Ok, I debated if I should reply to this thread or not, as I don't want to turn this into a "doctor bashing" reply but in the end, I just don't want any other parent or child to go through what we had to. My son was 3 weeks old when the Dr circumcised him. I don't know if you have met him already, but if I had the chance to meet him before the procedure, I would have certainly changed my mind and left. During the actual procedure he yelled at my husband because he apparently came within a 5 feet off the hospital bed where my baby was strapped in and crossed the "sterile zone". We were not aware of this invisible thresh hold and were honestly just attempting to comfort our screaming new born. He used the old fashioned razor method which was quite traumatic (and ******) for my son. My older son was circumcised in the States using the plastibell (razor and blood free!) method and I just assumed it would be the same this time. I take responsibility for not asking the doctor before hand, but I advise you to find a doctor who uses the plastibell method instead. At the "check up" one hour later, he gave a brief look at the penis, and answered a phone call in the middle of our conversation. At which point he waved a good bye to us....in other words, kicked us out before we could ask any follow-up questions! And the worst part of all, at our 2 month check-up, our regular pediatrician let us know that the circumcision was in fact done incorrectly. The foreskin was not cut symmetrically and a lot of excess skin was left. In other words, his penis barely looks as if it was circumcised. Our doctor recommended we get it surgically corrected when he is older and can be placed under general anesthesia. Ugh...just thinking about how rude he was gets me so upset and sad for my little baby. Thank you for sharing your experience. Very helpful. We did meet him and had the same impression as you. Not very pleasant and the answers to our questions were in a joking way. Didn't earn our trust. We have changed our mind. Thank you again.

Is anyone getting Braxton Hicks Contractions? I think I am...very strange feeling and tummy feels like a stone! See you Thursday, and Friday! ;) xx Ruby x I am having them also. It was freaking me out on Friday cause they were quite often, but it's very common to get them at this stage. OMG days are going by fast a few more blinks and our babies are here :-) edited by bbarmani on 14/10/2014

Went to Prenatal Yoga today at Zen Yoga and have to say, found it very therapeutic. Was a nice way to relax, stretch and feel wholesome! Instructor was Andrea and she was lovely, recommend trying her class. x Hoping to finalise changing table this week with trips to Ikea and Babies R Us. Getting panicky now that the furniture is not all here yet. :( Is anyone else starting to get a bit low/anxious/stressy? I've read its the hormonal changes to third trimester... Look forward to catching up with you guys on Thursday. x Andrea is my favorite Prenatal Yoga instructor so far. She's lovely.

Bbarmani - Yeah, I'm on my second package now, best to do it that way. :) I can join you on Tues @ 1pm. If you have time afterwards we could have a coffee, as we won't really have the chance to chat during class... It's great that you want to be more active - so do I! :) Ruby & any other ladies - Hi! Would you like to join us @ 1pm Tues? yeah sure :-)

I bought a package at Zen Yoga. It's more economical than buying one class at a time. I registered for prenatal yoga tom Monday at 12:30 Emirates Hills, which is more like Springs area. It's pretty convenient to me cause I usually go to the Spinneys in the same shopping center. If anyone is free during the day and would like to join as well. The instructor last week was nice and sweet. I'm planning to go to Prenatal Pilates in Media City on Tuesday 1pm (my first time) and Prenatal Yoga on Wed 6:30 so I can meet wt the other 2-3 mums that are going :-) I need to get more active so I can feel more energized; otherwise I get sleepy and lazy :-(

I had trouble finding the location for the Pilates class today. I was so frustrated. I left the house 40 mins before just to drive around. I used the GPS; however, it took me to another building. I had to call zen yoga and they guided me through, but at the time I found it, was too late for the class. Now I know exactly where the location is so I will successfully make it next time. I'm planning to attend the Tuesday Pilates at 1pm if anyone is free during the week and would also like to join. I'll also go to the Saturday class if the rest of you are going next Saturday. I Hope you all enjoyed it today.

Hello there lovely mums to be, I am planning to join prenatal yoga now. thinking of zen yoga.. is it really good and are any of you already going there? Would love to have some company ... I've only been to one class at Zen Yoga Emirates Hills (Springs town center) It was nice.I'm planning to go every week. I read here a few other ladies go to the one in Media City at 6pm. They also have Prenatal Pilates which some of us are planning to join on Saturday. I personally rather to book my classes and meet ups during the day as I'm free and more Flexible.

Samantha - It was so lovely to meet you! You're such a chatty, bubbly lady - can't imagine you being nervous when meeting new people ;) :) Looking forward to the Thurs BB coffee morn! Bbarmani - Myself & 2 other ladies from EW go to Zen Yoga in Media City. Typically we go on Tues evening (6:30pm) for prenatal yoga.. Very relaxing and energizing. On Saturday (12:15pm) we go to prenatal Pilates, which has more of a cardio focus. It's quite challenging, but fun! It is a very popular studio, so you have to book your spot in advance. :) This Sat we plan to meet for breakfast at 9:30, then go to Pilates afterwards. Let me know if you (or anyone else) want to join us. Are you able to make it to the coffee morning on Thurs? As I can give you the details then :) Unfortunately, I didn't make it to the coffee this morning. I just booked for the Saturday Pilates :-) Hopefully, I can meet some of you there then.

Hi Samplusbump! Congrats!! I'm 23 weeks - so not quite as far along as you. I'm also not working, and I've been to 3 coffee mornings so far. They are great for socializing as the ladies are all so lovely and friendly. On Monday I am going to Bumps & Babes @ Dubai Mall, and Thursday B&B @ Marina Mall. I also do prenatal yoga and Pilates, which I thoroughly enjoy! Would be happy to meet up with you at either (or both) of those coffee mornings and I can give you info about the yoga/Pilates classes. :) Where do you do the prenatal yoga and pilates ?

Hi Ladies, I hope everyone is well and enjoying their bumps! On the home stretch now ....... :) I have been living in Dubai for 3 years with my husband and have moved from JLT to Arabian Ranches in preparation for our new arrival. We don't have any friends expecting babies so I would love to meet some mums to be.... I am 29 weeks pregnant and due December 6th with our first baby, we wanted a surprise so we don't know the *** and are buying all things white and cute. I have chosen City Hospital and have been really pleased with Dr Britt and the facilities, including the maternity tour that they offer. I have also been attending antenatal classes at Health Bay Polyclinic with Dru (last class next week) and have found them to be fantastic and well worth it. Both myself and my husband would highly recommend this course. I would really like to try prenatal yoga and attend some coffee mornings and would really appreciate any suggestions on the best ones available. I am not working so I can be quite flexible with days and times and would love to get to meet some ladies that are at the same stage of pregnancy. Thanks in advance :) x Congrats! We also decided not to find out the gender or I must say I decided that long time ago. It's also our first baby and I'm due mid december at City Hospital. I went to my first prenatal yoga class at the Springs Town Center. It was nice. I'm planning to continue attending every week. It's on Mondays at 12:30pm. I'm in Jvt area and free during the day. I'm hoping to make it to the EW coffee this morning. I also want to join prenatal pilates. They say the more active we are the better it is for labour.

I do think if the apartment is sold before your agreement ends 2015 then the new owner has to give you 12 months and there has to be a valid reason for he/she to ask you to vacate He/she moving in They are selling Major maintenance ( walls falling down etc) property is being demolished If the agency had thought about it they would of given you 12 months notice when they said it was up for sale, now your time in the property will increase. ;-) The new LL cannot just ask you to leave as they want to re-rent it to someone else at a higher price Thanks for all the info :-) I highly appreciate it.

We've done it 3 times. The best experience was with Arabian Adventures. The others not so great were north tours and golden desert. When my friend came to visit they booked a private car wt Arabian Adventures just for the 3 of them because they have a one year old child and didn't want anything too wild. They paid a little more for the private tour but was worth it. They had breakfast on the desert.

Hi ladies. Can you please share your recommendations - where to buy baby shower decorations, - a place that deliver inflated balloons, - good place for flower arrangements with delivery We also want to order canapés, finger food and a really Beautiful decorated cake. I'm more about the decoration of the cake, but I would prefer if the cake is very moist. Let me know your suggestions and recommendations. Thank you very much. - Baby shower decorations are available at Party Centre (two locations - Garhoud or Media City) - Blooms, Black Tulip, Worood, etc. all do beautiful floral arrangements - Inflated balloons would need to be picked up unless you were prepared to meet the minimum charges for orders or then pay a high delivery charge! - For canapes/finger food try Lime Tree Cafe or Shakespear or More Cafe catering... - For the cake, if you want really moist I would suggest going with Chocoa... as they are the one of the few places where i have seen that the fondant cakes are quite moist... normally fondant cakes aren't very moist as they need to be dense enough to hold the weight of the fondant... but Chocoa can be expensive... so if you're looking for slightly cheaper then try other bakeshops as well like Sugaholic or Sugalicious etc. and if you need any additional help with organising the party i'd be happy to answer ur questions... just pm on horizonmum2@gmail.com edited by HorizonMum2 on 17/09/2014 Thank you. Very Helpful. I'll keep your info. That's true fondant cakes are dry :-( I've seen some buttercream cakes that look like fondant, at least we couldn't tell if they don't tell us that it was not fondant but this was back home.Thk you again.

Bbarmani - How kool, we share the due date! I have chosen City Hospital, seems the place to be. x I go to Real Pilates for Prenatal Pilates and find that's helped a lot. I was into Pilates before and nice to carry on with it. Will try out Zen Yoga too. x Looks like we'll be there around the same time. We chose City Hospital as well. We are doing the prenatal classes there on the 26 of this month.

A couples massage. We Did Zabeel Saray Spa and Amala for dinner. We enjoyed it very much. Table 9 was very Nice and Romantic. Rib Room was romantic, not my fav food though. Toro Toro is nice. There's a couple of other nice restaurants at Grosvenor house as well. Al Mahara & Pier chic definitely great, but they are on the expensive side. La Parrilla Jumeirah beach hotel. Those are the ones that come to my mind right now.

At some point I heard of someone can't recall right now, but I'll ask around. I would be interested myself, for home service as well. Not only for hair, but for mani and pedi as well. That would be perfect. Specially in the coming months (last stage of pregnancy) Not for 50 dhs of course, but for a decent price. I usually pay 150 for my hair since it's medium-long when I go to the salon in MOE. Getting this services at home it's way more confortable so it should be properly compensated. I'll post if I find it. Hopefully we will ;-)

That's great. I will look into the prenatal classes asap. I'm planning to go to the coffee on Tue morning. Hello! I went to the antenatal class in city hospital as we are planning to deliver there. The class is really good hey really take their time to explain each method of pain treatment. I am also a new mum to be and I’m really keen to meet other ladies. We've decided to go wt City Hospital for child birth. A colleague recommended it to my husband. I'm 25 weeks now. I would like to join the antenatal Classes soon. Is anyone going to join this classes soon ? Either at the City hospital for those giving birth there or at any other private facility ? I would love to meet with someone and maybe join a class together. I'm around the Springs area. Last night I already started panicking about the labour pain. Does anyone think of this ? I should of have joined the coffee this morning, I've never been to one and I'm sure it's nice, plus it helps to meet with other ladies have a talk, socialize and get out of the daily routine. I actually haven't been back as been busy with summer holidays but will meet you there if you like. I am also on the springs. Where is Star Int School Located ? If it's not too far I'd be interested. I'm planning to attend to the coffee on Tue morning. It will be my first time attending. Excited to meet other ladies and the blessed moms to be. I'm interested in joining a prenatal workout class and or a prenatal yoga as well. I've never done yoga before, but I've read how much it helps with breathing during labour. If anyone has recommendations or would like to join as well. Let me know.

If you keep yourself really busy and your mind occupied; you leave less room for hunger anxiety. Sometimes is a mental thing and not that our body needs fuel. I believe it happens to all of us at some point. Drink lots of water wt lime or lemon, a warm tea wt no sugar, green tea and white tea are antioxidants. Go to the gym, join a class, when the weather gets better go for a walk around your neighborhood or park; and maybe jogging for a little bit. It's a matter of getting used to it and train our bodies to healthy habits. Eat only every 3.5 - 4 hours but healthy stuff. No sugar, dough, bread and high carbs food those make you want to eat more and more and they become fat in our system. Drink water wt lime before eating anything so you can get full quicker and don't eat at night specially after 7pm. Have a tea if you get hungry. After a week or so it will become easier. Best of Luck.

Got to go back and try their breakfast and dinner. Mason Mathis sounds great and it's close to my house. Definitely going to try it this weekend. I go to the one inside harvey nichols. I don't find it too expensive. It's 150 for the hair cut and blow-dry depending on your length mine is long I pay 125-150 for the blow dry, but if it's shorter the blow dry is 100. The service was good.

Many do, Fairmont The Palm, Waldorf The Palm (both have vouchers in The Entertainer body), there's Meridien/Westin, Riva Beach-club etc etc. Which one will depend on your budget. Ranges are between 100 and 300 dhs a day. Oh ok. Thank you. We don't really have a budget this time. Any of the Jumeirah hotels ? We accumulate points wt Jumeirah hotels. I've been to Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Zabeel Saray and I loved them, but it was not for a day pass; we stayed for the weekend. Not sure if they even offer day pass I would have to call.

Hellooo mommies-to-be and mommies, Been a while since I posted as well.. I too have my 20 week scan next week. Looking forward to it and praying that all would be fine. Unlike Britgirldubai , I haven't gain any weight :S When checked strat of 4th month, the doctor said i should start gaining 1/2 kg/ week ideally. But I havent ever since. I try taking more milk, eggs, nuts etc as adviced by the doctor..but i guess i need to do more.. But the scans show the baby is doing fine and has been growing well. Starting to worry now. My DH says I may not be eating enough. Will check wiht the doctor again during my next visit and see what she has to say. Oh BTW, I have strated feeling the movements...I used to wonder what bubbles breaking meant when I was reading about it..but now I can clearly feel it...and it feels great :) My doctor said that the healthy weight is 20 pounds total starting from the 20 week on. I have also not gain much weight. I'm 25 weeks now, but up to the 23 week I had gained 3 pounds. My doctor said it was fine. As long as I'm eating my 3 meals and snacks in between. I do not get much hungry though, but I eat something every 3-4 hours. My hemoglobin was low so that might be a reason why I haven't been getting hungry. I just started the iron the doctor prescribed and eating lentils.

Aramex seems expensive they charge 90 Dhs. I wonder if there's another company with lower prices.

Oh ok. Thank you! You will be able to buy them at lots of stores in any of the malls but it's way too early for them to have anything in stock yet. November will probably be when you start seeing items available. You can get reasonable priced items at Ace, Homes R Us, Home Centre, Geant, C4 and then more expensive at places like Lakeland, Crate and Barrel and Galleries Lafayette. edited by Yorky on 29/08/2014

I went to Talise Spa in Al Qasr. It was very nice. I had a lot of cervical pain at the beginning of my pregnancy and the massage really helped me. Wherever you go for the prenatal massage just tell the masseuse not to massage around the ankles, it's a very sensitive area during pregnancy. Some women believe it some don't, but it's better to be safe. My cousin learned this in school back in the States when she was studying to get her license so she warned me to avoid massages on my ankles and feet. Happy pregnancy and let us know how the massage went wherever you get it. I will book another one soon.

(Thank goodness) I'm planning to go back home (uk) to deliver, so I can't help with hospitals info (there's lots below already). My O/G Dr Koster is amazing!! (043881887) I had the nuchal screening with Dr Afshin Mirza at DHCC (who was excellent, and i'm planning to go back at 20-21 weeks for the detailed organ scans. I was planning to go to mums & bumps coffee at Mercato but it's stopped for Ramadan. It would be nice to chat to people going through the same, and without our old friends & family around. I tried Pre-natal Pilates at Zen Yoga (Town Centre, Jumeirah) yesterday pm, was quite good. I want to try the am class which is Pre-natal Yoga & with a different instructor, just need to chat to my boss about altering my working hours. Good luck everyone!! Hi. Congratulations! What does the nuchal test tells you? I Think That's the one I missed. I'm 17 weeks now, but I haven't done any tests for birth defects. There's one I can still do I think it's called Harmony. Are you familiar with it?
