Passport, Maids Passport, Emirates ID and Tickets, that is all he needs at the immigration counter in Dubai airport. Stop dragging this out the next thing you know she will run away and leave you with an absconding case to file.

Someone has just told me that if he needs the propery for himself (which, apparently, he does) then he doesn't have to give 12 months notice. Is this true? No he has to give you 12 months with a non renewable contract, you need to go to RERA and they will fight this on your behalf.

Victoria 2 things, Why are you mentioning a fine ? there should be no fine. The maid can come back after one year, but the new employer will know that she was here before as when they do the visa it will show she received a ban, in Sharjah they inform us of this, in Dubai I have no idea, also her passport will show the cancelled visa unless she changes her passport. The cure is book the ticket, take her to the airport and say Masallama

Victoria, I see your side also but until she has a new visa or departs from the country she is YOUR responsibility. Sorry I just noticed that you want to keep her visa for one month, my dear if she is caught working outside your home on your visa you will be liable for a 50,000.00aed fine and blacklisted in the immigration, this is a risk I would not take. The ban is for 1 year, she can go to singapore or another non GCC country. For me it is simple, I am sorry having been here for 18 years and having had numerous maids, the way she has behaved is unacceptable and as an employer if I found the previous sponsor had issues I would be very upset. At the end of the day you have to do what you feel is right, what is right for me maybe would not be right. edited by Birchy on 23/05/2013

I drive from the other side of Sharjah every day into Dubai, it would depend on your family circumstances, I am fortunate that DH is home in the afternoons and I also have the bypass very close to my home so for me there is no rush hour.

Victoria, Please accept my apologies in advance as I think you may well take what I am going to say the wrong way. It is people like yourself with a kind heart that make so many issues for the rest of us, can I ask for you to put yourself into this situation, - you find a maid, you like her, she likes you, you feel you can work together, you transfer her visa to your sponsorship then you find out she is not what you expected, she is rude, lazy, shouting at the children, then you come to know that the previous sponsor cancelled her as she had a bad attitude, was poor with the children - how would you feel ? would you not be angry with the previous sponsor for passing you a bad apple ? you are basiclly passing this rude good for nothing little madam onto another family to ease your life a little, this to me is unacceptable, Maids will continue to behave like this as long as we allow them to get away with this behaviour. I am really sorry to be harsh but you need to kick this little madams backside right back to the village where she came from, let her learn a lesson. I do feel for you but you need to be strong. edited by Birchy on 23/05/2013

Give yourself 4 hours, also she is liable for the flight home as she has breached the contract, but..... for simplicity I would not pay her this months salary and use it as payment for the ticket. make sure you get a copy of the cancellation paper and you will need to go back and get the exit paper so that you can clain your deposit back.

Apologies for posting this on the general forum, but wanted reawaken sure we get a quick response. Can some one help us urgently with the process for sending a maid home? We want to do this ASAP, literally today/tomorrow if we can. maids behaviour (as some will know from my thread on the maids forum) unacceptable and now deteriorated to the point where I have told her she has to go as I cannot tolerate her behaviour. I am too shaken up by todays developments to try and wade through all the previous posts and work it out! My husbands employer says we can't legally send her home and she has to have a months notice and can then stay in Dubai a further month after that. If we want to put her on a flight immediately how do we get a visa cancellation form? Can we just get one at the airport? Info in the FAQ says we need to get that before and take it to the airport. Would really appreciate your help ladies. Very simple your husband is the sponsor, take her to the airport make a cancellation at the airport, bye bye. Otherwise he can go to bin sougat and make the cancellation there. edited by Birchy on 22/05/2013 edited by Birchy on 22/05/2013

If you are looking at the new Emmar project in UAQ it is beautiful and there are some amazing ladies living there, the pools are good, the cafe is good, its secure, its quiet, the rent is cheap, there are some good schools in Sharjah that would take you 25 mins to reach, for me it is a no brainer.

Still smoke? Particularly beautiful young women? When they know how bad it is for their health and their looks? I've just been at the store and had to walk through a cloud of smoke and I can't believe that in this day and age, people are still taking up smoking!!! I smoke and it is a matter of habit to be honest with you :( for youngsters it is a matter of looking good in front of their peers or to rebel

You will struggle to find one for less than 100aed in albarsha, why not pop to satwa they will make one there for less, or you could go to the small shops in al barsha and see but I would doubt it :(

For me it would be very simple. Get all of the cancellation papers done, book the ticket, tell her you are going away for the weekend and you would like her to accompany her and drop her at the airport. This may seem harsh but from her actions it would appear that she is a nasty piece of work. the other option is that you cancel her and tell her that she is in a flight in x number of days, change the locks and hand the passport to the immigration. Oh and for the record, UAE Nationals also give our maids a day off :)

It would seem that the family is of UAE Nationality and if this is the case the contract is for a 2 year period and she has the right to place a ban if she does not complete the contract. Once a ban is in place there is no way of lifting the ban unless the sponsor agrees to it. With regret even the POLO office cannot assist. Thank you for your reply birchy! the family are European. Does this make a difference? She's worked so long for them and they just refuse to let her go. She is happy to work out her full contract but we suspect she's being tricked into another year. It's so terrible I just want to help her. edited by Ilovechoos on 05/05/2013 Expats are only allowed a 1 year contract so it would appear that the story is taking somewhat of a twist

He can work in a freezone with no issues, he can also get his certificates attested, if he can also prove that he was working prior to the time of the visa stamp they may also lift the ban.

Do you have to leave the country, or would the amnesty also apply if you get a new visa? My DH will overstay before getting his employment visa, due to a muck up with his passport, but its more than likely the new visa will be issued before the end of the amnesty:) If he has a new sponsor he would not have to leave the country he just needs it to be in process.

Thank you all.... I really don't want to go to the court, because at the end of the day, I haven't agreed to a divorce, it was only last Wednesday that he told me he was leaving a starting divorce proceedings. I didn't know that this Thursday was going to be the day to hand me my divorce papers and thats the end of my marriage, in just one week. He is so worried I skip the country too, and that I go back to the UK and scr*w him from there, sorry for the swear word! but it his words... How can I be going to court, when not one piece of paper has been sent to me, he has told me the date and time. I asked for the file case number on Thursday and he said, he doesn't have one.... I'm really scared, I am waiting to phone people but each hour is lost, sitting and waiting... But I would all like to thank you so much for all your support, it means so much, I feel pretty lonely, my family are so worried for me, being out here on my own with two children. thank you all so much, even some who are just sending hugs, everyone of them are a huge help... Thank you......xx Nippy Thursday will be an initial hearing only, you can contest this. i would go to the hearing and listen to what is said, do not agree to anything unless it is financially viable for you and your children, if I were in your shoes I would stay here, make him pay for a house, the school fees, and a monthly allowance but that it me :) You have to decide what you want and what is best for you and your children. Again if you want some more help I am happy to assist you xx

I have been through a divorce here in the Dubai courts, its not as simple as he thinks, you will go to the court and the judge will ask you various questions he simply cannot just divorce you like that, he will also ask about any financial arrangements, IF you both agree to the divorce you should bring the financial statement there and they stamp it in the court, in your case however OP they will not take kindly to the fact that he has cancelled your visa already and IF he has cancelled your visa he cannot put a travel ban on you. Also the divorce is not granted immediately you need to go back in approx 14 days. You can attend the immigration with your passport and tell them the situation they may well grant you an extension if he has cancelled your visas, I honestly would be very surprised if he has. I would do the following 1) get all of the valuables out of the house with immediate effect 2) get your hands on the passports 3) withdraw as much cash as you can on Credit cards and bank accounts 4) terminate any helpers in the house 5) search the house from top to bottom for any clues as to what is going on Take a step back I know this is a shock, but you need to be prepared to fight and also get your side of the story heard. There is allot of good advice on here but only you know what you want :) Big hugs and shout if you want to chat, am happy to go offline xx

Would love to see this documentary. My children will marry who they want to marry regardless of nationality, IMHO saying your child can only marry this or that is a form of racism. Also we know that at the end of the day it is not in our hands it is "naseeb". When I married my DH his family were shocked, they hated the fact that I was western, it took time but now they say we are glad he married you and not a national :) Times change and so do people, my youngest is only 6 so I may change my mind, the eldest is 18 and has just got engaged to a full UAE National. edited by Birchy on 16/12/2012

Hi, I am a Head of HR and to be honest most companies at the moment are not doing any seminars unless it is in house as it is the end of the year and budgets are thin on the ground. In respect to the other questions that you have asked, it is imperative that you think from A-Z as to the logistics and costs of such seminars. Lunch, coffee breaks, certificates of attendance all need to be thought out and planned, also you will need a trade license to be able to perform any kind of seminar. Output it very hard to measure in HR unless you are talking about recruitment etc. HTH

Dear all, just wondering about my labour contract (I am on a family visa). I will finish my first year soon and I am considering other offers, but...On termination, Second Party shall not be involved/work with any competitor of first party for a period of two years...how does it work? I am sure that my current employer will not do anything bad to me and of course I am not going to steal informations or doing other bad things; however I am not going to change field. Any informations are appreciated. Thanks Recently I attended the Dubai Labour Courts and they do not uphold a no compete clause in the contract, there is nothing that would stop you from working for a competitor. Please be aware though that your reputation could be harmed by this.

SS1979, if I said to you it was an easy road I would be lying, its not, it is very stressful and emotional and taxing on your body. The hardest part for me was the waiting for the eggs to get to the correct size, it was frustrating. The egg colelction is easy you are under GA and then the next day they will call and let you know how may have fertilized. Dr Wael is amazing and he was so kind to me yesterday when he did the transfer i cannot thank him and praise his staff enough.
