Glad you found the water proof duvet covers!! Just thought - maybe these guests get upset stomach when they come to Dubai - some people do you know. I think it is the water(?!) You can give them a packet of Immodiem(?) Other wise feel sorry for ANYONE who has to clean up. Also - that sort of thing can spread germs /diseases etc. Having said that I did know American lady who moved to Uk - she had all her toilets change to wide bowled with heavy flushers so they were always clean!!.

There are not any waterproof duvet covers -you will not be able to find them anywhere. Who would do such a thing? Why are you having these people back again? What will you say to them? Are they incontinent? If so they should have their own pads for that or you can get them from medical suppliers.

See Go Tours web site for the regulations - you have 9 days to renew after it has expired. You cannot do it on line. After your Visa has expired for 10 days the fines start per day.

As no one has answered you - I can say I have never heard of them. Are they rental and sales agents in Dubai? I did sell o property in Dubai not long ago and trawled through agents but they were not one of them. Regarding fees and any costs - get everything in writing in advance of any arrangement . If they suddenly come up with exactly what you what - beware that their fees may change at the last minute. That happened to me with a very large agent - I was told verbally there were no fees to seller then when buyer was found who had to ''rush'' - high fees to agent were slipped onto the contract. I did not proceed with this agent but was told I was still liable to their fees if I sold within about 3 months of the contract.

I have no experience of it myself but when I saw your post I thought of the Iranian Hospital. If you google ''giving birth at the Iranian Hospital'' - quite a lot comes up on chat sites - including EW. In June 2010 Febetka said the Iranian Hospital cost AED4,100 for delivery minus 20% with health card. Good luck!

Agree completely with leonee. A lot of permanent UK residents actually buy properties to live in for the catchment areas of the state school they want for their child to go to some time before the child will actually register. You may have to live outside London itself for a good state school and commute to your work place. The public boarding schools (Public schools = private schools) are very expensive. Your child might just get into a private ''crammer'' in London if you can find one, which are not as expensive as ''regular'' private schools. They are not schools as such - just teach/coach the child to pass the exams. There are education advice bureaux may help you but I think they advise on the private sector.

If no one replies with a ear, nose and throat specialist here - see a good GP who can send you to one. I was told this condition can cause another more serious condition of the throat area.

Just one other thing to add - although you don't have to, I was advised to register myself as non-UK resident by my tax accountant when I first came out here (there's a simple form on the HMRC website). There doesn't appear to be any negatives to doing this, but it does mean that if you go back to the UK, and for the time you are doing any tax returns from out here, the HMRC have accurate information for you, and you're not having to prove where you've been in the intervening years, which apparently you can be asked to do! Most people fill in the P85 form when leaving UK.

You can look on the web sites of the larger accountancy firms such as PWC and KPMG for the regulations applying to tax as a non resident and also on HMRC web site. Generally it depends on the number of days you spend in UK that determines your tax status and not whether you work part time. The one most known is the 90 day rule but other rules can apply.

While agreeing with the others, I would say you might allow yourself a limited time for this job as long as the school fulfils its legal obligations. Give it a time limit if you can get a short contract - a year perhaps. This way you could allow yourself a life changing experience.

You could even try an entire wig - these can be ordered online from places like wigsmart.co.uk and are not very expensive or perhaps someone does wigs in Dubai. You' ll then get the ''entire'' look with a wig not a mixture of hair piece and own hair.- the difference between the 2 can show - especially in strong sun light.

Hi Saralou - it would seem your landlord is paying your A/C, which is supplied by the management - EMAAR as DEWA does not include A/C.

You could ask the managing agents such as Emaar for your building what the average cost for a one bed. in a certain building is likely to be. You can also reduce cost by not running A/C all the time - many people switch it off in the winter for a few hours but you have to be careful you don't get any mould from damp. Some landlord may include it in their rent as they are the people who would pay the actual bill usually.

The seller absolutely does not need to pay any agency fees and there are plenty of agents who agree to that. You need to sign the Form between agent and seller and it stipulate what the sellers fees are - i.e 0% when you take on the agent initially. That does mean the agent is working for the buyer - not you. The form also says you do or do not agree to an exclusive agency agreement for x number of weeks. Do not let the agent say you don't have to pay anything and then they come up with a very good offer and rush you to sign quickly - as happened to me - they sneaked in a high fee in AED on the form. The sale then fell through and probably wasn't even genuine - but I was told that contract agreeing to pay the high commission (because the agree price had been high) was valid for 8 weeks even if the property sold for less. I withdrew from selling my property for 3 months and then went to another agent who did not charge me anything. I had paid alot in fees and used solicitor when I bought so wanted to reduce cost when selling. All I had to pay was AED1,500 for the NOC from management/developer.

A difficult situation - it was kind of you to help - if it wasn't a con. I find something like that a bit scary - especially as you seem to have been alone. And as you say - ''butter''?? - not the first thing that springs to mind for someone without any money. Did you ask them about their Visa situation and whether they had any family or friends or had contacted their embassy or charity for advice etc.? They should probably leave ASAP. Where in Dubai(?) did it happen?

If buying from a private person they should be willing to get it an inspection report from somewhere like scoutmycar before they sell it - which gives details on vehicle's safety, performance, electrics, history, crashes, bodywork etc.

Thanks Sarahlou - the ''other end'' has all been taken care of as a new account was set up for this money ( so it is not mixed with other money which may complicate tax in the future i.e separating different sources of money into different accounts for tax). All the tax etc forms have been submitted and accepted. After research online today we are leaning towards UAE Exchange for currency conversion and the transfer particularly if friend decides to take Sterling. But she may change the AED to US$ if she thinks Sterling will weaken further and there does not seem much difference between the banks and the Exchange Bureaux with changing to US$ - I expect that is because AED is pegged to US$ - although there are slight differences. Has anyone sent money with UAE Exchange lately?

Sorry to hear about your situation. If you search on some of the estate agents sites you will see several of them have African gentlemen working for them - their pictures coming up. Perhaps they are from Kenya or elsewhere other than Nigeria. I know from current personal experience of trying to sell a property that there seem to be more agents than buyers or sellers at the moment. There are a great deal of small self employed agents who are emailing or phoning me virtually every day to try to get my property on their books, though I have a agent I signed with. Also I would say my agent has brought more other agents to see the property than he has brought actual buyers! I even asked him - ''have those small agents actually got any clients?'' One can tell the difference between an agent and a buyer. Sorry that my experience is not encouraging for you.

Can't thank you enough Skyfall! What a revelation! I have been searching on google for causes for fuse switches tripping but this is important information needed for here. I would never have thought of any of it at all. Will still keep the appointment with electrician coming tomorrow and ask these points you raise as he is booked now - especial about DEWA and their requirements. Great respect for your knowledge! What I found out were just briefly list of causes for fuses tripping, for anyone interested - 1.Fuse designed for too small a circuit 2. Certain appliance can cause electricity spike that trip fuses 3. Faulty wiring ( 30year old wiring) 4. Faulty appliances 5. Bad quality fuses. 6. Spikes propagated to fuse box from outside - such as neighbour .7. Other.... Will get on to Emaar to morrow regarding supply to my floor.

Many of my kitchen appliances are fusing at the fuse box - turning the switches off - that is the oven, water heater and the washing machine! As I had clothes in washing machine I called in someone who could come that day - Wednesday, last week. They decided the problem was the dishwasher - which I actually never use and disconnected it at the fuse box! Since then the problem has continued with the water heater and oven switching off again. I switched the water heater on but cannot get oven to work now! I have called in another electrician for tomorrow - but that company did not seem keen to come - saying it was an appliance problem - but I pointed out all the appliances are unlikely to go at once! I am in an Emaar building and the property has never had ''hard use'' or ever been rented. I hope I do not have to re - wire! Any advice or recommendations for an amazingly brilliant electrican appreciated. Has anyone had to rewire a flat's main appliances?

Some times boys that age need to be very active to channel their aggression - physically and mentally - not just sit about naval gazing about themselves!. Competitive runs, climbs, swimming, any extra sport might be a help. Also let him know his full heritage, culture, and national history to be proud of. Point out all skin types are/can be attractive/very attractive and why. His education and school should be keeping him on the right track ( as well as parents of course). Praise him for what he is good at. Hopefully he can find something he is very interested in. Encourage him with your national role models eg sports men etc. past and present. Good luck.

Perhaps he is doing it at school - so you don't know if he has done his poo? The leakage may be an upset stomach? Perhaps you could let him take ipad to loo with him - instead of taking it away - thus not make it a 'big deal' if he goes or not? Unless it is really a serious problem such as causing bad stomach ache from holding it in - perhaps it's best just to not make him too worried about it. Not every one is regular!

Do you or the agent have a record of where he works ?- if so - go there and demand cash from him in front of as many co workers as possible. Depending on the nationality - shout loudly at him etc. If he says he hasn't got cash tell him you will go with him to bank/ATM or tell him to get a bank loan. Complain to his boss etc.

It can be surprising what a range of people can object to a very young girl not wearing a swim top .I remember being in Miami by myself with 2 kids - 6 and 3 but my husband had code locked the suitcases and gone elsewhere - so we had no clothes! After a day or two I took the kids to a very empty beach - the 3 yr.old girl wearing only bottoms as could not get her swim suit .Near by there were 3 little boys who seemed to be acting rather strangely, laughing and staring etc. After a few minutes a woman (mother of boys) came over to me to say my child should not be on the beach like that. I told her - she is only 3 and we have no luggage but then left the beach! What really shocked me was the little boys who were all probably only 6 or under had already been taught something like that was lewd/wicked.

In Dubai everything is possible, that's what makes it so great. ;) Whether the Hotel Apartment will help you with shipping or not will be up to the one you end up living in temporarily, bear in mind most come furnished so you would have to store your stuff somewhere until you find a place of your own (at extra cost) unless you find an unfurnished one. Then it is up to negotiations with the person in charge. Most flats offer 1 year contracts, it is very difficult to find decent ones that offer shorter stay but possible, a few friends managed to sign 6 months or 9 months too but was rare. Dubizzle, propertyfinder can be useful websites to check. Thanks Skyfall, I will be using a relocation company for the move, and don;t have much furniture I want to move, mostly cloths, books, ornaments, TV. Just wondered if a hotel apartment would allow that? Will look at property finder and dubizzle. Thanks again!:-) I just noticed a one bed flat available on the site justproperty in the Views - furnished and serviced for 14,000 AED a month with an agent called PK Properties - to whom I have no connection - minimum time is one month. There will no doubt be some others. I think Edwards and Towers also does short lets. Other sites are propertyfinder and bayut.

It seems you have been married for at least 18 years but still expect to be treated like a young bride. You say on the one hand you'' love him so much'' but you cannot stand the way he treats you.
