Is this a TNT wannabe thread? Nonsense, most of it. Who makes the rules? Would love to see avatars of those who are giving advice on what should look like what, or what one ought do :) it is so individual. My mother, bless her, love her dearly...but the woman has an opinion for what is age appropriate for all and constantly makes comments about other women's looks. Can't stand it. Comparison is the thief of joy. What's more is I look at some of these magazine critics, or tv show critics...and wonder how they can stand to judge others? Surely not based on their personal qualifications as far as looks...rules are for control, that's it. Shall I go put on my uggs now since it is windy, and be a bogan?!

Thanks for the heads up ladies. Thinking I may go the route of getting a studio with a local partner. Being nosy, but are you doing some sort of fitness thing? That's a fair question :) yes indeed. Nutritional counseling will be my focus (surprise) but, Body sculpting through weight training and boot camps will be my fitness offerings. The latter probably won't see much business in July and August even if I offered a midnight class lol

Sure thing :) I hope you and your DH like it! The people I have turned onto it here absolutely love it! I'm grabbing a choc PB today myself. Some of the pharmacies will actually order the flavor you want, too. Most of them are just learning the sports supplement curve and make guesses when they place their order, but are happy to accommodate

Thanks so much for you replies! I totally agree grey zone to me equals red zone .... So I am really not happy on continuing like this and have there for also just worked for free . Beebers will also look into info you sent through, I have looked at all the free zone companies and RAK companies but it would still mean paying aed18000 - 25000. And I don't even make that in a year .... Yeah, no kidding! That is my conundrum and why I haven't bothered to practice here. Also I need some new certs, and the cost of those plus the proper licensing means I'm looking at more of a 3 year plan for real revenue rather than a 1 year. I've mentioned before on this program I don't practice in Dubai because its not lucrative enough, but truthfully it is difficult to even be profitable for a while, especially with a blank slate as far as clientele, advertising costs....sheesh. If I come across anything I will post back here. I don't know about you, but I prefer to be self employed in this field, as I don't desire to varnish my opinions or mold to a certain mantra that isn't congruent with my core values.

Hi pseif, no answers but funny I was just going to start a similar thread. Trying to figure out, aside from the grey zone you mentioned, which I'm not down for either, how personal trainers, life coaches, et all in health and wellness operate. The individual trainers I know don't go about it the way I want to. A friend of mine in a different sector mentioned virtuzone so I'm looking into that today. Would love to hear feedback from someone doing one of those things legally! X

Hi MumC, I've used Prolab isolate before. I don't like the taste and isolates are not very filling. Always hungry sooner than when I take others. A good isolate should have 27g protein in a 30g scoop. Otherwise...what does the other 6 consist of if its nearly fat free and carb free? Usually fillers....Isolates are good for when you are 10% body fat and trying to get under that. It takes extreme measures of very, very clean food and pure protein shakes. There is nothing wrong with drinking them at any stage of your fitness journey--but if you don't want to sacrifice taste, and don't have to, then why do so? I guess that's my philosophy. I use optimum brand 100% whey for late snacking because like th Prolab isolate, it has 24g and almost no fat or carbs. (It's an isolate/concentrate blend). Syntha-6 by BSN is a blend of whey and other proteins, has some carbs and low sugar, and tastes absolutely delicious. It's is why i recommend it. It also makes for a better meal replacement due to higher caloric content and the carbs. I'm pretty lean right now, and still losing fat weekly drinking this. It's also economical and comes from a good manufacturer. (Glanbia) one other thing: isolates are the fastest acting wheys, and you will see them marketed this way. Gets into your system faster. What they won't tell you is it is like 2% faster. Not worth the money, to me, and few taste yummy or fill you up. Plus protein is propelled and utilized better with a tiny bit of sugar after a workout, and carbs help repartition the proteins, further utilizing them more efficiently. :) I just had a Cookies and Cream flavored one as I'm off for a training session. So yummy !! One reason I can go weeks without having a sugar fit. I don't even crave sweets. X

Hi, I've owned two treadmills in my time. One was fairly cheap, and boy did it show :( started squeaking, had issues, then when I called a repair guy, the cost to fix it was nearly what I paid for it. The second was one I bought off someone used, and it worked the two years I needed it to before moving away and needing to ditch it anyway. I guess what I'm getting at is go for a quality brand either new or used. Such as Lifetime fitness or precor. There is an excellent shop across from minutes in Dubai Mall, around the corner from Waitrose. If you plan to have it for 5 years, think of how much a gym membership would cost, the transportation getting to and from, as well as the hours gyms are open. 5 yrs of an average gym membership is around 12,500 dhs. If the treadmill costs less, there you go x

On groupon, seems they are always offering bundles like the ones mentioned from Juan's but for much, much less. I used to go to Hairworks in Rimal, but the cuts and color the last two times weren't what I was hoping for. But I thought it was cheap there. Depends what you think is cheap.

Been there, done that. Back on the mend with little to no hair falling out. Unless it gets tangled badly. Supplements with b vitamins and the b vitamin family do help, and like others, i love Phytophenares. I also have noticed even less dryness now that I use a shampoo bar from Lush :) can't say enough good things about it! Last week I finally gave in and started using bottled water. I wish I had done it sooner. I guess I felt too indulgent, but yep...I'm over that :) I feel like I have my pre-Dubai hair back, which is great, because I even get highlights here which I wouldn't have considered when I was the incredible shedding woman 2 yrs ago x

Well i presume that they are not earlier risers...... Maybe time to dig out that opera cd; perhaps a good blast with breakfast?? Lol seriously! We had a brief stint of noisy neighbors in a home I lived in. Parties all night lone, motorcycles, ugh...you name it. I would start up my lawnmower nice and early, run the leaf blower...anything, as early as I could without getting a ticket myself on the weekends. I would take my time trimming the bushes in between our houses, especially. finally, the nocturnals spoke to me about it, and I told them I was up for a truce. It worked, but I don't know if you have all that landscaping equipment, or foliage lol

Geez! There's a reason that dangerous or careless driving comes up constantly on this forum. As a pedestrian, I'm flat out scared here. Never looked so many times before crossing the street. I don't trust anything, including a walk signal. And what is it with people ignoring the stop sign when the school bus is letting children out? Had some lunatic bearing down on his horn because I stopped behind a school bus with the sign out, and lights on. The idiot could clearly see past my car but I guess it didn't register. So after trying to deafen me with his horn, he goes around me, gunning his engine....and comes to a complete stop just 15 meters ahead where traffic was backed up. We weren't going anywhere, anyway!! I've not taken driving lessons here, but I'm curious what they teach regarding school buses. In the states that is a hefty fine for disregarding a school bus letting children out.

I've been with DH for a long time and we no longer celebrate Valentines. However I have some of the loveliest memories of our "courting" years and Valentines was fun! You've only been with your guy for 3 months - I know Valentines is commercialised and everything is over-priced... but you are building memories and if you're really into each other then forget that it's a commercial day and simply be a young romantic and do something special. It doesn't have to be overly romantic. Just "what shall we do to mark our 1st valentines. How about ....." He might be planning something but if he's not it might be a relief to him that you're happy to suggest something. If your relationship is for the long-term then you have plenty of years to not bother with Valentines...and as you can see from most of the replies on this thread, the married ladies tend not to bother with it :) . What a great response, agree 100% I don't normally collect birthday cards, or Christmas cards, but I keep each card I have gotten for Valentines from my DH. I know sometimes we get irked by retail companies insisting we spend, spend, spend on a certain day--and if we don't, we can be made to feel bitter or stingy. But it's also okay to bother with the cheesy things...building memories as others have said. You never know how important those gestures may become. Quick story. My best friend was previously married and over 40. He met a woman who was also divorced and older. Early in their relationship, she produced a notebook, and said she would like to use it to express their gratitude and feelings to each other. My friend was not the kind of guy to speak about his feelings, let alone write them down. I wouldnt consider either of them the hopeless romantic type, but it is never too late to attempt that kind of thing. he went along with it. When he passed away, suddenly and shocking 2 months later, you can only imagine how grateful the woman was that she had that book, even though they may have thought it a little cheesy at the time. You just never know, and memories in your head are nice...but sometimes physical tokens are even nicer.

Like i mentioned she did take it upon herself to go have a check up and all tests including thyroid are fine. She is in talks with two new trainers and a gym this week so let's see what she decides. She is finding it difficult to bin the current trainer though. That is easier said then done, changing trainers. You mean she is looking into changing gyms, and finding a trainer at the new one? That might be best so she doesn't have to feel awkward on top of being frustrated due to her lack of results x

Wednesday genius, I feel the same. No matter how long I have been here or will stay, I don't do the whole shake down bit, sorry. It is none of these peoples business what I pay in rent, where my husband is, or anything else. Yes they asked. Going into to rooms to look around how else you can "help" me while I'm showing you what's leaking doesn't sit well with me. When I say no and you argue, less points there, too. Why was I uncomfortable? I was. I tip because they are inclined to, not when I'm pressured to. People going above and beyond, or delivery, etc, but I don't tip people to be aggressive with me in my own home. At 8pm I was in my jammies as that's nearly bedtime...and 7 hours after promised appointment. Sheesh...being American, I probably tip too often and too much. My prerogative though, eh?

Hi Rock, Feefmick has valid points but I'll add my two cents. On another thread we were talking about oxy elite. Nothing against USP Labs, but keep in mind any sports supplements go through what I consider less than strict regulation by the FDA. Even herbals. The raw materials and chemicals come from countries I would not buy produce from, and the manufacturing facilities are supposed to be GMP certified as of 2010; but the Raws are the problem. Not too long ago there was a cross contamination issue with glucosamine and fertilizer. And that was just one that wasn't missed. Oxy elite also has DMAA, the ingredient that wigs you out. It is an analog of methamphetamine. It was supposed to be banned but as of yet it has only been talk. Regardless many fat burners made these days do not contain DMAA because no companies want to deal with a million dollar recall. As far as being hungry? Goodness...I ate 1700 calories yesterday and was ravenous! When your metabolism is in high gear, hunger can be a fact of life. I drink a lot of water in between meals which helps, as well as green tea. Really, any herbal tea is helpful even though it sounds pitifully ineffective, try it. Hoodia tea is supposed to curb hunger but it just gives me a headache. Theophylline ( I think that is the spelling ) was actually an ingredient in oxy, not sure if they took it out after the first run, but it's a thermogenic naturally occurring in cocoa powder. In the mornings before I run, I mix a tsp in my black coffee and it gives me a nice boost, allowing me to power through my workout without wanting to quit early because I'm so hungry. I have a cup sometimes in the afternoon, the same way. You may try that. African cocoa, according to the cocoa board, has high amounts of theophylline, and that's what i get. On ephedra, it was banned, then not, but I think certain sport organizations still prohibit athletes from using it. I know it's tough, everybody who is restricted in calories or very active--or both--gets hungry. Just think when you are hungry, your metabolism is working. Vacuum your floors. Write a shopping list. Make a new workout play list or go for a stroll. Just get your mind off the food and soon it will be second nature! X

It sounds like the OP's sister is an exception to most people, who want results in 2 sessions! In a way it is good she gave it an honest shot with this one trainer before quitting. But I would drop a client that was not getting results but telling me she is eating well. It makes you look bad as a professional. It's not about about making money, you have a reputation to consider. Sounds like someone is just collecting a steady paycheck.

doh! i responded yesterday, but i guess it didn't post. Apologies, I have been hopping between hotspots, as I am awaiting internet hook up in my new place. First, suncat, you can remove your email, got it. Second, Hi Irooni, there you are! Was teasing that maybe you were mopping :) Hope this gives some inspiration. ;) A Rancher, I remember you asking about someone to train your daughter and I think it is good that you want to set an example for your children to follow. Because they do; they will learn habits according to your choices. I grew up on canned spaghetti and microwave dinners, because that is what my Mom had the time for. What was I going to do, cook at the age of 8??? I guess you could say I am one of those, except I competed in the figure division which is conditioned, but with less muscle mass and it is a bit more like a pageant, not a pose down session! lol. I don't have big guns and I look feminine. Bodybuilding is great, I have a ton of female friends that do it--it just isn't what I want for myself. There is a story to many people in the magazines that the public never knows. It looks easy, of course. And then sometimes you're left wondering, how the heck can I do that? Those women are so lucky....few of them are, most of them have to work really hard for it, and sacrifice a large part of their life in order to maintain that image and body. Sad but true.

Exercising does not work for everyone. She has to find the right diet. I would stop draining money to this pt and find a good dietitian. Then restart some other exercise when the diet is already working. If I was training someone and they had no progress, exactly. I would confront the client and ask them to be very honest about what they are doing the other 23 hours of the day, because that is what is amiss, clearly! Now if we were doing seriously intense training like boot camp, heavy lifting, or cross fit style plyo, even without a perfect diet they should see results. But if the nature of the sessions are circuit or mostly aerobic-centric, the diet must be adhered to perfectly.

St Barbara's and the Bone Church were excellent, a must do. I actually think St Barbara's was better than Notre Dame. Littleone, how did you get there? We took a train, and barely made it. Thought I might point out that for some people, even with the hotel concierge's directives, it might be a little difficult to get on the right train and navigate the station. When we got off at the Kutna Hora stop--DH was worried I made a mistake in my tripadvisor scouring lol. He thought we were in the middle of nowhere :) We just walked on the only road toward town, though, then all fears were gone, signs for the churches everywhere.

We went during the beer festival (coincidence, totally...) last year and loved it, so much that we NEED to get back. We stayed at the Movenpick. It's a bit off the square, but we loved all the exploration on our way to Charles Bridge and the Old Town. Totally walkable. We also hopped on a train to Kutna Hora to see a couple of Cathedrals (St. Barbara's was amazing, and my DH has seen tons in Europe before). There is also the Sedlec Ossuary there, or Bone Church. have fun, go!!!!

Hi DQ :) Ended up we moved on Saturday...new building didn't allows Friday moves. Fly Movers overall I would rate pretty well. Hasan called me the same day for an over-the-phone quote, and was able to book for 4 days after that. That alone was nice! The team was supposed to be here at 9 (called at 8:30 to say they were en route) but arrived 35 minutes late. They did call to say traffic was bad, and it is. The roundabouts in the marina are really backing up the bridges. On to the pack up. They did good with the kitchen, great with furniture dismantling and wrapping. Clothes...personally I wouldn't put pigskin jackets and nice dress shirts on the bottom of a box with jeans and shoes on top...but if you give them specifics they will follow. I was just tied up with another issue. Nothing was damaged. They were slow, so my DH ran and got them lunch. Again--I don't think this was their fault, as the new building had 3 elevators out for service and is still partially under construction. They also had to walk the furniture quite a ways. They didn't complain at all..but I knew it was not one of their easier moves. They assembled DH's desk backwards, but we just laughed b/c when we assembled it ourselves we were cussing. Not a big deal, easy fix. They fixed a broken plank in our bed without even asking, and that was really nice! When it got to be about 5:30, we told them we would unpack the remaining boxes because 1) I prefer to put my own kitchen stuff away after washing things, and 2) we were ready to get out and have a cocktail. We gave them a good tip, because it was not an easy job, they listened to direction when it was given, and they were very polite. I would highly recommend Fly Movers, and thank you to (I forget who??) for passing their info on to me. They were also 1/2 the price of Pack and Move, as well as On the Move. Now if we could just get the bathtubs to stop flooding and get some hot water going on, that would be greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeat. The kitchen water gets scalding...may have to take a bath in my sink!

Every trainer is going to have a different approach with different mantras. No two people are the same for what works, either. Some things are always true, but saying "absolutely no rice" or "forget red meat" is too sweeping of a suggestion. I am opinionated on this topic, that's for sure, but what I have found to be true is this. The types of food you put in your body do different things. Some repair muscle, some make your skin look clear and beautiful--but calories are important to count IF you are not eating clean whole foods. IF you are eating clean whole foods, the calories/grams/whatever are less important. I do know that I like the way I look naked when I am eating clean--not counting calories. For me, that's what I am after. Bikini body, not which size dress I can squeeze in. But there is no use arguing about it!!
