I used to have similar problem with my rescued one....there were couple of things which were addressed: he got fixed; then behavioural training; then walked twice: once in the morning and then in the evening too.... all this made a difference to him. till date if we have to leave 3 of them alone I make sure I leave the music or radio on....

You are having a baby, and you are debating whether to keep this cat? Pretty clear case to me. so if u have a kid in the picture...your four legged companions dont' matter any more??? Its heart warming to see some people do go to the end of the world to make their pets lives comfortable....

And I gave you a suggestion. It doesn't matter how long anyone spends out. Exposure is exposure. So at least use protection rather than oils which give you nothing. Wow! now you sound like my MUM!!! Yes...point taken.... I do it for my kid! for me...NAH....few days of summer tan to look vain....!!

Seriously? Oil? Why don't you just cover yourself in vegetable oil and cook like a chicken! It doesn't matter what type of skin you have, the dangers of the sun are the same. Tanning and lying out in the sun in the name of vanity is never a good idea. Keep going like that and welcome to skin cancer in a few years. Thanks but no thanks! thanks to higher levels of melanin in our ASIAN skins we are safer from skin cancer ....so chill!!! You reckon? Actually Asians are more likely to present with untreatable skin cancers because of that misconception. Plus cancers are more likely to occur on unexposed skin, that that which is exposed during tanning. Even though the percentage of those getting cancers might be low, the majority of those cases are fatal. Still not worth taking the risk really. Instead of oils, use a decent sunscreen with a good spf, you'll still tan and evenly, but with a reduced risk. Plus there are many with tan enhancers which limit your exposure. edited by Chocs01 on 21/06/2012 Please lets each stick to our own research and follow what we think is good for us ! Am thankful for you looking out but c'mon as adults we have the right to our own opinions!Don't feel the need to defend myself any further...just posted about a query...not too keen to get preaching shoved down my throat ;O) Just to add: as melanin levels are high in our skin, exposure time is also less coz we get tanned quicker...prolonged exposure is the key to cancer! But thanks for sharing your thoughts.....

I am Indian with pale skin and LOVE tanning as it gives an even , healthy , glowing look to the skin. Just tanning with out any coverage leaves me with patches and uneven tan... I used Lancaster Bronzing dark cream and Argan oil which my Moroccan friend tops up for me. After sun to prolong tan I use Clarins tan enhancing cream.

Just got pest control to remove a nest from the eaves of our balcony after I was bit by 2 of them day before yesterday. I was told by the doc that mine was 7th case in 3 days...Rosary clinic... even the pest control guys said they get atleast 2 calls a day to sort out wasp nests in our area. Please be careful as I was stung on my ear lobe and back..got anti-histamine shot and painkiller shots...its still swollen and itchy, head is heavy too. Best first aid...to put fresh lime juice over the sting or rub a freshly cut onion....

Wow...Well done TA... I for one can vouch quick fixes are no good... it took me 6 months to loose 12 kgs...still 8 more to go.... but watching what you eat, binge once a while, eating more often thru the day to get the metabolism kicking and no sold food in take after 630pm...if working for me, along with power walking for an hour a day. It's really motivating to see your progress, keeps actual fat people like me on my toes! you are inspiring indeed....

My 10 yrs old blind and diabetic K9 rescued angel lost his battle day before yesterday...he died in my arms after low sugar induced recurrent convulsions. He fought with us to give it a go for 7 long hours after which he just couldnt take it anymore and breathed his last... 24/7 vet emergency serices from 3 clinics couldnt do anything besides telling us to feed him honey or corn syrup to get his sugar count up. But he died a very painful death convulsing whilst we watched helplessly...at times I do question the kind of care or support we get from vets here... Knowing vets back home and from my family's place in India and Scotland... I am now told emergency help from vets would have kicked in....

Just got to know frm our vets that insulin for dogs can't be stocked by them as new law doesnt allow them to import from UK...my diabetic dog is completely dependent on caninsulin... with out it he might suffer from multiple organ failure. Am calling as many vets as possible for alternative solutions; in the meanwhile would anyone know about any vets who might source it from anywhere other than UK? can transfer his papers to that vet....

I flew out a week before , DD was on day 9 of pox. As per our doc CP is most contagious during incubation period...however few kids have severe cough and cold which might lead to high discomfort during flying. My DD had blocked nose for which nasal spray was prescribed and she flew out...she had mild fever too....but nothing else. No doctor certificate is required. As a gesture to other passengers, esp pregnant mothers...its better not to travel with in first 5-6 days of chicken pox....

Do slim fast for 10 days, have either 2 shakes a day or 1 shake and 1 bar, and then have grilled chicken or white fish and salad for dinner, thats it. and exercise of course, you'll drop weight pretty easily doing that and still be getting the vitamins and nutrients needed to be healthy. ETA: Chicken Breast and should only be the size of your palm, white fish the size of your hand.... if your a vegetarian then have grilled veggies instead... edited by STILLadviceseeker on 09/02/2012 Must share I am on day 5 of a diet...somewhat similar to the one mentioned and have dropped off 2.5 kgs already and goign steady with no cravings...though have to kick start metabolism early morning with protien intake like 2 hard boiled eggs and 1 glass of skimmed milk; mid morning snack of a fist full of dried fruits like figs, apricots, dates...afternoon of salad ...and dinner before 6 pm of proetien again..plam sized portion of tofu as I am a vegetarian alternate with diet of fruits and raw vegetables the next day...eat and snack thru the day...and 2.6 litres of water.

I have had PCOS since I was a teenager: every 2-3 months check up is recommended esp if you are of child bearing age...which could be 16-60 these days! anyways...low carbs and high protein works to keep the fat around midriff away and that helps PCOS symptoms flaring up too.

My father was detected with kidney cancer 2 yrs back...tried all treatments but it was a very angry spread...so he had to ahve one of his kidney's removed. He is hale and hearty now...needed his family to be around him to pick up his spirits... Sending loads of positive vibes, prayers and get well wishes for your mum.

What training has been offered? Many maids may come from countries where there is little understanding of the concept of a "pet" as a family member that should be treated in a certain way - in their countries animals may be viewed primarily as livestock or food!! Absolutely true...and thats why total disregard towards being kind to animals! Maids shudn't be walking pets...period....

...I usually stop and chat with the maids [b'>if they are mistreating their dogs...but don't blame them! The dogs are not their pets[/b'> but still they are forced to walk them and am sure they wudn't be bothered to pick after the dog too. Am just scared that this might lead to dogs being banned in gated communities..... Worse is when an aggressive breed of dog like Doberman is walked by a tiny little philipina who can barely manage to hold on to the leash when the dog pulls... Um, don't blame them??! regardless of whether the dog (or animal) is their pet or their employer's pet or anyone's pet, whether their employer has asked or forced them to walk them, doesn't make it 'acceptable' to mistreat an animal! edited by Pomegranate on 06/03/2012 IMHO I don't blame the maids: they are usually not hired to look after dogs, its an additional responsibility piled on to them...I have spoken to many ...the onus is on the pet owner not the maid. Even though I would go to the end of the world for any animal, I do appreciate the fact that not everyone is an animal lover! So why harass the poor maids ??!! They manage the kids, the household and then they are expected to pick up dog poo which they wudn't have EVER in their countries....so it's demeaning for them. Try talking to a few maids and you would know! I have 3 rescued dogs, 3 cats...and have a maid too...but ITS SOLEY my responsibility to take care of the dogs/cats, walk them and pick their poop....NEVER my maids....! She loves cats so she has taken it upon herself to help me take care of them ....but I don't expect her to and I am ever so thankful....

I have had high BP for over 4 yrs now. For first 2 yrs I was on medications, and then reduced dosage and finally no meds now for over a year now. Alternative practices like yoga breathing helped me a lot. Deep breathing excercises in the morning and whenever I get a moment to myself..called pranayam. Reduced salt intake, reduction in processed food which has high sodium. Having at least 2 ltrs of water, sleeping on time( to have at least 7 hrs of sleep) more often than not, if I have oily food I follow it up with hot drink or warm watere to wash it down. In case of sudden BP increase, bed rest and sleeping is the best option. If not taken care of properly, the doc had warned me of strokes...I got scared and started taking care..
