And my reply; Just so you know, I dont appreciate your email at all.. we are areally upset ... also for your info too.. pleaase see this link.. I am not sure what your lawyer have told you, but seriously , the law is clear.. read artcile 25 clause 2.. like you said who wants to go to court??? we dont, but we are also aware of our rights.. you made it in your first email that we are idiots and didnot read... when we infact read, asked, and consulted.... http://thedubailaw.com/uaelaws/2010/12/dubai-law-no-33-of-2008-amending-some-provisions-of-law-no-26-of-2007-regulating-relationship-between-landlords-tenants-in-the-emirate-of-dubai/

and another email; I believe I may have been misunderstood on the meaning of the lines below. It is by no means my intention to even walk the steps of Dubai Courts to pick up the paperwork and of course it is not our intention to evacuate your family! I was only giving you the legal framework behind it because I really feel you need to be aware of it and thats all. I dont have time or mood to go into such territories, rest assured! Neither to you guys that I respect and like very much, nor anybody else! If i have to have to buy the house and have a pregnant wife in a hotel apartment then so be it! I repeat what i told you when we first met that I would never evict a family! We hope we are creating all the conditions for you to be happy to leave on your own accord. That is our intention and nothing more. Fact is that owner wants to sell the house, I want to buy that house and we are going to do everything in our power to make your transition as smooth and relaxed as possible. As i said, lets try to catch up. I would prefer face to face as emails seem to be turning counter-productive I am afraid. You know my number, please give me a call to arrange to meet whenever you feel like it. Hope you had a great vacation!

I think you are going to have problems with these people from now on and you are going to come out the loser in the end with all the emotional badgering they going to do. Let them have the place but take them up on the offer to move you at no cost to you and get out. You will only fight this again next year and they may not be willing to let you move on their dime. by next year we will be back home in the States... so we wouldnto have this situation..

Right then, I went through this recently and spent a great deal of time talking to RERA and the agent and the LL. So, here goes. If the LL wishes to sell the property he must first offer the sale of the property to you first. Then should you decline he can then advertise and sell the property. However, the LL has to give you 12 months written notoce by public notary should he wish to sell. If he does this and you have signed another contract then the new LL must keep you on as a sitting tennant. If he wishes to evict you, again he has to give you 2 months notice BUT this only counts if he needs to repair any structural damage to the property. IF he wants to move in himself or sell the proprty he has to give you 12 months written notice. Basically, he can not do what he is doing now. I would suggest that you ask him to seek advise from RERA and come back to you with another plan. I just received this email from him; Take your time, of course we are amenable to your schedule and I know you have lots of decisions to make this coming month. I have been in your shoes and i fully sympathize. I will ask realtor to hold until after mid May for viewings. I am not sure I understand what decision you need to make by mid May and nobody asked you to vacate before mid Aug. I agreed to give you plenty of time to make a decision on what to do with your future plans etc. but a decision to renew the contract beyond the 17th of Aug for another year or two would lie only with owner, not us, and its not on the table any longer since we have agreed with owner to transfer the villa to us effective as of end of May or as soon as the paperwork is done. And as you know we need the villa for own use, we are not malicious. Both owner and ourselves had to make a binding commitment - that includes both of us signing a contractually binding Sale Purchase Agreement and me assigning a cheque of $$$ AED to the property! Plus we are coming to terms with owner undertaking all the Landscaping, Interior Design and Refurbishment of the property after Aug. owner had another offer on the table and I had to go to London for two weeks. I am afraid your 17th May deadline was not possible for us to wait that long for all these reasons. I asked to meet with you before we put our signatures, just out of courtesy to you to tell you the news face to face, but you were about to go to Thailand. In any case, nothing has changed regarding our commitment to you from myself and owner and that is to make this transition in Aug as smooth as possible. I have arranged with the Agent to sort out all your agency costs for the new villa at no cost to either party and we have met your request. Emirates Homes tell me there are very nice alternatives for you in Green Community and realtor would be happy to accommodate. I hear also owner is kind enough to help you with your moving using his trucks which is very noble. There is a point which I would like to clarify, with all due respect, and by no means without insinuating anything. But you need to know what is your leverage here as Tenants and there shouldnt be any misintepretation here so that all is fair. As you understand as a Buyer and Owner I have looked into my rights and obligations for a property in Dubai as per the local law with my lawyers. I must amend my will since the Sharia'a law is restrictive. I also asked them about the rights of tenants upon disputes. They reverted to me with the attached feedback. There is a 12 month notice period for the owner to evict tenants BUT there are exclusions that are applicable immediatelly upon the expiration of the tenancy agreement. One such is Clause 1b which also applies but I think the stronger exclusion is the one at Clause 1c, the Owner is excluded from the 12 month notice if he doesnt have an alternative housing to live and this is our case (A's and mine) I am afraid. We are not local owners or regional investors, we are like you western expatriates paying rent to a hotel apartment every month and will continue to do so until we move to 895 Lily Lane on the 18th of Aug. We are planning to have a baby and I would hate for my wife to deliver in a hotel!! If we end up, which i am sure we wont, at Dubai Courts fighting an eviction with you then Dubai Courts will not acknowledge your motion in case you wish to disregard an eviction note after the 18th of Aug. Let alone the monetary and emotional fuss; it is just not worth it. Especially when we are most amenable to make your move as stress-free as possible and without any monetary cost to you as you requested. Emirates Homes never told me that you are considering extending your stay after they asked you for a vacating latter. They just told me - that you are happy to vacate upon expiration but the only thing you needed before you furnish us with a vacating letter is a confirmation that Emirates Homes will pick up the costs of finding you an equally nice property to rent. Which is exactly what they have promised. After all the - necessary I hasten to add - clarifications above, I go back and say, we are all friends here so lets try to meet up for dinner soon and plan everything out... :) Best regards <em>edited by Babysoosoo on 18/04/2012</em>

If you mean May as in next month, I would let them move me and pay the realtor. In a months time you would have to move anyway and pay those costs yourself. That is of course if I am reading this correctly. No my contract end in August and I have 3 month (May) to say if I want to leave or stay... but its only our first year in the house (well not even yet). but the prespective buyer is annoying us with the amout of emails texts etc... I mean he is eeven finding us a relator to work with... we got the house for good price so anything else wll coast more..

DEWA bill includes water, electric (including whatever is consumed for A/C usage), sewerage, and housing fee. Other than TV/internet, maintenance etc. there is no other company billing you for services. Thank you so much for replying, you are the best :)... do you mind me asking how much is your Dewa bill.. our Emicool is around 1500- 2500 and our Dewa is another 1000...

From what I understood from you guys, the JW is far from the city.. how far is that? we intend to rent a car.. also, are there any shops in the area or we have to go to downtown for that. Thanks

http://www.siamcenter.co.th/main.php for funky, quirky, interesting clothing stores. It is next to the huge Siam Paragon. Check out the department store located in the Siam Paragon, the make-up counters alone will blow you away. Anything on offer in Dubai makeup and perfume wise pales significantly in comparison. The foodcourt next to the huge deli/gourmet store in the Paragon is a nice experience with amazing food choices - I love the counter selling teeny rolled up crepes with all sorts of fillings resembling works of art. Be sure to pop into the gourmet shop as well, oh boy you will realise how paltry choices are in Dubai. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Chatachuk weekend market. Be sure to check out a few websites and maps before you go and locate the section with 100+ little shops owned by young and upcoming Thai designers. They sell the most amazing cutting edge and vintage inspired clothes for a next to nothing. The handbags, jewels and other accessories are equally fab. You will find a few totally cool toy and decor shops here too and won't believe the prices. Here you would be able to stock up on super duper gifts for the next year's birthday parties the kids will attend. In this section I picked up amazing clothes destined for the Swedish market, excellent quality as well, and I am full of nonsence and won't even set foot in the average trashy highstreet stores such as forever21, newlook, topshop and the likes of these. You can also pick up amazing leather belts, bags and items that is difficult to find such as thenmost amazing clothing mannequins etc from Chatachuk. Woooo you must just do you research and know where to go to prevent wasting time in the average ;-) sections. The market is MASSIVE. Enjoy your trip. This is the city to pick up something for the more individual, independant, modern dresser with a well developed personal sense of style at a steal of what you would pay elsewhere. Dubai only caters for the super commerial dresser, few seasons out of style too. I love the individuality and street culture to be observed in Bangkok, it is refreshing. People are well dressed, groomed and even though they might wear the teeniest shorts and flash boob it is noticible that shoulders are always covered in Bangkok. They also wear great, high quality shoes. Crepes and co for nice brunch - there are two different ones, see their website or Fb page. hey, also do they sell brand name make up for cheaper price, or will this be fake stuff too?

if you want a great thai place to eat go to cabbages and condoms...the food is great there http://www.cabbagesandcondoms.com/index.php in Phuket make sure you go to the Dino Bar one evening it is in Kata. Every evening about 7 to 7.30 they bring two elephants there and your children can buy a bag of bananas from the guy who looks after them and feed them. There is also crazy golf at the Dino bar too. I am so jealous i have to wait a few more weeks before i can go hahha, is this condom place ok to take the kids (haha)

I would definitely go for the JW Marriott - gorgeous hotel, great food (best hotel breakfast I've ever had and we've travelled a bit), great size rooms - you can get a regular room and have your kids sleep on the double daybed in the corner if they are little ones. The kids club is excellent with a circus school for older kids. Scenery gorgeous. Couple of drawbacks: it's a bit isolated from a sightseeing point of view - it takes a good 40 mins to get to Phuket Town/Patong and the sea is too rough for swimming in (though there are at least 3 swimming pools). We've been twice and considered going back again last month but opted for Malaysia instead. I don't recommend Le Meridien, Phuket - it was a horrible hotel in comparison, though the beach was nice. Hi , thank you for replying.. I need to ask u, we have 3 kids, is th ekids club good? also is it worth it to go to the downton area on everyday basis, or is it a one/ two times trip tp down town?.. <em>edited by amalwaleed on 08/03/2012</em>

If it's D3 that you use Solgar brand is quite easily available, but I think 5000 IU is the largest we have been able to get here in pill form. You should hear the excuses used by pharmacies here when you ask for K2. Yes D3.. I would like to 50,0000 if I can, if I cant then I will go to the 5K one...thank u for responding..

Try the health and Organic shop in Ibn Batutta near Geant and Starbucks. They have a whole range of Vitamins. I I also take Vit D tablets. The last time I got some was from Grand United Pharmacy (cant remember where they are) and there telephone number is 04-3398125. I would never take pills without a proper container that is sealed. I am sure it wont be drugs but it can be placebo's , how would u ever be sure so good for you. Even though we trust everyone in dubai very easily, there is still chancers....I have to remind myself of this every now and then. :-) Perfect!! do you know if they ask for perscription? I only have my blood report from the US.

Welcome to Dubai :-) It is probabbly harmless but I think I would have left without the pills as well. After living here a while you will realize that this kind of discussions are useless. Getting upset about it just wastes your time and energy. On a sidenoteand living in Dubai with all its sunshine: you should go out and spend at least 10 minutes a day outside in the sun and forget about the pills... Debbie, I really need your number :) reading yr post made me feel better.. it was just a waste of my time yah, u r right!! and YES energy too.. I was upset when I came home, look how many bad cells I have produced in my body b/c of that.. its frustrating though.. anyway, as for th esunshine, appreantly b/c of the sunshine int he gulf, people tend (me too) to put a lot of sunscreen on which makes then vitamin D difficient.. my level is 12 while my doctor would like to see them at 75!!

I need help finding a full time nanny for my 11m old son. I need to do this through an agency as i don't have time to sort out a visa for her. Can someone PLEASE help me with this. I need it sorting very quickly as i am starting work sunday! I agree with your sentiments Pinkleton but please understand that the OP's original post could be read in different contexts depending on one's feelings; such is the written word and why it can be misconstrued. However, she had kindly explained further her purpose for her post and therefore is understood. Similarly, please don't misconstrue peoples responses to the original enquiry. Again the written word can be interpreted in different ways. No offence I'm going to go ahead and bite my tongue like other responders failed to do. Have a good night all. I agree with you, b/c it happened to me before, people can be inconsiderate... she was asking for advise on where to find a nanny not an opionion from all of us on what we think of her if she left her kid with one... here is my 2 cents, if u feel that "maybe" you should bite you tongue, go ahead and do it, b/c u really should... This lady made a decssion based on how people "may" view her if she left her kid with a nanny, she is vulnerable as it is, and some people thought it was ok to make her feel worst.

Flip your thoughts from misery to happy... your kids will grow up tolearn from their dad, to love their parents (you), to respect them (you), to be there for them when they need them (you), to be around not just disappear when they hit 18 (you again).... your husband is a good man.. he loves his family.. and your point is he loves his family and he loves you.. so let it, let him share the love with everyone.. just start being accepting, b/c like he said and any other arab man would tell u.. u dont like it, u leave... thats how it works...

I'm kinda surprised by all the people saying ignore it/don't return it. Whether it is a pittance to your employer or not, it was paid in error and is not your money. If you have legitimate outstanding expenses then by all means claim them. But keeping money that is not yours because you feel it is a drop in the bucket to him doesn't sit right with me. It might be a small sum but it is HIS money. If you felt you weren't paid fairly or due a bonus etc the time to address that would have been when you were employed - not by keeping this amount. Your are 100% right!!, I was surprised too that people said , ignore emails and dont worry about it.. if this happens to me and they made a mistake, I'll return their money.. no one like to give money that is already in your bank account, but then again, it doesnt belong to you.. I would return it, its not worth it.. I always say, you always need people u work with, no matter what, so dont burn bridges with them, it really is not worth it..

I had a peel done about 3 months ago and am very happy with it. I had very very dark pigmentation on my face - it looked like someone had dipped a paintbrush in brown pain and painted splotches on my forehead and I had dark freckles on my face. I had an initial peel and then they gave me cream to apply each night for the next 8-10 weeks. It has faded by about 80%. I was forewarned that mine could not be removed completely as it was very deep. The sun is our worst enemy. Once you've had it done you cannot, cannot, cannot have any exposure. Sun screen and a hat at all times when you're outdoors. It cost me under 3000DHS all up. I went to Dr Rana at Cosmesurge in Jumeirah. Thank you so much for your feedback.. the price is great, I already paid over $700 in creams and all, and also I went to Dr consultation in the US and myinsuarance paid too... I would love to do it, I have 2 spots that needs to be treated.. big spoltches under my eyes (more like the cheek bone).. u can never ever be under the sun for LIFE?? or only after the treatment? and how red were you after the treatment? also, do u have the Dr. phone number? and last but not least, do u know the name of the peel they did so I can research it? Thanks so much! <em>edited by amalwaleed on 09/10/2011</em>

oh my... Identifying by salary.. Surely there are other appropriate ways to identify someone. Like what the children may have been wearing, the type of stroller they were using, the clothes the maid may have been wearing. These are things that make a maid and child a little more identifiable. Not that she makes 3000k per month. @ Bornconfused, I got this information from my maid, which I thought may help someone identify who this maid was. 3000AED in my opinion is not as common of a salary, and apparently this maid had told my maid she was earning 3000AED a month, and gets 2 days off a week, so loves her job because its so easy, I am just passing on the information I had been given, not insinuating this is a way to identify a person. @ Devil, as I mentioned, I found the two incidents to be unacceptable, if my maid was feeding my daughter yogurt with a spoon she's been licking, I would want to know, and I would also like to know if my maid was pinching my son hence why I posted. Again, I do wonder why I bother, there's 200+ views and most of the comments are negative in response, so I guess I'm alone in wanting to know this kind of information, won't bother next time. You know what, THANK YOU FOR POSTING, I cant believe that some people can be sooo insenstive, instead of thinking, this lady took out of her time to post a message to warn some moms out there, they start criticizing.. well never mind them.. Its sooo nice of you to warn these moms... althought I dontlive there, but boy if I find out this was happening to my kid, God have mercy on my maid... such a horrible thing.. again, thank you for posting and warning..

Ok so this maybe a dumb question.. but when we were first looking for opportunities in the Middle east, my husband spoke with a friend in Qatar and he told him , if my husband and i worked, the rule in Qatar is that he will be the one who would get the benefits (i.e. pay for school, housing allowance, tickets etc) and I will not, even though I will also work (for a diffrent company) but apprently the rule only applies to men. Does the rule also applies in dubai?? if I get hired here, I wont get benefits? b/c my husband works here.. My other question, WHY THE HECk is there so much discrimination in here... in the US, you will be sued if you put an Ad that says (have to be female, 25-42 yrs old, Western education etc.), next I will see an Ad that says, if you are not good looking then dont bother applying.. What the heck???? I think it because most women move here for their husbands job, and then get a job when here meaning we are classed as Local Hire. Most Local Hire packages tend not to include any benefits other than the basics. Thats how it works for us anyway, DH gets all the allowances and I just get my base salary. I was also shocked, when job hunting, at how adverts are worded. I also found it very strange that you are meant to include a photo on your CV!!! Yah, pics on the CV is crazy.. next time they ask me for a pic, I am going to send them a pic of someone else in a bikini... lets see how many interviews I get...

You will see those ads here asking or good looking applicants only, I remember seeing one once for a personal assistant who had to be "very attractive young female" eeewwwwww... can you image the boss you'd be working for? I bet he had a particular dress code in mind too. i have seen worse - including that she must be flexible and willing to please her boss!!!! WHAT??? OMG... Why dont they spell it out and get it over with??? We would like to hire an attractive H---ker!! I wonder if they pay her benefit?? if this is true, then What the heck is happening here??? Oh, and I wonder whatthey mean by flexible??(Yoga flexible or hour flexible???

but how do you define someone's social status etc - lots of us on here would have worked as cashiers in supermarkets/in bars etc going through college (I did) - what if the lady you make friends with in the coffee shop is a cashier on her day off :D BM, you have to admit being a cashier in UAE is totally different than any other place ;) over her they will be working in their day off as well ;) OMG, this is wrong, a cashier is a cashier whether in the Middle east or the USA... I worked as a cashier IN MY DAY OFF in the UK.. How is that diffrenet from the cashiers here????..

Moral of the story this is annoying.. here is the advice of the lifetime.. I am actually going to give you 3 advises b/c I am generous; Scenario 1- electrolyte the bell.. he dings the ding dong, he gets electrolyzed, will get the shock of his life , you will never see him again (of course since he is so determined, it might take few shocks before he gets it) Scenario 2 - Magically tie the bell with a large bucket of water.. he dings the ding dong, the icy cold water (put some ice cube) falls on his head, he will be upset that you ruined his clothes , he will never ring the bell again . (of course, he might think that it’s a great place to get a shower everyday before work so this scenario has its drawback) Scenario 3- I really can’t think of a good scenario that could possibly beat my other 2, so if anyone has a better scenario please come forward. One day , I am going to be charging for solving women problems.. this one is on the house... Amal <em>edited by amalwaleed on 05/09/2011</em>

Ladies! I'm in a situation where it would be amazing if my maid could drive. It's not an urgent one though so I've been seriously thinking about helping my maid obtain her driver's license. Have any of you done this? She doesn't have a licence from the Philippeans though so it would be from scratch here. What do you know? Any thoughts?? TIA! oh, I have done that in the States and regreted it... here is why... she was a nanny more than a maid and one day she went to pick up the kids from school.. she hit another car and ran.. she told us it was a small scratch that she couldnt even see with her bare eyes so she left.. the next day we learn that she dented the PRINCIPLE car and that the accident was caught on cameras.... that was the last time she ever drove the car.. not b/c she had the accident but b/c she lied... we ended paying alot of moeny to get the other can fixed not to mention that our insurance premium had shot up to the sky... personally with the way people drive here, I would NEVER EVER a freshly learned driver to drive here.. thats a BIg risk you are taking.. but thats just me..
