Am not yet 40 but nearly there (37)... have been hooked on to Clarins night and day products for over 5 yrs now. I can vouch for the difference they have made to my skin...supple and smooth! Besides that I also use argan oil meant for face and body over weekends. this was introduced to me by my Moroccon frnds and it's wonderful and non greasy solutiong for winter dryness.

Is it possible to speak to few other Mums and get feelers if their kids are going through something similar... I had experienced something similar wen DD was in year 2... and wen few mothers got talking we realised it was indeed the teacher and not just over sensitive kids!

Better off taking Rupees; my HSBC credit card was blocked upon my landing back in to dubai 2 yrs back...HSBC reps called me and said as my CC was used in SriLanka, security was compromised as loads of CC fraud happens from there....with an week a new CC was issued for me.

We went last year( esp for James Blunt..drooooooooollll!!).... anyways...barring the drinks, food and elevated platform seating nothing much gets going and yes, parking!... 10 min into Blunts performance we went to general admission standing area as it was fun crowd there.... concert sitting down just doesnt make sense IMHO. If this year I get free access to VIP stands then well and good, am not spending myself! General admission crowd it is for me....

Looking at my happy-no-kids-couple friends who are well over 40, I believe it's a matter of personal choice and drives rather than go for thoughts of regrets etc! I have frnds( from India) where not having kids is SUCH a taboo and no-no but they still managed not to succumb to peer pressure and be childless out of sheer choice... am quoting them: " we want to continue enjoying our independent lives and if too hard pressed to feel more MATURE...will have pets!" However, must add they are all career driven women or couples who are just about settled in their lives financially...so keen to enjoy the fruits of hardwork and not spend it on hard task like raising a child!

Bubble trubble - what wonderful news. I remember when you adopted your little girl and I can't believe she's not 10 - wow! I can't tell you how happy I am for you and your husband to be expecting! I can't imagine your excitement/shock! OP - I experienced quite a number of miscarriages over quite a number of years and just felt that I would never have a baby of my own. My DH and I decided to just enjoy ourselves, go on amazing holidays and have fun. We had sort of decided that we would be fine without kids when I found out at 41 that I was pregnant! I went on to have a gorgeous little boy and at 43 had a beautiful little girl. I'm pretty sure that my DH and I would have been fine without kids and we would, for sure, have had an amazing life but........I would not be without my kids! It's something you can't really explain to someone - now - as they are growing up - nearly 10 and 8 - I can see little bits of me in them both and little bits of my husband in them too and we are still having a fabulous life - we are just doing slightly different things. We still have gorgeous holidays (if you ask my 2 where their favourite holiday destination is they will tell you The Maldives!). There is something so, so amazing about having children. I have some friends who do not have children and have taken that decision not to and they have a wonderful life (they are amazing Auntie and Uncles!) It's such a personal decision and really only one that you and your DH can make. Bubble trubble - please post on here when your special little one arrives! So, so pleased for you. Thanks Claire... time surely flew!! We couldnt believe it wen ob gyn told us we were 8 weeks pregnant already wen I went for check up for delayed period! At 37 yrs of age I had completely given up hope of natural conception....now DD is over the moon as she was forever nagging us to get her a sibling. Our dossier was getting ready for adoption submission this March/April.....nature surely does play tricks! New baby due on 10th March...to be induced earlier than actual date of 22nd as I am on insulin for gestational diabetes. Will surely keep you posted....thanks once again Claire for remembering..it was way way looong ago, eh! I wudn't wish infertility or miscarriages upon my choicest of enemies too.....EVER and Pinks u r correct... one should be lucky to make a choice of having baby....really!

We were on similar crossroads 8 yrs back...having a fab life: travelling around the world, having parties every weekend, late nights, really really adventurous life, care two hoots about savings etc... then all our frnds started popping babies...their lifestyle changed right in front of our lives. We used to love holding lil babies but used to wonder how our frnds used to cope with constant child care..hardly any sleep etc. But we both( DH and I) realised when the babies/toddlers had happy moments the pleasure it gave our frnds was indecribable... We sat down , sorted our earnings, saving plans and decided time to move in to adventure of parenthood...met the first hurdle..I was infertile..IUI, IVF...nothing worked.... by that time we were on a MISSION..it seems!! LOL.... we didnt give up... adopted a 2 yr old toddler... WOw...wat a rollercoaster ride it has been....our previous life of adventure pales..really! settling in a toddler with 3 rescued dogs, coping with her ADHD and dyslexia..with hardly any biological bonding was a challenge. But today wen we look at our gorgeous 10 yr old daughter being a happy lovely child...it gives us nothing but sheer unadulterated pleasure. As if nature was also in to surprise us...we got pregnant last year, due next month! Another joy ride about to start... I will be lying if I say never ever regeretted parenthood... we did have our low moments wen we doubted our stubborness to beat nature and adopt.... but who doesnt with children! If you know you want kids...your instincts will steer you towards it... men just go with the flow with what keeps their women content...they always want to be free birds..LOL! My DH was ok without kids, with the idea of infertility and no kids; with adoption and now he is grappling with the idea of a newborn!!! Poor him....

Airport: Terminal and Concourse are owned and managed by Dubai Airports Authority..so any failures in service is their lapse as does happen in any busy airport around the world. EK ground staff also doesnt have any say in repair ..can only raise fault. Inflight services team can't even access Concourse let alone be part of service recovery/repair! As of now, owing to increased traffic all gates (Concourse A,B and few from C) are to be utilised for all aircrafts. Concourse A is equipped with all gates to cater to A380's , doesnt mean that other aircraft types can't park! Taking bus, train etc to connect through terminals is new to Dubai residents...but not new to various other busy airports around the world... with in few months we all will get used to it and factor in another additional 15 min or so in to our travelling time.

I had faced a similar situation when my learning disabled DD needed sp attention which wasn't given but no one from school accepted it and later put it on lack of skills on DD's behalf....after taking things up with school board and all found it to be lost battle and changed schools...

About flghts...being an Indian I avoid Air India!! You can go via Bombay or Chennai or Bangalore, connecting fligth with Jet Airways , again one of the best domestic fleets and wonderful crew. From Dubai Emirates and then onwards Jetairways. food wise: having lived out of India for over a decade even I get bouts of Delhi belly if am not careful about the water or drinks there. It's water born bacteria which messes up your digestion..so safe with bottled water always. Standard of 5 star hotels: at par or at times better than Dubai... as it's pretty expensive.

Taj properties around India and world are one of the most luxurious properties...read Tripadvisor reviews you will never try other properties, I can guarantee you! Besides Banyan Tree and Anantara hospitality...we were floored by their service and all that they have on offer. Taj has another property in Goa called Fort Aguada beach resort...we stayed there and am planning to go again next year!

I had a swab test done early at my 33 week appt since I've gone early in the past. Test came back positive for strep B. was put on three day antibiotic and will get an IV of penicillin during labor. 3 days til I hit 35 weeks. Hoping that this little guy stays in a little longer than that as I'm worried he's still breech and I really don't want a c-section. I'm finding it hard to tell if this one has dropped yet but my lower back is starting to get sore and I usually end up with back labor first. Sending you loads of good wishes and hopefully you should be able to bake ur bun a lil longer....even am worried stiff that no matter what atleast till week 35 I must carry on!

It's indeed an intersting read and very informative discussion by ladies here... My two pennies worth... am not British/Aussie/American but chose to send my DD to british curriculum school as I knew she has learning disability and will NOT survive Indian standards of schooling. I am willing to pay all extras as long as sp needs of my child are looked in to and the quality of education meted out is standard. For me who has been grilled through Indian system, year 5 studies of my kiddo is piece of cake! All the kids stdying in Indian schools are FAR advanced than my DD...which is ok for me as hardly any homework stress! Initially both DH and I used to be flustered abt such easy pace...but now actually enjoy the standard! For me Outstanding rating of the school would mean a child who enjoys going to school, is pleasant and is performing ok at all subjects....with out any racism! edited by bubble_trubble on 23/01/2013

OMG..and I thought I had serious room for improvement in curtailing the expenses!! Ok here I go.. I keep aside 500aed for grocery per week...split between Spinney's and Lulu. All pulses, pasta, rice, condiments, oil, butter, fish from Lulu. All veg, fruit and meat( Pork, chicken, lamb), bread, milk, yoghurt, cheese from Spinneys. I buy my daughter's school box stuff at a go in bulk from Lulu too...like tetra pack milk, cheese bites, sandwich spreads etc). For dogs: buy Eukanoba from Springs/Meadows town centre...600 aed ( 1 bag for 2 elderly dogs and 1 bag meant for 1 year old ). My salik to and fro work: 250aed+ 400AED petrol this gets my total up to: AED 3250, leaving 750 aed for surprise expenses like bdays, parties we host, movie night...have to thank discount card from company for amazing deals at restaurants around town though! Festive seasons I keep extra 1000aed for gifts and return favours etc... Am trying to cut this further if I can loose out upon my laziness and buy entirely from Lulu....but Spinneys round the corner after heavy day of work is just so so convenient! With new baby's arrival due in March...few extra expenses have crept up but thats just incidental I guess....

Not trying to scare or anything...but do recommend a lot of indepth study in to legalities as it's still a grey area in India when it comes to surrogacy. We adopted 8 yrs back and it was such a task...red tapism is rampant there...and we both(DH and I ) are Indians! http://www.timescrest.com/life/surrogacy-laws-no-ones-child-8664

Dr.Luthra has been fab with me till date... FTM... loads of queries, frantic at time but she is so thorough with her replies you feel well looked after. She might not come across as really warm but I have seen her caring side when she comforted me during my emergency hospital stay last week. Have your queries ready, and she will answer them....upon research I found her standards are really good... like keeping wght down, managing bp, sugar etc.

Thanks Daza, am good and back at work! though on self administered insulin and daily sugar monitoring. Had gone for monthly obgyn visit on wednesday wen doc saw the sugar weekly chart out of whack...high during fasting( 90-100) and low pp( 80-90)! She needed to put me on insulin and monitor response....immediately she admitted me...only to released once readings were stable. Once home reading spiked a bit so she increased the insulin dosage by a unit...but in constant touch with me via her team if she is busy! Now thats' the kind of care and concern that impresses me. As FTM biological mom, with bad BMI, elderly(37), infertility background, PCOS: I feel a lil vunerable but Dr.Luthra is real thorough and makes me confident with her diagnosis.

Queen of hearts am so so with you.... I hve had 13 yrs of infertility with 3 IUI's and one failed IVF..then left everything for 3 yrs...last year was undergoing acupuncture for chronic back pain at DHTC and the doc there mentioned that this cleansing is good for infertility too! Don't really know for sure if it was acupuncture....but last June we fell pregnant! No medications, nothing..only this diff was my accupunture... I am **** scared of needles...but after 2 sessions I was used to the tiny pricks and thru teh sessions I used to drift off to sleep... all the very best to you! if it puts u at ease, go to a registered clinic. edited by bubble_trubble on 06/01/2013

5 of my frnds have delivered in recent years at Medcare with Dr.Luthra, so she is my ob gyn also. I was diagnosed last weekend with gestational diabetes and was hospitalised(Medcare), the care I recieved from the team and Dr.Luthra was really reassuring and am glad I made her and the hospital my choice.
