I go to Dr Koster, Koster clinic, she's great 043881887. Not sure about today though. The only 'urgent' Mirena complication would be a perforated uterus (severe abdo pain), otherwise tomorrow would probably be ok (unless you need it inserted for emergency contraception within the 5 day window). Good luck!

Jemi, the Dubai Ladies Club is women only & has an excellent range of facilities. I don't dread exercising (as much) since I joined. It's in Jumeirah on Beach Rd. I'm a swimmer & have the 'leisure package' for pool use. Alternatively Fitness 360 in J3 mall opposite smaller Choitrams on Al Wasl Rd is ladies only. Good facilities, classes & personal trainers, but no pool if you're interested in swimming.

Warey that's good to hear! I'm flying back to UK at 33 weeks and my obgyn has recommended a single dose of Aspirin 75mg. I'm a doctor myself & still in 2 minds. Nice to hear a positive outcome :)

Missed you ladies too! Important plans this morning... DH & I went to Dubai Mall and ordered the furniture for the nursery from Mother Care. So pleased it's done :) (and we were aiming to avoid the Eid havoc around the corner) Wished I'd taken notes when you were talking mattresses last week, hope the one we got is ok. Looking forward to seeing you soon, hope you & your bumps are all well. Happy Eid x edited by Britgirldubai on 02/10/2014 edited by Britgirldubai on 02/10/2014

We did something similar to Suzy's suggestion for a friend's hen, and we had tshirts printed with her pic on which we were all wearing. Was quite funny tbh, but cute too

HRT does of course replace the hormones that are no longer being produced. It can only be used for max 5 years over the age of 50 (by UK guidelines), it has been shown to increase the risk of breast cancer significantly.

Sciottishbambi you should have great hope!! I'm 36 and 6months preg, we're as fertile as the teenagers ;) Mollymoo I can understand you're confused. It's a bit early to jump to the conclusion that you're peri-menopausal. Many women can miss a period here & there from various factors like stress or over-exercise, as well as thyroid function abnormalities. And perhaps you were preg & had an early misc. If you are around the menopause your hormone tests would indicate this (low oestrogen, raised FSH & LH). The average age is 50 and you often follow what your mother went through. The beta-HCG blood test is pretty accurate for pregnancy, but you could repeat it if you're uncertain and your next period doesn't arrive & you don't want an USS. Good luck!! Ps. I agree, why would anyone thumb down MrsB who has been so open & helpful??! edited by Britgirldubai on 28/09/2014 edited by Britgirldubai on 28/09/2014

We went to Cyprus, was really easy & hassle free. I'm English & DH is from USA. Our best friends had done it there the month before us (Dutch & Canadian) and we used the same british 2 ladies they had used, who arrange everything. We had looked into Vegas too as it seemed so complicated anywhere else & you can't post notice of marriage here for a uk one so you need to be there for several weeks. I had to go to the law office in Cyprus & swear I wasn't married already and they gave me a certificate. DH did it at USA consulate/embassy here in Dubai before leaving. In Cyprus the next day we went to the town hall for the civil service. We could have done it in the hotel, but we chose the cute town hall. Our friends did it in the hotel as they had quite a few family/friends come over for it. It's recognised everywhere, which was really important to me. Let me know if you want the email address. Good luck & congratulations!!

Having read this thread I was intrigued about what all the fuss was about.... so I looked at the jobs page and am now totally shocked anyone would thumb down the original post by DR. I'm all for freedom of speech and opinions, but I really can't understand. She's been honest in admitting they don't fit the criteria, and for all we know they are paying the rates Wednesday Genius mentions. Perhaps a down-thumber could enlighten us? Ps. DR hope you find the perfect candidate for the role! edited by Britgirldubai on 26/09/2014

Tatie Bogie, it's not a game apparently, it a guy ( a real person) who has build some mine craft stuff 'and he is giving a 'guided tour' of his stuff and how he built it. Apparently Stampy is one of many. I have no idea what Stampy is, but misspelling TB as T.Bogie did make me giggle ;)

I decided to throw a last minute bridal shower for a friend, a brunch came in really handy as I hadn't even met some of the other girls before. Arranged it all by email, it was a pre-agreed set amount for each person, and they could choose with or without alcohol. It worked out really well. I think a large group of us ordering from a menu, then splitting the bill (some non-drinkers etc) would gave caused serious headache for us & the waiter... although I think there were still a few headaches the next day anyway lol

Hi Dec mums, Hope you & your bumps are all well. I had been really nervous about the EW coffee mornings too, until my first one a few weeks ago... but it was great & I met some lovely friendly ladies :) I've been going to Tue ones at Mercato since then, as most convenient & will go tomorrow, but will get myself to the Thurs one too if there's going to be some Dec mums to chat to. This is my 1st pregnancy & I'm due on Dec 24th. Look forward to seeing you, Negin

Have you tried Top Chef? They have various classes and each one has a menu set beforehand which you can see online. Just had a look and there's a Thai class next week. Most likely there will be an Arabic one some time (there was in Ramadan, when I was looking). You cook your meal (several courses) then all eat it I think. topchefdubai dot com

We used to go (from the uk) when my brother & I were little. Can't remember exactly how old, about 9-12yrs for 3 consecutive winters. We went to Pre Fleuri in Villars. It was fantastic fun, great for our French and our skiing. I think there was another nearby called Aiglon for older kids. Good luck!!

I used Superprice several times for about 2 months each time. They were excellent... Dropped off car & picked up, I emailed all my paperwork to them using iPhone pics. Once when I had an accident they towed the car away & dropped off a new car, I paid the excess. I went for the cheapest car option each time & they were fine. I lived in a 1 bed, 2 storey duplex on the ground floor which I loved. Did have a nice front terrace but no BBQ allowed I think. It was brand new 2 years ago & had a lovely finish, nice pool, security & parking etc. It was called Al Maskan 2 in Jaffliyah, 1 minute from Trade Centre Roundabout, through Al Ghandi properties 042310606 They also have some 2 bedroom apartments, highly recommend it! Good luck!!

So if it's a blood test how is it localized to the gut? Could be vaginal (thrush), oral, between toes (athletes foot), skin infection, scalp etc

Lolacat I agree (load of old tosh)... How can a blood test tell you whether you gave XS fungus in your gut? The whole 'food intolerance testing' thing is a money-making scam which any self-respecting Dr wouldn't use.

The Family Medicine & Physio clinic in a Town Centre mall (next to Mercato) offers speech therapy. Not sure who the practitioner is & how good but worth an enquiry. I saw I sign in the mall several days ago on a mascara hunt in Paris Gallery.

I used ALS World Movers (alsworldmovers at yahoo dot co dot uk) I had left loads of stuff - furniture, crockery, lamps, microwave, mirrors, tables, TV etc in a room at my mum's when I moved to Dubai. They packed it all up at that end, then unpacked it all at this end. There were no delays and no breakages. I expect they do Qatar too. No complaints from me :) edited by Britgirldubai on 10/09/2014

We like to go to Bosporus on Jumeirah Beach road.... lots of easy parking, and it's midway between both sides of Dubai. No need to dress up, very relaxed. Or The Pantry café by Safa Park. Or Shu opposite Jumeirah beach park. But these are all non-alcohol places, not sure what you're after.

Hi Dec mummies, Yes I went to the coffee morning at Mercato today and REALLY enjoyed it. There were only 6 of us but there's usually more, as it's only the first week it's started up again and some lucky folk are still away. The host was totally lovely and all the ladies were friendly and chatty. Can't wait for next week.... Wow only 3lb at 23 weeks? I'm envious! I'm gaining weight every hour it seems, and am hungry all the time. Thank goodness the Harmony test can't back all clear & I'm feeling her movements at last :) I'm looking into some antenatal classes at the moment, most likely will go to Cooper Clinic... Has anyone heard any feedback? It's a 1 day course on 1st Saturday of every month from 10am-5pm, 2000dhs per couple. The other option is Birthzone.ae, going to call them tomorrow for info.
