Hi, Thanks for the answer, my kids go to EIS in Jumeirah. I know there is a bus in Ranches and also in Layan. We will check on Sunday anyway with the transport company. I was in the area last Sunday and there was still a lot of work going on, is it fine or too much?

Dear ladies, I am moving very soon and I am almost sure there won't be people for some time in the villa, so I am very concerned about my garden. I would like to remove my plants and try to relocate them to my new villa. Has anybody done that before who could provide information or numbers of gardeners who could do that? I don't have many plants, a dozen of small trees only, but I would not like to leave them to die. I am in Al Furjan area. If anybody could recommend a service, it would be great!

Hi, Anybody is actually living there? I will move on first week of February and was wondering if there is any school bus working in the area for reference. I am also very curious about how the actual move went as the area is sort of car restricted. Has anybody who moved already could tell a bit about the experience? Thanks!

Hi, Happy new year to all! I am moving to phase 2 of Sustainable city at the end of the month and was informed that some families have already moved. The area still looks a bit desolated and I was wondering if someone is already living there to provide some insight. Thanks in advance!

Both my kids started day care around 5 months old back in my home country. I was lucky enough that my company had it own day care until kids were at age of 4. My kids loved it since the beginning, made lot of friends, were fully prepared for school when the time came. They fell ill once in a while, but never anything serious, they are very strong girls and I believe it is partially for being in contact with so many bugs during early age. :-) After 1 year old I can count on one hand how many times they got sick and they are 11 and 9 now. I never wanted a nanny, first because I had this great day care facility and could visit the girls any time of the day, second I never thought it was good to stay at home all day, even a good nanny would be out of options to play or entertain a child after some time. I also got an example in my family, my SIL decided to have a nanny until her kids were ready for school and I can tell you her kids were sick much more than mine, specially after they started school at the age of 3, they got sick frequently and some serious episodes, that my kids never had. She has a great nanny, concerned about education and so, but I have a feeling that the contact with other kids is very important, kids learn how to be independent in the day care, how to interact with other kids, how to wait for their turn for things like play, toys, etc. I am not sure about day care here, but if I had another kid (not in the cards for me) I would definitely choose the day care option.

Hi kewlzany, I received the same email as you, actually I believe we went to the consulate on the same day. Who should I call? There is a number for the consulate, but they are not very helpful, they say check the website. I will pick up in a couple of days, but if you could confirm if the passport was available when you picked it up I would really appreciate.

Hi, When I was 6 months pregnant one of my cavity cap fell. I went to the dentist and she said it was not advisable to fix it, but she cleaned and put a temporary solution on until I had the baby. She said that I could come back if it fell again. Luckily it hold for 5 more months. I carried out the procedure and it was ok, but the cleaning and cover while I was pregnant were done without anesthesia, it was not pleasant, but pretty bearable. Ask if it is a possibility.

I live in Al furjan since January, we are 5 and occasionally a visitor like now. My highest DEWA bill including house fees was 1380 in July so far. A/C on all the time, lots of showers a day and watering the plants once a day, I don't have grass. The lowest was 890 in March without visitors and almost no A/C on. It was more or less what I was paying for a 3brd apartment in Marina. My cooker is electric, so I don't have gas bill. About the dishwasher, I don't have one, but the Nahkeel guys fixed the problem for me, as I asked when I moved without any charge.

Hi, A couple of weeks ago I noticed a strange expense in my company credit card, I contacted them and they opened a file for fraud, they sent me a file to start the case and this form had several possible case types, one of them was service purchased but not received. It was not my case, my case was a service I did not purchase or was aware, but if the option existed is because at least this credit card company investigates it. Read your contract, I received one for this credit card and I know the website also has it, you can get more information. BTW, this credit card is not the brand you mentioned, only to clarify.

Hi, I have one of my DDs in GCS and I also live in Al Furjan for the last 6 months. AboutGCS I will be very straight forward, it is a school with a lot of issues and the quality went downhill for the last 2 years. I enrolled my DD in 2010 out of options as she had 0 English at the time, it was mid school year and I could not find another school who would accept her at the time apart from Raffles, that I had some bad reviews from some people I met, so we decided for GCS. The first school year was ok, so we decided to keep her there, as the move was traumatic enough. But the second year I did not like at all, I did not like the teacher, and the quality of the school seemed to not be improving, the assessment proved my point, as the school is Satisfactory for the last two years. I compare a lot with my other DD school and I feel the difference, it is not a strong school, so if you are expecting a lot of homework and challenging your kid it is not the right place. I am trying to find a new school to my DD at the moment, but I was not very successful find one with more or less the same curriculum, same price zone and not so far from us, but As a mother with a Kid in this school for almost 3 years I recommend your to have options.

Hi, as I had very bad experience with morning, actually all day and night sickness I can tell you your baby is safe, actually my doctor said that the baby couldn't be safer, as the sickness is a symptom your body is producing a lot of pregnancy hormones... not sure, as I felt awful for months, lost almost 10 kg during my first pregnancy and had to stay in the hospital for weeks, but my case was extreme. You need to keep yourself hydrated all the time, as it is not unlikely that you get dehydrated due to throw up too much. Find something that tastes nice, whatever it is and eat this all the time, I spent more than a week eating only lemon ice cream and my two babies (had it during both pregnancies) were born very healthy. Only observe your body and look for help if you feel it is out of control. I used to feel dizzy all the time and wasn't able to drink or eat almost anything. Hang in there, it will pass!

Hi, the situation improved a bit, she is still barking a lot, but seems to be a bit calmer around her now. She is keeping some treats with her and it helped. The food thing was not exactly successful, the dog did not like the idea, no bite, but it was scary... I also believe that dogs have great instincts, but my dog has anxiety issues, if I follow all her instincts I will never have friends again, as she seems to hate everybody at first sight, including old friends, new friends, family, neighbors... She is only ok with the 4 of us.

Hi Quinn10, I am trying to figure it out if I am on the same boat here. As my kids travel only once or twice a year, they never get much miles, so I registered them as family members assigned to my skywards. As far as I understood, I get a % of their miles when they travel, but they get the full miles on their skywards IDs. At least it was what I got. Their miles don't add a lot to my miles, but it helps a bit. In the end they loose their miles anyway because they never get enough miles and I understood you cannot transfer miles from one person to the other.... maybe only an illusion you are getting something out of it...

Hi littleone, No, she did not spend time with the dog. When the dog is not barking or snarling she tried to pet her, but the barking and teeth start and she gets a bit afraid. I know that listen to the dog is a good thing, but in her case she has a lot of anxiety issues and apart from the 4 of us she does the same with almost every person, so far we only had 1 person at the house that the dog was completely at peace, even my previous maid got a lot of barking in the morning and occasional barking during the day. I guess if I follow my dog's judgment I would never ever have someone around the house anymore. Maybe the fear is starting am endless cycle, as she barks, the lady gets scared, it feeds the fear and I don't know how to end it... my head is exploding as my poor dog has very healthy lungs....

Hi, Dog lovers, I need some urgent guidance here. I changed maids this week and my dog is acting completely crazy around her, it is her second day and it seems to be getting worse and not better. She is barking non stop to her, and only feeling her close makes her bark or grunt... I agreed to start training this week for her anxiety issues, but I am concerned she will scare the new maid before we can have the first session. :-( Any advice, trick I could try? It is funny, because the maid came to the house for an interview and the dog was fine, no issue at all, but after she "felt" the person is permanent the barking started. It is driving all of us crazy here. Any help or advice will help!

It sounds like he is buying time. Is this maid that amazing that she is worth all this hassle? There are maid agencies where you can find someone from overseas and not have to go through all this. He is buying time, I can understand his side, she seems good, the kids are used to her and I believe he will try until the last minute to make her stay. I am waiting for some time now, and I have committed to her. Unless she gives up on working for me or something bad happens I will keep my word. I will only look for someone else if I cannot keep her. Yes she seem good, not sure if she is amazing, but so far she seemed a good person, in the interviews we had she seemed to be a good fit. I will wait, right now waiting a couple of weeks more will not make so much difference anymore.

Are you sure that you can trust this sponsor? He hasn't been very forthcoming with you. I am not sure, probably not, but there isn't much I can do right now... He said he was in his right to have her working during the grace period, I was almost sure it was not right, but TBH I was really trying to avoid any confrontation at the moment. Any idea if she can get in trouble or something? She really seems like a nice person (the maid), she is only stuck. I can find another person if things go wrong, but if there is anything I can do to help her, I will, only want to avoid that she gets in trouble.

Hi, Only one comment about BF babies don't sleep through the night so easily. I have 2 DDs that I BF as much as I could, both of them were sleeping all night after 2 months old and I only BF (no juice or solids until 5 months, only introduced them when I had to go back to work). They would be fed around 10 pm and would wake up around 6 am the next day. The doctor said it was fine because they were putting a lot of weight. Both of them were awake most of the day and I would BF around 6, 7 times during the day. They would feed a lot each time as I was producing so much milk I had to donate. After I went back to work I would freeze 2 bottles that they gave my DD during the day with my milk. I only stopped BF my first DD when I got a terrible infection that made me take antibiotics for 2 weeks, the doctor told me to stop BF and try again when the medicine was out of my system... I tried, but the milk did not come back. :-( About the best things to shop... Don't buy small things, they will probably not fit your baby for more than a week or two if your baby is over 3 kgs and is putting normal weight. Only buy comfortable cotton items, avoid details like laces,or big buttons or anything that can be uncomfortable. Have a lot of medium size diapers stocked, usually the babies use this size for quite some time. I had a baby shower and only asked for diapers, it was great, did not have to buy them for almost a year! :-)

Not sure what to do, I talked to the sponsor and he said he needs her to work for a week maybe two after the visa expires during the grace period, as they are having a hard time to find a replacement. I agreed because to be honest there is nothing I can do about it. My concern is only about her, is it legal to keep working after the visa expiration? Would it create any problem for her or even the sponsor? I am not fully aware of what happens after the visa expires, so that's why I am asking.

Hi, I would like to offer pet sitting exchange also if anybody is interested. I will travel from 19 to 27 of July, but will be around the rest of the summer. I have a cross breed female, rescued that I believe would be better with someone who could take care of her for these days than in a kennel, I believe will be stressful. She is a medium dog. I can take care of another female or a male who is neutered too. Anybody interested?

Thanks for the info about the possibility to go to immigration, I wasn't aware of that. One question if someone knows, her visa will be expired, not cancelled, does the sponsor need to do something in immigration? My previous maid I took the cancellation to request the work permit, but I don't know the procedure when the visa is expired and in grace period, as I will go to immigration a Sunday, as the visa expires on a Thursday. For the work permit I don' need to start with the Emirates ID, right? This step is only for when I do the final visa, or not?

Yes, he tried an incentive, but there is no way to solve the issue that made her want to leave. She told me she still wants me to hire her, she is not asking for anything else. I will wait and see and will not offer cash. If this is the only way, I will look for someone else.

I am not sure I understood your question. I did not ask anybody anything. I talked to the sponsor because I wanted references about her and understand why she was leaving. She gave me his number and he confirmed he was not exactly happy she was leaving, but was in agreement because he understood why she was leaving. He said she would have to stay until the visa expired, as he paid for the visa and would use it until the last day, as she was the one who wanted to leave, after that he said that if I wanted to transfer the visa he would not send her home and we could do the transfer. At that point I hadn't decided yet about her, I said I would communicate her about my decision. Until 2 weeks ago things were ok, but now that the date is close she said the sponsor is trying to make her stay. I am concerned that he becomes upset and send her home or even ban....

Hi, We got a Ford Edge a couple of weeks ago. DH is loving it! :-) Can't stop himself telling all the cool things about the car! We got a Ramadan promotion and a 10K discount and 5 years service package. The person who sold us the car was amazing, interested, polite, listened to our needs, gave all the info we needed and was very helpful with the financing options. After being treated very bad in places like Kia, Hunday, Nissan, etc it was amazing seeing that there are still good sales people around. I recommend the car. The Lexus I have no clue, I only know that they are expensive cars.

Hi chocho, I posted in previous threads the number for the agent who helped me. But to be honest, it worked for me, not sure if he is reliable or not, he only showed me many houses and told me which ones would accept my budget. He was not the direct agent for any of them, but was sharing commission, in the end it was ok. I would recommend that you visit the area and get some numbers, there are still many townhouses for rent with the agent number. If you are lucky enough you may find an owner... when I was renting there were a couple of signs, but DH wanted a very specific location that required an agent. Good luck!

Hi, Do you think Playmobil World would be worth for a 10 years old too? I checked Legoland and I am wondering if it is too far, I noticed it is between Stuttgart and Munich. Seems a bit expensive too, is it ok for my kids age? I saw some comments in Tripadvisor regarding being a bit old and overpriced. But it definitely is a good option.

Yes, I have been a couple of times to the North and it was amazing, but I was by myself, and did the normal sight seen (museums, churches, a lot of walking). I don't know the south, DH went to Munich and surroundings 5 times and said it is great, but also by himself. We don't know how interesting it will be for the kids. They cope well during trips, but we need to find at least one child oriented attraction per day to keep them motivated when we visit all churches, museums and castles. If they have something to wait for during the day they enjoy the adult attractions more! :-) Anything like that? DH told me something about a Toys museum I thing in Nuremberg. Not sure if there are more things to do like parks or other type of kids friendly attractions.

I live in a type A townhouse. My DEWA bill so far was around 1000 AED/month. More than half of it is for Housing fees. We don't pay cooling district in here. I don't have any type of bugs here, outside there are some mosquitoes at night, but not that much and only when it started to get warmer. No other type of bug so far to be honest. Traffic is bad, but it depends on the time. My DH had the same concerns and he is now fully adapted, or he leaves the house before 7 or after 8:30 am. Between this time the traffic is terrible and you can be stuck for 45 minutes to cross DG. same issue in the afternoon/ evening. You will have to find the right combination for you. So far it is not bothering us, the cost benefit for us compensate occasional traffic when we cannot leave during the times mentioned.

Hi Irooni, I have 2 girls, 10 and 8 and I bought bras for both of them. The small one only uses for fun as she says that she doesn't need it, but she loves when she can have her big girl day, put some nice outfit and wears the bra. My 10 years old is also flat chested but she wears bra to go to school everyday, first because she says she feels self conscious to change in front of other girls and second because the school polo is a little see through and she doesn't feel comfortable without anything underneath. We've solved it with cotton bras that I got from Justice, they are comfortable, cheap and look more like a shot top than a bra, but solved the problem. Funny now is that my older one started to show the first signs that the breasts will develop soon and now she says that the bra is uncomfortable... go figure! :-) I agree with you that everything should have its own time, but I don't think having a bra will make them grow up faster or feel like teenagers earlier.

The guy who helped me is called Ali his number is 0502416416. He was with a lady from another real state agency named Afsheen 055 1099 509. What I know is that they share the commission with whoever is responsible for the villa. The villa I mentioned to you has a sign of the real state agency Afsheen works, so I guess you can talk directly to her. If you come to the area you can collect the phone number of the villas facing the road, it is the same sign all the time, so I guess it is the same person in charge. Good luck! And bargain a lot! :-)

Hi, Just came back from Dubai Municipality too. Only to complete the information. I did not have the Title Deed (I thought I had, but the paper wasn't it). If you have any document that shows the plot number, the person at Ejari can confirm on line the ownership. It took me 3 trips there, as the system was down the first, the second the guy forgot my process, but at the third one the confirmation was done and the contract was registered. Seems he does that a lot, the day he said he forgot he had a huge pile of contracts in the same situation. So I believe that as long as your landlord is really the owner it can be proved and the Ejari can be done with the plot number.

Hi adooli, I also live in Al Furjan and love it. Unfortunately I don't know any landlord apart from mine and I know he rented his 3 villas, as I visited all of them when I was renting to decide which one would suit us better. What I can tell you in the some new villas that were with for sale sign now are with For rent sign, specially in the very beginning of the area with road view. The For sale signs were removed and changed. I also know that the same agent that rented mine has a huge sign for one villa facing the park, corner one Type A, great location. I can give you the number if you want. Good luck and I hope seeing you around!

Hi, thanks for all comments and advice. I was already planning to have some professional training for her, unfortunately I keep postponing for lack of time, but now that the kids will be on vacation I think it could be the best time. My DD has also to be involved, as she is the one who spends most of the time with the dog. I believe in positive reinforcement, I am a psychologist and worked and studied that in humans and animals for a long time and know that this really works. I tried the food strategy once when I had visitors, it worked, but took time and my visitor who was panicking was nice to give us time to play the food reinforcement, took half an hour, but she started behaving. I start taking food outside also and see how it goes. She is not my first dog, but she is the first who was not with me since she was a puppy and I can understand her behavior, she had a tough life before being rescued.

hi, DD is almost 11 and she is very proud that our dog can sit, roll and even give her Hi 5. The dog is very smart, she did not destroy a thing at the house, she only eats when we are around, she is super clean, doesn't do anything inside the house. I agree that she tries to protect us, the problem is that we are afraid someone will take it in a wrong way and we end up with problems.
