Hi there, I have had the similar situation whilst waiting for my husbands visa to come through I fell pregnant. My husband still has his visa. I have decided not to do mine yet and have the baby in my home country that I am still a resident. What I found out whilst tirelessly researching options. If you do your residency visa MOST insurance companies will not cover your pregnancy as you are already pregnant. There are some who will cover it BUT I was told I would have to pay a large premium depending on if your pregnancy is low or high risk. Expecting to pay about 20,000 aed. This was because the insurance company know they will have to pay out for your birth and put extra on so that it covers any complications that may happen. If you pay yourself for the birth after speaking to different hospitals you are looking at the 15,000 aed mark . After speaking with people the Corniche hospital was most recommended and that was someone who was previously a midwife there - she stated that you may not get your private room etc but the medical personal there are the best. ADNIC with some of their policies cover you from day one if you are already pregnant (but high premium). I heard Daman possibly do- but after so much stress with all of this and the company messing us around for 6 months with my husbands visa I just decided better to have my baby at home. **most other companies require 6 months of having the insurance before you become pregnant to enable your pregnancy to be covered. I hope that helps you in someway :)

Hi there, I am not sure how helpful my reply will be. I got married last year whilst a UAE resident but outside the UAE. It was easier as my husband and I are both British. However we had to give notice of marriage which meant being in the country for 9 days whilst we did this. This had to be done 30 days before the wedding. I think if my husband had not been English it would have been a little more time consuming. After the wedding we got the marriage certificate attested by the commonwealth and then the UAE embassy in the UK (that part was easy) To change your name (In England anyway) you must first change your name on your bank or driving license to then change it on your passport. I hear that changing your name on your visa can be a bit of a pain in the UAE. I changed jobs so did my name change other wise I wouldn't have bothered until my passport needed renewing as it screamed hassel. It would have been ok to keep my maiden name though if I wanted to. My friends got married in Duabi at a Church the church then sent off the marriage certificate and got all that part sorted on their behalf. They were French and Australian and when they looked into it all this was the easiest option. Then they are having a second wedding with reception in the summer. I have heard Seychells is one of the easiest places to get married if you are different nationalities. Friends who are English and Filipino got married there as less documentation then UAE. Maybe worth a look (and beautiful place to marry). Hope this is of some help.
