Please please please put the fertiliser after sunset and water the lawn luxuriously till the pellets are dissolved over night or well in to the soil as sun over fertiliser can damage the lawn. over the fertiliser sprinkle organic manure....I water our lawn thrice a day in summers...at 5am, then at 11am and then at 6 pm. Keeping the lawn well hydrated.

I can recommend Dubai Herbal & Treatment centre... I have disc protrusion (herniated disc) and had a very debilitating -painful bout of slip disc 2 months back where I was bed ridden for more than 2 weeks... I have been going for accupunture and physio to Traditional Chinese Med HOD Dr. Maria ....and I am on my two feet, wth pain down to 2 on a range of 1-10! After spending thousands on docs from neuro spinal, Welcare etc... DHTC finally worked. Worth a try... Hafsa S their physiotherapist is god send...

Sharing my tried and tested butter chicken recipe:- Ingredients: •1 kg boneless chicken skin removed •Juice of 1 lime •Salt to taste •1 tsp red chilli powder (adjust to suit your taste) •6 cloves •8-10 peppercorns •1" stick of cinnamon •2 bay leaves •8-10 almonds •Seeds from 3-4 pods of cardamom •1 cup fresh yoghurt (must not be sour) •3 tbsps vegetable/canola/sunflower cooking oil •2 onions chopped •2 tsps garlic paste •1 tsp ginger paste •2 tsps coriander powder •1 tsp cumin powder •1/4 tsp turmeric powder •1 can (400g or 14 oz) of tomato paste •1/2 litre chicken stock •2 tbsps kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves) •3 tbsps unmelted, soft butter •Salt to taste •Coriander leaves to garnish Preparation: •Mix the chicken, lime juice, salt and red chilli powder in a large, non-metallic bowl. Cover and allow to marinate for 1 hour. •Heat a flat pan or griddle on medium heat and gently roast (stirring frequently) the cloves, peppercorns, cinnamon, bay leaves and almonds till they darken slightly. Cool and add the cardamom seeds. Now grind into a coarse powder in a clean, dry coffee grinder. •Mix the yoghurt, above whole spice powder (from previous step), coriander, cumin and turmeric powders together and add them to the chicken. Allow to marinate for another hour. •Heat the oil in a deep pan on medium heat. When hot, add the onions. Fry till a pale golden brown in color and then add the ginger and garlic pastes. Fry for a minute. •Add only the chicken from the chicken-spice mix and fry till sealed (chicken will turn opaque and the flesh will go from pink to whitish in color). •Now add the tomato paste, chicken stock, kasuri methi and remaining part of the yogurt-spice mix to the chicken. •Cook till the chicken is tender and the gravy is reduced to half its original volume. •Melt the butter in another small pan and then pour it over the chicken. •Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with Naan and Kaali Daal. •For an authentic and traditional cooked-over-the-coals flavour: When the Butter Chicken is cooked, make a small bowl shape with aluminum foil and place it on top of the curry ('floating' on it). Heat a briquette of charcoal on an open flame till red hot and gently put the charcoal in to the aluminum foil bowl. Cover the dish immediately. Remove the cover just before serving, discard the foil bowl and charcoal and serve. The curry will be infused with a smokey flavor!

Personally, i would expect EK employees to get discounted travel etc as a perk of the job in the same way as UK bank staff get special interest rates for mortgages, supermarket employees get a percentage off their shopping etc etc... it's just fringe benefits, end of. Can't understand why so much fuss is being made and why does the subject even get discussed ?? lol True...probably grapes are sour thingie... am sure I will be virtually lynched now!

Discussing salary packages is more taboo than discussing sox, cancer and death, it seems. Well most contracts actually state that discussing company policies or inside info can lead to dismissal! Gosh, like signing the Official Secrets Act when you clean toilets for the Civil Service ;) It used to a breach of the Official Secrets Act if anyone shared the horrors of the MOD canteen menu.....and an instant D. Notice for any paper even mentioning the soggy cabbage. LOL Trish only you can come up with this!! time to sit back and see how this thread unfolds...further... ;O)

Thanks Beela... the name is short of my actual nick name(-part of it !!) :) Grade 8 assessment might have following: all or a combination of it:- 1. written assessment as mentioned in my previous post 2. Group discussion 3. One to one interview with panel of line dept and HR rep In Group discussion HR wants to gather evidence of competence in core competency areas as mentioned in the Job vacancy. Please ensure you go through those competencies marked i.e. Initiative & Commitment to achiece; Organising for results; Attention to details etc. Group activities could range from constructing somenthing out of given materials; or an sheet or scenario provided where all have to agree or disagree towards the final result. What they will like to see in you is how open you are towards rest; whether you took initiative at all in the task; how amicably you negotiate etc At Emirates the dressing style is corporate; so yes pant or dress suit should be appropriate. tied up hair looks professional if you have long hair; short crop style doesnt need any thing to done as long as it looks neat and not scruffy. L&D dept deals with training new trainees and set an example of how one should be carrying themselves whilst working with EK...so power dressing is apt. Pls send me your email address and I will write back to you if you need any other query to be answered. EW has helped me soooo many times...so time to help out ..cycle of life, Karma!

Pressure cook or boil yellow lentil with pinch of salt;turmeric and pinch of sugar. In a small pan heat white veg oil; put a pinch of cummin seeds; let it sputter then add thinly sliced onions. Ratio: One onion per cup of lentils you take. Once you fry the onions translucent, add one chopped tomatoe. Put in red chilli powder if you can take a bit of heat. Once the frying pan has a mush of the mix ..pour the sizzling mix in to the pan or pressure cooker with the bolied lentil. Let the lentil come to 2 boils...remove from heat!

Sure, which grade or position have you been called for.... different grades/positions have diff set of assessments. There is pyschometrics ..to know abt ur working style, personal character; depending upon job profile you have logic questions also along with English. Written assessments are fairly generic about MS Office skills or english language, simple geography at times...all are grade specific though. Few grades also have presentations to be prepared, followed by q/A session. All the best!

Hi, Am a crew wife... married to a Purser for 11 yrs. I work for EK too...its been a decade now!! Loving each moment of it as there is job security as opposed to many other companies here in Dubai. Husband has busy roster but with correct bidding we get to spend weekends more often than not. Dubai is a great city to be...it just grows on you. I never thought I will be sticking around for 10 yrs! Fatigue is there but my husband ensures he utilises his rest day resting and not socialising all the time. Not so much the work, but the weather should be of concern for people moving from cooler climes... we only have one weather...excrutiatingly hot, very hot, hot, tolerably hot, less hot !!

Was having the same problem till spoke to the techies of Jumbo...they told me to let my BB battery go to dying stage(yellow lite flashing) and then only recharge it completely(which takes an hr nd half) and unplug it. Keeping it plugged to the wall for longer damages the battery (unlike Nokia). All the best!
