My helpers always send a box 1 month before they are going home, the cost is minimal to be honest for the amount they send and Im happy to pay for it, i do agree expecting someone to pay 75 aed per Kg is unreasonable.

Personally from my experience I would stay well clear of this situation - this happened to a very good friend of mine and the outcome was horrific, the husband of her friend hated her for telling his wife, her fried was angry as she had not told her straight away and in the end they ended up no longer friends a the couple in need felt they could no longer trust her ! Karma is a real B1tch and one day it will come back to bite with a vengeance, she will find out eventually and at that time you just need to be there to support her.

Gilly3 If i were you I would continue to be a friend and listen to her but the only person that can help her is herself. She has a few options available to her - the first being from what I understand to be the norm here in the UAE among local families is to approach his family and inform them of the situation, the second thing that she can do is go to the family guidance section of Dubai courts they will assist her in her rights. Please take care when try to help someone in this situation, nationals sometimes take offence when an outsider is involved.

Im 23 so not that long ago I was expected to do chores for pocket money. I was given equivelent to 15 dhs a week from 8-12 years old, then was expected to babysit or do extra extra chores (such as washing the car), to make any money i wanted to, meanwhile still doing my household contribution. from 8-12 I had to assist in the kitchen with dinner prep 2x a week, either unload/load the dishwasher or wash the pots and pans 2-3x a week, help clean my room every saturday, and help with my laundry. from 12 till i moved out i had to do full dinner making 2x a week, full dishes 2x a week, vaccuum and clean my room every saturday, and clean a bathroom in the house every saturday. I was supposed to mow the lawn 1x a month as well, but managed to cut the cord once so that was stopped :P I also had to dust the living room 1x a month, and do ALL my own laundry. If i didn't then no clean clothes! i feel that without this I wouldn't be a well rounded adult, and would have a lot of trouble balancing work, cleaning, occasional cooking, and taking care of my husband. Kudos to the moms who make their children do chores! I was exactly the same, and now when I look back I thank my parents for making me do this, my husband is used to having maids around him all the tine from a very young age and its only with Patience and persistence from my father that he has now learnt how to do the odd jobs around the house, my sister in law cannot cook, wash or iron and that's not something I want for my daughters. We are fortunate at this time that we have help in the house what would happen if we are not so fortunate and do not have that help later on, my daughter has to know how to help around the house.

My daughter is 8 almost 9 and we have a chore list and certain expectations that she has to comply with before she gets her pocket money, the chores mainly consist of making her bed, hanging out the washing, clearing the table and polishing the lounge, if she doesn't do it there is a deduction from her allowance. In regards to expectations, as I work I expect her to have had a shower by the time that I get home, her homework prepared for me to do with her, she has to be polite and considerate to the driver and nanny, go to bed on time and so on. This works for me but may not suit all, some of her friends are getting in excess of 1000aed A maid in the making - poor child..... As I said in my post what works for one child and family does not work for another, it was the way that I was raised and it has neither harmed me or my eldest daughter. My beautiful daughter also knows how to bake and cook and loves to spend time in the kitchen with me and outside "fixing" with her father, she is very much a child but responsibilities and the fact that money does not grow on trees needs to be taught to a child from a young age. Until you know my daughter or my family it would be best not to judge and as my mother always taught me if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. Have a lovely weekend xx

Hi there dont despair !! there is a great Doctor at Dubai Community Health his name is Dr Amer he is amazing and I cannot recommend him enough http://www.dubaicommunityhealthcentre.org/infopages.php?page=16 Birchy do you know of his costs? It's between 4 and 600 - depending on your circumstances - he's not particularly in it for the money and is willing to accommodate cases of people in genuine financial hardship Per session? Can it be put through insurance?! Although AXA are terrible, I will have to get a referral from a doctor to go and see one! No referral needed and yes you can claim through insurance, although it is on reimbursement basis. Dr Amr is amazing and I would not be here today if not for him, I have recommended a number of people who have been seen by him also and they also cannot fault him.

Hello I'm trying to obtain a trading licence for our amateur sports club and we need an emirati sponsor. We're approaching a few members of our club who are willing to sponsor us without any payment for themselves, but they want to know their obligations. We literally just want a name on the trade licence, we are not making profit, but at the same time want to ensure they are not liable and have no obligations as they don't want hassle. Can someone point me in the right direction as to how this can be done? So difficult to find appropriate official info. Someone mentioned to me that they can have a power of attorney to remove them from any liabilities/obligations, is this true? Thanks for your help Hi there, This kind of sponsorship that you are looking for is called "Whakeel Kadamat" it basically means that they have no authority or obligations in the bank however from what I am aware they would still have to sign for the immigration or Labor unless they give you a POA. Under such an agreement should the business go wrong financially the National would not be held responsible for this. If in Doubt you can check with the Chamber of Commerce in Deira. Sharoniouz, we are not all as bad as you think and some of us are kind enough to help our friends !

Hi everyone. I have made the "drastic" decision to seek help beyond the many failed diets and workouts i have endured over the past 9 years! Many options are available these days but i am curious to hear your experience- anyone had one of these before? 1. Gastric bypass surgery- with the high death rate {it seems high} i am afraid but it is still an option- i weigh 115kg and can barely walk! i have tried EVERYTHING in terms of dieting and fitness plans but nothing works... 2. Lapband- is this safer that Gastric bypass? what have your experiences been after doing the surgery non surgical options a.) The gastric Balloon- inserted through the mouth under mind sedation *b.) OBALON Balloon pill!!! Im most excited about this one! anyone tried it? DOES IT WORK? the Obalon pill is a balloon in a capsule the size of a vitamin pill which you drink with water and it balloons up in your stomach giving the illusion of being full- the balloon is removed after 3 months and you can have up to 3 balloons inserted at a time {based on the videos i have seen} very curious to know if its available in UAE and who has done it! I know many of you ladies will tell me to diet and exercise- i have tried that for near 10 years...its not working for me. Surgery has always been my "last resort" and i have reached there now- its time for change! Hi there. I was 110Kg and 5ft 10 inches I desperately wanted to loose weight, I had tried all the diets and training but nothing was working, I was unhappy and very grouchy. I researched all of the options available to me and finally decided on the right operation for me. From my research I found out the following : 1) The gastric band is great but you continually have to keep having it tightened or loosened to match your weight and lifestyle and the risks associated with this are that the band can slip and cause huge complications. 2) The bypass surgery didn't suit me as I was not that obese I opted to have the gastric sleeve where they removed 85% of my stomach and stapled it closed again, I have to say that it was not an easy operation and there are times when I think why on earth did I go through with it, I was very fortunate that I had gone on a liver reducing size diet prior to the operation and this allowed me to have a keyhole operation with only 4 incisions rather than the 6, I was out of bed and walking the next day. For the first month you are on a clear liquid diet only and this is very hard, after that you go onto semi hard food almost like baby food. If you are not prepared to change the way that you eat and drink this for sure wont work for you. I no longer eat sugar, lamb, bread or potatoes in any large quantities, I do not have caffeine at all and have to think 3 times before I eat anything. You have to research fully what diet or operation best suits your lifestyle and ensure that you are mentally prepared for the operation as it is one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life. Given all of the above do I regret it now NO not at all, there is a sadness that I can no longer stomach the foods that I used to love and there is an element of regret when you see your favorite food and you can only eat 2-3 spoons of it. I have lost in excess of 34kg in 5 months I take vitamins every day and have been left with excess skin that needs to be surgically removed - its not something that you do on a whim this is a life changing decision and only you can answer if you are ready for it. I wish you all the very best of luck with your decision ccc

I don't see why anyone should be so offended by it.They do it to everyone entering the supermarket so nobody gets singled out. If it's such a problem there are many other supermarkets in Dubai. I'm offended by the whole policy and have a right to be. They wont do it to everyone. Do you think if a local man or woman in national dress walked in and they refused to have their bags stapled and kicked up a right stink about it - the security would insist and refuse them entry?! Hmmmm doubt it! Actually they do, my DH tried it once with a hallmark bag and they wouldn't let him in they made him leave it with customer service!

Having been through numerous rounds of IVF i would say that you go where you are most comfortable, I went to Dr Fakhi and didn't gel well with him at all, it all felt very clinical and a money pit rather than anything else. I went to Dubai Fertility Clinic and met Dr Wael, he had excellent feedback and a good success rate however after 3 rounds we gave up. It is a very personal thing and only you will know where you will feel comfortable, I wish you all the very best of luck xxxx

Stix, I am really sorry about what has happened with your husband however, let me clarify something, there is no such thing as an automatic pink slip when you have an accident with a local. If may I would like to give you some advice, as your husband informed the police about the accident and they know that the local is to blame then they will fine him guilty not only for causing an accident but also for fleeing the scene he may also be fined for not appearing at the police station as requested. Please do no think that there is one rule for expats and another for locals, the days of wasta are long long gone and believe me when I say we locals also suffer sometimes imagine trying to rent a house as a local but being told it is for expats only.

HI Ladies! I finally found a decent place! I went to a clinic in JLT called La Clinique The doctor is American, his name is Dr. Michael Robertson and I believe the clinic is ran by a French guy. I paid around 500AED for 20 units. He charges per unit instead of per area so it makes it more affordable. Now, I have to say that I definitely noticed better results when I had botox done in the US. But this will do for now. He suggested only using 8 units.... which kind of threw me off so I ended up having to return the following week and having him do 20 units but it all worked out. I told the French guy that I will post the clinic info on here as long as he promises not to increase prices. Sorry but this doctor is awful ! i used him once and will never return, his botox is watered down and so is the filler he used on my lips, it lasted 1 week and that was it, his excuse when I asked him about it was that I smoked !! yet now i have been to another clinic and they are amazing expensive yes but amazing.

I completed my first round of IVF with Dr Wael at DGFC in January which unfortunately wasn't successful. The clinic is very much a 'locals' clinic where appointment times don't really mean anything and the phone is never answered however when you do meet the staff they are friendly. Prepare to have to wait for ultrasound scans as it generally works on a 'first come, first served' basis. Dr Wael explains everything in great detail and came in on his day off to do the embryo transfer. We plan to try again after the summer with Dr Wael. I did go to Dr Fakih originally and saw Dr Ghina but I felt that it was too much of a cattle market and there was absolutely no Dr/Patient relationship. The price for IVF at DGFC and Fakih is about the same of 30,000DHS (all in). Wishing you lots of luck whichever clinic you decide. Fakhi offer a 40,000.00aed package for up to 3 tries and if it still doesnt work they will refund the money

I share your feelings on Fakhi i would never ever go there I went for the consultation and felt it was a money pit. I did go through with 2 rounds of treatment at DGFC and neither were successful, they are disorganised, expensive and I was personally very upset with the way that I was treated when it came to the implantation of fertilised eggs, they made the decision that they only wanted to place one egg when 3 had fertilised, they didnt tell me this until after the implantation was made ! Am happy to sahre more details but would prefer to do so in private :) Birchy, i would really appreciate more feedback as my DH is not too keen on IVF as it is in his eyes unnatural. He agreed to a consultation with a specialist. I need to make sure to chose a clinic which will not destroy the little bit of hope I have that DH will indeed agree to go through with the treatment. Please contact me under username at gmail edited by starfishalicja on 11/05/2014 Bump for Birchy, I'd love to hear from you please You have mail :)

As I am new to this and early in my research I am wondering if the 30K is for each and every try or do they freeze the fertilized eggs (embryos) and transplant several times until success or there is no more? I'm scared of the cost :-( Freezing of fertilised embryos is now illegal in Dubai,

The nissan and landcruiser have been without a doubt the best, I love my Nissan BUT it does drink fuel, saying that my friend has just got the smaller engine model and the fuel consumption is considerably less, both the nissan and landcruiser have excellent resale value and would whole heartedly reccomend either.

I would advise her to contact the consulate Address: Street No.2A Al Mina Rd - Dubai Phone:04 398 5666 If she cannot get through then she needs to head to the immigration department in Dubai and explain the whole situation, give her the advise but stay out of it at sometimes there is more than one side to the story.

Deise, Having been through what you are going through right now, please take some wise advise from someone who learnt the hard way. While you are snooping on him as you put it, all thoughts and situations are going through your mind that will lead you to beleive he is having an affair even if he is not, our minds play these kind of tricks on us and it just makes us the bitter twisted and hurt ones whilst the men have no idea. I confronted my DH in a very forcefull way and this made the whole situation worse that it should have been. You need to decide before you confront your husband what course of action you will take IF he is having an affair and what course of action he may take to discover that his wife has been mistrusting him IF he isnt having an affair. After you have done this make a special meal and sit with him, tell him from your heart what you feel, dont admit that you have been snooping tell him it is a woman instinct, for me knowing the truth was more important than revenge. I really hope you can work through this xx

Hi Friends, Me and my partner have newly registered a small 3 visa firm in SAIF Zone on 50-50 share basis. I have a couple of questions and would really appreciate your answers. Currently I have obtained the below documents and cards after registering this firm. Can you kindly suggest if I have missed out anything else? A. Trade license copy B. Company Immigration card copy C. Permanent SAIF Zone id card D. Residency Visa stamped in passport and Emirated Id obtained. E. Health Card G. Memorandum Copy H. Tenancy Contract Copy Doubt #1 : Is SAIF zone id card the equivalent of labour card? I am an investor and how exactly a labour card can be obtained? Doubt #2 : Original share certificate - I heard somewhere that original share certificate will be given to investors and will be needed for share transfer in case I wanted to move out of the firm if business gets dull. Is a separate original share certificate also given to each share holder in SAIF Zone? I already have a copy of the memorandum that states me as 50% share holder. Thanks in advance for your help !!! Ameena, SAIF zone has its own MOL internally, they do not give the standard labour card, the card that they have issued to you is the equivelent to a labour card from the Ministry of Labour. The memorandum is the same thing, if you are in doubt may I suggest that you visit the administration offices in the SAIF zone and they will explain more clearly for you.

Here is the one I use at home A much heavier soup, this is particularly satisfying during the winter months and an ideal dish for Ramadan. Extra spices may be added to give more flavour and it should be served with sliced limes and perhaps croutons. 1 cup red lentils 1/4 cup rice 6 cups water 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin 1 medium onion 2 garlic cloves TO GARNISH: 1 medium onion sliced 1/4 cup corn oil 1/2 cup parsley Wash the lentils and rice. Chop onion finely and crush the garlic. Combine all ingredients in a soup pot cind boil gently for 1 to 11/2 hrs. When done, remove from heat, leave to cool slightly then puree in the blender. For garnish: Brown the onion in the oil and add to soup mixture. Sprinkle chopped parsley over the soup and serve immediately.
