Hi I am looking for a personal trainer to come to my home two mornings a week before work to train me. I had a personal trainer when i was preparing for my wedding but after i paid him upfront he hardly showed up for the training sessions. If i am going to be getting up at 5.30am i want to make sure the trainer will actually show up. I am going on my honeymoon at the end of July and really want to be looking my best. Can anybody reccomend a reliable one? Thanks

I bought the voucher a couple of months ago from Groupon. The salon seemed really unorganised and in actual fact didnt really look like a salon. For the mani and pedi's you cant have french as they didnt have the colours for it, when i went......For a salon in the Burj Al Arab you expect a luxourious salon but it really isnt. It is cramped into a small place and i left really stressed as i had spent 5 hours in there. You dont leave with the after salon experience you should get when you leave a hairdressers. The hair stylist was also an hour late for my appointment and didnt even apologise. I am not sure if these problems were teething problems as the salon has just opened so maybe it is better now. edited by Bracey777 on 26/04/2012

why not try the four hour body diet. Both me and DH have been doing it for a month. DH has lost a stone and i have lost about 4KGS...it is great because you dont eat any carbs such as bread, pasta, potatos or rice etc and no fruit or fruit juices. No diary apart from eggs for 6 days but on the 7th day you have a cheat day where you can eat anything you like. It is just a high protein diet where you are recommended to have beans with most meals if you can manage it. Believe me I have tried every diet going even Cambridge where i lost about 2 stone but gradually put a stone back on over time. This diet is really great. Sure you can buy the book in Dubai Same as Dukan and Atkins really :-) Same Same but different.....the theory is slightly different and you cant have a lot of diary....I am not sure you get a cheat day on the Atkins diet correct me though if i am wrong edited by Bracey777 on 24/04/2012 edited by Bracey777 on 24/04/2012

i feel your pain. We have only been back once as a holiday in four years and to be honest that was enough. I somehow managed to upset my SIL and my parents because neither were satisfied with the amount of time we spent with them. We were home for 10 days and spent the whole time travelling up and down the country visiting family and friends. When we boarded the flight to come back to Dubai we were both relieved and exhausted.....i then arrived back to a lovely email from one of DH family to say i was apparantly more interested in shopping than spending time with them...i had one shopping day!!!! We also experienced all our family come out to Dubai last year for our wedding and it seemed to work much better everyone was much calmer as we could do everything altogether. We had a great time and i was so sad when they left but of course there was some small arguements along the way....

And by the way, "I am 5’ 2 inches and 57 kgs" - that is not overweight! Maybe you do need to tone up if that is the case, start Pilates, that is all about toning up your body the right way! i am also 5' 2 inches and i am 60 Kgs .....i dont feel overweight although i do now. Do some gym classes or go running in the evenings. When you have some confidence in yourself you will feel better i am sure of it as you have been through a lot recently. Confidence is key for any woman to feel good about themselves......

Bracey777, thank you so much for your reply! That time we paid 2% to land department (i have just checked the receipt), for registration with Land Department, the 2% transfer fee was paid by the original seller to the Developer beside our payment to LD. And that is why i am totally confused now as of why we need to pay 2% again :( Which developer is it? Is it a pre-registered property (i think most of them on the Palm Jumeirah are pre registered)... Do you have a mortgage on the property? I only ask because you could approach the bank for advice. Normally the fees would be when you apply for a title deed 2% of the original selling price (or in some cases it is 1.5%) listed on the sales and purchase agreement and if the property is mortgage .25% of the mortgage amount. also i know of some cases where the buyer had to pay 2% of the market value as well as the seller paying 2% of the Sales and Purchase Agreement Did you pay by cheque? If so was the cheque made payable to Dubai Lands Department. Did you visit Dubai Lands Department in Deira to sign the Title Deed? When did you buy the property? This will help me find out which fees were payable at the time you bought Sorry without knowing more i cannot really advise hope i am not being intusive asking these questions

Hi Saba Did you pay 2% to the developer or to the Lands Department. I believe the 2% at the time of the purchase is to complete the transfer of ownership at the developers office. Now every property in Dubai should have title deeds you have to now pay 2% to the Lands Department to have the property registered there and for the title deed. I used to work for a bank ensuring securities were perfected on mortgaged properties but that was about three years ago so it may have changed. I hope this helps

Thanks Bracey777, think I'm gonna need all the fb friends I can find lol. Looking forward to meeting your Husky I thought there were one of the banned breeds for flying over - don't understand why cos all the Huskys I've met are beautiful with kind temperments. Magyere - I'm in a one bed and its perfect for the 3 of us (2 people 1 dog) they are doing some landscape work at the back and seem to be progressing well so hopefully won't be too long before its finished. Its about a 10 min drive to Spinneys and as I don't have a car at the mo is a bit of a pain as the taxis tend to get lost around here. Apart from that, I'm loving it but have only been here 3 weeks! Believe I should hit the doldrums in a couple of months so will need to make sure I get plenty of grape juice in for when that happens. My husky is a x and is a rescue dog from K9 friends. He is gorgeous though and very friendly. He loves to play....I dont drive either in JVT and taxi's can be a bit of a nightmare....

if you want a great thai place to eat go to cabbages and condoms...the food is great there http://www.cabbagesandcondoms.com/index.php in Phuket make sure you go to the Dino Bar one evening it is in Kata. Every evening about 7 to 7.30 they bring two elephants there and your children can buy a bag of bananas from the guy who looks after them and feed them. There is also crazy golf at the Dino bar too. I am so jealous i have to wait a few more weeks before i can go

A small, inexpensive wedding can be done. We had 15 people in January, and kept the costs to about 2000dhs, including taking our guests around for the week they were here. My experience was that as soon as you say wedding, dollar signs appear in their eyes and everything is 3 times the price. The Polo club does a good large group package, as does the Fairmont, and the Kris Kin if you are interested in hotels. We had our reception at Azur, in the Marina Marriott. Lovely venue with great views and very helpful staff, who can also cater to food intolerances. Was so fed up after calling nearly everyone in Dubai that I started saying it was a family reunion rather than a wedding- the same food, drink and table caterings price dropped substantially. Thanks Elle - appreciate it. Thing is, we are having around 85 - 90 guests, and since a lot of them will be flying in from the UK, I wanted to have a big outdoor wedding in a resort. Don't think I can get away with saying its anything but, if we are having the flower arch, ceremony etc. I agree its ridiculous - they double the prices for things like hair, flowers, makeup etc as soon as they know but what to do? I have asked for sparkling wine now, not champagne, and will see what I can do on the flower front. Also - not paying for kids under 5 who will eat 2 chips and a chicken nugget! I think Dubai is overall more flexible so going to check out Al Qasr and ONe n only... Hi if you want me to pass on any of my contacts i used i can. I really cut down on the flowers in the end because the locations in Dubai are so beautiful anyway i dont think you need a lot. I used had a bouquet for me and my bridesmaids and the groomsmen....

Have looked for the JVT facebook page but cant see anything other than a like page with no people on it. What is the search term please? They have started planting twigs in District 2 but guess something is better than nothing. they have put lots of palm trees in District 5 and 8 i think along what will become the main roads...They are also working on the parks as well. You need someone to add you to the JVT facebook page i can add you if you like but we will need to make friends on facebook and then you can block me if you like when i add you. Hi Dangerous Blonde - i got married in Dubai in November. I had about 60 guests in the day. The wedding did cost us a fortune but was worth every minute. Alcohol is really expensive but why not have a drinks package instead of the champagne as this is what i did and helped to reduce the price. I also organised a lot of things myself so saved money there. 100K for 80 guests is a good budget. For the flowers i actually arranged for them to be delivered on the morning of the wedding and my mum tied some ribbon around them and they looked amazing......the shops wanted to charge me about 10K too for a wedding bouquet. In the evening i had a cash bar as well. I also know a great make up artist who was one of the cheapest i tried but also the best. She was the only one who didnt make me look like a drag queen with heavy eye make up. I know a great hairdresser too.... Hope this helps edited by Bracey777 on 26/03/2012

hi Lauren As some of the ladies have mentioned below if you are both Christian you can only legally get married in a church in Dubai. I know because i have recently done it. The church tends to require you both to go to some marriage prep classes before your wedding date. The paperwork here isnt too bad you both need your birth certificates for your partner it needs to be the long form UK Birth Certificate. You both then need to visit the British Embassy in Dubai to either post your bands (i had to do this as we were both British) or i think if you are south african your boyfriend needs to obtain a letter from the embassy. You give this to the church and they will arrange the rest. i am not sure what the South African Embassy requires you to do. We got married at Christ Church in Jebel Ali and they were really great. They sorted all the paperwork out afterwards and had it all translated and stamped by the relevant people. I hope this helps

I am in district 4 too and they are currently building a park next to my house. They are working on it constantly as i get 7am wake up calls on the weekend from the noise. I dont mind though i cant wait for there to be a park. When i was walking my dog the other day in district 5 i think i saw some men constructing a wooden hut like thing. When i asked what it was they told me a coffee shop....hopefully it will sell some grocercies too. We also have some friends in the area which makes it really nice to live there. I also find people are all really friendly there.

This is my mum's receipe Welsh Cakes Recipe 8 oz/ 225g self rising flour 4 oz/ 100g butter 1 tsp mixed spice 3 oz/ 75g fine or caster sugar 3 oz/75g mixed currants and sultanas A pinch salt Rind of half a lemon, grated 1 large egg, beaten A little milk to blend if necessary Sieve the flour, salt and spice into a mixing bowl. Rub in the fats until the mixture looks like fine breadcrumbs. Add the sugar, lemon rind and dried fruit. Pour in the beaten egg and stir to make a firm dough, add a tiny dash of milk should the dough be too dry. Add a tiny amount at a time to prevent creating a sloppy dough. On a floured board, roll or press the dough to approximately 1/4"/5mm thick, approx the thickness of the little finger. Cut into discs with a 1 1/2" or 2" /4 or 5 cm cutter. Or, cut into squares. Bake the Welsh Cakes on a medium hot griddle, for approx 3 mins per side turning once, until golden brown on both sides but still a little soft in the middle. Dust with fine/caster sugar while still hot. If you do not have a griddle use a lightly buttered heavy base frying pan. Welsh cakes are best eaten while hot but will keep for up to 10 days in an airtight container. You can also serve them with lightly whipped fresh cream and preserves.

I have a friend getting married in Dubai who is considering a wedding planner as she has a very demanding job. Just wondering if anyone can recommend someone in Dubai? & a rough idea on their charges? She's looking at later this year so still a bit of time to get things organized! TIA If your friend is getting married in a hotel they generally do everything for you. I also worked full time and studied whilst planning my wedding last year and i have to say the hotel were amazing. They did everything i asked and did any outsourcing required. Most of the things you do yourself are the fun things and the hotel does everything else. HTH
