the States cause she had an email saying that she had won 10,000USD and to ring this number blah blah blah.

Obviously you can get real shark fin soup but it would be very very expensive. Crispy seaweed from Chinese Takeaways isn't actually seaweed its fried cabbage and bombay duck from an Indian isn't actually duck at all its fish I believe. In China Town London normally where there are dishes with birds nest its normally decoration ie., food placed in fried noodles that resembles a birds nest.

Just reread your post most of the nurseries I know speak mainly English. If you get Timeout Mag for Kids towards the back there is list of nurseries. I would say that Jebel Ali Nursery which there are a few of them have different drop off and pick up times. There is one is JBR.

I switched to low fat milk when DD was 2. Read some article about effects of giving full fat milk not good for DD in later in life. Paediatrician said 2 was the right age to change as she would get fats from other sources of her diet. It is very much a personal choice. Both my sister's and brother's kids all have full fat milk and they are a few or more years older than my DD.

Not sure if you are aware but it is not legal to borrow other people's maid. As CP has already suggested your best bet would be to ring around the agencies.

When you sponsor maid as Clairedph has already said you both sign the Contract and the terms and conditions are already set out therein. It's best to do what suits you really as the end of the day she is under your sponsorship. You employ her to help you. Personally I think everyone who works in Dubai does a 12 hour day!

Have to say I agree with JoyceB. 50/50 or nothing. Alternatively, you could assuming when the MIL goes and your little one is still small, sell it all and split the proceeds between the two girls and say hey Nanny left you all this money!

You might be better off putting this on the classified section. I suggest you should also change your title to looking for a full time maid as a nanny would really only looking after the baby and not doing all the general household chores.

When DD was small and had a stuffy nose, I would run a very hot shower and would sit in the bathroom with her. That sometimes help.

Get rid of her. Marching orders. You will only get your deposit back if either she gets another sponsor or she leaves the country. Cancel her visa and do not give her the opportunity to do this to anyone else. My first nanny who we spent an awful lot of money on due to the complication of her visa ended up pregnant by a man who wasn't her husband and we had to pay to send her back home and she had only been with us 6 months.

Seriously a man writes abook about pain free child birth and women believe him? Scince when was child birth meant to be pain free for all women? Do women out there truely believe they can read a book and by some form of magic not feel any pain when delivering?? I am stunned. OP, wanted hope as she from what I gather from her post will be on her own. Its mind over matter.

Believe it or not the whole of The Palm is child friendly. Bidi Bondi is nice for a coffee and very child friendly insofar as they give the kids colouring book and crayons.

Hi Babyrat, I know no delivery is whitout pain I had my first one in July 2009 and it lasted 20 hours... But I just wanted to reassure myself by reading this book I'ts not a bad idea I think That's all I can have Lots of other women for their deliveries have the great chance to have their mothers, or mother in law, near them at the time of the delivery Me no Sorry I didn't mean to offend you. I feel for you. I went 12 hours through it before they decided to give me a C-Section. i have a friend who recent did Hypnobirthing and she said it wasn't bad. I have an Armax Ship and Shop account if you want to use it.

I work in a small office and we are all on Etisalat with our Blackberry. Have had no problem with them for the last three years. To be honest I think they are all much of the same. I'm not really getting your problem either. Assuming you are with Etisalat they have a designated Blackberry place in Dubai Mall near Waitrose. I'm sure one of the guys there could help you out.

Someone I know was told recently by the Philippine Consulate (or Embassy, not sure which) that it was now legal for maids to have a "part-time" sponsorship, whereby they would be under contract to work a certain number of fixed hours for their sponsor and then, if their sponsor agreed, be allowed to work elsewhere, part-time, under their own sponsorship. Not exactly sure that would work. Does that mean instead of us forking out about 8k for their visa we only have to pay half cause they will come up with the other half if they take on part time work?

The same thing crossed my mind as Clairehdp has already mentioned. If he is serious about you why is he not popping the question? How long will he be posted there for? Bearing in mind you guys are serious about each other how about he moves first and you may be six months later? A colleague of mine was apart from his gf for a year until they got married and she moved over to Dubai to be with him. They used to fly backwards and forwards every few weeks. Like you guys both had good jobs. He said that she didn't want to leave everything behind in the UK until she knew he was 100% going to stay in Dubai. Absence makes the heart grow fonder they say.

The best nanny I found for my DD was on the Classified Section. She was a Filipino who back home was a qualified nursery nurse and she came with very good references. Her sole responsibility was looking after DD no household duties were included at all. The only room she cleaned was DD's nursery. Nanny was live out and came to me 5 days a week. We sponsored her and paid for her accommodation and transportation to and from work. For me experience counts as much as qualifications if not more but then that is my own personal opinion.

I second Sudocreme as well. When DD was young she had bad bad rash I put three or four of those bed mats on the floor and left her there with her nappy off so that air could get to it. Also I didn't use any wipes just water and cotton wool to clean.
