thank you ladies! I am in search of a wifi + 3G iPad2 with 32G. If anyone else is shopping for this, I went to every store at MOE that sells them today and no one had the 32G ipad 2. (jadopado didn't, nor did Apple store :() So I think I may have to settle for the 16 if I don't want to go to an iPad 3, and most stores are pretty comparably price for this product. thanks again!

really--Kaye needs a break here! I understand the "stop lying" thread might have some people assuming she is trying to pawn off a bad maid, but if she said "Help, DH has been made redundant and we can't afford our maid" or if she had something else, everybody wouldn't jump like this. Should she have to go into detail about personal life not to get lashed? :( edited by Beebers on 18/12/2012

Hi SC, I know where you are at. At least to an extent. I worked for someone who was an acquaintance of one of my good friends. Well, I resigned, and I really needed to as it was a bad deal. Unfortunately, things got really heated--even right before I resigned. Like you I remained calm. I was very careful not to express much in emails, as I didn't want anything held against me later through documentation. I would say dust off, shake it off, and try not to let it get you down. Nobody feels good about a bad "work breakup" but the less you respond, the better. If you are free and clear, try to just ignore any subsequent emails and wait for the dist to settle. Maybe one day you can have an amicable professional relationship, but in my case, this was not so. x

I may be the minority, but I don't think saturated fat deserves the bad rap it gets. But if you look at foods which contain a higher than normal amount, these foods are very acidic. Acidic environment in the body = leads to disease. If you throw alkaline foods into the mix, this changes things. And portion control, portion control! P.S. I love watching Nigella. And Sophie Dahl. I always say "One day I'll cook that" but it doesn't happen often!

Hello Nippy, a lot of ladies here have been left shaken by what you're going through and are thinking of you often throughout the day. xxx Absolutely, shaken by the thought and then thinking this is really happening to someone. Love and light, Nippy x

It didn't sound nasty to me, but there was a thread yesterday (Stop Lying thread) about how people should be wary of those looking to help their maid get a new job. Supposedly that is a warning sign for the next family as several have had bad experiences.

http://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2012/10/make-your-own-all-natural-deodorant-stick-or-spray.html not sure if you can find the beeswax pellets here, but you can def find all the ingredients for the spray deodorant. Wow, that looks really awesome, the "stick" version! I am bookmarking that and will try it I can find beeswax pellets :) good one! I switched to Nivea black and white roll on for the staining issue, but it is not aluminum free. Like OP, cancer in the family, so would like to switch to a worry-free one next time. TB, I have seen Tom's at Waitrose, and random pharmacies around town like Aster, Marina Pharmacy, etc. Just not Boots. Another option is Lush's deodorant products, but I have never tried them. Luckily they have a ton of reviews on the site, so you can see what other ladies have to say.

@norak- Peanut is the seed inside a whole groundnut..basically the same. Seems like groundnut oil is not used by majority of people...cldn't find it in choithram's. @beebers- Waitrose oil is refined, its refined to such an extent, that when I open the bottle, I can't make out what oil that is, peanut oil has this very nutty kind of aroma ! if it wasn't for the label on the bottle..& also very expensive, for daily use that is... you thought it was expensive? 500mL was, I think 14 dhs? I just don't use it often enough, but when I do curries (Thai or Malaysian) I like it because as you said--no flavor at all! We deep fried a turkey in peanut oil for the holiday 2 years ago and I think the oil cost more than our bill at A & E! lol

Parachuting over the Palm. Now that sounds cool, did you love it? If you're scared, try parasailing :) DCC, plenty of things, but I wouldn't talk about them here! ha! One weekend that comes to mind is when I went gambling to see how long I could survive with $100. I ended up in Nevada for nearly a week, eeks. Next time I'll try Macau but think I better bring DH along. ("Big Trouble in Little China" comes to mind).

Mmmm... seems like it.s very bad indeed... but i got a good deal there... 2 bedrooms for 65 ... so can i survive or no that is the question... Have you already signed a lease? Having stress caused by problems in your home isn't good for mental health! I've been there, and unfortunately the minutiae adds up, and it can affect other areas of your life. You probably won't find a 2 bed for 65 in the Marina in a good building, so it's a good deal, but at what cost to your quality of life? Always a good idea to speak to residents of a building if they are willing to give you a moment of their time. I ask about maintenance, facilities, noise within the building, neighboring building, cell phone reception--all the things an agent is not going to know, or be willing to let on to.

Stupid question: European imports? Does that mean I'll need an adapter to fit the sockets here? You can speak to one of their customer service agents online to find out. I guess it depends what country the iPad comes from. If it was UK, for example, it would be the same as here. The one I bought came with a UK/UAE style plug. Your iPod charger will work with it anyway, if it does come with a different plug. aha, good point. Will do, thanks again

23 Marina is impeccably managed and maintained. Their 2 bed + maids are huge. I looked at a unit there for 120K but that is before agency fee and deposit, of course. Couldn't tolerate the view, but if that is not important to you, might be worth a look. Also know someone who lives in KG and loves it. In fact for your budget, you might have more luck on the south side of the Marina or JLT. Green Lakes Towers are nice there.

So you think I can get it in any good Pharmacy? Sure. If I am right that Thyroxin is levothyronine sodium, and is the same as Eltroxin, you can get it at Boots, Aster, and many others with no prescription. It is behind the counter, but no scrip is necessary.

Great recommendation Beebers - there is no harm in everyone having a book like this, whether in a relationship, friendship etc as we tend to not just argue with partners but also with families, friends etc...This would at least guide and put things into perspective for one. Really appreciate all your support. Thank you edited by lilia on 13/12/2012 Sure :) When I first read your posts, I saw a lot of familiarity from a previous relationship of mine where the guy was a nut that just loved to argue. Hency the backpacking image. But even good people learn bad habits from past relationships and drag them into what could be a good relationship. So a book like this can really help guide with healthy approaches. My FIL gave this book to my DH a decade ago, when he was single, because he wanted him to do things the right way first :) lucky me

In the book "The Seven Principles of making Marriage Work" the author splits conflicts up into 2 categories. Solvable, or perpetual. First, determine which the argument is. If it is solvable, then when you want to yell, instead, remind yourself to be solution oriented. What comes out of your mouth should be geared at a solution, not antagonizing. If it is perpetual, one of you will have to back down, and all you can do is manage it. When the conflict comes up, just agree to disagree, and don't add more fuel to a perpetual fire. This is a great book for those who consider their relationship serious enough to turn into marriages, not just for married couples. It is a great one. It is interactive, too, like a workbook. Worth picking up as it causes you to evaluate yourself, which is where you need to start. good luck x

it's always difficult to give an opinion on this, we only know one side of the story. But if they are already fighting that much, I'd think this won't last very long. True. I can't imagine if I was dating an insufferable ***** that I would be looking for a book on how to argue better. ?! Takes two and we'll never know.

I simply couldn't tolerate it. OP says she doesn't get her point across because she can't get a word in. Why would you want to be with someone who doesn't want to hear what you have to say, even if they don't agree? That means they don't value what you say. That's called disrespect, and it doesn't improve! No one is that rich, that hot, that smart, or that fabulous that you should stand there and be disrespected.

Hi ladies... Thanks for the feedback... Oops sorry - by recently I meant 4 months...we have been seeing each other at least 5 days a week and we normally stay over at each others a few nights a week..I guess this makes it feel like its quality time and not quantity. I know its not years but I feel like we have got to know each other quite well.. Not to sound harsh, but that's still a bad sign if arguing elevates to a screaming match, even after 4 months. None of us know what exactly you are arguing about, but if your relationship progresses into something really serious, imagine when dire issues come up in life. Don't you want to be with someone whom you can have a productive and constructive argument with? If the arguments have anything to do with jealousy, mistrust, or religious/cultural differences, just imagine when "life" happens. Financial difficulties, raising children, illnesses...you know, real life problems?? Yikes. Also, it takes two to tango. One of both of you might want to consider gaining some maturity before getting into a commitment.

They have those bath bombs (?) and one of them made "snow." :) It was fun to wake up Christmas morning, draw a bath, and sip a hot cocoa surrounded by my "snow"

Definitely keep documentation. If she prints the emails out and keeps them in a folder, or puts them on a zip drive, that would be good. In the US, I was surprised to find out that a harassment charges can be filed over text messages. Unfortunately one of my friends had to do just that, and they are using it as the basis for a restraining order.

I don't know what it is this year, but my Mom actually said she wanted our banking information so she could send $ and we could buy what we wanted OR please walk her through how to ship things here. :\: wasn't expecting that! Last time I got anything was 4 years ago--the last time I flew home, and I have never expected anything. Then my DH informed me my FIL wants to buy me an iPad2 for Christmas since he loves his so much, and asked the best way to go about it; send $ or send the device. I have no Christmas rants. Just letting y'all know you're never too old to be surprised on Christmas, if that makes sense :)
