Having had 2 sons as bed wetters I truly believe it is genetic. Looking back I was and my older cousin was till late teens. Both DS grew out of it but not till nearly 10 yrs of age. 1 of the worst things ,DH kept reminding that they couldn't wet otherwise they would be in trouble. scare tactics ! They of course felt bad and couldn't have sleep overs. Just love them anyway and NEVER make them feel guilty about it

IBCC is the way to go. They only need 3 c's to be able to enter. Call all the schools that now have this and you will be surprised where it can lead. As we all know not many 16 yr olds know what they want to do, so this an help and it fills in 2 more yrs

Don't bother with Yas water world for that age group. We had a good time but DS's are in their 20's and teenager. Not great for LO. Just stay at Jumeirah Beach as not sure if they still have deal with free tickets to Wild Wadi

I have been using Housekeeping .com The same lady has turned up each time for over a year now, except when she was in hospital. We have 2 dogs, which she loves and does little things like tidy my DS's wardrobes which are disgusting as both are teenagers.

Skyclinic at Burjuman is wonderful . I visited numerous dentists for DS and they were the most informative, friendly and all for the same cost. We both just felt they were the one for us after we had the initial consultation . Sometimes you go with your gut feeling. At 1 st thought they would be way too expensive for us but with a free consultation and then told the amount, which is the going rate of 16000dhs for top and bottom. Of course they have a payment plan over the 18 months. Also look at London Clinic with a German lady as a friend has taken her DD's there and same price and excellent as well. Remember everyone sees your smile 1st so don't compromise as your children will definitely love you for it later in life

have just been thru all this for DS. go to Dubai skyclinic at Burjuman office tower. They also give a free consultation. 1st. was told get them for him , now finally been informed no good for what he needs to fix a overbite. Thought about him taking them in and out ,which you have to to eat. Well he is always eating ! Then putting them back on, wouldn't that trap all the food and cause more decay? Was quoted about 14k for top and bottom , which was supposed to be a discount amount. DS is getting ceramic braces now for 18k which seems to be the going price or 16k for regular. Definitely go to at least 3 places and ask questions. You will know when you are happy with the dentist. The other place is London clinic or Dr Michaels

1st SES is UK curriculum and Uptown is IB. Where do you live? Going to SES from Mirdif takes about 10 min on the 311 but coming home up at least 40 min via the 611. ECA are great at both schools. I feel you need to decide which study path you want them to go with

We lived there for 4 yrs till feb this year ( DH company moved everyone into their compound). DH has rejoined the club and DS goes to the IB school there, I still shop at a small Spinneys, We LOVED it there, hated leaving. Security knows everyone , the roads and paths are always swept and kept clean. Maintenance is fantastic ! A real community. Maids have a little gathering every afternoon with LO at the playground. Getting in and out is sooo easy and quick compared to other places in Dubai. Yes it is more expensive than other places but the old saying ...You only get what you pay for applies here. If you get there ...STAY ! edited by basil on 28/06/2013

I have just booked tickets for 2 plays in London for this July. Found best price was actually on the website for that particular play. Spent a whole morning comparing all websites and this was he best. Unless you don't care which 1 just a play then wait till closer to time, but I knew which ones and days so booked. Also look up a website that will tell you best seats and why! New play The Book of Mormon is sold out for the next month edited by basil on 05/06/2013

DS needs braces and our dentist has recommended these. They are like a thinner mouth guard. Price is around 15000 for both top and bottom and will take around 6 months. Has anyone had this done for their children and is the price OK?

As Iam from the OZ and the beaches we are continually informed how dangerous the ocean is and taught where and where to swim . Unfortunately accidents will happen until even the lifeguards here are trained to a better standard and signs are erected in various languages.

being a Friday Brunch person , I don't think I would recommend Al Qasar or Mina A Salam. Too big too many people and food just so so! Haven't been to Traiteur as its over my budget but they do say it's FAB! Went to Wheelers is is great and has a voucher in this week Time Out. Top of JBH at La Parrilla is fantastic especially for overseas visitors. There is voucher online for entertainer books.

DS bought a Blackberry from them. After 1 week had problems but they fixed it, still had problems eventually they replaced it. They were very honest but it was a cheap version and hence wasn't great. It did last over a year so the old saying You only get what you pay for, stays true!

I have an adult son who went thru the Queensland school system, where he had to start grade 1 when he was 5. He had just turned 5 in Dec so was one of the youngest in the class. He finished grade 12 at age 16! He suffered both academically and sporting the full 12 yrs at school. I have very strong views on children who are the youngest in the class. Don't push our child to start school early. Even if they are smart they are not socially ready. There are numerous parts of a child's growth. There is a book I read [ sorry ant remember the name'> about children who have late birthdays don't get the same opportunities as children born earlier in the year!
