For compliance reasons certain if not all senior management jobs require a degree. As far as i am aware in Dubai there is no way around it, degrees i find are important here. If he has any other qualifications in his specific field this usually helps

Thanks Bracey. Our cat is a neutered male. The other cat does not seem to be a stray but is very nasty and any time I try to go near it, it hisses at me and gives me dirty looks :) Although Im sure I would do that too to anyone who consistently threw water at it :) We never put food in the garden - we are very careful about that as we dont want to attract anything else into the garden but the water just does not seem to be working.... I had the same problem with another cat where i live, i have two cats and a dog and this didnt phase the other cat. So i throw water over it everytime i saw him come into my garden it took a while but eventually he got the message.

my friends cat was one of the cats who was shot by teenagers in the springs...really horrible how anyone could do that. Does this cat look like a stray? Is your cat a female? If the male cat has not been done this could be a contributing factor. If you leave any cat food in the garden this may be why he comes in as well. I would continue with throwing some water on it, if you consistantly do it he will soon go away. hope this helps <em>edited by Bracey777 on 14/12/2011</em>

This makes me so angry it really does. I have a husky x which is a rescue dog from K9 friends...in the summer months he cant bare to go outside in the day...i have to wait until at least 10pm at night to walk him to make it bearable for him.. On the weekend i saw two husky puppies being walked in JBR as well they were gorgeous but this isnt their natural habitat it so so cruel to bring them here. My dream is one day to take my dog back to his natural habit somewhere snowy... <em>edited by Bracey777 on 14/12/2011</em>

Hi I buy a lot of my clothes from ASOS and they ship within 2 weeks to my PO BOX address. The quality of the clothes is really good and cheaper than buying here. I have never returned anything though sorry....

Ahh leave him alone 3 suits that fit, he did ok and even got a couple ties and a jacket. He won't need to buy another suit for a couple years unless they fall to bits. ;) I agree...if he is happy and they fit properly then leave him be. He will be more aware in the future....of these scams and it is a lesson learnt

thanks Pollydxb i thought that might be the case. I just wanted to check if there was a way you could just sit a test if you can evidence you have had all the lessons. I work full time as well so it would be difficult to schedule all the lessons as well as the expense of paying for another 40 lessons.

When i was a teenager i was so messy, i even resorted to create a walkway to my bed at one point. Nothing my parents did helped. Even when it was cleaned it would be a mess again the next day. However when i left home and had my own flat and let every room get messy i soon learnt to tidy up after myself....i am now very tidy but it may have something to do with being married to a bit of a clean freak...I think arohadxb is right it is just a natural thing for some people....i liked to think i grew out of it so sure your 13 year old will too :)

WM and DI i am so sorry to hear that and i hope your both okay. Can i ask what area you live in? I only ask because last night DH was out and someone came into my house downstairs i thought it was DH but he was still the other side of Dubai. I didnt go straight downstairs as i assumed it was DH when i went downstairs the person seemed to have left....I heard someone rattling around in the Kitchen and the dog was barking the whole thing has left me really uneasy....DH thinks i imagined the whole thing and it was probably the tele or something.... <em>edited by Bracey777 on 16/08/2011</em>

Hi - sorry i dont know anyone to recommend but just a heads up be careful who you choose they charge so much and mostly want you to pay for an assessment before they will start the training which i found was a complete waste of money. In the end I started watching the dog whisperer to get some tips and bought a book and it worked a treat.

why dont you ask the Landlord to reimburse you half or more of the DEWA bill until it is fixed. I think i have previously said my bills at the moment in JVT is about AED 1800. I dont know what to suggest to you with 4 dogs the villas in JVT are perfect because the gardens are so big...i hope you manage to sort it. A few of my friends live there and their bills are the same as mine x <em>edited by Bracey777 on 11/08/2011</em>

Hi Ange74 I have a big garden too which does get watered everyday for a long time especially the grass. We have turned off section 3 upstairs and a section downstairs which controls the fans ie bathroom, cooker fan. I keep the AC off during the day whilst i am at work execpt in the maids room where the dog is. My ac is on all night in my bedroom whilst we are asleep and i keep it on downstairs in both the kitchen and lounge when we are at home but turn it off before we go to bed. I also keep mine on auto. Perhaps this first bill is incorrect and a one off and hopefully the rest will be much lower. I wass talking to my fiance last night and he reminded me when we moved in our first bill was 2000 and that was in November time since then they have gone down. Let me know if i can be of anymore help.

did you turn off section three upstairs and downstairs? We have turned both of them off and i know it made a big difference. Did you read the meter before you moved in so you can compare if the previous tenants owe anything.

Hi my bill has increased dramatically this month from 700 last month to 1700 most of it is all electricity. We both work full time and we are never at home so i am shocked it is this much. I dont leave the AC on whilst i am there and it is only on in the bedroom over night i just dont get how my bill is so high. If i got a 5000 bill i would definitely move....i am convinced they make up the prices.

Hi Ladies, thanks for all your lovely and helpful comments. To update you - I've just met up with the ex-husband and he's come over to the house to spend the evening with them and hopefully moving back in tomorrow night - FINGERS CROSSED. I shared the same thought as many of you - is she going to come back? As for lack of money causing the situation - she's gone to the Maldives for a month to be with her new lover. However, she just lost her job 10 days ago - how do you explain that! Bracey 777 - thanks for your dog walking offer - I do actually live in JVT and have 3 Dalmatians myself. Usually out under the power cables with them in the mornings from about 5.30am (because I work). What dog have you got - maybe we know each other can catch up for dog walking sometime - althought probably restricted to weekends as my mornings are so early. I probably sound rotten saying I won't walk them, but I'm usually out for about andhour and quarter with mine as it is and I can't manage five dogs on my own. Kelly9 - I'l let the ex-husband know that you would be willing to rehome if he can't guarantee to look after them - that is just so kind of you. Part of me hopes it won't come to that, but the other part of me is scared about what could happen next time if she keeps them. I will keep you updated on developments. hi pretty in pink i would love to meet up. I actually have a husky x dog which i got from K9 friends. I am in District 4 and again work full time so normally out for a quick walk at 5.30am in my district then a longer walk when i get home from work about 7pm. If it helps my dog is very good with other dogs so maybe i could walk the beagles in the evenings with my dog. I am away this weekend but would love to meet up maybe one night next week or next weekend. Maybe you could text me when is convenient to you. ps...i was originally looking for a dalmation dog so would love to see yours as they are my favourite breed. x <em>edited by Bracey777 on 31/07/2011</em>

the only advice i would give was i ended up buying lots of things which weren't very expensive say under AED 200 in the UK and having them shipped as it was cheaper than buying them in Dubai however after i had paid the postage the amount worked out the same as it would have been to buy in Dubai. Having said this it is a great service.

otherwise, I know a fantastic MUA here, by the name of Gulnaz, I can also give you her contact- not sure of her prices though and I dont think she does hair. AND- I also know of an incredible hair artist who I used to work with in Montreal. She currently lives in Lebanon but she travels to Dubai quite often, and for her service and quality of work- she very worth her price- which is not much. Cleo i have sent you an email i have lost your mobile number as had to replace my phone after the dog chewed it up this morning!

I find it amazing the number of people who think its the norm to have a free bar all night at a British wedding?! I've never been to a wedding with free drinks (alcoholic or soft) all night. Champagne (or mulled wine in my case as it was near Christmas) on arrival, unlimited wine and soft drinks with the meal, and a toast drink yes, but never in the evening! Maybe its a north/south divide thing? I'm Mancunian, so maybe down south its normal? Ha ha that must be it because I am also a Northerner too! I am a southern and its not normal down south either

At our wedding we provided champagne and wine for the meal and then put money behind the bar and said when that ran out then people would have to buy their own. Luckily it didn't run out, but if it had of done, I would have been very upset that people thought we were "cheap, tacky, rude or crass" because we didn't pay for every single drink. Our friends came to celebrate our marriage, not for a free booze-up... If I go to a wedding it's because I want to celebrate with the happy couple and couldn't care less if it's a cash bar or free, I would rather go and pay for my own drinks if it means I can share their day with them. I personally think, especially in this day and age, that if free booze is that important that you feel it's rude of the couple not to pay for it, then you've really missed the point of the occasion! Just my humble opinion though. Totally agree

No. Cash. Bar. Ever. :-) Really, even the Royal Wedding had a cash bar http://www.smew.com/index.php/all-feed/item/1733-royal-wedding-to-implement-cash-bar?tmpl=component&print=1 “beer, wine, and spirits available for an additional charge." Exactly perfectly acceptable for the evening

I know...I would be mortified if I showed up at a wedding and I had to pay for drinks. I'd rather it were a dry wedding if they can't afford alcohol. Having said, that I guess it depends on the guests' drinking habits...if it's a group that is well known for their huge consumption capabilities I might consider a compromise (eg cash bar after a ceratin time or only for some types of drinks). I am getting married in Dubai in November and i have paid for drinks throughout the day and put money behind the bar once that is gone people can buy their own drinks. I dont think its a case of people cant afford to buy alcohol.... people would prefer to keep some of their savings... In the UK it is common for there to be a cash bar in the evening and i have been to lots of weddings in Dubai where there is a cash bar in the evening too...i think it is perfectly exceptable... <em>edited by Bracey777 on 16/06/2011</em>

Thank you for the clarification i was getting anxious that i have been misinformed by them. It is so annoying this is the case. I have had real difficulty in contacting the churches and finding someone to marry us legally as none of us are christened. Hmmm I also emailed the church last week and you've just reminded me - I haven't heard back from them! I emailed a couple about three weeks ago and not one has responded to me so i also need to follow it up Sounds like we're in the same boat then! Ladies i had the same problem and in the end could not do with the extra stress of coordinating all of this. in the end i booked a fab 2 week honeymoon in Mauritius for this Sept and we are also having an outdoor civil wedding there (not a beach wedding). i have not had to lift a finger with the arrangments all done for me which is exactly what i wanted. only immediate family will be attending and we get a fab lux holiday too with the money that it would of cost us to spend on blessings and receptions . Originally my heart was set on Dubai but that soon changed. Wow Mauritius was on my list as well. We had a really bad experience. We original booked our wedding at another hotel and they actually cancelled our wedding booking as the owner wanted his own event there. As our date is popular there was only two hotels i could find willing to accomodate us and they were more expensive. I am really happy with our new hotel now but if i was to do it over again i am not sure if i would choose Dubai. It seems we have a lot in common Suzy both live in JVT with dog(s) and are both getting married! Ha! i know! I chuckled to myself throughout today seeing your / my posts and thinking how canny is that! You would think neither of us had anything better to do today lol! I am even actually in work! lol! :) Me too! oops
